Today's poll at www.tvguide.com

Are you happy with the recent episodes of Buffy?

No. I hate to think that the Scoobies might not be real and that I've wasted six seasons of watching just for this.
1787 - 55%

Yes. I love thinking that Sunnydale might be a figment of Buffy's imagination and the trio of nerdy evildoers keep me laughing.
1472 - 45%

Still time to vote.

Don't worry, it's already been comfirmed by Marti Noxon, that it was just a brain-teaser, nothing more. Marti Noxon said that if it was a figment of her imagination, that it would have been the last ep. of the series. She basically said how it would have been a copout to the stories and characters, and they didn't want to do that. Nothing more than a brain teaser. I hope that brings some peace to you all, I know it does for me.

Well given that the nerd troika never fails to make me want to hurl there isn't much choice, and of course the entire series isn't a figment of Buffy's imagination, like someone rightly pointed out a few weeks ago, there would be no Angel then either.

PandoraSpocks,

Can you or anyone else point me in the direction to where this is?( is it an article in a magazine or something that can be found in the net) I so need proof or else my sister(also a BtVS fan) will never believe me. I so want to tell her about this. We've both been racking our brains about this for awhile now.

Wiltar4evr

If you go to 'EOnline.com' you should find it there. I not quite sure where, because my friend read it to me off his computer while on the net. He said it was on Eonline.com and it was a comment from Marti Noxon comfirming that it was just a brainteaser.
If you can't find it, I'll try and find it and make a link tomorrow, so let me know
I hope that helps you

I tried to create a link, but it wouldn't work. If you go into eonline.com, go to the top corner and type in Marti Noxons name and three articles should appear Wanda's gossip columns. It's the second one down, click on it and the first question answered is the ep 'Normal Again'

I liked that the episode played with the question of whether scary Sunnydale or scary mental-institution was real, but I didn't like that the final scene was in the mental-institution "reality". It seemed to be implying that it was the more real, which is probably what confused many "fans" into taking it more seriously than they meant it. Having no new episodes since then probably hasn't helped things.

I'm not sure what they could have done differently though; perhaps after the final "we've lost her" have one final Sunnydale scene where Buffy still has some lingering doubts about the reality she "chose". Supernatural Sunnydale is "real" (in the show), and that's what Buffy finally chose to accept as real, but the hallucinagens could have really messed her up and left her wondering whether she is just making it all up, even after the antidote drove out the hallucinations of the mental institution. That might have made it more clear that they aren't suggesting that the show has all been Buffy's insane imagination, while still playing with the question within the Sunnydale reality of the show of whether such fantastic things might be just her insane imagination and how Buffy deals with that occasional doubt or uncertainty.

i really liked it
its about choosing your own reality
I havent heared of anyone who actually lived in an alternatre reality and still managaed there meds food etc unless her personality has completly split with an external personality (that handles the staying alive stuff) and internal personality that doesnt sleep but actually lives inside her head in the alternate reality.

Personally I have never actually seperated from reality in that I still dealt with the outside world on some level but I have lived in the valley of death, set up home there, you know when death is a your friend and you lean on them to live another hour etc. I've certainly been catonic, beliveing an alternate world etc etc. I still get narcolepsia type stuff sometimes.

It would be intresting to see buffy having to climb out of such a mental world, I hope they have alonger episode where she spends moer time in reality. The point is ther is no way for her to know (as there is for any of us - see the matrix for the equivalent issues) which reality is true. Spending time with your family that you love in reality and possibly damming a world and your friends to a hell world without a slayer or excepting your role as the slayer and accepting that reality.

I choose to spend time writing this building a reality that i choose to live in but I coudl choose to leave here and do something else become someone completly different change my behaviour so I act totally diffrent and who is to say that reality is any moer valid than this? That the choice buffy faces and it would be mnice if they explored it in more depth
