No. Joss wrote the lyrics; Christophe Beck, who scored the show until this year, wrote the music (that's also him at the piano in that scene).

Regarding ASH's appearances, don't forget that the 2-hour premiere counts as Eps 1 and 2. If he's also in Eps 4, 5, and 6, there may be just one more Giles ep after that. And that rates a from me.quote:

Did anyone ever find anything out about Chris Beck CDs?

i have a feeling that the musical ep will deal directly with Giles leaving. I think that will be at the core of that ep. But he might make a long distance type appearance after that.

I think the musical ep will be W/T centric as most of Joss Whedon directed eps are.

Oooh, I think that's a good call about the musical ep being the one where Giles leaves for England, because that's just the kind of really major happening in the Buffy universe that could lend itself well to opera-type drama (or operetta, whatever). And Giles should go out with a bang, too, and having a complicated, risky musical ep is a proper bang for him.

Ha...proper bang for Giles; sounds like the title of a gay movie.

Actually, I sort of imagined Giles singing his farewells in an "English-Music-Hall" type of number .

Since when? "The Gift" and "The Body" weren't W/T centric. I think the muscial episode will be Scooby Gang-centric.

Well, The Body was more of an Tara centric, and The gift was B/D, W/T centric, but I was thinking more of an Family and New Moon Rising, oh definately New Moon Rising, my fav ep.

Joss almost allways features Amber more than most of the regulars in his eps, which just goes to show how much he likes her. Add that Amber has a wonderful singing voice and that we haven't seen a W/T strong Whedon directed ep for a while and you get a large possibility that the musical ep will be very W/T centric, moreso in an angsty way...

But we'll have to wait and see.quote:

Joss eps do seem to give us some extra special W/T moments, as in even more special than all the other special moments, but NMR wasn't a Joss ep, Marti Noxton wrote and directed it.

I think the musical ep will give us some outstanding W/T goodness, but I do not believe they will be the main focus of the episode.

The body was taracentric? I thought it was about joyce dying. Go figure.

While, Joss does love amber and w/t and we are guaranteed moments, the last couple of joss eps have been focused on other things.

Ooops, you're right G, so sorry.

xita: I tought at first it was Dawn centric, but that Tara/Buffy speech gave away it was a Tara centric episode. She was a shy person who wanted to help, I mean really really wanted to help, but was unsure of herself. This was really the greatest show of Amber's acting skill. That Tara/Buffy scene was great! I mean, that was a real highlight of the show . IMO...

Okay now that was a rant and I can't spell, sorry...

EDIT: heck, it certainly wasn't about Joyce dying, she was allready dead at the begging of the episode!

There's literal. Then there's Ed.

If The Body wasn't about Joyce dying and the ramifications of her death, would you care to explain what it was about then? Because I think I'm a little confused on your take of this episode. Much appreciated.

Errrrrr, Ruth, it's simple:

It wasn't about Joyce dying, it was about how Buffy, Dawn, Willow, Alex, Tara, Anya and Giles went through all that.

EDIT: I think you actualy said it yourself: ramifications, I just don't know what that word means, sorry

From Sci-Fi Wire (fairly spoilerish):

Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans have been waiting for one plot development for nearly two years: resolution of the fate of witch Amy Madison, played by Elizabeth Anne Allen, who was turned into a rat in season three. This week, Buffy creator Joss Whedon revealed this spoiler to SCI FI Wire for the show's upcoming sixth season: "Amy will be de-ratted. She will be de-ratted, I promise."

Ok, more stuff from SciFi Wire (I think..)

Bogus Buffy Spoilers Planted

Don't believe everything you read on the Web about upcoming Buffy the
Vampire Slayer episodes: Producers told SCI FI Wire that they've been
planting bogus spoilers for a while now. "That's the fun part," Buffy
executive producer Martin Noxon said in an interview. "Because we got
sort of savvy, ... and also we're trying to track down where the
genuine leaks were, so there's stuff out there that's pure hokum."

Noxon said that portions of Buffy scripts that have appeared on the
Ain't It Cool News Web site are pages sent to casting directors, which
end up in the hands of actors auditioning for roles on the show. But
other spoilers are fabricated--including one last year that James
Marsters' character, Spike, would be killed off and that Marsters
himself would be working on a feature film for Sixth Sense director M.
Night Shyamalan.

Still, Buffy creator Joss Whedon expressed exasperation at the genuine
leaks. "There's some accuracy there; luckily, not total accuracy,
because that would be annoying," Whedon said in an interview. "But we
have a lot of leaks. We've had horrible leaks on Angel, and I resent
it, but there's nothing I can do about it at this point. It doesn't
affect what we're going to do. ... And enough of them are wrong that
there's a safety factor. ... I feel so strongly ... about the concept
of surprise being so important. ... This desire for insider knowledge
is so overwhelming with people, and I'm not sure why." Buffy premieres
on UPN on Oct. 9.

Thanks for posting that JustSomeGuy.

And this is why we should not get all angsty and stuff about spoilers Kittens, the Ain't it Cool spoilers got to me too, even though I had serious doubts about them they still got to me but after other reliable spoilers (from interviews) came out, I felt much better. It’s no big surprise that they do stuff like this, by putting out a lot of fake spoilers, they negate the real spoilers that get out. I’m still a big spoiler ho but after the ton a bogus spoilers last year, especially the last few episodes, I’m not really going to pay much attention to the spoilers that are not from interviews or magazines this year, and besides, I’m so sick of all the W/T breaking up and Willow’s going to be the big bad this year, that I will not let these silly “spoilers” ruin my enjoyment of the show.

Amy being de-ratted - yeah, well, I'll believe it when I see it, quite frankly. David Fury said this last year, but nothing ever came of it. Perhaps Joss saying it gave the story some creedance.

The SCI FI Wire Story - this does not surprise me in the least. I thought fake stuff would be flying around all ready. I hope certain things are false (Emma leaving, Willow going bad, some of the stupid stories like demons being killed in water). But, you never know with Joss and the gang. They're always giving false stories away.

"The Body" was about Joyce dying. "The Body" was more Buffy/Dawn-centric than anything. We also had a few extra moments Anya/Xander moments too, not just W/T.

Dear god Dazey, is there anything you do *not* know? You know, I will be stalking all your posts from now on to see if I can find a mistake before you wake up and correct it, and when I do I will quote you in big red fonts. Hah! It took me 6 months to catch April when she made a spelling error at *last*. This shall be my new quest, it will probably be easier to find the holy grail, but hey, can't blame a guy for trying. Heh heh.

Thanks for posting this JSG, I agree with everything Warduke just said. Of course *I* would have said it much better...

i thought joss was writing the music to the musical but mel brooks was gonna write the lyrics. ok, bad joke but mel's broadway musical of "the producers" was hilarious and he did write all the music and lyrics. i'm hoping joss could write something nearly this clever.

Okay, sorry to go back to this, but I knew I had read this at the Bronze archives somewhere and I just found it:

Chris Beck (composer) says:
(Tue May 23 21:47:47 2000 24.130.16.71)

For the curious, Joss wrote the music and lyrics to Giles' song. That is actually me and Four Star Mary playing; we went into the studio about a month ago to record it with Tony (Head).quote:

This is why it is always best to stick to the spoilers that come from the casting sides, since they are from the scipts themselves. The rest of the stuff tends to be conjecture and guesswork.
