Adrienne will have the full report on the karaoke. She was singing with Andy (The Host) so you know it had to be good. According to Bob she did a "Spice Girls" number and I remember hearing something about a sommersault. hehe. Let me just say that Amber is so gorgeous!! And so very gracious!! She took time out to personalize all the autographs and pose for pictures with anyone who wanted them! Jane (the writer who was with Amber) said she had written the third episode and half of the fourth episode. I have two different batches of pics. The first I took with my handy digital camera from work, and they'll be up tonight! The second I took with my trusty Canon AE-1 Program, and they'll be ready in a few days. I've got to go scrounge up some battery power and get to uploading, but for now I'll leave you with two words. Amber. Karaoke. Ooo-la-la... Okay, that's two words and some strange noises, but what can I say? I'm a heavy tipper. More later... ------------------

Well, I'm really happy to be home sick tonight... can't wait to hear all the Ambereports.The writer's name is actually Jane Espenson. Her first BUFFY episode was BAND CANDY (Season 3). She didn't really create Jonathan. Jonathan popped up in very brief, funny appearances as a hapless, dorky kid caught in the headlights in random eps for a season or two (not sure when he first appeared -- Season 2??? Anyone know?) and was a favorite with some hardcore "Buffy" fans. Jane wrote the episode, SUPERSTAR, that focused on him. But just because Jane is reportedly writing some eps doesn't mean he will be back. Who knows? IP: Logged |

Ah, since Stacy did an excellent job with most of what happened... I'll do a quick run down of the karaoke bits. While we where all waiting in the 'Amber' line for sigs, someone said she was doing a little singing, so Bob and I dashed off to see if we could find her. We got there just as Little Willow and Amber had finished singing. But luckily, she kept on going! A girl, um Jennifer I believe her name was, stepped up to the mic and began singing the Spice Girls song. Both Andy and Amber were backing her up. It was adorable! During one interlude, Amber danced around a bit and looked as if she was having a ball! After getting stuck in traffic for 5 hours, and missing the Women in Comics panel, I’m sure she needed to work off some of her energy. Did I mention she’s very energetic?! We headed back after that song because it was nearly 4pm, and time for her to start signing. Again, Stacy already stated she was wearing blue jeans and the blue jersey shirt. She also had on a kind of orange/yellow pair of flip-flops and a khaki belt. I must say that all the impressions that other's have put forth about meeting Amber are true. She's 200xs more beautiful in person. Extremely friendly and talkative, and I think she's as adoring of her fans as we are of her. I had such an excellent time meeting everyone... oh, Jen was there too and we all got to chat with her as well... very tired... I wish I could say bedtime, but I'm off to chat instead!!! What Adrienne has neglected to mention is that when we heard Amber was doing the karaoke thing, she and I took off so fast that we were halfway across the convention hall before we realized we had no idea where we were going. Luckily we did find the spot.There are no karaoke pics in my batch for tonight. Digital cameras completely suck at shooting anything that's moving because you've got that delay between when you push the button and when the picture actually gets taken. Plus I got out my big lens (the same one I used for the pics of Alyson Hannigan at the Long Beach Grand Prix last year) so I could get some extra-close shots. Cross your fingers and hope there was enough light! Anyway, I still do have a good assortment of shots tonight and will have them up momentarily. Look! Look! It's me with Amber Benson! Okay, now that that's out of the way, let me tell you about the Comic Con, with appropriate illustrations along the way... I got to San Diego around 10:00 this morning and immediately spotted the Kitties assembling at Stacy's designated meeting spot. Stacy, Becky (Reba), Sarah (Anakin) and Bill (CaBil) were all there, and Shanie arrived to greet us all and get her tickets but then took off for some food. The rest of us went inside. It was still early, so we split up to look around. I ended up at the panel for the Sci-Fi Channel series, The Invisible Man. There I learned the following scoop: Armin Shimmerman will be doing a multi-episode guest shot on the series in the coming shows. Next I wandered around a bit. The line for the Lord of the Rings presentation was enormous and running late, so I bailed on it and went to see Terry Moore, known to us Kitties for his art work on WannaBlessedBe but better known in the biz for Strangers In Paradise. Let me tell you, I was mightily impressed with this man. He's my kind of artist, who says that what he values most are having a studio to work in every day and having people who want to read what he produces there. More on Terry later... By now the LoTR presentation was half an hour late, and with the line for Joss stretching to infinity and the Women In Comics panel coming up it was pretty obvious that Joss's Q&A was not to be for me. So I headed downstairs and found Xita, Adrienne and Stacy already staked out on the front row. The rest of the gang soon joined us, including Shanie and her friend who were back from lunch. Alas, we were all there for the panel, but Amber was not. She got stuck in traffic on the way down from LA. Even so, it was an excellent panel, and we all got to see the woman who created ElfQuest, whom we listened to admiringly on Joy's behalf. Okay, I'm paranoid about Novogate puking if I go on too long, so I'm going to post this part and then continue in another post... IP: Logged |

Part DeuxOkay, so now it's about 2:15 - time to head down to check out the Dark Horse booth. The autograph line for Joss had already been "capped" due to time limitations, and he wasn't even there yet! There was still no word about Amber, but an announcement was supposed to come around 3:00, so we took off for a quick lunch. By the time we got back, there was still no word about Amber! Joss #3 I have no idea why his hands were bandaged like that. Perhaps someone else found out... Finally the word came - Amber was in the building! The con organizers started setting up the autograph line, and we Kitties quickly got to the front. We still had a long wait ahead of us, though... As we were waiting, more news came our way. Amber was over at Andy Hallet's karaoke thing, and she was singing!. Adrienne and I took off, and as I said before we were halfway across the convention hall before we realized we didn't know where the karaoke thing was. We finally found the place. The way the thing was set up was that con attendees signed up to sing, and they took turns with the microphone while Andy and Amber sang backup. If there's one word to describe Amber, it would have to be energy. She was bouncing all over the place, jumping up and down and dancing and wiggling (calm yourself, Xita...), hanging on Andy and even getting down on the floor to turn a somersault at one point. I quickly switched to my film camera and clicked on my telephoto lens. We should know by mid-week if there was enough light for me to get some good closeups. I know the suspense is building... Okay, Part The ThirdAfter two songs at the karaoke spot, Amber had to leave to go sign autographs. That was our cue to skedaddle back to where our fellow Kitties were in line. Amber got there a few minutes later. She looked over and recognized both Xita and Xita's Kitten Board t-shirt, and she waved. Definitely a good sign. At last the autograph session began. Jane Espenson was there too, and we all felt kind of bad for not bringing along anything for her to sign (we all had our Tara pics and our Amber pics and our copies of WannaBlessedBe, of course). Fortunately, there were Buffy posters and bookmarks for us to grab along the way. Jane seems like a very nice and funny person. Her favorite episode that she wrote, so she told us, is "Superstar." At last, Amber! Still energetic, greeting everyone and hugging everyone and posting for pictures. Here's one... Amber with Adrienne When Adrienne asked to have a picture signed and addressed to Stain and Varnish, Amber immediately said, "Wow! You do Stain and Varnish?" Amber #3 I should mention that Amber did most of the autograph session barefoot and sitting cross-legged. There was one time when she put a foot up and sat there wiggling her toes - alas I was out of film in my film camera by that time, and the digital camera wasn't quick enough to get it. In the middle of the session, Amber suddenly leaped to her feet and began bowing down on the ground. I looked over to see who she was bowing to, and it was none other than Terry Moore! Amber & Terry #4 As the autograph session wound down, we caught up with Chris (Wicca), and then we met mabbyjen! After that, it was time for Amber to pack up and head out. We were all pretty dead on our feet too, and Adrienne had to catch a plane, so off we went on. Xita, Stacy and I went for dinner and more Buffy discussion, and then it was back on the freeway (where Xita drives like Juan Montoya at Indy) and home. Let me just say that it was absolutely great to meet everyone today! I'm so glad we all pulled this off! Special thanks goes to Stacy for being our advance-ticket-buyer and meeting-place-scout. I must say that all the impressions that other's have put forth about meeting Amber are true. She's 200xs more beautiful in person. Extremely friendly and talkative, and I think she's as adoring of her fans as we are of her.
I had such an excellent time meeting everyone... oh, Jen was there too and we all got to chat with her as well... very tired... I wish I could say bedtime, but I'm off to chat instead!!!

What Adrienne has neglected to mention is that when we heard Amber was doing the karaoke thing, she and I took off so fast that we were halfway across the convention hall before we realized we had no idea where we were going. Luckily we did find the spot.There are no karaoke pics in my batch for tonight. Digital cameras completely suck at shooting anything that's moving because you've got that delay between when you push the button and when the picture actually gets taken. Plus I got out my big lens (the same one I used for the pics of Alyson Hannigan at the Long Beach Grand Prix last year) so I could get some extra-close shots. Cross your fingers and hope there was enough light!
Anyway, I still do have a good assortment of shots tonight and will have them up momentarily.

Look! Look! It's me with Amber Benson! Okay, now that that's out of the way, let me tell you about the Comic Con, with appropriate illustrations along the way...
I got to San Diego around 10:00 this morning and immediately spotted the Kitties assembling at Stacy's designated meeting spot. Stacy, Becky (Reba), Sarah (Anakin) and Bill (CaBil) were all there, and Shanie arrived to greet us all and get her tickets but then took off for some food. The rest of us went inside.
It was still early, so we split up to look around. I ended up at the panel for the Sci-Fi Channel series, The Invisible Man. There I learned the following scoop: Armin Shimmerman will be doing a multi-episode guest shot on the series in the coming shows.
Next I wandered around a bit. The line for the Lord of the Rings presentation was enormous and running late, so I bailed on it and went to see Terry Moore, known to us Kitties for his art work on WannaBlessedBe but better known in the biz for Strangers In Paradise. Let me tell you, I was mightily impressed with this man. He's my kind of artist, who says that what he values most are having a studio to work in every day and having people who want to read what he produces there. More on Terry later...
By now the LoTR presentation was half an hour late, and with the line for Joss stretching to infinity and the Women In Comics panel coming up it was pretty obvious that Joss's Q&A was not to be for me. So I headed downstairs and found Xita, Adrienne and Stacy already staked out on the front row. The rest of the gang soon joined us, including Shanie and her friend who were back from lunch.
Alas, we were all there for the panel, but Amber was not. She got stuck in traffic on the way down from LA. Even so, it was an excellent panel, and we all got to see the woman who created ElfQuest, whom we listened to admiringly on Joy's behalf.
Okay, I'm paranoid about Novogate puking if I go on too long, so I'm going to post this part and then continue in another post...

Finally the word came - Amber was in the building! The con organizers started setting up the autograph line, and we Kitties quickly got to the front. We still had a long wait ahead of us, though...
As we were waiting, more news came our way. Amber was over at Andy Hallet's karaoke thing, and she was singing!. Adrienne and I took off, and as I said before we were halfway across the convention hall before we realized we didn't know where the karaoke thing was. We finally found the place. If there's one word to describe Amber, it would have to be energy. She was bouncing all over the place, jumping up and down and dancing and wiggling (calm yourself, Xita...), hanging on Andy and even getting down on the floor to turn a somersault at one point. I quickly switched to my film camera and clicked on my telephoto lens. We should know by mid-week if there was enough light for me to get some good closeups.

Okay, Part The ThirdAfter two songs at the karaoke spot, Amber had to leave to go sign autographs. That was our cue to skedaddle back to where our fellow Kitties were in line. Amber got there a few minutes later. She looked over and recognized both Xita and Xita's Kitten Board t-shirt, and she waved. Definitely a good sign.
At last the autograph session began. Jane Espenson was there too, and we all felt kind of bad for not bringing along anything for her to sign (we all had our Tara pics and our Amber pics and our copies of WannaBlessedBe, of course). Fortunately, there were Buffy posters and bookmarks for us to grab along the way. Jane seems like a very nice and funny person. Her favorite episode that she wrote, so she told us, is "Superstar."
At last, Amber! Still energetic, greeting everyone and hugging everyone and posting for pictures. Here's one...

When Adrienne asked to have a picture signed and addressed to Stain and Varnish, Amber immediately said, "Wow! You do Stain and Varnish?" Yes, Amber knows her web-based fandom well.

I should mention that Amber did most of the autograph session barefoot and sitting cross-legged. There was one time when she put a foot up and sat there wiggling her toes - alas I was out of film in my film camera by that time, and the digital camera wasn't quick enough to get it.
In the middle of the session, Amber suddenly leaped to her feet and began bowing down on the ground. I looked over to see who she was bowing to, and it was none other than Terry Moore! Despite their collaboration on WannaBlessedBe, they had never actually met before. Here are some pics of their first encounter:

After that, it was time for Amber to pack up and head out. We were all pretty dead on our feet too, and Adrienne had to catch a plane, so off we went on. Xita, Stacy and I went for dinner and more Buffy discussion, and then it was back on the freeway (where Xita drives like Juan Montoya at Indy) and home.
Let me just say that it was absolutely great to meet everyone today! I'm so glad we all pulled this off! Special thanks goes to Stacy for being our advance-ticket-buyer and meeting-place-scout. Woo-hoo!
