Hey Folks. It seems the old long threads like our original introduction thread may be on the fritz for quite some time if not forever. Therefore, here's the new Introduction thread. You can read about some of the other folks here by clicking on the Introductions link. Just don't post there. There is no telling when and if your post would show up there.

So, welcome and tell us a little bit about yourself.

Hey all!

Okay, the only thing i have to say is that from the moment i first laid eyes on her i knew i was in love. Miss Kitty Fantastico i love you!!!

Heheh, anyways i've been lurking for awhile now and thought i'd actually join in on the fun. I'm 17 and from Australia and have been a huge Buffy fan since it began. Now I'm also a huge Amber/Tara fan not only because Amber is so goddamn beautiful on the outside, but she is such a beautiful/cool person on the inside too. From the interviews and stuff i have read, she seems like such a natural person and not at all a foney (is that how u spell it?) like other people in showbiz often sound like. She just says what she wants to say, which is so cool. Okay i admit it, i'm a smitten kitten!

Meow

Did u know i had to edit this because i wrote Ms Kitty instead of Miss Kitty the first time!!! I'm not worthy, I am sooo not worthy. hehe

Hello everyone!

Like Catwoman, I was a longtime lurker before I decided to make my first post.

I'm from Canada and has been an ardent follower of BTVS since day one. I love the writing and acting on this show. It became even better for me when Joss introduced the W/T storyline, which was a breath of fresh air on prime time television. It was a gutsy move on their part and that made me admire this show more.

My two closest friends are in the same situation as Willow and Tara. I was so relieved for them when they finally came out into the open about their relationship just recently. It felt good to exhale after a year and half of holding my breath. I was the only one who knew about them and I obviously felt like I was constantly making sure that I didn't do or say anything that would give them away. Boy was I GLAD when it was all said and done.

Sadly though, my friend's mother disowned her and so they were forced to move to a new city. To be honest with you, it took me a while to get used to the idea too so I know that her mom will eventually come around. I don't see them as often anymore but everytime I see Willow and Tara together I'm reminded of them. Actually, they watch BTVS now too and we always e each other after the shows.

I told them about this site which someone from a list posted a link to. I find myself laughing and learning something new everytime I come to visit.

Ah, so that's why I couldn't post earlier! It all falls into place now.

Anyhoo, I come to the Buffy circles via the fanfic world - I read LOTS of f/f stuff, Xena, Voyager, Scully, you name it. I started reading Buffy stuff even though I'd never seen the show - it's hard for me to catch primetime stuff 'cuz I work nights.

Then, about 2 months ago, I discovered that a cable channel up here in Canada (YTV) has Buffy on Saturday nights! I've been watching weekly since, and am pleased to see the expectations I had from reading are well-matched by the show itself.

So, I just *adore* the W/T relationship, and eagerly await the day Faith finally returns and confesses her undying love for Buffy. Hey, girl can dream, eh?

Yours,

Hey!
I totally love it here! I've just been sitting and reading for ages! It rocks to be able to hear peoples opinions on Willow and Tara, especially since they're the same as mine! Guess I should introduce myself then!
I'm 16 and live in Gosport, England and I totally love Buffy, espesh W/T, but I loved Willow before the Tara storyline anyway. I think I may favour Tara, but my opinion is different nearly everyday! Um, right now, I'm up to episode four, and it's five this week, of season five, which means I've yet to see 'Family' and I am just DYING!!!I can't wait, and I'm *almost* completely unspoiled! Anyway, great to be here,

{{hugs to all}}

No, I haven't seen any season 4 - but I've read up on what I could find. I don't know anyone who keeps tape archives or anything, though, and I probably wouldn't have time now anyway, with work and school.

I'll keep my eyes peeled, though!

Introduce myself, introduce myself...hmmm...not sure what to say: "Cause I'm...shy." Heh, 2nd favorite line in that 3rd season ep Dopplegangland.

OK, I saw BTVS the first time while switching channels during commercials a few years ago & decided it was better than what I was watching. I think it was Becoming Part 2.

I don't watch Angel because I think the Scooby gang *makes* the show. And I've lurked/posted on a few boards enough to be amazed at the season 4 hatred - I didn't enjoy the Initiative/Adam storyline, but it was a great year for Aly/Willow.

And, yes, I *knew* something was up when Tara clasped hands with Willow to move that pop machine: I got a warm quiver in my stomach and thought "Are they (TPTB) gonna do what I think they're gonna do?" Yeah, baby!

You see, whenever I watch an ensemble show, I *expect* that at least one of the characters will be gay or bi or questioning or transitioning. If it isn't shown, I pick a likely one & wait. This attitude started when I wrote a paper in college on The Appearance Of Gay Characters In American Television. At the time there were only two. Now there are too many for me to be a one-pup GLAAD anymore, so I'm farming the work out to others (Will & Grace, ER, etc).

I just try to keep up on stuff, due to my love/hate relationship with mass media, and watch what seems interesting.

I am a pretty big buffy fan and have been watching since day one. It actually happend quite by accident. I was walking home and listening to the radio and a commercial came on for it and i was shocked they that made buffy into a series--of all the obscure movies, right? well i was shocked at how much fun it was! I was on the same page as buffy. When i looked at the other two WB shows i watched on a regular basis, the creek (lol) and felicity, i noticed that dawsons creek was like a year or two behind me and felicity was a year ahead, but buffy was right there w/ me. We entered senior year of high school together, went to the prom together, we graduated together, we destroyed the evil mayor together...oh wait that was a day dream i had. so yeah...

I didnt become a big willow fan untill about season 2. I love her and tara! When i heard there was a comic coming out that was just about the witchy poos we love, i decided to see if there were any fan pages and stuff for fans of the couple and its great to see that there are. lol, take that "willow and oz forever" people! lol (^_^) (not that i didnt love oz!) I also found out my sisters fav characters are willow and tara too.

so thats me!

I liked Willow from episode one and though I once was a W/X shipper I now like them both where they are. Amber is gorgeous and she and Alyson have some real chemistry on screen.

I something of a spoiler slut. My all-consuming passion is the mind-bending "Restless". I'm also a compulsive speculator.

And now... some gratuitous smilies

I'm sorry for not having introduced myself earlier, but as someone has already said, shy people tend to do that...
My name is Luciene and I'm 27 years old. I'm a Brazilian EFL teacher (which makes me even more self-conscious about my typing errors...)
I love this board because I love to talk and to read about Willow and Tara. They're absolutely sweet and I was very (pleasantly) surprised when I learned that Willow had fallen for a girl (do you remember when she had a crush on Xander?). But, when I got to know Tara, I understood it completely.
They are airing the last episodes of the fourth season and on Tuesday I'll be watching the Yoko Factor. But I love to read spoilers; in fact, I enjoy reading the scripts that are on-line. (Tommo, if you're reading this, now you know that I haven't watched "Family" yet, just read the script; I was too saddened by it to admit it...). Anyway, the fifth season will be airing March 6 and I can hardly wait.
What a long introduction for such a shy girl! Well, one more thing about me: my girlfriend really likes you people, because I'm always pestering her about W/T and she isn't even a fan - she needs a break.
It's good to be here.

Hello Everyone, I've been a lurker on this board for some time now. The only person I know on this board is April, whom I've e-mailed before. I remembered that I started lurking before "Hush" is broadcasted here in Singapore. Even after "Hush", I was unsure if I'm a fan of theirs or not, but as each ep progressed, I began to see that their relationship is not so simple afterall.
"New Moon Rising" was just broadcasted here and sad to say, many parts were censored out, and the show was at the 10pm time slot. I think you guys can guess which parts were censored out. It included the famous "Extra Flamey" scene at the end. All we saw was Willow hugging Oz and then the credits started...
Anyway, as I was rambling on...I would just like to delurk on this board and make some posts.

Ok, Short and sweet, I can do it, computers scare me, but I'm very much into this W/T site (it's very addictive isn't it!) so here goes...
I'm quite shy so you might not here from me too often but you've made me feel very welcome so far. I'm 19 and live in Birmingham, England. I'm studying Drama at sixth form (still!) and hope to do the same at university.
I've been into Buffy since mid-season three, and have since caught up by buying all the boxsets and becoming addicted to the show (I NEVER miss an episode!)
I don't own a internet-connected computer, so I use a friend's (another reason why you won't here fom me to often!)
I stumbled upon this site, which is cool because I totally agree with the W/T relationship and think Josh Whedon is a great man for the way he's handling it!
OK, that's enough now, my short and sweet's turn into long and boring (sorry I waffle when I'm nervous!)
Thanx for making me feel welcome and I'll speak to you soon!
Bye bye.
W&T Fan posted 02-16-2001 02:00 EST (US)

Hi all !
Yup...the extra flamey scene is not the only one they censored...
The censors are very strict here. Any same sex kissing, declaration of love, anything, is a nono here, regardless of the timeslot it is show.
I think when "Family" is shown here near the end of the year, we'll get only 30 mins worth of an ep.
Sad, isn't it ?

Puff posted 02-16-2001 02:27 EST (US)
W&T fan, does this mean that you don't get to see any of the episodes uncut? If you miss out on the full episode of 'Family' it would be a real shame. In the uk they show btvs twice in an early slot and late but uncut on a different day. If you can't get the videos of the episodes you want then contact me and I'll see what I can do!
tasha posted 02-16-2001 06:07 EST (US)
censorship...

when i go home to visit (not to singapore, but to a nearby place) i hardly bother watching anything on television...there is no point. It's not even same sex stuff that they censor..but you'll be lucky if you see more than a peck on the cheek in a hetero scene..

Also..any bit of dialogue that suggests "sex" is normally cut unless of course it's an innuendo that the censors didn't understand or pick up on..
Ironically, violence gets passed the censors no problem...and on the news, they are more than happy to show us footage of all the dead bodies strewn across the battlefields or ones resulting from horrifying car accidents.

i think it's ridiculous...first of all lets point out that most good shows are shown after 10pm (when children presumably are in bed) - Charmed is aired at 11:40pm!! , secondly, they snip programs to bits, and you haven't got a clue what's going on, whole lines of dialogue and silenced out and they cut everything from small kisses to the tamest of sex scenes and so on
- it's insulting...it suggests that the government feels that the adults in these countries are incapable of making up there minds as to what is right and wrong and does not allow them to chose what they want to watch on television. I mean, god forbid, these adults will see a sex scene and run out and have sex themselves !
Oh...and same sex relationships - they're kinda illegal.

Wow..sorry if i rambled...it just really gets to me and is one of the main reasons that i will never live in the country where i was born.

suddenly the WB and their decisions don't sound that bad huh ? oh..and sorry if this veered off topic in the introductions thread...i'll shut up now

Well, here they mostly and mainly censor same sex stuff..they can do almost anything they want for hetero couples...and yes, they do censor some gore and bloody stuff...

April, I'm surprised you still remember me
And yup, it's something about USEnet.
You're wrong about the flaming spell though...heh...they didn't censor that...hehe...or maybe they didn't get it, so... Seems that they don't like it show obviously. Maybe hints are okay, but not when it's show right in the face.

i also like xena and star trek voyager, and when they both end this season, im going to have a little empty space in my heart. *snif* willow and tara will be all thats keeping me going next year...

lets see... well, i do a little magic of my own... i study kung fu, very seriously and intensely, actually... so i can confirm that most of the craziest stuff youve seen buffy do on the show, its not so far-fetched. im about her size, and we do alot of actual fighting (read: heavy contact, no protective equipment) at our school, and ive learned that power comes from energy, speed, focus... not from big muscles. my advice: NEVER underestimate the little guy, because its the invisible stuff inside that will knock you on your @ss. my current feat that i am working up to is some chi gung stuff... holding my body up parallel to the floor, supported by cinder blocks at my shoulders and heels, and having a cinder block placed on my chest and stomach and then broken with a sledge hammer. it might sound weird and barbaric, but trust me, its *really* cool, and not as hard as you might think. well, if youve practicing at it for three years.

so anyone into martial arts, get in touch! we can chat it up.

and also, the kittens on this board are great... you actually have really interesting conversations, its always fun to come read whats going on...

take care... rocketdyke

Hi rocketdyke! Happy de-lurking!

I also thought that Willow should have a gf earlier in the show ... season 2 I think. But I wanted to be her gf LOL. I am glad that she and Tara take good care of each other. They are the cutest couple.

Ok, so it seems today's the big tired-of-just-lurking-so-here-I-go day.... So, here I am. I'm Rose (FrenchRose is mainly to avoid having people blaming me for stuff another 'Rose' might have done or said.. on the other hand, if you're looking to thank or reward a 'Rose', well stop searching! That's me! I'm the one! Gimme!) Ok, now you all know I have a very very scary idea of what's funny - though it's like 6 am here, so bare with me, please - other than that, I'm 19, french (obviously)and I'm suffering from a bad case of Willow/Tara addiction.
Oh, and a bit of "Oh God, oh God, Amber smile! Amber eyes! Amber 'Sophomore Level Psychology' voice! " and such. Somehow I feel you guys won't judge me.
I've been watching Buffy since... should I say day 3 instead of day 1, cause I missed the first two eps... - and I must say without Aly, Amber and Joss, I probably wouldn't have remained such a fan : I was utterly disappointed with season 3, so when the 4th started, I thought 'Guys this is your last chance'. And I'm still here, thanks to our wiccagirls and JW. Anyway, I'm sure everybody already hates me - this post's way too long - so I'll stop here.

Can't wait to talk with you folks a lot more ; take care.

Hi Everyone

Thank you Xita for already welcoming me, but I thought I would accept your invitation to tell you a bit about myself (Not that it's very interesting!)

Okay well, I live in the UK, I'm 36 years old and I work in Banking (please don't hold that against me!!) although I should say that I thoroughly hate my job and can't wait until I leave.

Although I'm 36 my friends would probably tell you that I act as though I'm 12, which is okay, I guess(?)

I am completely in awe of Willow and Tara I realised when they met that it was going to be a beautifully crafted romantic relationship and Joss, Aly and Amber certainly haven't disappointed us! And as for the pictures that were posted yesterday, all I can say is WOW!!!! I can't wait until we see the episode over here.

Okay, well I guess that's my lot!

Love and Hugs to you all!

Hello! I found this Board by way of the Drop the Chalupa Board. I loved the kiss, the silent "I love you", mmmmm. Anyway, I'm older than most of you (45), live in Virginia with my gf (we've been together almost eight years, but we're having major problems...things are very rocky ), have three dogs, etc., etc. Am obsessed with ER's Kerry and Kim, but Willow and Tara are a new pleasure. Hope to get to know some of you better.

Anyway, I live in Southern California (probably a couple hours away from Sunny D.) I'm 36, married, have two kids (one from her previous marriage) and two cats (named Xander and Ozma -- originally Oz, but then it turned out to be a girl. Who knew?)

I've loved BTVS from episode one, and have always felt Willow was the *spice* of the series that was missing from the feature film. I have to admit, I did not pick up on any "subtext" during the laundry-room scene in Hush, but after a few episodes I got it. It still amazes me that Joss, Aly and Amber were brave enough to do this -- wonderful people! My wife rolls her eyes and mutters something about "male fantasies about lesbians" but she is supportive of W/T, just not as vocal. She loves in the show in general, too.

Gotta go! Love this board.

Hey.

I've lurked here on this fabulous board for awhile, but after the angsty/happy Tuesday ep, I figured it was time to come out of hiding.

I adore Willow/Tara; they truly are why I watched the show. I was only an occasional, once-in-awhile Buffy watcher before Tara appeared, and then I was hooked. I love Tara. I love Amber Benson. I wish I had a Tara in my life, but alas, not yet.

Hi!
I'm a 30-ish guy from Massachusetts, liked the much-maligned movie, been watching the show from the start, and I've always thought Alyson Hannigan was the best-looking actress on the show, and Willow the most appealing character. She's got some serious competition now from Amber, though, and I've been a fan of the Willow/Tara relationship since Hush.
I lurk at the Bronze and related sites from time to time, and I used to be slightly active at Hannigan.com back in WeirdArchive's W/T Denial Phase (which lasted about a year, as I recall )

hey fellow kittens! i found this board earlier in the week and i have fallen in love with it, i get online every chance i get so i can read everyone's comments on the show and w/t.
a little about myself... i would like to explain my name: tara*goat. my name is actually tara and goat is the sign of my zodiac, capricorn. i am 17 and i live in ohio and i'm female. i am gay but still in the closet except to my closest friend and now to all of you. and i am single (and my claddaugh ring points the tip of the heart out just to prove that), waiting for my own willow or tara to come along. i know they are out there somewhere. i have been a buffy addict since sesson 1, episode 1. to all my friends i am know as the buffy encyclopedia, i read my watchers guides (vol. 1 & 2) religiously. i would have to say that my obsession with the show increased when willow met tara in "hush". i knew instantly that something would happen between those two. i think they are the cutest couple that has ever been on the show.
i have been posting on the aol board for awhile but this one is better. everyone here is so supportive of the relationship and a lot of you want to join in and i don't blame you. i love every scene with w/t, joss and the other writers have done everything so briliantly : big hug for each of you:, especially this past tuesdays episode. "the body" has to be the one of the greatest episodes for w/t, tara is a very silently strong character and she was totally there for willow.

Hey, everyone, intro time! Sean, 27 years old, from Connecticut. Have been a fan of W/T since Who Are You, when I started watching Buffy regularly. I'm also a Buffy/Faith, Xander/Anya, and Angel/Cordy shipper.

Have written one Buffy fic with Anya and Tara chatting (on Extra Flamey), and one Buffy/Faith fic (on Faith Rocks), which is unfinished as sadly every time I try to write Part 4 it starts to suck. (Let's face it, having Faith and Buffy give long, tear-filled monologues is just a *smidge* out of character). But I'll keep plugging at it.

Found the board via the W/T egroups page, and am pleased to see that it's one big Happy World Land. ^_^

Oh, and in response to another thread, nope, not gay. :-D

Hey everyone - well, you've all been so nice to me in your patient replies to my questions about when willow and tara actually crossed the line from friendship to something (wondefully) more that i thought i would introduce myself properly.

I love the writing on buffy, and i've sort of watched it every now and then since it began. But when Willow and Tara got together - not just xena type subtexty together but completely in love together - i became a huge, buge fan. They are just so cute together. And i think i may have mentioned earlier that its the type of relationship i would love to have. Hey, i think they're both equally cute - i would love someone like either one of them :-)

On the more dull topic of myself - i am an aussie (nice to meet others here) i'm doing postgraduate work that is sort of touching on the stolen generation (government-sponsored forced removal of aboriginal children from their parents) which is very depressing. So its great to have something like willow and tara to cheer me up! And that's about it really. Hope that wasn't all too boring.
Thanks again - you're all very nice here.

Well, I'm Mandy and I'm 19 years old. I'm a college freshman at UC Davis, but I'm actually from SoCal in an LA suburb. I miss home!

I'm totally in love with the Willow/Tara relationship! Not to mention the fact that I also love Aly Hannigan and completely love and adore Amber Benson!!! I'm kinda new to the whole Buffyverse, so pardon me if I don't know some stuff. I've been watching on and off ever since the beginning, but it hasn't been until this season when I started obsessing about the show. A large part of that has to do with Willow & Tara. I saw the back hug in 'Real Me' and immediately fell in love with them!

Anyway, I hope to get to know y'all through our common love for W&T. Some of you may already know me from the Essence of Amber forum, so hi to you guys! Anyway, I better stop before I keep rambling and take up too much space. See y'all around. Ciao, dudes!

What an awesome board!! I decided to just bite the bullet and register (i've got nothing better to do on this Sunday morning I guess..)

I'm a 23 year old computer techno geek working for a web design firm in big bad NYC (I'm sure i'll be out of a job by next week). I was turned onto Buffy by my mother (believe it or not) who was a major fan long before I knew the pleasure. I was sucked in last season just as the whole Willow/Tara "we are the cutest couple in the history of the universe" lovefest began.

I decided to abandon the whole Xena/Gabrielle "we love each other but our producers are too scared to admit we are actually lovers" and support a show who's creator actually had the b*lls (hey, i'm a new yorker..sue me) to let his characters declare loud and proud ... "hello gay now!"

I love Alyson! I lust after Amber! (they don't make girls like that here And hopefully, one day I'll put my NYU film BFA to good use and well, work for Mutant Enemy.

And then, I WILL RULE THE WORLD! Ha, ha.. oh wait, did i say that out loud. Sorry.

Ahem. Anyway, I will shut up now!

I'm a 29 y.o. geophysics grad student in Boston, about to defend my PhD in a month so I'm spending 12+ hours a day on the computer typing up my thesis. Coming over to this board to check in on the chatter is a welcome break, you guys are too funny sometimes!
I *wish* I'd been watching Buffy from the beginning but I've only watched since Tara came on the scene. My sister in San Fran does Buffy pot-lucks every week with her friends and insisted I had to watch NMR. BTVS has now taken over that place in my heart I had reserved for Xena and Voyager, I can't wait for re-runs on FX.
Willow is such a great character, she's the only lesbian nerd I know. My circle of lesbian friends are gathered from the rugby/softball/flag-football scene, mostly jocks, no nerds. Among my scientist friends I'm the token lesbian, among my lesbian friends I'm the token nerd. I'm also originally from Australia, even after ten years in the States I'm still figuring out the culture. Sometimes I feel like I don't really fit in anywhere... but I find myself wandering over to this board n times a day, where n is a very large number maybe I've found somewhere I fit in?
