The LA Kitten Gathering is still scheduled for next Saturday, December 8. It starts at 1:00pm with the Kitten Location Pilgrimage. First stop - Torrance High School, 2200 W. Carson Street in Torrance. Take the 110 Freeway to Carson, then go west for about two miles.
If you miss the Pilgrimage but still want to meet the Kittens, you can join us at Universal CityWalk. We'll be meeting at 4:00pm near the funky founain that squirts water up through holes in the sidewalk. That's also near Tony Roma's.
See you there!

Me: You know my grammer does not resemble Earth grammer.
My Friend: Right, cuz on Earth it's spelt 'grammar.'
I can make it to the Torrance H.S. via mass transit, but can I please get a promise from somebody to give me a ride through the Pilgramage? From Universal Walk its a quick train ride home, so I won't be a bother from there on. Please, please, please...email me at zahir@brainlink.com.

Any way we can sort of work out an itinerary and guide sort of thing for the Pilgrimage? Best routes to get from one to the next and all that? I'm a neurotic driver. I have to know these things.
It wouldn't be hard, really . . . Mapquest and all. Just gotta track down the sequence of locations we'll be visiting . . . then it's just a matter of plugging 'em in, I guess. Still, I did get lost several times on the way to Kenneth Hahn Park the last time, so I could stand to study a map.

"Will the future ever arrive? . . . Should we continue to look upwards? Is the light we can see in the sky one of those which will presently be extinguished? The ideal is terrifying to behold, lost as it is in the depths, small, isolated, a pin-point, brilliant but threatened on all sides by the dark forces that surround it; nevertheless, no more in danger than a star in the jaws of the clouds." -- Victor Hugo
"But threads that are golden don't break easily . . ." -- Tori Amos
For some reason, neither MapQuest nor Yahoo!Maps will let me post links for point-to-point routes. I'll post links for the locations themselves, then, and describe the routes as best I can.
Pilgrimage Stop #1 - Torrance High School
Take the 110 Freeway to Carson Street and go west. The school is at 2200 W. Carson, about two miles from the freeway. It's on the left-hand side of the street. You can't miss it.
Pilgrimage Stop #2 - Stoner Park
Take Carson west to Crenshaw, then north on Crenshaw to the 405 Freeway. Take the 405 North to the 10 Freeway West, then get off the 10 West at Bundy Drive. Take Bundy north to Missouri and turn right. The park will show up on the left-hand side of the street at Westgate.
Pilgrimage Stop #3 - Kenneth Hahn Park
Go back down Missouri and Bundy to the 10 Freeway, and take the 10 East back into LA. Take the Robertson/La Cienega exit into Culver City. This is where things get tricky, because the road changes names several times in the span of about a mile. Check your maps or your MapQuest or your Yahoo!Maps carefully. You'll want to end up turning south onto La Cienega. The park will be on your left, but the exit ramp is on the right. Take the ramp and turn left at the top to get into the park. Follow the main road, and you'll see the bridge down a hill to your right.
Pilgrimage Stop #4 - Rosedale Cemetery
Exit the park and go back up La Cienega to the 10 Freeway. Take the 10 East to the Normandie Avenue exit. Go north on Normandie to Washington Boulevard. The cemetery is on the northeast corner. Turn right onto Washington to get to the entrance.
Pilgrimage Stop #5 - 1335 Willow Street
Get back onto the 10 East (Buffy's favorite Freeway ). MapQuest and Yahoo!Maps seem to disagree on where to go from there. Personally, I think it's simpler to get off at Alameda and go north to 6th Street the way MapQuest says, but if I can't get the MapQuest link to work, you'll see a Yahoo!Maps route that takes you to Maple, 16th and San Pedro before you get to 6th. At any rate, you want to turn off 6th onto Mateo, which is just before 6th goes over the LA river and becomes Whittier Boulevard. Willow Street is the next block north on Mateo.
Pilgrimage Stop #6 - Church of the Angels
Again, MapQuest and Yahoo!Maps disagree. I prefer MapQuest, which says to go back to 6th, take 6th over the bridge so that it becomes Whittier Boulevard, then take Whittier to the 101 Freeway. Take the 101 North to the 110 Freeway. Yahoo!Maps has you go up Mateo to 4th Street and then onto the 5 Freeway, taking the 5 North to the 110 Freeway.
In either case, you want to take the 110 North to the Marmion Way exit. Turn left onto Marmion Way, which then becomes Avenue 64. The church will be on a hill on the right side of the road.
And that's the tour! From there we go to Universal CityWalk. Go back down the 110 South to the 101 Freeway, then take the 101 North until you see the signs for Universal Studios.
Got all that? See you on Saturday!

So, where are we regarding the Bay Area gathering? I don't think we'd decided on a date yet, but I know we'd talked about a trip to Tara's Willow Cafe, and possibly clubbing it later that night.
Here's where I am. We have 3 dates to choose from. January 19, 26 and February 2. These dates fall on Saturdays. Tara's Willow Cafe is closed on Sundays.
As far as the club aspect of the get together... it would be cool if someone else could organize that. I don't know diddly squat about clubs. ^^ So I'd be pretty useless in that department.

As far as dates, I'm fine with all of those; I will suggest (as I did for the LA gathering) that the 19th of January makes a nice choice since that is Buffy's birthday.
Anyway, those dates all work for me. I’d prefer one of the later dates (Jan. 26 or Feb. 2). But Jan. 19th would be neat considering it’s Buffy Was Born Day, and all.
As for the club stuff. I believe my previous offerings (Lexington, Café, White Horse) were deemed to small and crowded. More offerings can be viewed here.. Take your pick.
(btw, an email list is a good idea. Mine is littleimperfectme@yahoo.com)

Well, now that came out a lot more lesbian than it sounded in my head.
I'll go ahead and add you, imperfectly.
I don't have a problem with any of the dates listed. January 19 would be cute (for the Buffy connection).
We had a nice group of people interested in the gathering. But now that the post has moved everyone has been rather quiet.
Ah anyways. This was pointless. ^^
