But she could-- and then with the-- and Principal Wood said--AAARRRGGHHH! I SO thought you were gonna let them find out, but you just played with us again. *sniffle* I feel so used. I have to go now.

But first, can I just say that if Googling is an invasion of privacy, then I've violated everyone I know. There. I feel better.

I haven't come on here and read any W/T fiction since the show went off the air, but I decided to check some out. I spent late last night/early morning reading this fic, and I have to say I love every bit of it; It was worth staying up for, fo' sho'! :D

As I read I thought to myself, 'hey, this story has 20+ pages going, so of course the truth about the teacher/student misunderstanding has already been exposed,' but NOPE, I was wrong! :rolleyes As much as I find it frustrating at times, keeping the truth hidden does leave me fascinated after every update; I'm always left eager to read more. But that is no indicator to continue holdin' out the truth for another 20 pages! :p ...I love your humor, and your writing style. You're doin' a fabulous job. I'll definitely be checkin' in for more updates for this fic.

Thank you :heart

Bloody Hell... clueless, just clueless those girls are. I have to agree, the Google dialog in the Magic Box was hysterical! I laughed my ass off. It's sweet when they played "Anywhere But Here" they chose each other. And Tara's line;

hmmmmm... a little giving of one's self perhaps? Wonderful update!

Justin – I think that you and a few other people question whether the Google would actually be a breach of privacy. Personally I would say that it’s definitely a borderline ethical problem. Personally, I would find it perhaps not unethical but definitely creepy. I mean where do you draw the line between being flattered that someone is interested and being creeped out that they are researching you? I think more importantly it’s the idea of the thing. And certainly her doing anything beyond a Google search would be ethically wrong in my opinion.

Quote:
Though surely the fact he reffered to them both as Ms., rather than "smelly little urchin" should have been a hint?
I think that that nomenclature is frequently the standard for attempting to insert some level of respect into our public school so no, it didn’t clue them in.

Quote:
a) England win the soccer world cup

b) Microsoft bring out an open source version of Windows

c) Willow and Tara find out they can date each other

d) The Rapture
good list: a. Is that even a remote possibility? b. Why would we want to see it? c. inevitable d. Fictional?

Thanks always.

Arwen – Yeah, I put out an advertisement and he responded. Actually he wanted some other duties but I said that the others were all occupied and gave him just the non-helpful principal job. He said he needed work and took it.

You are right and there will be more of this getting to know each other without a sexual relationship. Ha ha. Thanks.

shuyaku – Lol. Glad for the bothering. Yep, very close.

WillowRTaraM1 – Hmmm, I can definitely say that I have no plans for a staff meeting anytime during this fic. :evil

veiled isis moon – Glad you were amused. I write mostly to amuse myself so I’m glad when it works for someone else too. Ha ha. Thanks for the support.

russ – Well howdy not really there. Glad you like the Giles additions. Generally I feel like I haven’t done nearly the job I usually aim for in character development for anyone. Of course part of that is that the farcical nature of the story forbids it but I’m glad you like the Giles bits. See response to Justin re: Googling invasion of privacy.

Glad you like their shared and growing connection.

(Although I have to wonder why her parents didn't notice she was out all night.
It’s actually my story and one of my happiest memories of childhood. I always loved the way I felt when I slept under the trees. We lived in a small town and had very little supervision, parental or otherwise.

Yes, I imagine many happy kittens will definitely welcome the revelation(s).

wimpy – Thanks. I’m glad you liked the Magic Box bit. Fun to write too.

Quote:
Just wondering too, according to the Lesbian Book Of Dating Etiquette, exactly how many dates before it is appropriate to google?
I think that after 3 dates it’s actually inappropriate to google because you should just ask…

Thanks for the suggestions. I can promise there will be no “I nevering…” Been there, done that. I’ll definitely give Ash those smooches. Thanks.

Emms – Thanks. Glad you liked. Ha ha, funny visual about the marching bands. I’m glad you like it so much. Thanks.

WickedReds – Yes, please no cruelty to computers. They’re definitely our friends.

Tempest Duer – Glad you think it’s funny even I frustrating. More to come on that.

sammi – Thanks.

Natti – Nope, no clue yet. It’s coming but will take a little longer.

willohand – Ha ha. Yep, definitely doing it. :rofl

Grimaldi – Glad you liked that bit. A bit of a cheap laugh but fun to write. Tara’s story is mine from childhood so I’m glad it rang true.

Romy – Ha ha. Good for crazy.

BWR – Nice ordering. I would say probably c will be first but will seem last.

Grimmy -

Quote:
Hmm... I've pretty much given up on them ever figuring out they're both teachers, much easier reading that way I'll concentrate on the scoobies finding out that Faith is a slayer too.
I can promise that both will happen. Would you like to guess which is first? :evil

Remember that Giles has seen Faith & Buffy fight but both are holding back so he hasn’t caught on. I think that Tara did the healing just to make it easier, otherwise, yes it would be healed quickly anyway. But Tara & Faith are used to using Tara’s magic to make life easier.

Kajun – Yeah, Faith is more interested in not letting Buffy know who she is than Buffy is. Of course Faith doesn’t know who she is… Nice thought about the trees. Ahhh… Willow’s working up a list of questions; we’ll see what you think of them.

tiger – There will be W/T goodness but in good time. Glad you like.

willowfan13 – Welcome on the delurking. La la la… the Mistress of Please. Good thought but I’m not sure you’re begging to the right person. I’ll see what I can do about clearing up the confusion. Welcome.

Tempest Duer – Very cute… I’ll think about it.

tarawhipped – Sorry you’re feeling used. Tee hee. Nope, not finding out yet. Lol about your Googling habits: the first step is admitting you have a problem you know.

Pokey Doodle – Welcome. :wave It’s great to get a new reader and new person to comment. No W/T FF since BTVS went off the air? That’s what keeps most kittens going. I’m glad you’re enjoying the fic.

Quote:
As I read I thought to myself, 'hey, this story has 20+ pages going, so of course the truth about the teacher/student misunderstanding has already been exposed,' but NOPE, I was wrong!
I think the 20 pages is largely due to the wonderful Kittens who comment on each update. :clap Hmmm, 20 more pages. I don’t think so. I think everyone is safe that this story will not go on for 20 more pages (and yes, you can quote me). Thanks.

Irishgrl3 – Yep, clueless they are. I’m glad you liked the Google dialog and Tara’s line. I wanted it to be heartfelt but not dorky. Thanks.

Sharleen – You know the saying: Patience is a virtue—seldom found in a man and never in a women. But I’m glad my fic is helping you try. Thanks.

Thoughts in italics

Willow strolled out to the quad with a definite spring in her step. It was the first day that she had not fought with herself over going to visit with Tara. In fact, she was hoping to beat the blonde to “their” tree and surprise her. Usually Willow doubted her decisions to go visit Tara but she had finally given up on that.

It was Monday and Willow hadn’t seen Tara since Wednesday of the prior week. That was when they had traded stories and been interrupted by Principal Wood. Willow had expected the principal to take exception to the familiarity the two girls shared and caution her about socializing with a student. When he had failed to do so, Willow spent the next five days doing it herself. Most of the weekend had been spent either researching with the other Scoobies or meditating on her relationship with Tara. Ironically she had found the meditation training Tara had given her very useful in working through her complicated thoughts and feelings.

During that time she had come to a few conclusions—conclusions which she, being Willow Rosenberg—had written down in outline form. Summarizing those conclusions she had decided that pursuing a relationship with Tara was inevitable. She knew that no matter what, she wanted to know the wonderful blonde better. She also knew that as long as she didn’t do anything that directly violated the rules of the school, she would be fine. She had read and reread the employee handbook for the school and found no mention of rules concerning relationships between teachers and students apart from forbidding “inappropriate” or sexual contact. So she had decided to truly pursue Tara without breaking any school rules.

Another conclusion she had reached was that she had to talk to Tara about their shared interest in witchcraft. It was obvious that Tara was a more experienced witch than Willow, particularly given the lack of time and energy the redhead had been able to devote to her practice while in college. She wanted to learn more about Tara’s practice. Willow wanted to do a locator spell to attempt to find the missing slayer. Given that they apparently were facing a big bad with no information on what was causing the low kill count, she wanted to get the second slayer to Sunnydale to help. She had some ideas on how to construct the spell but she wanted Tara’s help in designing and actually casting the spell.

Willow arrived at the tree and noted that few students had made their way onto the quad yet. Of course, she had let her class out a few minutes early but Tara, being a student, would have no such liberty. While waiting, she quickly spread out the food she had prepared. Without wanting it to seem like a date, she wanted to show some effort at these semi-informal lunchtime meetings.

“Willow?” Tara asked with obvious confusion in her voice. Willow had been so involved in spreading out the items she had brought for lunch that she hadn’t noticed Tara’s approach. The blonde’s face carried a mix of confusion and joy as she took in the sight in front of her.

Willow quickly jumped to her feet. “I know, usually you’re here before me but I wanted to surprise you today. And you look like I did. Surprise. And you always have lunch and share with me but I wanted to do that today so I did. And do you like and if you sit, I can show you what I brought?”

Tara smiled again and sat as she perused the containers Willow had set out. “You and Faith were on the way to the coffee shop that day so I brought…,” she handed Tara the cup of coffee she had brought in a thermos. Then she started pointing out containers: “I didn’t know if you eat meat so … Couscous with herbs and raisins, Spicy noodles, Tofu, and strawberries and watermelon for desert.”

“You made this for m-me?” Tara asked with amazement in her voice.

Willow continued holding out the cup of coffee and indicating the food with her other hand. After a few seconds she whispered, “If it earns me that smile I’ll do it over and over too.”

Tara knew that she should squash Willow’s blatant interest. After Principal Wood nearly caught the two of them, she had thought about it all weekend. Finally she had decided that as long as the meetings between the two girls remained “legal” she would allow the relationship to remain as is. And now, to her shock, it appeared that Willow as escalating the relationship with what could only be seen as a very romantic lunch date.

“You don’t like it,” Willow pronounced with a pout in her voice when Tara didn’t respond immediately.

The blonde reached out to take Willow’s hand. “I love it,” she whispered, “I just … it’s a touchy s-s-s-s-tuation?” She added, “We need to be careful.”

Willow heard Tara’s words and understood them for what they were but she also noticed that Tara wasn’t letting go of her hand. It was so nice that Tara wanted to respect Willow’s position and the redhead really appreciated that. “We will be,” she answered. She slowly took her hand away and made an x over her chest. “Cross my heart,” she joked.

Both girls laughed and reached for a piece of fruit. “So do you?” Willow suddenly asked.

Tara’s hand stopped halfway to her mouth. “Huh?” she sputtered. “Do I what?”’

“Eat meat?” Willow explained, “do you eat meat?”

Tara smiled as she understood the segue. “No,” she shook her head, “thanks for being so considerate in the repast.” She indicated the spread. She was surprised to see Willow pull a small sheet of paper from her pocket and make a mark on it.

“So I have a list of things I don’t know about you,” Willow started. “Can we play more questions and answers?”

Tara smiled, “On one condition.”

“Anything,” Willow agreed.

“Nothing sensitive,” Tara explained, “nothing about age, jobs, college plans, nothing like that.”

Willow eagerly agreed to Tara’s suggestion. She understood that the girl didn’t want to bring up any topics that might make them uneasy or more aware of the age differences between them. “Ok, first,” Willow started only to find herself interrupted by Tara.

“Who says you get to go first?” Tara asked, only halfway joking.

“You can go first,” Willow quickly conceded.

Tara laughed at Willow’s willingness to agree. “What’s your favorite color?” she asked, making the first question easy.

“Green,” Willow easily said.

“Me too,” Tara agreed. “Your turn,” she offered.

“Ok,” Willow said eagerly, “what’s your middle name?”

“Great,” Tara sneered playfully, “start with the biggie first.”

“How is that a biggie?” Willow asked as she took another piece of fruit.

“My middle name is … ennbs,” Tara mumbled at the end, passing her hand over her mouth.

“Your middle name is eebbbbbs?” Willow teased. “What a strange name. How did your parents spell that?”

Tara smiled at Willow’s teasing. “It’s … elbbbsss,” she slurred again, this time teasing the curious redhead.

Willow returned, “Oh! Why didn’t you say it was Elbbbsss? I used to know a kid named Elbbbsss, but he ate glue and took all the yellow crayons in kindergarten.”

Tara laughed at Willow teasing. Finally she admitted: “Elvis.”

“Elvis, what?” Willow asked, confused about the topic change.

“Tara Elvis Maclay,” Tara explained.

“Your middle name is Elvis?” Willow asked in disbelief, “Makes Willow Ruth Rosenberg seem fortunate.”

“My father wanted another son and he had his heart set on Elvis as a name,” Tara explained. She laughed, “My mother always said that I had the name of one of her Goddesses and one of his Gods.”

Both girls laughed for a while before Willow followed up on the disclosure. “They sound interesting,” she led hoping Tara would share more about herself.

“Y-y-yes,” Tara simply answered not willing to get into any conversations about her family at the time. When she’d left her father and brother, she’d never looked back and she didn’t particularly feel like discussing it in the middle of the Sunnydale High School quad. “What’s your favorite m-movie?” she quickly changed the topic.

Willow raised her eyebrows slightly at Tara’s sudden subject change but decided to go along with it. Her answer that Buffy the Vampire Slayer was her favorite movie for its campy humor started the girls on a long conversation about movies that only ended when the two realized that it was nearing time for class.

As she packed, Willow contemplated asking the question she had wanted to ask. “Um… Tara,” she got the girl’s attention. “Um… I want to ask you something but I don’t want you to think I’ve been going behind your back or anything…”

Tara stilled as she worried about what Willow could be referring to. As far as she knew no one knew about her work with Faith fighting vampires and other demons but Willow seemed quite perceptive. Not trusting her voice she nodded at the redheaded student.

“Well…,” Willow started, “my friends are all… I mean Giles is… I mean Buffy…” she took a breath and spit out, “I’mawitchtoo.”

Tara took a second to process Willow’s words. “You’re…,” she finally understood. “That’s why the spark!” she shouted.

Willow smiled. “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you earlier, Tara,” she apologized, “but I never found the right time.”

“And you’ve known since…,” Tara started.

“Since you went to the Magic Box for the books,” Willow finished for her.

Tara nodded as it dawned on her that of course Willow knew she was a witch. “Buffy, Anya, Giles, are all your friends,” she said.

Willow glanced around at the dwindling crowd. “Yes they are,” she agreed. She took a breath: “And we can talk about it whenever you want but I was wondering…,” she paused. “I need some help on a spell and wondered if you…”

Tara thought a moment about Willow’s request. It was one more step. One more inappropriate activity with the intriguing and beautiful woman. One more things she should say no to. But it was also one more connection. Tara hadn’t done magic with anyone else since her mother had died and she missed it so badly. “T-tomorrow?” she asked shakily.

Willow’s face broke into a huge grin. “Absolutely,” she agreed, “can you meet by the tree at 4:00 again?” When Tara agreed, Willow impulsively pulled the blonde into a hug before realizing that they were both late. Both girls muttered apologizes and ran off to their classes, looking forward to tomorrow’s spell.

Yay, I'm always so excited when I see an update for this fic!

I like the setting of boundaries that don't seem to stay set with the hugging, the hand holding, and the romantic lunch :) And they shared some important info about both being witches. Granted I was hoping for the big, obvious, -Hello we're both teachers info- but you aren't going to give it to us that easy are ya? I think Buffy and Faith are going to have to figure it out themselves (which is kind of funny in itself) and give W&T the push they need to get together :D

Congrats on your fellow Texan's big win! 6 in a row, way to go Lance!

Good God Debra! You had me yelling at my monitor, smacking my desk and laughing so hard I was in tears.

Okay, in order. My poor monitor got yelled at when Tara gave her conditions on the questions...grumble...grumble. (Oh yeah, I understand about "I Never" but that was always one of my favorite things you've done, one among many).

My poor desk got smacked again during the questions, with the girls being all avoid-y.

But the tears, my God I haven't laughed so hard in ages -- Tara's middle name!!! :lmao That was frickin hilarious! :rofl

The way you work these girls still amazes me, and of course, there is the frustration. They're both wanting to be careful because of the delicate situation.

Anyway, they're gonna do a spell! Yay! Or are they? I never know with you. Still lovin it!

As soon as Tara said she had a condition for the question/answer game I just knew that she was going to prohibit any questions that might lead to them finding out THE TRUTH.

Which leads me to an inevitable conclusion. They know! They've probably known right from the beginning. All of this "no we can't date or kiss or have gay fun." is just a tease in order to torture we poor, loyal kittens. It's all some evil experiment isn't it? They're seeing how far they can push us before we give up and go over to the dark side of spuffydom. Which is just :devilish

Looking forward to :read more

BTW, I recommended this story to a friend (who can't register with the board due to a rubbishy computer) and she said that this story rocks :applause

You wormed your way out of revealing the truth by pulling the age card. Sneaky Kitty. I like that about you. Now.. about Tara’s middle name.. Whatthefrillyheck!? Well.. The King IS a God after all. I’m surprised that when Willow said her favorite movie was BTVS Tara didn’t momentarily get thrown through a loop. Actually.. no.. I’m not surprised. At least there was one revelation in this update! Tara shouldn’t need to fudge up the locator spell since Faith is masked. I wonder if their combined Magics would see through the masking spell anyway? More games please...!!

Apparently I've been playing that whole questions and answers game wrong for a long... um, let's just say for awhile :glasses And what's sensitive about asking about job plans? I ask everybody I meet what they want to be when they grow up. And I've only wanted to shag one of them. I rather tell a complete stranger my career plans than my middle name :eyebrow

But yay with them agreeing to work on the spell together!!

Hi Debra,
If I were the sort of person who believed in putting forth conspiracy theories I would suspect you of working covertly with the RNC.Have they hired you to develop new methods for torturing homosexuals and the persons who have sympathies in regards to them?Come on you are driving this dyke to distraction. How much longer can Willow and Tara remain oblivious?Alright rant over.
I hope you and your family are doing well.
Take care,Karen
