I'm so bored Tuesday MKF

Postby walker(d) » Tue Apr 16, 2002 8:20 am

See I don't get this either. It was 7 years ago. Most of the present cabinet were not involved. It was a total fuck up, granted, but the UN was just as much if not more to blame.

It's a very moral thing for the government to do but I also think it's completely irresponsible. It's been a while since I studied Dutch politics so this could have changed but as I understand it you cannot replace the government without an election. I remember this because it came with one of the best political analogies I've ever heard, 'it is unhygenic to change partners without changing the sheets'.

So the elections are in a month, the cabinet could be re-elected. In the interim no new legislation can be passed. Also, again relying on memory, the Dutch take forever to form government. Well not forever, but forming government in two months is considered quick. I think it took 208 days in 1977. The current government would act as the interim government in the mean time until a new government could be formed. But again as the cabinet resigned they could not pass any legislation.

In short, I think it is a noble act for the Dutch Cabinet to resign, but ultimately very irresponsible.

[b:53e44d3f3c]Sass:[/b:53e44d3f3c] I understand....sometimes it can be hard to not say "Who cares?" even when the situation is so dire.

[b:53e44d3f3c]Web Warlock:[/b:53e44d3f3c] GOOD LUCK ON YOUR INTERVIEW! *G*

[b:53e44d3f3c]LE:[/b:53e44d3f3c] Sorry literaryex....had to shorten your name for reasons like I love abbreviations *G* I was as shocked as you....I think it is so odd for us as Americans because we could NEVER think of our Congress, Senate, House of Representatives or President just resigning their posts en masse as a matter of conscience (or it very well could be a matter of politics...who knows?) I guess too, it's because we live in a country where our government no longer has ties to a monarchy and the political climate here is so very....how shall I say this...shark-like? I'd vote for anyone that even remotely acted like they had a conscience let alone that would help eradicate unemployment.

[b:53e44d3f3c]walker:[/b:53e44d3f3c] As an American, I sometimes feel that I am not qualified to comment on the political machinations of other countries....but I do agree with you that this action, while seeming to have good intentions, is rather irresponsible. To leave their country headless (as it were) without a government for an unspecified period of time is never a good thing. I can see their intent, but the actions somewhat rash.

Wow, I never expected to be in a political discussion today on such a lovely fun thread...but this article just made me dizzy for some reason.

"Because you know when you're alone in a house watching a movie while snuggling, you don't watch the movie for very long ..."

Wow I've always wondered if my teachers ever had naughty thoughts and now I know...teachers are people too! You should teach a lesson all about the great Willow Tara love! Or just watch Buffy episodes all day and analyze their relationship with your students :)

Whilst I am in no way a political expert, I can and do understand the reason why our government resigned. I dont think its irresponsible,my view is that is was an honorable thing to do and I dont think it was decided on a whim. Its of course a big deal over here, but not so much that the whole country is in turmoil. The prime-minister is still, at the request of the Queen, responsible for the everyday lock stock and barrel until the elections next month. Also, it does not matter that this was 7 years ago when all these atrocities happened, there is no stature of limitation for the death of 7.000 people. The government is responsible even for the actions of their predecessors (this is a fact by the way, not just my opinion). It was a shameful event with dire consequences. Oke, just my 2 euro-cents.

*snicker* Apparently, they'd be rubbing it for luck.

Or, "getting lucky", if you prefer.

J UK you r hilarious lol, When I saw ur avatar I became hypnotized to the motion (I was going through the motions) and please read dirty into what I just said. It really looks like there's contact. All the Kittens made me laugh with their boob talk, but I thought it was nothing more than a graze accidently by way of the hair, by your avatar me thinkst it more.

Yesterday on my friends PlayStation2 WWF game, I created the Sexist Willow, not bad for what I had to work with (limited facial features).

As for what they'd be doing, I like ENIGMATIC response about making love on the front lawn, but they'd probably snuggle and listen to the rain. :willow :tara

Well where I am in New Jersey its over 90 degrees so I happily studied outside until the heat got to be too much. All I can say is thank god for the invention of the air conditioner. As for the question I see W&T engaging in a tickle contest, but really they just want to touch each other, so they forgo the tickle fest and have hot sex!

[b:6f4ab4c626] WebWarlock:[/b:6f4ab4c626]Hope the interview went well!

Since it was a hot and humid day here in Wisconsin...I'll have to just use the old imagination to figure out what W/T would do on a wet and windy day...my guess would be spend the day cuddling and making out...(or maybe that just sounds like something fun to do) ;) :cool

Bored? read the spoiler thread or the spoiler free thread if you are that way inclined.

And when in doubt there is always good fic...although I recommend the first option...it certainly made good reading and killed A LOT of time.

Shell shocked Giants report...

rrrrmmmmmm...Giants got back into the winnings ways this evening behind a solid performance from Kurt Reuter...
Backed by a Benito Santiago 2 Run HR, the Giants cruised to a 5-1 victory tonight over the San Diego Padres.

Bonds walked 3 times tonight...the Pads wanted nothing to do with him.

I used to have very strong political views *before* I could vote, heh, ever since I haven't paid as much attention as I should. I just know who *not* to vote for, but that is where my political awareness ends. I am just a wee bit cynical about them resigning one month before the elections when it seems clear already that the coalition would not make it anyway. Oh well, I think we'll survive, I am just worried about which parties will form our next government, I am not enjoying the prospects and this just might make it worse.

Anyway, J_UK, thanks. :grin

LOVE the sig. It made me smile....Anyway, failed my Greek test today, grrr. It looked so easy when Willow was painting the Sappho poem onto Tara's back..bet that could make me concentrate ;) That'll teach me to take college classes after being inspired by TV. But hey, according to the Voyager Personality Test, I could captain a Federation Starship....who needs dead languages anyway?

Well now you are making me feel like an ogre [img:176b4e3f05]http://www.contrabandent.com/cwm/s/cwm/3dlil/ugh.gif[/img:176b4e3f05], praising my sig like that, but eh, you can't have pics in your sig. Everybody gets 3 lines of text + one separation line + one line with their name (just the name, not a whole sentence, heh).

Oh hum, I see Autumn already showed you the way in the test thread. I am redundant. [img:176b4e3f05]http://www.colute.net/cwm//otn/sad/1Cry.gif[/img:176b4e3f05]
