Your childhood crush?

Postby JustSkipIt » Thu Aug 02, 2007 7:36 pm

Ok. Most lesbians I know can remember the woman they had a crush on as a child. It's probably partially age-determined but...

For me it was Lindsay Wagner but Kate Jackson was a close second. I have a friend who's first childhood crush was Laura Bush. No really, she was the librarian at my friend's elementary school.

My best friend[at the time]. They let us shower together. I need not say anymore.

Olivia Newton-John!!! :heart

I begged my mother to let me see Grease, and she was hesitant because I was only 5 or 6 and it was PG-rated. The power of my love for Olivia Newton-John must have overwhelmed her, because she finally agreed. It was playing at the drive-in, too, of all awesome places to see a movie. God, I was over the moon when I found out she was going to take me to see it. I remember being hysterical with joy. lol, I loved Xanadu, too. A lot. A whole lot.

I don't think I've come across many lesbians who didn't crush on Julie Andrews. I remember seeing Mary Poppins and being kind of disappointed that it wasn't basically The Sound of Music 2.

Yes to Lindsay Wagner! Yes to Kate Jackson (by FAR my favorite Angel)! Yes to Linda Carter, too. I looooved Wonder Woman.

(Um...and yes to Shaun Cassidy! He was so pretty, he should count!)

As for people I actually knew in real life, I only had eyes for the assistant troop leader of my Brownie troop. She was a real Girl Scout! I am pretty sure I made my love for her blatantly obvious and, to everyone's credit, they didn't give me a hard time about it.

Very fun thread!

I had two at the same times:

Emma Peal (the Advendgers, not the movie but the real show... mmmmm)
And a woman who was in charge of a group almost every afternoon in my school. We had to chose every months a group... And once I have met her, I always did in sort of ending in her group. I even went to a center during spring break just to see her every day... but she didn't work in my school but in a center for ever other centers in the forest.... well I managed to get there for the 3 days trip my center did... I was the only one being more than 7 (I was 10) but I didn't care. She was there... And she did like me. Not in that way of course. And I didn't know all the extent of me liking her. Just that I spent every day 15 Francs in candies for her, I bought cards of Michael Jackson for her, I organized a sort of party in the school for her birthday... Well lets just say I was all over her. Almost 8 years later I saw her, knowing all the extent of my feelings now, and I was very disappointed... Child memories can be so wrong. lol

The hills were alive with lil' Cam falling in full smit with Julie Andrews. *sigh*

While I always ending up playing the Kate Jackson role when my sister, best friend and I played Charlie's Angels, I had the biggest crush on Cheryl Ladd. Then there was Kristy MacNichol and Jodie Foster circa Candleshoe and Bugsy Malone (and well...everything since).

Thanks for owning up to Shaun Cassidy, Holley, and I was right there with you. I'm going to chalk that one up to his girliness now (thanks!)...that's a good excuse for all those damn Tiger Beat posters.

Disclaimer: this is Cam posting on Angela's behalf, but she's the one fessing up.

First crush was at the tender age of 5 on a neighbor and, while listening to Olivia Newton John on the radio, they decided that boys were dumb and they'd marry each other when they grew up. *Cam's note: HA! You're stuck with ME!*

Others: Jodie Foster, Isabella Rosellini, Gillian Anderson, and all the TV tomboys: Valerie Bertinelli on One Day at a Time; Alyssa Milano on Who's the Boss?; Punky Brewster. *Cam's note: Punky Brewster??? Oh, man, I'm a cradle robber!*

At the time I didn't realize it but after viewing re-runs of Bionic Woman on Sci-Fi I began thinking of Lindsey Wagner a lot. Then BBC showed re-runs of THE AVENGERS and ...........wow!! I see both ladies are already mentioned here so I feel right at home. Alyson Hannigan appeals to me also. I like her vulnerability. So I guess I'm not one to exclusively have the hots over only one person.

I was really young (about 7 or 8). It was one of the earlier seasons of Boy Meets World (maybe even the first season, I'm not really sure) but I seen Topanga and couldn't think of anything else. I didn't know it wasn't the average and my parents thought she was like my rolemodel. I still fell embaressed about that.

LMAO! I just saw this topic for the first time, glanced at the poll, saw Julie Andrews, and thought "Yup!" Then I read the title - "Who was your first girl-on-girl crush on?" I'm a guy, so it's the right answer to the wrong question :smug

For me it was Karen Allen in 'Raiders of the Lost Ark', her and Princess Leia. This led me to having a very confused gender identity as a child - I thought I wanted to be Harrison Ford...

First time my heart really went kaboom-y everytime I saw a girl... It was a redheaded assistant teacher, just 5 years older than me.

Had two slight crushes on Spice Girl Melanie C and on my history teacher before that, they were totally cute too.

It was Sigourney Weaver in 'Alien 3' who changed mine...I used to snog boys (ew!) and imagine that they were her...

Jennifer Connelly in Labyrinth was my first real crush. But, I didn't realize that I liked girls until I became infatuated with Rachel Bella (The Ring, Drive Thru, Jimmy and Judy, etc) when I was 14.

Looking back I'd say Kelly Kapowski/Tiffani Theisen (from 5 or 6 until I was about 10) or my after-school care teacher Ms. D (from 6 or 7 until I was 9 and she left our school. I was crushed), but the only ones I was aware of when I was little were on my friends, I think the first was when I was 7. I vaguely remember one playing a game where we layed on top of each other and pretended to be boys, except I was pretty glad it was her...

Mine was Gabrielle, the singer. I can't remember how old I was exactly.
Even my mum noticed. She said if she came on the TV I would stop whatever I was doing, run over and sit down in front of it. I would ignore everyone and everything until she was gone, then carry on with whatever I was doing.
I was a strange child. :')

Note: I think I also had a thing for Scary Spice haha :).
