Feedback: Pretty Please???
Distribution: I'll most likely say yes, but email me to let me know first.
Pairings: W/T (They're the main focus, but some X/A may sneak in)
Rating: For now I'll give the fic a general R-rating. Most parts will probably be more PG-13 though. If it ventures into NC-17 category, I'll make sure and indicate such.
Content Warnings: Starts off nice enough, but trauma and violence will be an issue in later parts.
Disclaimer: Willow and Tara and all the other Buffy characters belong to Joss Whedon and the gang... I swear I'm making no money and I promise to give them back after I'm done playing with them!
Summary: After the season 4 finale, Willow decides to come out to her parents. That's just the start of the trouble to come for our favorite couple.
Notes: This could be seen as a between-season fic, but I'm more-or-less going off on my own storyline after the events of season 4.
I haven't posted a fic in ages... I've got two up currently in the completed fics archive. I apologize for any typos, I've tried to catch them all but don't have a beta for the story, due to my inconsistency in keeping up with my writing.
Thoughts are in <....>
Now... onto the show! Enjoy, and let me know if I should bother continuing...

Only Love
Part 1/?
“Oh Goddess...” Willow flopped down onto her bed in her dorm room. “I think I could sleep for a week straight. Between the spell we did to stop Adam, and the first slayer who went all crazy-like and homicidal in our dreams the other week, and then our finals this last week...I’m exhausted.” She closed her eyes and sighed. Reaching out her arm, the corner of her mouth perked up. “C’mere baby. I want some snuggles...”
Tara reached back, entwining her fingers with her girlfriend’s. “You definitely n-need some rest Sweetie. It’s been a long couple of days for you...well, a long couple of w-weeks, for that matter.” She stretched out beside Willow on the bed and pulled the redhead into her arms. “You just get comfy and go to sleep.” As Willow drifted off, Tara gently stroked her girlfriend’s arms and placed butterfly kissed on her neck and face. Before she knew it, she too was falling asleep, wrapped up with Willow.
*Ring!*
*Ring!*
Willow’s body jumped slightly as her sleep was interrupted by the shrill ring of the phone. Rubbing her cheek against Tara’ shoulder she moaned. “Make it go away...”
Tara’s hand trailed up Willow’s back as she pulled the redhead close for a good-morning kiss.
*Ring!*
*Ring!*
“Mmm...Sweetie, do you want me to answer it?” Tara’s hand slowly rubbed her girlfriend’s shoulders.
“Hrmm...yeah...whatever...make it go away! I’m still sleepy.”
Glancing at the clock Tara wondered who would be calling at 9am on a Saturday. Shrugging, she rolled over and snatched the phone before it could ring again. “Hello?” Tara was greeted by what sounded like an older man who was asking for Willow.
“Yes sir, just a m-moment.” Turning back toward Willow, she held out the phone. “It’s for you Will.”
Willow rolled her eyes and took the phone. “Hello?...Oh, Good morning Dad.”
Tara began running her fingers through Willow’s silky hair, watching her girlfriend. She hoped nothing was wrong. She could see a slight look of impatience on Willow’s face as she continued speaking to her father.
“Just a friend, Dad. We, uh, were watching movies late last night to celebrate the end of finals and it was easier for her to stay here than go back to her dorm....I’ve had a hard couple of days, with school, so I decided to sleep in today. But don’t worry about it, I was getting ready to wake up anyways. Is everything alright?”
“Um...” Willow snuggled her head into the crook of Tara’s neck and reached out to hold her hand. Her father wanted her to come over for dinner...this wasn’t what she needed right now after the whole Adam debacle. She had planned on having a Tara and Willow snuggles day to recuperate. “Sure. What time should I come over?”
“Okay. 6:15...I’ll be there... Bye Dad.” Willow glared at the phone before passing it to Tara so it could be hung up.
Tara’s thumb brushed over Willow’s cheek. “What is it honey?”
“Uugh. Mom and Dad want me to come over for dinner tonight.”
“And?” Willow seemed upset. “What’s the matter?” Her arms pulled the redhead against her body tightly.
“Mmm...that feels good baby. The problem is that they always do this. They’re out on business for more of the year than they are here...even when I was in high school it was like that. They barely pay me any notice, but when they want me to do something I’m expected to drop everything and conform to their schedule. Aargh!” Willow blew a stray piece of hair out of her face. “It’s just so frustrating!”
The blonde pushed herself up slightly and placed a soft kiss on Willow’s lips. “I’m sorry. What did you have in mind for tonight?”
“Er...well...” Willow felt herself blushing. “Nothing...exactly. I just wanted to spend all day reveling in the goody-good-goodness that is you.” She ran her hand across Tara’s stomach making the blonde suck in a sharp breath.
“Vixen.” Tara’s lopsided grin sent a wave rushing through her body. “Well...Will...since our day of snuggles has been cut short, we’d better get a move on then.”
Tara pushed herself up on her arms so that she was hovering over her girlfriend. Sitting up so that she was straddling Willow’s thighs, the blonde slowly began unbuttoning Willow’s shirt. Willow watched her lover seductively undressing her and nearly melted right then and there.
In no time at all, the two women were moaning, moving against each other as they let their bodies touch and react, participating in the dance as old as time itself. A combination of actions and reactions, they thrust and filled and let their emotions flow free.
Willow closed her eyes, basking in the energy flowing between her and Tara as they slowly recovered. This was Willow’s favorite part of making love with Tara; the calm right after the storm. Sure, she would never tire of the feeling of Tara’s warm, moist walls clenching her fingers as she falls over the edge, but the moment after was bliss...It was almost as if through their lovemaking, Willow was able to completely connect her soul with Tara’s, and the calm afterwards was when they let all that they had, all that they were, flow through that connection.
Tara opened her eyes and let her gaze rest lovingly on her Willow. “Goddess, Willow...what you do to me...”
Willow grinned haphazardly and wiggled her eyebrows. Pressing their lips together, she let herself lie next to Tara. “See...now don’t you agree that the interruption of my all-day-snuggling plan is a tragedy?”
Tara paused dramatically, appearing to think. Rolling over on top of Willow, she trailed kisses down the pale skin of her stomach. “Oh...I don’t know sweetie...It’s only...10:45 in the morning...you’d be amazed at how... good I am... at making use... of the time... I’m given.”
About 2 pm, Willow and Tara decided that they were hungry enough that the situation warranted them getting dressed and finding nourishment. Of course, with their impromptu joint shower, the process took a bit longer than planned, but eventually they made it out of the dorm. Sitting down at the table with her sandwich, Tara noticed a look on Willow’s face; it was the look that meant that the redhead’s brilliant brain was on overdrive.
“What’cha thinking about?”
Tara’s voice snapped Willow back to the present. “I want to come out to my parents...I want them to know about you...about us.”
Setting down her lunch, Tara turned her attention fully to the redhead by her side. “Are you sure?” They’d spoken of this periodically; Willow had a feeling that her parents might have problems, at least initially, with their only child being gay. It had been decided that they would wait until the time was right to tell them.
Willow nodded and took Tara’s hand. “Baby, I’m in love with you...and after the past few weeks, with Faith and Adam...the fact that we don’t know how long we really have in life has been thrust in my face. I don’t want anything to happen to you or I or my parents without them having had the chance to know the truth about me, and to get to know you. It might be difficult, but I know that if they really get to know you, they’ll love you...you’re very loveable. You’re my Tara. You’re my everything.”
Not caring who saw, Tara pulled her girlfriend towards her for a kiss. Resting their foreheads together, she smiled gently. “And you’re my Willow. I love you too. Whatever you end up doing, I’ll support you, you know that.” The remainder of their lunch passed by in quiet thought, Willow wondering how on earth she was going to do this, and Tara praying to the Goddess that Willow’s parents would not freak out.
Willow walked into her childhood home right at 6:15. She was usually a very punctual person, but when she was nervous, she tended to be even more so. “Mom, Dad, I’m here!” She shrugged off her coat, leaving in hanging on the rack and walked toward the kitchen, knowing that’s where her mother would be preparing dinner. “Hey Mom.”
“Willow! It’s so good to see you again. Between your busy college life and mine and your father’s hectic traveling schedule, we don’t see each other enough. Thank goodness we were able to squeeze in this dinner! Your father and I are leaving again in a few hours to go to Australia for a conference. It’s going to be a fantastic trip. Did you do something to your hair?” Sheila Rosenberg ran her fingers through her daughter’s red hair for a moment after releasing her from a hug.
“Uh, yeah, I’ve been keeping it shorter this school year...easier to deal with and all.”
“It looks nice.”
“Thanks. Do you need any help finishing dinner?” Willow already knew what her mother’s response would be, but she felt obliged to ask anyways.
“No honey, I’m fine. Go say hi to your father. He’s in his study.”
Walking down the hallway, Willow couldn’t help but feel a sadness wash over her. Despite the fact that this was the house she grew up in, she felt no real tie to it whatsoever. It was just a place, a building, in which she had been alone more and more often as the years went by. “Dad?” She poked her head in her father’s study. “Hey Dad, I’m here. Dinner’s almost ready.”
Ira stood up and gave his daughter a brief hug. “Glad you could come tonight. Shall we go eat?”
Dinner itself was a pleasant affair; Willow caught her parents up with how the past school year had gone, and her parents talked about their most recent lecture tours. Willow hadn’t realized that as the dinner had gone by, she’d gotten quieter while contemplating how to tell her parents the “big news” she had. As everyone was taking their dishes in the kitchen, Sheila placed a hand on her daughter’s shoulder. “Are you okay honey? You’ve gotten awfully quiet.”
Willow carefully placed her plate in the sink and turned to face her mom. “Um, actually, there is something I have to talk to you and Dad about. Could we, uh, maybe go sit down in the living room?”
Sheila glanced at Ira, but he shook his head indicating he didn’t know what was going on either. “Uh, sure. Let’s go sit down.”
Staring at her hands, Willow could feel her stomach cramping up. “Um...I, uh, don’t really know where to start...” She gave her parents a nervous smile. Sheila smiled back, trying to encourage her daughter.
“Well,” Willow took a deep breath, “I wanted to tell you that I’ve fallen in love...” She was going to go on, but her mother jumped up.
“Oh! Willow! That’s wonderful. I know you broke up with that musician earlier this school year...but I didn’t realize you were dating again. What’s his name? How did you meet? He’s not another musician is he?”
“Uh--no, no musician, Mom, and actually, um...no He, either. Her-Her name’s Tara, Tara Maclay.” Glancing up from the spot on the floor where her eyes had been riveted the entire time, Willow saw her mother first show a look of momentary confusion, then shock. Her father didn’t seem to show much of any emotion, but that wasn’t anything new. “I--I didn’t go looking for this relationship. I wasn’t expecting it. I know I’ve always dated guys, but I met Tara, and we started hanging out a lot, and she’s just the most amazing...kind, gentle, compassionate, giving, beautiful person. After awhile I realized that I had feelings for her, and she felt the same way. We’re in love...I’ve never felt this way about anyone before...it’s different from how Oz and I were. It’s...it’s the most amazing thing I’ve ever felt, really.”
“Willow.” That one word, her name, stopped Willow’s long-winded explanation. “Are you telling us that you are in a lesbian relationship?”
Willow didn’t like the way her father worded that question. “Yes, I am. And it’s not just this relationship, I--I am a lesbian.”
“Don’t be ridiculous, honey. You’re at that point in your life where it’s very normal for people to experiment. That’s what college is all about.”
The redhead’s mouth quickly turned into a deep frown, and she tried to stop herself from getting angry. “Mom...This is not just an experiment. It just took me until now to realize that I’m happier with women than with men. With Oz...it was nice, but there was something missing, something I couldn’t put my finger on. But Tara...she completes me.”
“Willow,” Mr. Rosenberg spoke again. “You’re rushing to conclusions...like your mother said, college is about trying new things, and that’s ok. But you’re not a lesbian. You were raised in a normal home with two parents that love you. You got everything you needed. You were never abused...there’s no reason for you to think that you’re a homosexual.”
Now Willow was beginning to lose her temper. “Reason?! I need a reason for being gay? Mom, Dad, you’re intelligent people. Don’t you understand that it’s not a choice?! It’s just who I am. Pressure from society and school...and you...may have kept me from seeing my true self sooner, but Tara has opened my eyes. I’m happier with her than I’ve ever been. I’m in love, and that’s not going to change. I can honestly see myself spending the rest of my life with this woman.”
“Willow...” Sheila broke in. “You...you’re just not seeing the big picture, honey. You can’t be gay...you’re just not that type of person. You’re a normal young woman who grew up loving dolls and everything else normal little girls love. We love you, really, we do, but you can’t be gay. It may be acceptable for some people, but you were raised differently.”
That was it. Willow could see that she wasn’t going to get through to her parents, at least not tonight. “Mom, Dad...I’m sorry, but I need to leave before I lose my temper. I’m sorry if I’m...a disappointment...but this is who I am. This is me. I-I’m Willow Rosenberg, your one and only daughter, I’m a computer whiz, and I’m afraid of horses and-and frogs, I’m a horrible singer, and I also happen to be a lesbian. Ya know, I really don’t think that’s such a bad thing. If you can’t accept that...then I’m sorry. I was hoping that you could get to know Tara...see how wonderful she is. I’m going to go now...please think about this, and let me know if you decide to be the loving, accepting parents you claim to be.” At that, Willow turned and grabbed her coat, leaving the house.
After Willow climbed in her car, she just sat there and took several deep breaths.
*****End Part One*****
Hope you all enjoyed that. Please Please Please let me know what you think! I have lots more to come if you so desire.
(Edited to fix the title)
I can't wait to read more. I'm looking forward to the lovebirds' night out. I cannot begin to imagine how hard it was for Willow to come out to her parents. The upside: She has never had a close relationship with her parents, so if they continue to go against her decision, it won't be as bad. Hopefully not! But.....I'm sure that Tara can find a few ways to make Willow feel better.

Great update
