Introduction Thread Number 3!!

Postby lesbian gay type » Wed Mar 07, 2001 7:51 pm

Alright, I’ve finally accepted that I am one of y’all. I’ve been in denial for months, checking in on this board weekly, then daily, now several times a day. Here’s what led me to finally accept that I am a fanatic…these things are ALL TRUE…

10. Renamed/nicknamed one of my cats Miss Kitty Fantastico…and he’s a boy
9. Have pondered for hours who I like better, Willow or Tara?
8. Constantly telling my girlfriend misc. Amber Benson stories… “and then she let her take another picture of her butt…” as if I was actually there. She smiles uncomfortably.
7. Sent Amber $50 for her movie
6. I think I read somewhere that there never is a number 6
5. Constantly ask my girlfriend, “Am I like Willow and you’re like Tara, or is it the other way around.” She smiles uncomfortably.
4. Lost track of how many times I watched “the kiss”
3. Everything on this list is actually true. I kid you not. Really.
2. AOL greeting “Welcome, you’ve got mail” replaced by “Hello, gay now!”
1. Constantly ask my girlfriend, “Let’s play Willow and Tara tonight, please?” She smiles uncomfortably.

I’m Beth, 30, only started watching Buffy last season when a friend sensed the Willow Tara thing in “Hush.” I’m a bit of a celebrity gawker – the high point of my life being when I tracked down Gillian Anderson and got my picture taken with her. I quit my fancy titled job at a well known gay-rights non-profit in Wash., DC to take 2 years of undergrad. courses so I can apply to vet school. I’ve always wanted to be a vet, I’m not getting any younger, I’m going for it. I grew up in New Hampshire, went to college in Houston, TX, live in Takoma Park, MD, and visit my family often in Nashville, TN. One girlfriend, 3 cats.

Am I a kitten yet?

Okay I've been lurking for quite some time and I've finally decided to post. First off I'd like to say this is one of the best boards around, not just because it's a Willow/Tara board but because everyone seems genuinely nice and open-minded.

Okay, now the info on me:
Age: 21
Location: South Texas
School: College, majoring in psychology
Interests: watching Buffy and Angel, playing my bass and listening to music (especially Stone Temple Pilots)

That's pretty much it for me.

The "Moment" has arrived...and so have I! Its time to delurk. Yes. I will stand before you all and say "I am a Willow And Tara Romance Junky." It has taken me many (viewing...;-) ) hours, yea, even days to face the facts, but now I can look myself in the mirror and say "Here stands a mush-ball at heart."

Seriously speaking, I got hooked on Buffy last year by two separate aquantances one a crusty old Anesthesiologist where I work who is a closet Buffyholic, and the other a close out-of-town freind who 'bats for my team', and told me one day, "yeah, you should be watching Buffy...there is definatly something going on with the Willow-Tara thing...I think there gonna hook them up." So to coin a phrase, "I came, I saw", I got my foot caught in the door. So here I am.

Info? i live in South GA, in the USofA. Am 40, an avid outdoors woman. except when I'm glued to the tube watching Xena; Warrior Princess(Xena & Gabrielle ROCK!!!), Buffy, or ER. Oh yeah and work, that cuts into my TV Viewerdom too. I'm a sugical technologist, specialzing in thoracic and vascular surgery.

How's That? Enough on the info front? Am I in yet? Can I be a kitten too???

Postby Kieli » Fri Mar 09, 2001 11:52 am

Ok ok......so I had to de-lurk b/c I'm trying to drum up some SERIOUS support for the Joss-Man. I think he's damn near a saint and has really gotten me more enthused about this season. I've even forsaken Xena for Buffy (*sigh* Alas, Rob Tapert doesn't have the stones that Joss does...the man can't even stand behind his own work). I almost wasn't a fan, to be perfectly honest. My hunny bunny of four years (married only two) got me into it by practically forcing me to watch it every Tuesday night (I used to complain about having to watch it about as much as having to watch that annoying Dawson's Creek and the truly irritating Felicity......how stupid was I, I ask you!)

So I'm 32, live in the back end of TX, have an amazing respect and admiration for the stripped down, bare-your-soul honesty that Alyson and Amber have put into their on-screen romance and yes....I have now become a romance junkie and total sucker for them *hangs her head* What is a self-respecting lesbian gotta DO to maintain her cool around here?!

Peace, kitties!

Postby this_girl_is_drowning » Sat Mar 10, 2001 4:43 pm

I had to do a bio last night for a commitee I'm joining...so I cheated and copied it here. With a few small changes --~~

I was born nearly 32 yrs ago in New Hampshire. With nothing much to do in small town New England, I developed an early and
overwhelming addiction to movies and television. Upon graduating from
Catholic High School, I decided I'd had enough of 'education' (and not knowing what I wanted anyway) and went to work full time as a video store manager (which really is the perfect job for a movie addict). This very
quickly led to an offer to do the video buying for the chain. Nearly 14 years, 5 companies and 4 States later; I find myself living in sunny SoCal (the SF Valley to be exact) and working as the Purchasing & Inventory Control Manager for an awesome indie video / dvd distributor.

More fun facts:

Obsessed with all things BUFFY - Joss is God and Amber rocks my world.

Addicted to XENA, ROSWELL and (hanging my head in shame) Survivor.

All-Time Favorite Movies: "Heavenly Creatures", "Aliens" and "Heathers"

Founding Member, POWER UP!

President, Official Alexandra Tydings Fan Club

That's about it. Oh yeah, my sign-on name is a reference to a painting a friend for my 25th birthday - an homage to Hamlet's Ophelia that she titled 'This Girl is Drowning'. I always thought that would be a really kewl name for a all-girl band...but it works just as well for a sign-on --~~

Now I'm really done. Hope it wasn't too boring.

I'm from Nashua, aka Trashua, aka Nausea. Now it sees like a great state, but growing up it didn't seem that great, that's why I escaped to Texas. ?!? Now, 12 years after escaping, I have NH pride. Does anyone else from NH love that President Bartlett on West Wing is from NH, and did you see ep. with the syrup debate, NH vs Vermont? I loved that!

Yeah Stacey, where in NH are you from?

Beth

OUOTE: Yeah Stacey, where in NH are you from?

Born & raised in Concord. I have lots of NH pride now that I don't live there . My pride mostly comes out when I hear the things mispronounced. I don't watch West Wing regularly...but last time I did see an ep Martin Sheen mispronounced Nashua, Concord and Laconia. Now it may be petty...but it's the little things. I mean, if you're gonna have the prez from NH...than you have to make sure he speaks like the locals --~~

btw -- I'll take NH maple syrup anyday

Beth, that intro was seriously funny. I know exactly what you mean about the 'smiling uncomfortably' though....the other night, my gf asked me to 'talk less' about Buffy. "Is it getting too much?" I asked her, my heart thudding painfully against my ribs.

"Well..um...yeah." she answered.

I knew then it would all end in tears.

Well, what can I say? Glad to have made someone over here in my little country jumpin' for joy (hi, Dr.G.!). I'm a female, from Amsterdam (yes, I'm lucky.....)a BtvS-fan, of course although I must say I'm currently rather annoyed with NET5 (G.,je weet wel wat ik bedoel....) and with the B.B.C.(same reason) cause they deprive me of my favorite show and may possibly be the cause of severe withdrawal-symptoms if it weren't for my video-copies I can fall back to. The reason for being more of a lurker of course is that I have not seen the new/recent episodes so there's little point of me giving you guys my 2 cents (as I'm outta cash so to speak, hahaha) But I really enjoy all your comments and links and what's most important; there's no bickering as is so frequent in a lot of these message boards; I have eliminated almost all others with the exception of Little Willows of course!!!

I've been reading this board for a while, but I just registered today. Don't ask me why...
I guess I'm just lazy.

See, I'm from Brazil, and the 5th season started last week here. But since I'm just too willow/tara fanatic I couldn't keep waiting.
Seen "The Body" already. It was the most beautiful episode of the season. Along with "Family", of course. And I also think Joss should get at least and Emmy nomination.

I'll love to join u . You all seem very nice.

Now I'm on the right thread. Thanks Xita.

Hey Concrete, I know what you mean. I have emailed Net5 and they told me they have bought S5, but they don't know when it will start, that was in december. My not seeing the episodes has not stopped me from posting my opinions however.

But now I *have* seen them, man it is great!
Anyway, if you want to use smilies, you can either click on "Smilies Legend" on the left of the box in which you type your text. That will open a page which shows you some codes for smilies. If you type : and e without a space you will get a super grin. You can also click on Crack's Smiles at the top of this page, it will bring you to the Walhalla of smilies. If you copy and paste the text of those smilies in your reply, they will show as smilies once you've posted.

Xita were did you get my picture anyway? Thank you for posting it. I am sure I shall be very popular with the ladies now...

Still can't get the darn greamlins to work....(ik ben toch echt niet stom of zo....)

I've been reading this board for a while, but I just registered today. Don't ask me why...

See, I'm from Brazil, and the 5th season started last week here. But since I'm just too willow/tara fanatic I couldn't keep waiting.

I'll love to join u . You all seem very nice.

Now I'm on the right thread. Thanks Xita.

Some kittie greeting flowers:

And your official kittie greeting certificates, suitable for framing:

And a kittie costume for when you want to feel just a little more kittie. (what, doesn't everyone have a kittie costume to wear in chat?)

-len, always late to the greetings...

Please tell us where you are from. If you say the Netherlands I will cry for joy, but any other country will be fine as well.

April dear, have some respect for your stalker, don't let the fact you are a moderator now go to your head. That has not stopped me when it comes to stalking Xita either.

Still can't get the darn greamlins to work....(ik ben toch echt niet stom of zo....)

Sorry to disapoint you Dr.G but i live in... Wales! But believe me i'd rather live in the Netherlands. God the weather is depressing. And i've got to wait at least six weeks to see the kiss. Six-whole-weeks!
And thanks for making me feel welcome, Why didn't i join sooner? (mutters to herself)

Yeah, and if you're lucky he'll still be there, and he can rip you're ams off for you.

"I'm going to be a mummy."

"Yes, yes you are."

welcome, ginner!

very happy to have you at the board...but you haven't seen the kiss yet? do you live outside of the US? we might be able to help you in this regard...email me at cyber_apple@hotmail.com for details.

by the way, i see that you've developed a fondness for xita and dr g. be warned - xita's the mean moderator, and dr. g is a very accomplished stalker. you've gotta be careful with those two.

oh and btw stacey and beth, my gf giggles with glee every time we watch the west wing and reference is made to pres. bartlett being from NH. go new hampshire go!

Ginner welcome!

Please tell us where you are from. If you say the Netherlands I will cry for joy, but any other country will be fine as well.

April dear, have some respect for your stalker, don't let the fact you are a moderator now go to your head. That has not stopped me when it comes to stalking Xita either.

Beth, your intro cracked me up. You are a Kitten with a capital K.

Still can't get the darn greamlins to work....(ik ben toch echt niet stom of zo....)

Hey you guys, what's up?

I've been reading this board for a while, but I just registered today. Don't ask me why...
I guess I'm just lazy.

See, I'm from Brazil, and the 5th season started last week here. But since I'm just too willow/tara fanatic I couldn't keep waiting.
Seen "The Body" already. It was the most beautiful episode of the season. Along with "Family", of course. And I also think Joss should get at least and Emmy nomination.

I'll love to join u . You all seem very nice.

Now I'm on the right thread. Thanks Xita.

Regards Everyone

Welcome to the board this_girl_is_drowning, ginner and concrete!!

Concrete, you have made Dr.G( ) very happy. I don't think you will ever know just how much. He's been such a lonely dutchman. Not no more! And for a Dr.G smiley try : immediately followed by an r. so : r with no space in between.

Hi sykora, welcome to the board!

It's so cool to see more and more international folks around, okay here some welcome gifts for you:

Some kittie greeting flowers:

And your official kittie greeting certificates, suitable for framing:

And a kittie costume for when you want to feel just a little more kittie. (what, doesn't everyone have a kittie costume to wear in chat?)

-len, always late to the greetings...

Hee hee Ginner, I don't know what they have told you about the weather *here*, but it sucks royally I tell ya, and we don't even know when S5 will start. Anyway, like I said any other country is fine. I was really hoping for someone from the Netherlands for quite a while now, and Woo Hoo I got my wish.

welcome, ambers.toy!! look out, though. with a name like that, you may take a beating around here...there are kitties lined up around the block for that title!

seriously, though, despite all the silly things i say about this board and the people on it, it's one of the coolest, friendliest places to be on the net.
