I must say, I find myself vaguely concerned that they specifically choose Tara stuff to show being taken from her room. The crystal ball and Tarot cards are more Tara's things than anything we saw Willow messing with very often. So it kind of feels like they need to remove Tara from her life as much as magic, since the two are so inter-connected.

And mentioning candles like that just makes me think of NMR and how a candle was prominent in the scene that really brought them out on screen.

This is one of those problems with magic doing double metaphor duty as both the dangerous addiction and a symbol of their relationship. A scene like the one described when it's specifically Tara's stuff they are taking from her really connects the two in a way that I'm just thinking is really not of the good.

Ah, but from their perspective, Tara's not in Willow's life any more. Willow herself has said she doesn't even know if Tara would love a non-magical Willow.

There's more to Willow and Tara's relationship than just magic. It's high time everyone got to see that. What better way than to get rid of the magic paraphernalia and have Tara come back anyway?

Yes, it’s true that Willow and everyone else has to learn that their relationship is about more than magick, but because the two have been so intertwined, a lot of the sentimentality of their relationship is tied up with magickal things – the extra flamey candle, the doll’s eye crystal, the Flaming O, etc. It’s hard to just let that go, and I think, as a fan, it’s natural to want to cling to some of the items that will always represent Willow and Tara’s blossoming love.

Having said that, I agree with Bob that Buffy removing magickal stuff from Willow’s room doesn’t mean Tara isn’t coming back – it just means that when they reunite, the magick won’t be a main component of their relationship, and Willow will learn once and for all that Tara loves a non-magickal Willow just as much.

As has been mentioned 'o plenty around here, the events of Tabula Rasa showed that Willow and Tara have a deep connection and attraction that is NOT based on any particular history between them. They are just naturally, undeniably drawn to each other. I don't think they will have a problem connecting without the magick. Sorting through Willow's betrayal is another matter, but one which can, I think, also be dealt with. Willow is not evil. She was misguided and is able to feel deep remorse. Tara is a profoundly compassionate person capable of true forgiveness. It will not be an easy road for them, but I think that's the point.

Well, I'm not saying I take it as a way of them saying they aren't going to get back together. Actually, the more closely their relationship is tied into the story of her 'recovery' the better chance I see of them finding a way to work it out in the end.

The idea being, she works it out = they work it out. With it seeming more and more like the ultimate solution would be moderation.

What's bugging me, really is that by taking Tara's things away from her to keep her from 'temptation' sounds just a bit too much like magic/Tara = bad, or at least that she's a bad influence on Will even if she doesn't mean to be.

All I really hope is that they make it understood, in the long run at least, that the problem is really with Willow and not with magic itself. Having Tara use magic positively in upcoming eps could help accomplish that.

If the stuff was Tara's why didn't she take it with all her other things when she left?

I actually foresee a new version of 'Triangle' this year, with Xander, Tito and Will, and a giant wrench on the loose...

Rose, way tired...

Like that wrench Aly posed with?

As for Willow being gay, I thought it was just a college thing.

Yeah, I really hope that they back off from magic=bad, and play more with magic=power (which is more neutral, and can be used for good or bad)I have real issues with the magic as a drug metaphor, especially after them spending so much time developing magic as a metaphor for the 'ship itself and for Willow's sexuality. It's gonna be interesting to see how this plays out. I think it'll take the characters to some interesting places, and I'm hopeful for what it means for Willow and Tara's long-term roles in the SG, but I'm also kind of apprehensive about how the addiction storyline is being treated, and where they're going with it.

I hope that moving all the stuff isn't a metaphor for the total demise of Tara. A light-hearted episode will be nice though, S6 has made me cry so much... and again, no Tara now= more Tara later, so that's good.

At any rate, new eps make me happy.

Black magic=bad, frivilous use of magic=bad, over-usage of magic=bad. The thing about Willow and Tara using magic in regards to their relationship is that they were doing it TOGETHER. Helping each other, guiding each other. Lately Willow has been doing things on her own, magically. She really wasn't ready for it and now it's got a hold on her. She doesn't necessarily have to lose her magical ability... she just needs to find the right balance and I think Tara is the key to that.

The way Tara and Willow connected over magic doesn't have to lose it's significance. Magic isn't a bad thing. The way you choose to use it can be the bad thing. Like I have said before: season 4 showed their connection thru magic, season 5 was their emotional connection, and season 6 will be the season to show all non-believers that they can connect without the magic (ie Tabula Rasa was just a pre-cursor).

Tara dies spoilers/rumors? I shall take my cue from Vampire Willow and say, 'Bored now'. She's not going anywhere folks, except to the outstretched awaiting arms of her lady fair, Willow.

Tucker was the one who released the hell hounds to destroy the Prom in the Season 3 ep "Prom". Buffy had to stop the demons from ruining the big night. It was also the ep in which Angel broke up with her.
