Gah, I got up early this morning because it was blowing a gale and raining loudly against my window. Plus somebody's back gate was thudding and banging away. It's hard to slip into a comfortable slumber when that's going on outside.

So, bleary eyed and needing a shower, I stumbled downstairs and after several cups of coffee and some much needed buttery toast, I'm here. Trying not to leave crumbs in the bed. Heh.

If I was an object, I think I'd be an object of desire. Hee. Well, either that or a rubber ducky. You know what I mean. Ahem.

As for Willow and Tara, well...I think they'd be one another's fingers. Surely.

On a side note, just had a customer some in who started talking to me about religion...asked what I was, saw my pentagram necklace, I told him I was Wiccan, then tried to convert me to the 'Church of the one true God...'....blearghh...but tolerance is a virtue, so I politely listened as he told me I'd be going to hell if I didn't convert... Oh well... just said to him, 'to each their own....anything that doesn't teach you to hate, or be prejudiced is a good thing in my book...!'

ya know i was having thoughts along these lines last week......thinking "oh to be that sand". but that needs explanation. was watching a play. took place ona beach. the set was covered in sand. main character/actress/wonderful person in many scenes when listening to someone else would be lying on a towel tummy down playing with the sand with her fingers. a very moving performance by all. but i kept thinking "oh to be that sand......"

I suppose I was prompted to write this after reading some of the comments about the parents in one of the fics here in Pens.

It made me stop and think. As a parent, what would I do.
What would I do if I walked in on "something" or my eldest came home and said "Mom I'd like you to meet David or John..." you get my drift.... and what if then my kid said.. "Oh.. and by the way... we're in love..."
HOW would I react.

As a parent you want the best for your child, it doesn't matter how old they get (and my eldest is 21) they will always be your 'baby' and you want to protect them.
But above all else, you want them to be happy.

I KNOW I would go through the "is it my fault" stage, as a single parent I would wonder, have I made mistakes in trying to be both Mom and Dad, given out confusing role and gender messages.
Then I would probably blame T.V., the school, friends at college.....
I suppose because I want my child to be happy I'd hope it was just a phase... kids are so much more open to experimenting these days.
But I read the papers... I watch the news. I would worry about promiscuity... are they being careful, practicing safe sex.
I would try to be supportive and hope we could talk about it without me over-reacting. I would for my childs sake, try to see past the gender and see the person they had fallen in love with. But I would also probably try to point out some of the statistics about these types of relationship working out.
The lack of commitment there seems to be. It appears that most of these relationships don't last more than a few years.
I KNOW that seems harsh but look at the facts. Most of these couples don't even commit to some form of marriage.. and those that do, well... just look at the divorce rates these days, higher than ever.... And it's so easy to get a divorce that some of them marry several times.

But.. I love my kids and who ever they fall in love with shouldn't matter.

And if My Eldest brought home a man?? I'd try and accept it.

But I think it would REALLY piss off her girl friend.
