NY Power won their season opener against Washington Freedom just a little bit ago. This is the Women's United Soccer Association. NY won 4-1 woo hoo. I only caught the last 35 minutes or so, but that much was pretty awesome. Mia Hamm is out until May with a knee injury. When my parents come out to NY in August she should be back and Washington is playing here and tickets are only $17. Woo Hoo some more.

Hey GridMonkey, I just got back from the Freedom-Power game! I live in DC, so I didn't like the outcome as much as I suppose you did

Hopefully the Freedom will be better when we get all of our players together... Right now both our first and second string goalkeepers (Sirri Mullinix and Erin Fahey) are out on injuries, as is Mia Hamm. Another starter, Skylar Little, can't play because she got a red card at the end of last season. Our new German defender Steffi Jones is still in Germany, and our two Chinese players (Bai Jie and Pu Wei) just got here and haven't had the chance to practice with the team.

Well, whatever happens, it will be hard for the Freedom to do worse than last season...

I was just hoping that Dawn Greathouse (the reserve goalkeeper who started tonight) would do better in this game, because she has hardly ever had the chance to play. Plus, she's short for a goalie. I'm a short goalie, so I've got to cheer her on

Here it is; the daily Mariners update. At one point down 3-0, the M's came back and won the game 9-4. Highlights of the game include two home runs and 3 RBI's by center fielder Mike Cameron. He now has 4 home runs this year. Pitcher Paul Abbott had his first win of the year. The Mariners improve their record to 9-3 and have won six in a row on the road.
