And a prize for the lady!

Yes, Dumbsaint and I are referring to the video from Amber's Stuff shoot when she tells of the fun she and Aly had with the candles of the Magic Box set. Apparently, they decided that three candles provided the proper thickness for their phallic fantasies. Hmmm.

Edited because I ALWAYS make a typo! #$*%

Uggghhhhh!

Now I am thinking I didn't want to know this. Bad thoughts leave my mind. I think I need to go back to Autumn's limerick thread for so good sapphic imagery.

Thank you Xita. The quality is amazing, gorgeous, and that of the scans as well.
Seriously, thanks, I know that took time and effort, not made any easier by my constant whining no doubt, but you did it.

*Sigh*

Great interview, great pics. I think Amber is fast becoming the equal of Alyson in terms of my estimation of loveliness!

Amber has a classic sort of beauty. She always reminds me of a film goddess or pinup girl from long ago, like Ingrid Bergman or Rita Hayworth.

During what's now called the Golden Age of Film, the late 30's thru early 50's, that look- full lips, "bedroom eyes," curvaceous figure, soft, smokey voice and the graceful way she moves would have doubtless made Amber a 'silver screen' movie star. Imagine how she would look filmed in black and white and dressed in a low-cut evening gown.

I just finally read this thread. Don't know why I skipped it before! Tasha, thanks so much for posting the interview, and Xita thanks for the pictures. It is wonderful and rare that we get to enjoy a young actress who is not only beautiful (those eyes! those lips! *swoon*) and talented, but also sincere, compassionate, funny, and truly worthy of respect. She is a very impressive young woman.

Hey there Xita,
Thanks for putting these up for all the kittens to see. I was hoping you would do something like that. That Amber, she's a looker!

Oooh, oooh, I finally got to look at these pics. Thanks xita.

Dear Lord, she's lovely. I like sultry Amber, you know? There's a certain look in her eyes that's kind of shivery and intimidating and just...well...you know.

Incidentally, I'd forgotten about the three candles conversation till I read this thread. Heh. Innocent. Right. That's why one of her favourite words begins with a 'c' and rhymes with 'shunt' is it? *snigger*

Oh I have, believe me. Many, many times. I completely concur with your assessment of Amber as a classic-film-goddess-type of beauty. And I know she said on at least one occasion that she would love to play a film noirish femme fatale kind of role...that would be sooooooooo cool.quote:

Thought people might be interested to know that in the March issue of A & U magazine, a couple of "Letters to the Editor" were sent regarding Amber's appearance in the January issue.

I've transcribed the two letters below:

As an avid fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I was pleased to see Amber Benson on the January cover. She seems like a person with her head on her shoulders. Even though she is not sexually active, she was able to speak eloquently about the need for HIV prevention among sexually active youth. In other words, choosing not to have sex did not bring an end to the conversation, but opened it up. Thank you, Amber and A& U!
-Jeanie

Not much gets me to write a letter, even in this age of e-mail. So consider yourselves in luck! No, really just wanted to drop a note and say that interview with Amber Benson was…interesting. I guess I have mixed feelings. She has strong views based on not a lot of experience. That's a big plus in my book- a good indication that we don't need to have people dying in droves (like we had in the eighties and early nineties) to have people get the message about AIDS. But I'm afraid that Amber Benson is a fluke. I'm afraid that people are no longer in crisis mode. Yes, watching your lovers and friends die – as I did- got me and a lot of people to take action, but now that deaths from AIDS-related illnesses have slowed way down in the U.S. we seem to have gone soft here. Yes, we volunteer and all but people are still dying in the rest of the world. We should still be in crisis mode, even if we can't "see" the crisis firsthand. President Bush wants us to improve the U.S. I say we have to improve the world. Amber is that rare person who sees beyond our borders and understands that we are part of a larger community- we need more of her.

Wow... That was worth coming for! Er... Looking at this thread. Gorgeous...
She looks so fantastic with her hair up... And showing of her neck. Ohhhh.

*daydreaming about Amber and Aly in old movie parts*
Hmmmmmmmmmmm

Does anyone know if there's a nice fantasy thread like that? Visualizing Aly and Amber in different, delicious roles? Mmmmmmm...
Amber with Veronica Lake hair...

Editing to add that I've done this very picture, but have nowhere to post it. I sent it to Dazey cause... well I couldn't be the only one to drool! If anyone can host it somewhere, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks absynthe for transcribing those letters. I was going to write one myself, thanking them for putting Amber on the cover, and then I didn't. I hate when I don't do stuff.

And concrete--aww yeah. Black-and-white Amberneck. Sigh.

Mmmmmm, indeed. As big a fan of Amberneck as I am, this idea has me very interested. There must be some shots of Amber with Veronica Lake hair...parted on the side, seductively covering one eye? I'm sure somebody can find one and, you know, '40s it up. Come on, you know you want to.
