Marti Noxon mentions Willow/Tara in The Advocate

AS easy as it is to get anxious about these things it's important to remember that Marti and Joss are (re: their characters) first and foremost storytellers and thus more likely to spread misleading rumors than anything remotely spoilery. What impresses me is that the show undoubtedly has the most lesbian-friendly writing staff in the industry.

In comparing how W/T have been presented to X/A, if i were a gambling girl i'd bet anything on w/t's prospects for long-term bliss over X/A. I keep recalling Anya's comment in OMWF:

Everything i've seen convinces me that Marti and Joss feel just the same way about W/T as we do. Up until the current arc they've made them the healthiest, most mature, and usually happiest relationship on the show; other couples have been pretty dysfunctional in comparison. (We should make them honorary Kittens!)

Now even people who were resentful or even hostile when Tara was first introduced are doubtless pining away, praying that our girls will get back together.

The idea of thousands of formerly clueless homophobes reduced to weeping and wailing at their tv screens, "Oh, Willow, how could you?" just shivers me timberless.

I'm not too worried about the article, I also think it sounded pretty good. I think it's hard to read into what Marti says, especially because she's trying not to spoil people..but I just wanted to pop in say that I think it really cool Marti has two moms!

I didn't get the sense that Marti's comments were negative. More that she was saying that W/T were going to have to deal with the same angst and issues that every couple on the show does. It had the same tone to me as Joss' "It's not gonna be all rainbows and lollipops- not on my show, dammit" comment (quote is close but may not be exact.)

Marti was just trying to do a pre-emptive strike on precisely the kind of criticism i read here and at the c & s. They are going to give them problems, they don't want people to criticize them for it. I would have complained before the body, but after the body the tough love-the gift arch, and the entire season 6 upn stint. I can't complain. Given the constraints the writers work under, they have outdone any other network attempt by more than 500 %. I won't be happy if they don't get back together, maybe even enough to stop watching but I don't have any complaints about what has been.
