Yay for great update-y goodness... I hope their clubbing doesn't become frontpage news... I loved their final ride together... I'm really glad that Tara didn't let Sheila off the hook that easily... Can't wait for their new adventures in LA...

I hope your mom is comfortable...

Loved it, Shelby. Willow shares a bond with all of her siblings. But, she's extra close with Hunter. I loved Shelia's little story of Willow and her separation anxiety when Hunt switched rooms. All is not forgiven with Shelia. But, she really is trying.

Poor, poor Jeff. We have all been there...lol

So, what trouble awaits our favorite couple in Los Angeles?...and now that they have cohabitated for the last week, how are they gonna deal with maintaining separate residences?...I see a U-Haul in Willow's future. That or multiple week long sleepovers!

Okay so I've done a horrible job at keeping up and writing feedback even after I said I would, I'm sorry :/
But I really really enjoy this story.
I remember you once mentioned that your Robbie and my Sohpie should get together and I think you are right. Since Robbie is outta this story, maybe he can jump into my story and take Sohpie far away? They will be good together :p Although their age difference might make a little issue :p
I think this story is really cute. I love the banter between all the siblings. I'm hoping that Shelia is truly sorry for what she has done and is going to keep trying to make things right.
I love the cute moments between the girls and I love how you describe how the other feels in such little ways that mean a lot. (I hope that made sense :p)
I love that Willow is a little country girl who loves horses, usually you see that role in Tara so it was a nice switch. I love how the characters are different, yet you still kept the Willowness and Taraness.
I really can't wait for more :)

Shelby,

Well, what a week, what a week!

You really can't explain or prepare someone for that special, unique brand of crazy that is your family adequately, can you?

Going home will be such a treat!

The Rosenberg Clan seem to be a good bunch, and even Sheila tried to at least be civil in the end. Frankly, considering some of the things Tara could have said I think she handled it well.

I felt sad for Willow, that image of her crying into Artemis was too much.

Good stuff.

(And on a side note, you & your mom are in my thoughts. You say things don't look good or even hopefully, then the best we can ask for is peaceful.)

Shel,

Woo Hoo, our girls are on their way out of Texas. It was one heck of a week, but I can't wait for them to get back to everyday life. Well, not that Tara's everyday life is ... everyday. Lol. Hmm, banquet coming up. I remember going to those. I hope Morgan doesn't pull some of her same old shit. If so, maybe Willow can put the smack down on her in a way that will make her never look sideways at Tara again.

Looking forward to more and as always you and yours are in my thoughts. Take care.

Hey Finey Actually I read it on Valentines Day after spending a day looking for a job. Ah can't you just smell the intoxicating aroma of romance in the air. ;)

I am so sorry to hear about your mom and as ever my thoughts and prayers are with you both. I've been there myself so I know what a crappy time you're probably going through.

“So, where we headed?” Eli asked. “Red River?”

Red River; that can only be a C/W club.

She planned on hanging on to Willow for a very long time and whether she wanted to admit it or not, their approval of her was very important.

YES, :applause :banana :eatme Tara plans to hang onto Willow now you just to get them married off. Where are those wedding bells when we need them.

“Getting a bag,” Tara replied waving the bag in Willow’s face with her free hand. She had a giddy inflection in her voice and Willow could tell that she was obviously still a bit tipsy.

I do enjoy reading scenes where either Willow or Tara are a little tipsy, it's the opportunity for them to do the maddest things.

The story of how Willow hated being alone and would sneak into bed with her brother is just another reminder of how adorable she can be. It's also good to see that Tara isn't ready to let Sheila off the hook so quickly after her behaviour towards her and defends Willow's choice to be able to make her own decisions. Even if Sheila doesn't like it.

Such a sad, sweet moment between the girls when Tara finds Willow crying on Artemis' back and comforts her.

Such a sweet, beautiful end to a fun and entertaining chapter with a great deal of love between Willow and Hunter evident. Now does the opening weekend mean that he and Molly are going to visit the girls in LA??? That could be a whole lot of fun. Even more so if Willow teaches Tara the line dance and they go to an L.A. country and western club. Plus there's the fun of Tara going SNL and being in some sketches. Do they still do that over there?

Hey, Shelby!

First, welcome back - the KB wasn't the same without you and RtR!!! I just saw this (crazy RL) tonight and went: :bounce :clap :pinky :party :eatme :applause :pinky :banana :bounce

Dibs-Mistress AstronSoul just NAILED about everything I wanted to say, so I'll have to work to find some new ground!

First, the description of the first club and how Tara handled herself to avoid too much attention. All of that seemed so real to me! Makes me wonder if you hang with the celebs! Seriously, it was detailed and really engaging. Like the clothing comparison between the three boys, really identifying their differences then having them all (including Willow) hop up for the line dance - always loved "Footloose".

Gotta echo Astie on the various Willow wardrobe-y wonders - that passage was really sweet and shows how much Tara truly loves her.

Enjoyed Jeff getting blotto, okay, I'm warped! But the banter and loathesomeness brought hilarity to mind!

Glad you didn't have them mobbed or harassed; there's a lot of responses and you're not falling into the same one. Another thing I've noticed is that some celebrities can kind of "damp down" their energy so that they are fairly invisible. I imagine Tara can do this somewhat, since she's a good actress.

I liked the conversation between Sheila and Tara a lot. It was very believable and didn't end on a Disney with hugs all 'round. For the first time, I saw some of Sheila's sadness and felt a little bit for her (instead of AT her, strangulation, for instance). She can't let go. I don't like it but I can understand and sympathize a bit. As for Tara, she's kind, but she's not gullible and her first loyalty is to Willow. Again, great job!

The scene with Willow on Artemis was very touching and very beautiful; loved Tara's comfort and then the best comfort - them sharing a ride together.

I also loved the taste of canon about there being no question that Tara would be her date for the Softball Dinner and the clear signal of how important Willow is to Tara. I also want to say that I hope Willow understands that Tara does have a schedule and that she needs to be supportive by keeping her partner better informed, but I think Willow is going to start catching on to that fairly soon. She's been under a lot of stress going home.

Just to wrap up Texas, you enriched Willow's character so much, really rounded her out beautifully with great details while remaining true to her character. So wow and a bow for you! :bow :bow :bow And I LOVE this story!!!!!!! :love

Thanks so much for sharing your imagination with us! :flower

Hey Shel,
First and most important thing is that I'm so sorry for your loss.

This update was quite fun. I like the way Tara basically uses her fame to try to negate the effect of it. Like she doesn't want extra because she's a star. She just wants to be able to go out with friends/family without it being a circus. So that's what she tries to get -- a normal evening. Poor Jeff. It seems like they all had fun.

Now back to LA! Yay. The formal thing should be fun. I wonder what the athletic department expects when they schedule something like that... like 1/2 F/F couples or more? You know. Yay for more whenever it works for you.

Hey Shelby. I'm really sorry to hear about your loss.

I know this is a little late but better late than never right? This was a very refreshing, fun to ready update. The whole bar scene was hillarious. And a little too familiar. But you wrote it very well. It was sad but I liked the dialog between Tara and Sheila too. There's an understanding there, even if neither is giving in. I'm looking forward to what happens when they get back to LA. Great update.
Anya: I don't like the sound of this. They don't sound very ex-demon compatible.
Tara: Are you sure they're English? I thought English people were, um, gentler than uh... normal people.

Hello there! :bigwave I'm resurfacing again from real life craziness to say I'm still here and still enjoying this fic very much!

I loved this last update! What a fun way to end their, sometimes trying, trip to Texas. Can't wait to see what LA has in store for them now that they are home.

Can't wait for the next update! I hope things have taken a turn for the better with your Mom.

Glad to see that Shelia and Tara finally were able to sit down and talk like adults. I was hoping Shelia was going to say something to Tara and Willow so they didn't leave on bad terms. Some rough spots in the beginning, but overall a good trip to Texas. Looking forward to reading more.

TITLE: Racing The Rain

AUTHOR: Finey_McFine

RATING: R (Language)

DISCLAIMER: Willow, Tara and any other BtVS characters, as well as some random dialog, belong to Mutant Enemy. ALL other original characters belong to me! This includes: Willow’s siblings and teammates, plus Tara’s friends and co-workers. Mention of any ‘real’ people in this fic is brief and pure fantasy.

SUMMARY: Totally AU! Set in LA with lots of W/T fluff and some angst, but no Hellmouthyness; just good old regular day-to-day drama. Willow is attending college on an athletic scholarship and Tara is Hollywood royalty. They meet and fall in love, of course, but will they be able to survive the pitfalls of a public romance? Well, you’ll just have to read and find out! ;-)

FEEDBACK: Yes! Any glaring issues…please send me a PM!

AUTHOR’S NOTE: Hi Everyone and Happy Tuesday! First, I would like to thank you all for the condolences regarding my Mom’s passing. She was very sick and in a lot of pain, although her death was sudden, it wasn’t totally unexpected and we are relieved that she is finally at peace. Secondly, thanks for the get-well wishes! One day I had allergies and the next pneumonia…yee haw! On the bright side, I’m home now and on the mend. ;-) With that said, I hope that ya’ll can find it in your hearts to give me a pass on answering feedback. I fear that if I don’t just post this chapter, it my never get done. Lastly, a big special THANKS to Ariel for a quick proof and catching my word repetition, repetition. It was very SWEET of her to lend me a hand at the last minute. :grin

Chapter 59:Home Sweet Home

Willow plopped down into the seat holding her hands across her stomach just as Tara was hanging up the inflight phone.

“Did you get hold of Cyndi?” The redhead asked.

Tara scowled, “No, she must not be back yet; probably flying just like us. I did manage to talk to someone at the car company and they’re gonna send a few extra people to help us out.” Tara sighed, “I really need to find another assistant.”

“Umm,” Willow moaned.

“Hey, are you ok? You’ve been to the restroom three times and you look a little…pale.”

“Yeah, I’m ok. I just…” Willow leaned closer and whispered into Tara’s ear, “I got my period and my tummy hurts.”

“Ohhh baby, what can I do?” Tara’s eyes were full of love and concern as Willow simply shrugged her shoulders. “I think I have some aspirin…” Tara’s voice trailed off as she leaned forward and began to rummage through her purse.

Willow shook her head and whispered again, “It’ll make me bleed worse, plus I already took some ibuprofen about thirty minutes ago; hopefully it kicks in soon.”

“Alright, just lay back and try to relax, I’ll order you some hot tea and maybe it’ll help a little.”

“Ok Tare,” Willow pushed her seat back into a reclining position and tried to get comfortable while Tara summoned the flight attendant.

Tara prepared the tea for Willow the way she liked it, extra sweet and carefully handed over the hot cup. Willow smiled, “Mhmm, thanks baby, this really hits the spot,” She smiled tenderly at her girlfriend, “So, how bad do you think it’ll be in LA?”

“Well, not good. It’s all over Twitter and…people in Houston sure like to tweet.”

“A regular flock of song birds!” Willow mused.

Tara smiled only slightly and looked at Willow with mournful eyes, “I’m s-sorry Will. I’m sorry that we can’t go anywhere without being stalked and mobbed. This life it’s…sometimes I just feel like walking away, leaving everything behind and moving into a shack in the forest or something.”

“Well, as long as you take me with you…” Willow added quietly.

Tara chuckled and took Willow’s free hand in hers, placing a kiss on top, “I’ll never leave you sweetie,” She said sincerely.

“Tara,” Willow said seriously and trying to ignore her cramping stomach, “Why do you stay? I mean, why do you do it?”

“Act?” Tara clarified, receiving a nod from Willow. “Well, aside for it being the only thing I’ve ever done, I…I really love it. The um, the acting I mean, not the, you know, getting mobbed part. It’s an incredible feeling Will, to be able to take the words that someone else has written and give them life, substance…it’s amazing. I get to transform into someone else, put my own spin on the character. It’s exhilarating and challenging, plus it doesn’t ever get boring.” Willow watched Tara in wonder as her eyes twinkled and lit up when she talked about her passion for her profession. “I never did it to be famous, that’s the goal of a lot of people, but it never was for me. I started young because it was fun and it still is; in fact, it’s probably the only reason I do stay. When I was little I did a lot of commercials and a few movies, I didn’t even know what I was doing. All I knew was that, I got to go somewhere and have fun all day; I got to run around and play dress up. Then when I started school, my Mom pulled me out of acting professionally, but I got involved with the school drama club and the first time I went on stage and got applauded…I knew it was what I wanted to for the rest of my life. I mean, to have people clapping and cheering for me, it was such a rush and it still is.” Tara ducked her head, slightly embarrassed, “Wow, that sounded completely narcissistic, didn’t it?”

Willow shook her head, “No, actually it didn’t. It just sounded like someone who loves what she does.”

“I’d imagine that you probably feel the same way, when you hit a homerun or make an impossible play or even when you hear the audience chanting for you to do a backflip,” Tara winked and half smiled at Willow.

Willow nodded agreement, “I should put a patent on that flip before someone else steals it,” smiling and returning Tara’s wink, “You’re right though, it is a total rush when you get it right, plus, you have to admit, winning medals and awards...not too shabby either.”

Tara laughed, “Well, you’re right about that. I don’t worry about getting nominated, in fact I don’t even get upset if I’m not, but when I am,” Tara leaned into and whispered to Willow, “Secretly, I really want to win; just to be able to say to myself, even for a brief moment that, I’m the best.

“Thank you,” Willow said honestly.

“For what? Admitting that I’m full of myself?” Tara chuckled.

“No silly, for sharing that with me. I love talking to you and learning new things; what makes you tick, so to speak.”

“W-What happens when you know everything there is to know?” Tara said shyly and dipped her head.

Willow reached up and ran her fingers through Tara’s hair, “Well, I suspect by then we’ll be all old and gray and we’ll have forgotten almost everything, so when you tell me something, it’ll be new all over again.” She said with a sly smile.

Tara snorted, Willow always had a way of touching her heart, “And what makes you think I’ll ever be gray?”

Willow began to laugh, then groaned and clutched her stomach. “Ugh, damn it.”

“Oh Sweetie, I wish I could rub your tummy and make it feel better.”

Willow pouted, “Me too,” She said in a child like voice that completely melted Tara’s heart.

“Awww, try to get some rest. We’ll be home soon.”

Willow nodded as she leaned her seat back, closed her eyes and snuggled up to Tara.

**************************************

An hour and a half later, they were trudging through LAX on their way to baggage claim. Willow was still feeling under the weather, but she was doing a pretty good job of hiding it. She in no way wanted to embarrass Tara, so she bucked up and put on her best game face. A few fans recognized Tara, but they were pretty much left alone until they reached baggage claim. Willow and Tara were standing side by side holding hands as they rode down the escalator and right into a sea of Paparazzi.

“Hoooly shit,” Willow mumbled, tightening her grip on Tara’s hand as she scanned the crowd counting at least thirty photographers and reporters; maybe more.

They clambered around the bottom of the escalator, shouting and calling to Tara and Willow; leaving very little room for the girls to exit. Tara and Willow moved forward slowly, trying their best to navigate the mob of Paparazzi without physically pushing anyone. Luckily, airport security and several men in black suits, from the car company, met them fairly quickly. The men surrounded them and escorted them to the luggage belt, where they helped to retrieve their bags before whisking them away in the waiting Lincoln Town Car.

Once in the car, Willow collapsed into Tara; She laid across the backseat with her head in Tara’s lap, pulling her knees up and clutching her aching stomach once again. Tara’s face was etched with concern as she ran her fingers lightly through Willow’s hair and gently rubbed her back. She’d never seen Willow like this before and she was starting to get worried. As the car pulled up in front of Tara’s house, Willow practically leapt out before the car even had a chance to stop completely and rushed inside; making a beeline straight for the bathroom. Tara assisted the driver with the luggage before making her way in to check on Willow.

Tara frowned when she found her girlfriend on the bathroom floor, slumped over the toilet and vomiting; while simultaneously trying to push a very excited Ralphie out of the away.

“Ralphie, stop it! Come here!” She shouted, pulling the little dog’s attention from the redhead as she ushered him out and closed the bathroom door.

A moment later, Tara was on her knees next to Willow wiping her face with a wet cloth and holding her hair. “Sweetie, are y-you ok? Do I need to call a doctor?”

Willow shook her head, “No, I’m ok. These cramps are just making me really nauseous, but um, I feel a little better now; I need to lie down.” Willow groaned suddenly and slumped to her right; attempting to lie down on the bathroom floor.

Tara caught Willow as she stared to go down, “Will, come on sweetie, we need to get you cleaned up, then into bed and after that I’ll get you the heating pad for your tummy.”

Tara spent the next ten minutes helping Willow get cleaned up and then carefully led her wobbly girlfriend to the bedroom and sat her down on the edge of the bed. Willow was already undressed down to her underwear, so Tara divested her of her shirt and bra, replacing it with a tank top and laid her down in the bed. Willow immediately curled into a ball; wrapping her arms around her tummy and moaning. Tara covered Willow with the comforter and left to find the heating pad. She returned a few minutes later with the warming device, plugged it in and wrapped it around Willow’s stomach. She sat for a while next to her girlfriend, rubbing her back until she was sure that Willow was asleep.

Tara wiped several strands of sweaty hair from Willow’s cheek before she leaned in and gently pressed a kiss near her ear, “Love you baby,” She whispered before quietly exiting the room.

As soon as Tara was out the door Ralphie was bouncing at her feet; he seemed no worse for wear after being unceremoniously booted from the room earlier. Tara squatted down to pick up her beloved pooch, but she didn’t make it very far as he anticipated her move and leapt into her arms.

“Awww, how’s my little guy? Did you miss me? Yes baby, I missed you too! And so did your other Mommy, but she’s not feeling good, so you’ll have to wait and see her later.” Tara paused and reflected on her words as she sat down on the couch with Ralphie in her lap, stroking his head lightly. “Hmm well, I’m pretty sure she loves you as much as I do. Plus, I like to think of myself as Mommy number two to a certain kitty as well.” No sooner had the words left Tara’s lips when she heard mewing that was headed in her direction. Looking up, she saw Miss Kitty sauntering across the top of the couch. “Hi Miss Kitty!” Tara said as she reached up to scratch the top of Miss Kitty’s head. Miss Kitty nuzzled Tara’s hand and moved closer to nuzzle her face as well. This of course didn’t sit well with a certain jealous dog that decided to stand in Tara’s lap, with his feet on her chest and playfully growl and nip at Miss Kitty. Not in the mood for his antics, the agitated feline hissed and slapped at his face with her claws out; causing a loud yelp from Ralphie.

“Hey! Hey! Is this what you two did the entire time we were gone? Now both of you can get down.” She said as she sat Ralphie on the floor and did the same to Miss Kitty. As soon as both were together, hijinks ensued as Miss Kitty rolled on her back and playfully slapped at Ralphie who in turn reached a paw forward and made soft growling sounds as the two continued to amuse each other. Tara smiled and ruffed the top of Ralphie’s head as she jumped up from the couch and walked the short distance to the kitchen pantry. She rummaged through the shelves and frowned when she was unable to find what she was looking for. Ralphie was again at Tara’s feet, wagging his tail and looking up hopefully.

“Here you go boo-boo,” Tara said as she dropped a rawhide chew in Ralphie’s mouth. The happy pooch trotted off and jumped on his pillow to gnaw on his tasty treat. “Mama has to go out for a bit, so I need you to take care of Mommy for me, ok?” Tara smiled as she grabbed her keys and purse and headed out the door.

****************************

Less than an hour later Tara returned, after having successfully navigated through the Paparazzi, with several grocery bags in tow. She deposited the bags on the kitchen counter and cracked open the bedroom door to find that Willow was just as she had left her; out cold and snoring softly. Not wanting to wake her girlfriend, Tara eased the door closed and returned to the kitchen. After putting away her groceries, Tara grabbed a basket off the kitchen island and made herself comfortable on the living room couch as she began the tedious task of sorting through the mail.

Willow turned over in bed and instinctively reached for her girlfriend, but was met with air instead. She groaned as she sat up and stretched her arms over her head. Willow was hot and a little sweaty as she peeled back the covers; removing the heating pad and shutting the device off. Her brain was still slightly foggy and she felt weak as she tossed her legs over the side of the bed and attempted to stand. Her legs were a little wobbly as she padded towards the bathroom to brush her teeth and wash her face. A few minutes later she made her way out to the living room where she found Tara diligently sorting through her mail.

Tara heard the familiar creak of the bedroom door and looked up to see the most adorable sight she’d ever seen. Willow was standing in the doorway looking completely disheveled with a horrible case of bedhead, but to Tara she was beautiful. Tara sat up and placed the mail in her lap on to the coffee table; clearing the spot for Willow and opening her arms to welcome the redhead into her lap.

“Hey sweetie, how are you feeling?” Tara asked with concern as Willow pulled her knees up and curled into her chest, moaning softly. Tara ran her hands over Willow’s back, pulling her even tighter. Several minutes passed in silence until Tara heard a soft sniffle coming from her girlfriend. “Hey, are you crying?” Tara asked and was met with a slight nodding motion from Willow.

Willow sniffled again, “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to disappoint you.”

“What?” Tara asked completely stumped by Willow’s explanation until she realized what the redhead was getting at as she remembered a previous conversation where they had talked about having a ‘naked’ end to the weekend. “Oh baby, no…absolutely no disappointment here.”

“But…but we had plans and then you had to deal with, you know, and-”

“Willow, I love you, you’re my girl and when you need me, it’s my job to care for you. Besides, in a few days or so the situation will probably be reversed.”

Willow snuggled deeper and pressed a kiss to Tara’s neck, “Thank you, I love you too.”

“Will, is this normal for you?” Tara asked as she continued to gently massage Willow’s back.

“Not all time, but it does happen every so often. I think it was because I went riding this morning…kinda shook everything up, ya know.”

“Have you told your doctor?”

“Yeah, she ran a bunch of tests and said that everything is fine; just to take it easy when it gets bad. The um, the barfing, well…that was a first. I think I must have gotten air sick and then the ride home in the back seat…”

“Ohhh baby, I’m sorry.”

“It’s not your fault Tare, it’s just how my body decided to react. Plus, I’m sure everything that I’ve eaten the last week didn’t help matters. I kinda feel like eating nothing but salad for a month.” Willow laughed lightly.

“I know what you mean, I hope I can fit into wardrobe next week.” Tara added as Willow started to push up out of her lap. “Hey, where are you going?”

“Oh, I’m just thirsty. I think I got a little dehydrated.”

“You stay here and rest, I’ll get it.”

“But Tara-” Willow started but was silenced with a long slender finger pressing against her lips. She finally acquiesced, kissing the finger and allowing Tara to get her a drink.

Tara returned a few minutes later with a bottle of tropical Gatorade™ and a package of saltine crackers. Willow looked at Tara with a questioning glance, “I went to the store while you were sleeping.”

“Awww, that was so sweet, thank you baby.” Willow said leaning in and kissing her girlfriend. She took several sips of the Gatorade™ and began to munch on one of the crackers.

“I um, I got you a little present too.”

Willow’s head popped up and her eyes glistened, “Really?” She exclaimed grinning, as her tongue slipped out between her teeth.

Tara snickered, “You are too much and extremely irresistible when you do that.”

“Do what?”

“Poke your tongue out between your teeth when you grin,” Tara said with a half smile causing the redhead to blush, “You did that the first day we met and I remember thinking it was the cutest thing I’d ever seen.”

“And I adore that sultry half smile, you know…the one that only I get to see.”

“Ummm,” Tara moaned when she felt Willow’s fruity red lips pressed firmly against hers, “you taste salty and sweet…feeling better?”

“Much, so um…what about that present?”

“Incorrigible,” Tara gave Willow a couple quick pecks on her lips before heading into the kitchen. She retrieved a large shopping bag and brought it back to Willow. “It’s not that big of a deal, I just saw it and thought you might like it.”

Willow sat up on the edge of the couch as Tara handed her the bag. “Tare! Thank you baby. You’re the best!” Willow exclaimed as she pulled the large box containing an iced tea maker out of the bag. “So, we’re already at that point in our relationship where we’re giving each other household appliances?” She quipped with a wry grin.

Tara snorted with laughter, “Oh God, I hope not! I just noticed that you drank a lot of it when y-you were home and I thought that um, maybe…y-you’d like to have one here; at m-my house here, I mean...”

Tara nervous babble was adorable and Willow loved every second of it. “Thank you, we can enjoy it together,” Setting the box on the floor, Willow cupped Tara’s cheeks and pulled her in for a quick kiss. “Mmhmm, you’re the best.”

Tara giggled, “It’s a kitchen appliance Will.”

“Yes, but it’s the thought that counts and you just scored a lot of thought points.”

Tara rolled her eyes, “You’re just easy to please.”

“Easy being the operative word when it comes to you,” Willow winked and shot Tara a seductive grin.

“Hey, no teasing! Especially since, you’re…you know.” Tara said as she pointed a slender finger towards Willow’s lap and twirled it in a circle.

“Ok, ok…so, where’s Pam anyway? I kinda expected her to be here when we got back.”

“Oh ummm…” Tara mumbled as she shuffled through the stack of letters on the coffee table, finally producing a folded piece of paper and handing it to Willow.

Willow scanned the note and smirked, “She took off early so we could have some alone time? Damn, too bad I’m ridin’ the cotton pony.”

Tara’s mouth fell open as she looked at Willow with what could only be described as a combination of shock, horror and general amusement. “Seriously?”

“What?” Willow asked with as innocent a face as she could muster. How about, “Surfing the crimson tide? Any better? No?”

Tara sat staring and shaking her head until she couldn’t take it any longer and burst into a fit of giggles as she and Willow fell back on the couch. When the laughter finally subsided, they settled in to spend the last day of their vacation snuggled together; sharing whispers of love, gentle caresses and many soft kisses.

Dibs :whip

Hey Shelby, I found it ironic that you called this chapter Home Sweet Home after you yourself had just returned home. Kinda sweet. I wonder if you did that on purpose or it was just a happy accident.

Wow, okay I think I learned far too much about Willow's menstral cycle in this chapter, lol. It actually kinda has me worried. Someone of her size, metabolism and level of athletic activity shouldn't be having bad periods at all. In fact it would be normal for her to skip periods entirely and be completely irregular. So, now I'm wondering if there is something wrong or not. If there isn't and you were just using the incident to show their closeness and love for one another even when not having sex, then that works, too. :)

Glad you're back on the board. Looking forward to hearing more from you.

Yay for excellent update-y goodness... Yay for them being back on LA... Big yay for them discussing about why Tara acts and Willow plays softball... Big bummer for Willow getting her period just when they get back home... Lol for Ralphie's & Miss Kitty's antics, Tara should check her furniture for damage caused by those furry friends... Yay for Tara getting Willow an iced tea maker. Willow's U-Haul cannot be far behind :-p ...

Hey, Shelby!

First, loved the Tara-tenderness with Willow and their closeness and caring together. Have to echo Zampsa - loved hearing why Tara loves to act and thank you for that, I've wanted to hear about it myself! So a big YAY on that one!

Loved "surfing the crimson tide" and "riding the cotton pony" phrases I had never heard before and will never forget! :lmao

But what I loved best was them cuddling on the couch and reallizing that the best times are always them together.

Welcome back!

YAY it's great to see you back on the KittenBoard Shel and again you have my deepest condolences for your mother. :flower

Ooh, poor Willow having a period and an achey tummy.

Hmmm, could this be a foreshadowing of Tara's future, walking away and leaving it all behind to live with Willow.

I agree with Zampsa, it is cool about how they talk about their passions and why they act and play softball and why they love doing these particular activities. I'm guessing Tara's love of acting is taken from Amber's telling in the past how she loved being on stage in community theatre and being applauded for it.

Awww the scene where Tara looks after poorly Willow is so sweet and is just another reminder of how deep the love these girls have for each other is.

I like how Tara refers to Willow as Ralphies other mommy and that she (Tara) considers herself Miss Kitty's other mom. The way that Tara talks to Ralphie is so cute too.

Ohhh, it's such a sweet end to the chapter with Tara giving lots of TLC to her beloved Willow.

First I'd like to say that I'm very sorry for your loss, it must be incredibly hard for you even when it was a release for your mom.
That in this hard time you still gift us with updates means al lot to me, thank you!

I loved the tenderness with which Tara cared for Willow here, another proof of the depth of her love. And I found it very cute that Tara refered to Willow as Ralphie's Mommy while she is his Mama - nice glimpse of future "real" motherhood with human babies.

Willow's period problems are really intense, I'm glad mine is not as bad. I too hope it's not a sign for something being wrong with her, but she mentioned her doctor saw no cause of alarm, so everything is allright, right?

I also loved how they shared their passions for acting/the sports career with each other, my favorite part was this:

Now I really hope their return into their respective everyday life where they aren't together won't be too tough and they won't be accosted by paparazzi too much. I hope Willow will move in with Tara soon so they can spend as much time together as possible.

Poor Willow. I've been there and it sucks. I'd hate flying. I guess it's just wonderful that they had a limo and that Pammie took care of the house while they were gone.

First, I've said it before but I will say it again. I'm sorry for your loss. Personally, I know it doesn't help, but I'm still sorry. Glad to see the girls back at home. Poor Willow! Looking forward to more, but take your time! Kitten love!

How did I miss this update?!

I love the affection you were able to portray with Tara taking care of Willow. I'm still a little worried that her cramps might be from something else... especially since she puked. That is exactly how I felt when my appendix was removed.

Looking forward to another amazing update, Doll Face!

Holy crap. Shelby I'm sorry. I just realized I didn't leave feedback on this update. It was written as a great way to show the tenderness between the two. A little concerned about Willow's health but I'll patiently wait for the next update.

True_Love:
The title was just a happy accident. :grin I actually wrote it before my little hospital stay…at the time, I didn’t plan on getting pneumonia, lol.

Anyway, don’t worry too much about Willow. She was just having a bad day, which managed to interrupt their last vacation day together. I’m writing a happy little fic about day to day stuff, so nothing life threatening.

Thanks for the feedback!

Zampsa19752001:
Yes, back in LA and back to the vultures! No U-Hauls just yet…maybe in the future though. We’ll just have to wait and see:)

Thanks for the feedback!

sarancrys1017:

Thanks!! Glad you liked!! ;-)

Ariel:
Glad you liked the part on Tara’s love for acting and Willow’s love for softball. The acting part was just for you. :p

Loved "surfing the crimson tide" and "riding the cotton pony" phrases I had never heard before and will never forget!
Yeah, I recently said that to my daughter and I thought she was going to kill me, lol.

More sweet cuddling to come!!

Thanks for the feedback!

willowtaralover:
my deepest condolences for your mother
Thanks Rick.

Hmmm, could this be a foreshadowing of Tara's future, walking away and leaving it all behind to live with Willow.
Well, she has two more years on her TV contract and just signed for a movie, so it won’t be anytime soon. But you never know………

Willow’s love of softball and all things sport-y probably comes directly from me, lol. As for Tara, that little nod to acting was for Ariel, but yes, I did take a little from listening to Amber talk about why she loves it so much:)

First it’s pet ‘mommies’ then the u-haul, lol.

Thanks for the feedback!!!

wills_redemption:
Thanks for the condolences. It’s always tough losing a parent.

Since it was Willow doing all the caring in canon, I thought I’d switch it up a little…without the life or death drama. Although, bad periods can feel like death sometimes… :p But don’t worry too much about Willow, she’s fine just a bad cycle.

I’m glad you liked that little section of Tara worrying about the “what if’s.” Even thought she is in the top 1% super famous, and could have anyone she wanted…she’s still just a girl, with insecurities like the rest of us.

Thanks for the feedback!!

JustSkipIt:
Yeah, bad periods are the worst, combined with flying and backseat car sickness…definitely a recipe for disaster. I know what you mean about flying, I don’t hate it, but I don’t love it either. I tend to get air-sick sometimes and it’s not fun.

Thanks for the feedback!

Babbles4Twillow:
Thanks for the condolences and it does help, just knowing that people care. :blush

Thanks for the feedback!

fhiwda:
How could you possibly miss a Racing update!! Aagghh!!! Lol :grin

Glad you liked it! I think those little moments in a relationship are the most important. I it really shows true feelings and can make or break a couple.

Thanks for the feedback!

beautiful_love:
No worries, about forgetting fb or Willow’s health…she’s fit as a fiddle! :p

Thanks for the feedback!

TITLE: Racing The Rain

AUTHOR: Finey_McFine

RATING: NC17

AUTHOR’S NOTE: Hi Everyone and Happy holiday weekend! I hope everyone is enjoying his or her respective holiday celebrations. ;-) I’m about to commence with Easter Bunny duties myself, if this kid ever goes to sleep. :gnome So, as I patiently wait, I thought I’d post a chapter. Enjoy!

Chapter 60:Reconnecting

Willow was lying on her stomach across her bed, “Finally,” She said out loud as she highlighted the last line on the page. It was a small moment of relief that quickly passed when she realized that she’d inadvertently highlighted every single sentence on the page, instead of just the important points. She frowned in defeat, feeling betrayed by her Advanced Animal Biology textbook and the section on the inner workings of a horses’ esophagus. Willow closed the offending book and rolled on to her back. She stretched her arms wildly over her head, finally clasping her fingers together and sliding her hands under her head. She lay quietly staring at the ceiling and thinking about how much she missed Tara this week.

After returning from Texas, Willow and Tara had hardly seen each other the entire week. In fact, they hadn’t spent any time together since Tuesday, and to Willow, the following three days felt like an eternity. She was beginning to rethink her self-imposed ‘Taraless’ exile. On the other hand, however, Willow knew that it was the only way she’d be able to finish her zoology project and also study for finals. She’d given up at Tara’s and returned to her apartment late Tuesday afternoon after unsuccessfully trying to get some quiet time at her girlfriend’s house.

Tara’s house had taken on somewhat of a carnival like atmosphere, with people randomly coming and going. Cyndi had set up camp at the kitchen table, not to mention Tara’s agent, as well as her manager, seem to have become permanent fixtures around the house. There was a buzz in the air and Tara’s phone had not stopped ringing. The actress was receiving calls from TV news reporters, magazines, and bloggers; all wanting the first interview and photo shoot with the newly outted super celebrity. Tara was the talk of the town. The ‘it’ girl and her ‘people’ were taking full advantage of the situation; getting Tara as much positive exposure as possible.

Willow, unfortunately, didn’t have people and was starting to feel the pressure and backlash of her having a megawatt girlfriend. Not only had her phone not stopped ringing as well, but the paparazzi had been pursuing her relentlessly all week, following her every move and publishing photo’s on a daily basis; Willow walking to her car, Willow sitting in class, Willow eating lunch or studying in the UCLA library. Twice she had to call Stacy to come pick her up because she couldn’t get to her car in the school parking lot. It was insane and had Willow not had the added pressure of finals, she would probably not be feeling so alone and stressed at the moment. She longed for Tara, considering several times to pack up her books and just head over, but logic won out and she stayed put. Willow and Tara had talked on the phone and texted several times a day, but it wasn’t the same. She sighed deeply, planning to close her eyes for only a moment, but instead she fell fast asleep.

**********************************************

Tara gripped the silver heart shaped locket tightly in her fist as she ascended the stairs leading to Willow’s second floor apartment. Tara was frazzled and couldn’t figure out why she was so nervous; maybe it was because she was showing up unannounced at one o’clock in the morning or maybe because of the dream she awoke from that had shaken her to the core. Either way, she was a nervous wreck and at that moment she needed comfort…she needed Willow.

With a shaky hand, Tara inserted the slender silver key into the lock, doing so as quietly as possible until she heard the click as she slowly opened the door. Tara could see a dim light coming from Willow’s room down the hall, “Willow,” She whispered into the darkened apartment as not to startle her girlfriend. When she received no reply, she closed and locked the door behind her. She sat her purse and keys softly on the floor, slid off her shoes and crept gingerly down the hall. Arriving at the bedroom door, Tara peeked in and her heart melted at the sight of her adorable girlfriend. Willow was sprawled sideways across the bed that was littered with loose papers, several textbooks and numerous different colored pens.

Tara smiled as she tiptoed across the room and began collecting the materials on the bed and neatly placing them in stacks on the floor. Once she’d removed everything she pulled down the comforter and gently nudged Willow to the head of the bed. The exhausted redhead complied without protest and once she was in the proper position, Tara removed her clothes and joined her girlfriend under the covers, snuggling up to Willow’s back and spooning her from behind. Though still sound asleep, Willow instinctively latched onto Tara’s hand and pulled it firmly to her chest.

“Mmmm, my Tara,” She mumbled.

Tara smiled contentedly and pressed a soft kiss to Willow’s cheek, “My Willow,” She replied.

Willow mumbled again, “Love you.”

“I love you too.” Tara whispered and snuggled closer allowing her eyes to close as she relaxed and soon fell into a deep sleep.

**********************************************

Willow sighed, gripping Tara’s hand tighter and snuggling it to her chest. A sleepy grin began to spread across her face as she pushed back into the warm body spooning her from behind. Ummm, Tara snuggles…wait, what? Willow’s eyes sprung open and began to dart back and forth. Several seconds ago she’d been content and still groggy, but now…she was awake and confused. She glanced up at the digital clock on the nightstand; it was just after six o’clock in the morning and the last thing she remembered was getting up to go to the bathroom around eleven. Willow shifted and turned in Tara’s arms, causing the blonde to roll on to her back, still fast asleep. Willow followed and laid her head on her girlfriend’s bare chest as she slid an arm across Tara’s stomach.

Willow lay awake for several minutes, trying to figure out when exactly Tara had snuck into her bed and why. They’d spoken earlier in the evening and she’d told Willow that she was tired and going to bed early. That was around nine-thirty and Willow hadn’t heard from her since. Her mind was spinning and she realized that she wasn’t going to get any answers unless she went directly to the source. She pushed herself up on her elbow and began to gently run her fingers through Tara’s hair and across her cheek.

“Tare…baby,” Willow whispered as the blonde’s eyes began to flutter open, “Hey.”

Tara yawned deeply, “Hey,” She mumbled, rewarding Willow with an adorable lopsided smile.

Willow leaned forward and lightly brushed her lips across Tara’s, “What’s going on? Are you okay? What time did you get here?”

Tara just smiled, leaning in to kiss Willow again, “I couldn’t sleep and I missed you.”

Willow noticed Tara’s eyes leave her for the briefest of seconds and a small crinkle appear on her brow, “You had a bad dream, didn’t you?” Tara’s smile faded and she nodded her head. “Oh sweetie, I’m sorry.”

“I-It’s okay Will, I’m better now,” She said genuinely as she stretched her arms over her head, “You were out cold when I got here, around one-thirty and you looked so sleepy that I didn’t want to wake you. So, I moved all your stuff and just climbed in. Is that alright?”

“Of course it is. It’s not even a question. I was just a little surprised is all, but in a good way. Do you um, do you want to talk about it? The dream, that is…”

“Oh well, I don’t really remember all that much, just that I was being chased and I was really scared, but I feel fine now.”

“Did they have cameras?” Willow smirked.

Tara giggled and kissed Willow’s forehead, “This has been the craziest week ever. I think I’ve been photographed more this week than I have in my entire life.”

“I know, I had some guy actually follow me into the ladies room after class yesterday.”

“Seriously?”

“Yep, he went into the stall next to me and started asking me questions. Like he was interviewing me or something.”

“Will, maybe we should get you some security.”

Willow shook her head, “I’m fine baby. I can handle them.” Willow continued to caress Tara’s cheek with her thumb, “I’m glad you’re here.”

“Me too. I’m sorry about earlier this week…at my house.”

“It’s ok, I haven’t exactly been available gal either. I just want to get through the next week and a half, then just relax for the next month.”

“I know but, you should be able to get some downtime at my place. I…I don’t want you to feel like you’re getting pushed out because of my crazy life.”

“I didn’t feel pushed Tara, I just needed to be able to concentrate and I kept getting distracted. I need to ace these finals and push up my GPA, because next semester is really going to be tough, with the season starting and all. Besides, it’s your house, you’re allowed to have people over.” Willow smiled, poking her tongue between her teeth.

Tara nodded absently, “I um, I kinda lost it yesterday and threw everyone out.” Tara said as she bit her bottom lip and glanced down at the bed.

Willow’s eyes shot open, “Really? Why? What happened? Cyndi too?”

Tara nodded, “I understand that they mean well, but this is my life, not some reality show. I thought if I heard the phrase, ‘strike while the iron is hot,’ one more time…”

Willow snorted, “What does that even mean?”

Tara shrugged her shoulders, “Kinda like, A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.”

Willow grinned devilishly and slid her hand under the covers; dipping low enough to brush across Tara’s honey colored curls, “More like a hand in the bush is worth two…I have no idea, you lost me at bush.”

“Ummm,” Tara whimpered, pressing their lips together and tangling her hands in Willow’s silky red hair. The kiss continued, slowly building as she pulled Willow closer.

Willow’s hands drifted south and gently squeezed her lover’s firm behind. “I could kiss you like this all day,” She mumbled into Tara’s kiss swollen lips.

Tara smiled into the kiss, “Ummm, no problem,” She moaned sensually as she rolled on top of her lover.

With Tara now on top and straddling her hips, Willow ran her hands down the blonde’s back; pulling her even closer while Tara kissed down Willow’s jaw and latched on to her neck. The redhead whimpered and twisted her head, giving her girlfriend better access.

“Oh God, you feel so good,” Willow moaned as Tara sat up on her knees.

“Will?”

“Hmmm?”

“Everything’s ok right? I mean…down here?” Tara asked, glancing towards Willow’s center with a quirked eyebrow.

“Um hmm, done two days ago…good to go.” Willow smiled.

Tara returned the smile, “So how about we even this out then? I need to feel all of you baby,” She whispered as she tugged Willow’s tank top up and over her head. She needed her beautiful girlfriend naked, she needed to feel all of Willow and she needed to feel her now.

After tossing the tank top aside, Tara crawled backwards between Willow’s legs and slowly pulled off her lover’s panties. She paused, looking down at Willow’s flawless skin before lowering herself and gently licking at her nipple. Willow moaned and lifted her chest up as she pressed harder into Tara’s mouth. Tara took the hint, pleased with her girlfriend’s response and drew the perfect breast deeper into her mouth; nibbling and flicking her tongue across the now rock hard nipple. Willow gripped Tara’s head and groaned as Tara closed her eyes and lost herself in the rapturous task.

Tara shifted her weight and nestled a knee between Willow’s legs as she began rocking against her hot core. Tara groaned as she felt the wet folds sliding effortlessly against her thigh. Willow was soaked, and what started out as a slow rocking motion soon quickened into both girls bucking and grinding their hips furiously against the other.

“Tara please…” Willow cried as she pushed at Tara’s head.

The blonde quickly got the hint and began kissing her way down Willow’s toned stomach until she was positioned between her lover’s legs. She placed her hands flat against Willow’s thighs and pushed her legs open wide. She was looking directly into Willow’s sex and could feel her own wetness building to almost painful levels. She looked up at her girl and smiled seductively as she extended her tongue and pressed it between Willow’s folds.

Willow nearly came and involuntarily thrust her hips forward as Tara’s talented tongue flicked across her clit. Tara sighed in appreciation as she continued to tease her girl with light licks and nips before sucking hard on the swollen nub. Willow gasped, pressing tightly against Tara’s face. Tara smiled as she began her assault on Willow’s clit; rapidly flicking her tongue as Willow rocked against her.

Willow’s movements were frenzied and she bucked wildly against the blonde. Tara wanted to reach up and pleasure Willow’s breasts, but it was all she could do just to hold on. She’d never seen Willow so hot with need before and it was driving her crazy. She could tell Willow was close and she flicked harder and faster against Willow’s sweet spot until Willow’s entire body began to shake uncontrollably.

“Oh God, oh baby…I’m…uuuuugghh!” Willow shouted, pushing her center hard against her lover’s face.

Tara blissfully rode out her girlfriend’s orgasm, as she continued to press her tongue against Willow’s clit and lovingly lap up the never-ending flow of juices. After several minutes, she felt Willow’s legs give with exhaustion as she lifted her head to see her girlfriend sweaty and completely spent. Tara reached over, grabbing Willow’s tank and wiped her mouth before moving up to snuggle against the panting redhead.

When Willow finally recovered from the mind-blowing orgasm, she noticed that Tara was next to her. She turned and faced her girlfriend, smiling softly.

“Hey,” She breathed.

Hey yourself,” Tara returned and pressed a kiss to Willow’s lips. “I love you, Will.”

Willow grinned widely in response, before enthusiastically seizing her lover’s lips. She was eager to show Tara how much she loved her as well.

DIBS! YAY!!!! HAPPY EASTER TO ME!

Willow was lying on her stomach across her bed, “Finally,” She said out loud as she highlighted the last line on the page. It was a small moment of relief that quickly passed when she realized that she’d inadvertently highlighted every single sentence on the page, instead of just the important points.

I did this all the time when I used to highlight. Now I've learned to just take notes in class because highlighting is useless.

Poor Willow is finally feeling the effect of having a super-star girlfriend. And needing to study finals week definitely doesn't make it easier.

She sighed deeply, planning to close her eyes for only a moment, but instead she fell fast asleep.

I do this all the time too.

“I know, I had some guy actually follow me into the ladies room after class yesterday.”

WHAT!!?? :shock I know I pay attention to celebrities' personal lives less than most people, but this is not normal, right? Is it even legal? Even if she doesn't feel she needs security, I hope she got the guy name to report to the campus.

“More like a hand in the bush is worth two…I have no idea, you lost me at bush.”

:lol me too.

Can't wait until the next chapter. Happy Easter!

Yay for excellent update-y goodness... I hope Willow got some studying done during those few Taraless days... Tara's nightmare has me kinda worried but I'm really glad that she went to have her required Willow-snugglies... I'm really glad that Tara threw all the other folks out of her house to keep her sanity... I really hope that they decide that they spend their nights together even if they have very little together-time during the days and evenings...
