DIBS!!!

Shel,

I simply, purely LOVE this story!!! Thank you so much!

“L-Love? Who s-said anything a-about l-love? Tara nearly jumped out of the chair as she stuttered something fierce.

Great use of Tara’s stutter as she grapples with the truth about the depth of her love.

“Mmhmm, thou doth protest too much, Miss Maclay. By the way, I’m done. Now go before you get so worked up you can’t perform and that skank takes the lead.” Pam said, with a generous amount of conviction.

Oooooh! Love that girl’s mouth!!! Fun vocabulary and right on the money!!!

I enjoyed the misunderstanding about Willow's abrupt departure that was fairly easily cleared up; but it reveals the future challenges they’ll face.

Also enjoyed a glimpse of the ball game – thanks!

And without even a hint of a stutter, Tara gave Willow her answer, “Yes Willow. I will go home to Texas with you.”

Heartwarming! GREAT way to use Tara’s stutter to underscore the strength of her feelings! This is a beautifully written contrast to Tara’s earlier stuttering response to the ‘love of your life’ line and clearly show her acceptance of her feelings towards Willow.

Enough with the analysis already!!!!

WRITE! WRITE! WRITE! :kgeek

Nasty little swarming insects that can destroy your home life. Sadly, I see many more misunderstandings in our girls future :miff .

Who said there’s going to be ‘angsty-angst-angst???

So there isn't? I have myself on high alert just in case :p

So, I loved Tara's little freak out (well it wasn't a freak out but you know what I mean) about the possibilty and depth of her love for Willow. It might be soon but when you know you know!

Aww, poor Willow getting injured, Tara will have to kiss it better!

“Nope…some Tara lovin’ care,” The blonde breathed seductively.

The much better kind!

I'm glad they got that little misunderstanding sorted! And I'm super excited for Tara going home with Willow for the holidays!

Great chapter

:banana ...whew..you had me worried there for a second...lol I was thinking OH MAN..shes not gonna go..adding to my own angst..

I felt bad for Tara and for a brief second I was mad at willow for making her cry even when my brain said shes trying to keep it a secret until she can talk to her about Thanksgiving..thats a mark of a good writer in my book.

I am curious of Halloween and what they go dressed as for this party....

Great job Shel..

Another lovely chapter, even though things were difficult for our girls, it wasn't in the way I was expecting--the a$#hole club--so I was pleasantly surprised. Hopefully Tara will take Pam at her word, she's a good adviser, something Tara definitely needs. I'm curious about the change in line-up at Willow's game, I wonder if the coach was trying to put Morgan in her place by keeping her out of play...hmm...Anyway, thrilled that Tara and Willow cleared up their misunderstanding quickly, and that Tara said yes to Texas. Hopefully Sheila won't be absolutely horrible and catch Tara off guard, I think Willow's going to have to fess up on that point.

Another wonderful update.

I love how Pam gives Tara a nice little talk here about the people to watch out for on the set, and the "love" stutter cracked me up. I can just picture her getting all flustered over that. Very cute.

Ah, the ballgame -- you win some, you lose some, and sometimes you definitely need to go home and ice and elevate some parts of your body. But Willow was right -- it's always a good thing when you don't end up in the ER. That happened to me in high school. Long story, but lots of blood, being knocked unconscious and 30+ stitches to your face is not the good time it's cracked up to be. Still, I'm a little curious about the coach's decision here to change the lineup. Although it was just a preseason game, so maybe no reason for worries.

So okay, the little episode with the paps at the car was kind of upsetting, and of course we know why Willow did it, but poor Tara. I'm so glad that they got that all straightened out. And you ended it all perfectly. Great job once again. Can't wait for more.

Damn it I missed the update! Well now that I've caught up (yay) I'm so absolutely adoring this story. AU is awesome. And we all know in each relationship a little angst must fall. Thankfully this wasn't too upsetting and the little misunderstanding was cleared up fairly quickly. Love the Pam advice and her looking out for Tara. I am wondering what's in Tara's past. Got me definitely curious there. And while I'm loving the pace that the story is advancing I also love how you're taking your time with the relationship. Great update. And sorry for the babble.

Postby JustSkipIt » Mon Jan 24, 2011 7:25 pm

Hmmm. Well... I reread about the first half of this story while compiling code this morning. But this update:

First concern is what is Tara hiding? She says she needs to come clean. What could it be? Sex, drugs, rock-n-roll? I would think that if she's had a drug or alcohol problem, Willow would have found that when googling her. That she's not a virgin? I would think Willow could understand that even if she is. I mean... it just doesn't seem like Tara could be much of a secret so I'm intrigued.

Funny that Tara's so freaked about the possibility of being in love in spite of the fact that it's pretty clear that she is. I think Pam has her number and seems to be a pretty good confidant and source.

Now: Willow's behavior about the paparazzi and T-giving believe it or not actually reminds me a little of Willow in Neverland. Both of them come up with a plan and then want to go by it but they're sort of hurting the woman they love. Willow's thought that she can be "in the closet" until Thanksgiving is totally insane. T-giving is 4 weeks away and clearly it will take much less time than that for someone to out them unless they either break up (boo hiss) or hide in one of their places without going out ever (boo hiss) until then. I'm fully expecting them to be seen and photographed this Saturday at the Halloween party and think they've been pretty lucky so far.

I like that Willow's able to explain it to Tara and that Tara is going to T-giving with her. I do imagine that it could bring up a weird money thing though. You've got Willow who invited Tara so she should pay for Tara's ticket but obviously $400 or so would be a challenge for the average college student-scholarship athlete. And then there's Tara who (I'm guessing) makes $600,000 - $800,000 per episode plus the residuals from the other shows and movies. And is she going to be flying coach and then they have to deal with fans and all that crap? Or is she going to start going all sugar-mama to get them a Jet to fly them down? It could get awkward and really, it's just the start of awkward around money. And the fact is that forever, no matter what happens between them, there will be people telling Tara that Willow only loves her for the money and asking Willow how her meal ticket tastes.

Part of the reason I was re-reading was that I was trying to figure out if we know their ages. I think Willow is 20? But what about Tara? 22? 23? She's young, right?

Anyway, I'm embarrassingly addicted to this and don't want to wait 6 more days for an update. Could I offer some sort of bribe?

(Also- you've got a missing end tag after damn it so it says " [ i / ] " so the italics don't work right. Actually, maybe the opening tag is an L?

Finey_McFine: Willow is one tough cookie, eh? Now Tara is harboring a secret –uh-oh. Did she do a bunch of drugs and end up in rehab? I can’t imagine Tara having anything in her past so horrible Willow would turn against her. It will be interesting to see how/if the girls manage to avoid being discovered by the Paparazzi, or getting outed unintentionally or via intent, before T-day... especially with this party coming up. Seth Green manages to avoid detection at conventions by going in costume so Willow and Tara should be able to. Unless.. the need for smoochies overwhelms the duo at a most inopportune time. :wink Anyhoo.. loved the intro to Willow’s brother and am looking forward to Tara meeting the family. Will Shelia even know who Tara is? She doesn’t seem the type to have a clue about TV celebrities unless those celebs are into politics. Then again.. AU fic so she may have a celeb gossip blog for all we know!

Gotta agree with Deb.. addicted.. very much enjoying..

Hi Everyone! Thanks for all of the lovely comments and the continued support!

Ariel:
Yay Dibs!!

Great use of Tara’s stutter as she grapples with the truth about the depth of her love.

Thanks! It’s sometimes hard to know just the right place to insert the stutter, but it wouldn’t be Tara without it.

I enjoyed the misunderstanding about Willow's abrupt departure that was fairly easily cleared up; but it reveals the future challenges they’ll face.

From this point forward, I think it’ll be difficult for them in public…especially Tara. As she said in an earlier chapter, ‘I must be off the radar.’ But, all good things must come to an end and I believe after the vet clinic that she’s back on in a big way.

Heartwarming! GREAT way to use Tara’s stutter to underscore the strength of her feelings! This is a beautifully written contrast to Tara’s earlier stuttering response to the ‘love of your life’ line and clearly show her acceptance of her feelings towards Willow.

I’m glad you caught that!! I wanted it to be subtle, but also drive home the intense feelings she has towards Willow.

Thanks for the feedback!!!

Thanks for cheering up my very dull Sunday with this update.

Thanks!! Glad I could help!!

Thanks for the great feedback!

SMGOVAN:
Awwwwwwwwwww sad Tara is heart breaking for me

I agree! But to me it’s nothing in comparison to an upset or crying Willow. Every time I watch, for example: The Pack. I want to jump through the TV and pound Xander into the ground, lol

Tara's castmate is my new leading candidate for outing our girls(can u say Biyatch?)

She is definitely an addition to the rapidly growing group of candidates.

Sadly, I see many more misunderstandings in our girls future

Hopefully, the will communicate a little better going forward…hopefully.

Ps... secrets are bad . What ever Tara has hidden in her past, she should come clean about it . Would'nt want Willow 2 find out thru the peoples grapevine!! Besides, if Willow really loves her (and we know she does) she will understand.

You are correct, but you know how they are…and it’s a doosey too! I promise it to be unexpected…*twists mustache and grins*

Thanks for the feedback!

Laragh:
So there isn't? I have myself on high alert just in case

Well, there might be angst, but probably not ‘angsty, angst-angst.’ lol
I'm glad they got that little misunderstanding sorted! And I'm super excited for Tara going home with Willow for the holidays!

I actually think it’s good that they have the occasional hiccup. Tara needs to be able to read Willow’s little quirks better and Willow needs to understand that she just can’t act without some sort of explanation, as if Tara could ‘actually’ read her mind. I promise the trip will be interesting and fun!! Secrets will be revealed! Hmm, that sounds more ominous than it did in my head. Maybe not secrets, but information, well maybe both.

I really am wondering about the costume party. I mean, I can only assume it's an industry thing with some press, etc. and Tara and Willow will be there together.

It is most definitely an industry event and they will be together-together. I guarantee you’ll love it though!! ;-)

Thanks as always for the feedback!

bouncer73:
...whew..you had me worried there for a second...lol I was thinking OH MAN..shes not gonna go..adding to my own angst..

Save your angst for their trip home, lol

I felt bad for Tara and for a brief second I was mad at willow for making her cry even when my brain said shes trying to keep it a secret until she can talk to her about Thanksgiving..thats a mark of a good writer in my book.

The thing is that Tara is still getting used to Willow’s little quirks and Willow needs to realize that she needs to speak before she acts. A meaningful relationship is new territory for both, so they will have bumps alone the way. And BTW…THANKS!!!

I am curious of Halloween and what they go dressed as for this party....

See below!!!!

Thanks the feedback!!!

The membership in that club seems to be growing by the day, doesn’t it? lol

I'm curious about the change in line-up at Willow's game, I wonder if the coach was trying to put Morgan in her place by keeping her out of play...hmm

Actually, this is pretty common in preseason games. They just needed to give some of the rookies playing time.

Hopefully Sheila won't be absolutely horrible and catch Tara off guard, I think Willow's going to have to fess up on that point.
Willow REALLY needs to have this talk with Tara, but she is reluctant. I believe that she thinks if she tells Tara, Tara won’t go. So, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.

As always…thanks for the feedback!

Holy crap! That does not sound fun at all! The worst I ever got injured in softball was a bloody nose. I was playing short and the ball took a bad hop and nailed me right in the face. The WORST injury I received was when I blew my knee out playing basketball. Because with that, my softball days were over:(

So okay, the little episode with the paps at the car was kind of upsetting,

Yes, it was and unfortunately…it’s just the beginning.

Thanks for the comments!

First concern is what is Tara hiding?

It’s rock-n-roll…I love that you are doing your best to wheedle this out of me on here and Facebook as well. Have you no shame? LOL

Funny that Tara's so freaked about the possibility of being in love in spite of the fact that it's pretty clear that she is.

I think that she was surprised that Pam noticed more than anything. But there was also a bit of her coming to the realization consciencely.

Willow's behavior about the paparazzi and T-giving believe it or not actually reminds me a little of Willow in Neverland.

You know…that was purely accidental. After I wrote it and then re-read it, I realized the implications. That’s why I had Willow come clean with the plan to Tara right away.

Willow's thought that she can be "in the closet" until Thanksgiving is totally insane.

It is and it isn’t. No one suspects that Tara is Gay. Not the press, not her fans, etc. So they could, conceivably, hang out together all they want in a purely platonic way. But you are correct, the chances of Willow getting photographed with Tara, even as friends, in the next few weeks is fairly ridiculous, but…stranger things have happened!

I like that Willow's able to explain it to Tara and that Tara is going to T-giving with her. I do imagine that it could bring up a weird money thing though.

Ah yes…the money issue hasn’t even begun to rear its ugly head. Here you have Willow: Mild mannered and broke ass college student. Then you have Tara: Mega rich multi-millionaire uber-celeb. This will definitely come up in the near future. In fact, there is a minor reference in the next chapter that plants the seed in Willow’s mind that it could cause problems. Although, I would not have any objections to Tara being my ‘sugar mama!’

Part of the reason I was re-reading was that I was trying to figure out if we know their ages. I think Willow is 20? But what about Tara? 22? 23? She's young, right?

Willow is 21 and Tara is 23. I thought I mentioned their ages, but maybe I really did just think it? I don’t know…now I have to go back and figure it out! Lol I decided that Willow will be 22 in Jan. and Tara had just turned 23 on her canon October birth date, so a few days before they met, so they’re only really about 18 months apart.

Ps…maybe you need rehab for your ‘addiction?’

Kajun
Willow is one tough cookie, eh?

Apparently, she IS large with the butch!

It will be interesting to see how/if the girls manage to avoid being discovered by the Paparazzi,

Sometimes it’s easier to hide in plain sight. I read an interview with Alyson once where she talked about the paparazzi, etc and she said that ‘if you want to be seen, you get seen and if you don’t, you don’t.’ I really believe it’s how much attention you draw to yourself. It seems to me that the celebs that try to shun the media are sought out and the ones that let them in a bit, stay pretty much on the DL. W/T have been pretty lucky so far and I’m not sure how much longer it’ll last.

Will Shelia even know who Tara is? She doesn’t seem the type to have a clue about TV celebrities unless those celebs are into politics. Then again.. AU fic so she may have a celeb gossip blog for all we know!

The question really is, will she care one way or another? Sheila is in denial as to Willow’s sexuality, so I don’t think it matters who she brings home. But we’ll just have to wait and see. Remember, she ‘dabbles in real estate’ and has pretty much been a stay at home mom with four kids. Different from canon Sheila.

I’m glad you’re still following it and thanks for the feedback!! BTW…as I told Deb…there’s always rehab for your addiction! lol

TITLE: Racing The Rain

AUTHOR: Finey_McFine

RATING: R

DISCLAIMER: Willow, Tara and any other BtVS characters, as well as some random dialog, belong to Mutant Enemy.

SUMMARY: Totally AU, Willow and Tara Meet with not so surprising results! Set in LA with lots of W/T fluff and a little teeny tiny bit of angst, but no Hellmouthyness. Just good old regular day-to-day drama.

FEEDBACK: OK; Any glaring issues…please send me a PM!

AUTHOR’S NOTE: Hello Kittens! This particular chapter was a lot of fun to write, so I hope you enjoy it. PS…sorry about the teeny tiny cliffhanger, lol. Enjoy!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chapter 17: All Hallows Eve

After Willow and Tara straightened out their minor misunderstanding, they enjoyed some alone time, snuggled on the couch sharing kisses and enjoying their growing connection. Kelly had returned home and the three of them ordered pizza and spent the rest of the evening watching TV.

The next morning, Willow left early to take care of Miss Kitty and catch up some school work, while Tara was out gathering up last minute items to complete their Halloween costumes for the upcoming party. They agreed to meet back at Tara’s in the late afternoon to dress for the party together. Willow figured that she needed all the help she could get. Willow was excited and apprehensive at the same time. Tara hadn’t given her much information on the party, mostly because she didn’t want Willow stressed and nervous. Of course, Willow being Willow, had immediately taken to her laptop to do some online research. She broke out in a cold sweat and felt lightheaded when she found out that it was Bette Midler’s big Halloween bash, one of the most popular and well-attended parties of the year. Well, this should be interesting.

*****************************************

“Honey, hold still while I fix your mustache.”

“It tickles!” The redhead giggled as she squirmed under the offending facial hair.

“There we go, all done. You look incredibly handsome Mr. Chaplin!” Tara remarked, looking Willow up and down in her Charlie Chaplin outfit. Tara had gone all out with their costumes, making sure that Willow was unrecognizable. She applied ample amounts of white pancake makeup to Willow’s face, along with fake eyebrows, and a mustache. Not to mention the curly black wig topped of with Charlie’s trademark bolero. Looking at Willow, it was hard to tell is she was male or female.

“You’re not so bad yourself, Miss Mary Pickford!” Willow replied, as she leaned in for a quick kiss and a close up view of Tara’s well-endowed cleavage. Something Willow had not been able to stop herself from staring at since the blonde had emerged clad in the low cut 1920’s style dress. Tara was in full makeup and wore her hair in long curly ringlets that flowed across her shoulders and down her back. Gorgeous, actually.

Tara pulled away and began to giggle, “You’re right, it does tickle.”

“Well, if this means less Tara kissage, then the mustache may have to go! By-the-way, this costume was a great idea. Not only will people think you’re with a guy, but I’ll never be recognized in this get up.”

Tara gave Willow a slight smile and tried to hid the tinge of sadness in her eyes, but the perceptive redhead picked up on it right away.

“Tare, I know what you’re thinking,” Willow grasped Tara’s hands, pulling her close, “but it’s only for a few more weeks.”

“I know Willow. It’s just not going to be easy and this whole situation just…I’m fine, really.”

Willow simply nodded her head and smiled. “You look beautiful, by the way. I love your curly locks!” Willow exclaimed, as she twirled Tara’s hair around her index finger. “So, since I’m the guy, I guess I’ll drive?”

Tara snorted loudly at Willow’s comment.

“Hey! I didn’t mean it like that! Geez, you’ve got a one track mind, don’t you? Vixen.” Willow looked at the giggling blonde and rolled her eyes.

Tara managed to get herself together, “I guess I forgot to tell you, we’re taking a limo tonight. It should be here any minute.”

“Really?” Willow said, her eyes wide in anticipation.

“Yeah, it’s just easier when you go to a big event like this. I have to make an entrance, you know?”

“So um, I really don’t want to sound like a crazed fan or anything, but do you think you could introduce me to Bette Midler? Because I really love her, ‘Hocus Pocus’ is my favorite Halloween movie of all time. Oh, I also love her other movies, especially the ones from the ’80’s and wow can she sing. Is she gonna sing tonight? Oh, maybe she’ll sing ‘I Put a Spell on You!’ Plus, you know…Jewish, red hair and totally gay friendly, but that sounds really cliché and really stalkerish doesn’t it? I still can’t believe I’m going to Bette Midler’s Halloween party. I mean…it’s Bette Midler.

Tara was just staring at Willow with an amused look on her face and a raised eyebrow. If she gets anymore adorable, I’m gonna have to jump her right here and to hell with this party.

“What? You think I’m going to embarrass you, don’t you? Well, I promise I won’t, at least not on purpose.”

“Will, if I was worried about you embarrassing me, I wouldn’t have asked you to go with me in the first place. Now let’s go. We’ll, eat, drink, dance and have a super fun time.”

“Sounds like a plan.”

***********************************************
They arrived at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel to a line of limos and a throng of photographers. Willow’s eyes were as big as saucers and she had a death grip on Tara’s hand.

“Will, Sweetie…circulation, becoming an issue. Are you ok?”

“Oh, sorry. Yep, great, finey mc- I’m fine,” knowing that sentence could launch her into a marathon babble, she decided it was better to censor herself for a change. “Just one question…what happens when I have to go to the bathroom?”

Tara stared blankly at Willow, this issue hadn’t crossed her mind and she was at a complete loss.

“I mean, if I go in the ladies room, people will probably think I’m a perv and I don’t have the proper equipment for the men’s room. Plus when I drink and I’m nervous, I tend to pee a lot and-”

“It’s ok. We’ll figure something out,” Tara cut Willow off before a total panic attack ensued and gently planted a kiss on her cheek, “we’re here.”

“So, I think since you’re the proverbial guy, you should probably get out first and you know, do gentlemanly type things.” The blonde suggested, grinning at her date.

“I can certainly do that!” Willow said, as she placed a tickly kiss on Tara’s cheek, “besides, guy or not, I’d do it anyway.”

When their limo finally pulled up to the front of the hotel, Willow exited and took Tara’s hand to help her out. The Paparazzi had been fairly subdued until Tara stepped out of the car and then all hell seemed to break loose. Willow had never seen so many cameras flashing all at the same time, it was virtually blinding and the mass of photographers were all screaming for her girlfriend to look in their direction. She intertwined her fingers with Tara’s and the blonde gave her a gentle, reassuring squeeze and a sweet half smile as they began their walk into the hotel, stopping periodically to pose for pictures. As they entered, Willow was in awe.

“Wow, they really go all out for this don’t they?” Willow said to Tara, looking up at the elaborate decorations adorning the ceilings and walls.

“You have no idea. This particular party brings in millions for the charity.”

“Tare, did you have to but tickets for this? Because if you did, I can totally pay you back for mine.”

“Well, if you’re offering, then you can write me a check. $25,000 should just about cover it,” Tara said, with a smirk while trying and failing miserably to remain serious.

“Oh.” Was about all the redhead could muster as her brow furrowed and she processed the new and expensive information.

“Sweetie, please relax, I was just teasing you. The tickets are actually free as long as you donate the minimum to the charity, which I did. I’ve been attending this event for 5 years and the donation was made long before I even met you, so no guilty conscience. Ok?”

Willow acknowledged, simply nodding and smiling at the blonde.

Tara pulled Willow’s hand to her mouth, kissing it several times as they made their way to the bar, and then spent the better part of the next hour making the rounds as Tara introduced Willow to celebrity after celebrity. Some of them Willow recognized in their elaborate costumes and some she did not, even though she did recognize their names: Sandra, Leonardo, Scarlett, Toby and so on. It was a tad overwhelming, yet exhilarating at the same time. Willow had never imagined in a thousand years that she’d be in the same room as all these celebrities, much less shaking hands with them.

“Holy shit!” Willow expounded, staring straight ahead and becoming visibly nervous. “T-They’re headed right for us!”

“Who?” Tara asked.

“Mickey and Mini Mouse!” Willow squeaked.

Tara followed Willow’s line of sight when she caught what had unnerved the redhead: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie dressed as the beloved Disney characters.

Tara giggled and greeted the famous couple, hugging each of them and placing light kisses on their cheeks. She introduced Willow as her girlfriend, causing an audible gulp to escape the redhead. They both smiled and embraced Willow warmly, putting her at ease immediately. As the conversation flowed between the two couples, Willow was pleased to learn that Brad was a fan of fast pitch and they were soon caught up in a vigorous conversation discussing the sport. Leaving Tara and Angelina to catch up, as they hadn’t seen each other in some time. Unfortunately, their conversations ended when someone needed Brad and Angie for a photo op, but not before they invited Willow and Tara to their home for dinner.

“Are you ok Sweetie?” Tara asked a mildly star struck Willow.

“Huh? Oh, yeah. Sorry, it’s just…he’s absolutely charming and she is so incredibly nice. They both just seem so down to earth.”

“Not what you expected?” Tara questioned.

“Well, to be honest, no. Not really. I mean all the stuff that’s printed about them, it’s makes her out to be an evil seductress and him as her lap dog.”

Tara snickered, “Don’t believe everything you read Will. I told you, they twist it to their liking.” Tara continued, as Willow listened intently. “I’ve known Brad for years, he’s really very sweet. When he started dating Angie, he and Jennifer had been separated for months, but the press made it out like Angie was this evil home wrecker. The tabloids printed that they’d hooked up on the set of a movie they made together, but it wasn’t true at all. I know for a fact because Angie and I were working on this project together when…” Tara trailed off and cocked her head to one side, as Willow blinked a few times, just staring blankly at her.

“What?”

“It’s just that, well this is all just kinda surreal for me. I mean you’re telling me this story like la la la, about your friends and it’s totally normal and then I remember that your friends are the most well known, most photographed couple in the world. A story that, embarrassingly, even I have followed over the years in the tabloids and none of it was even remotely true and-”

“Willow, breathe,” Tara said as she placed two fingers on Willows mustached lips, “Come on you, let’s get a bite to eat, I’m starving.” She winked at the befuddled redhead and led her to the buffet tables.

After eating and having another drink, Willow seemed to relax. She and Tara had taken to a cozy table in the corner of the room as they chatted, laughed and stole a few sweet kisses.

“So, how’s that leg of yours?”

“It’s fine. Why?”

Tara suddenly grinned wickedly at Willow and stood.

“Because I love this song, come on Charlie, let’s dance!” The blonde said enthusiastically, extending her had to her girlfriend.

“Well, Miss Pickford…I thought you’d never ask!” Willow replied, wriggling her thick fake eyebrows.

Willow took Tara’s hand and allowed the blonde to lead the way to the dance floor as the throbbing beat of Pink’s ‘Raise Your Glass,’ pounded through the speakers. They danced for the next hour, grinding against each other during the fast songs and pulling each other close during the slow romantic ones. Unbeknownst to them, the entire room was a buzz wondering exactly who Tara Maclay’s mystery date was. To most of the people, Tara had introduced her girlfriend as simply ‘Will’, throwing off many of the nosey party guests. Willow had just smiled and shaken his or her hands, she laughed inwardly thinking that it reminded her of an old SNL skit, ‘It’s Pat’, about a person that no one could ever figure out if s/he was male or female.

As the evening wore on, they danced, mingled and had a wonderful time. Tara was eventually able to introduce Willow to her idol, Bette Midler, which rendered the redhead nearly speechless. Willow did, however, manage to get herself so wound up that she tripped into a server and nearly sent her full tray of drinks flying right into her idol. After, the ‘Midler Incident’ as it came to be known, they decided to call it a night.

*******************************

“Tara, how will we know which limo is ours? I mean, they all kind of look alike.” Willow asked, with an arm securely wrapped around Tara’s waist.

“Oh, I use the same driver all the time, otherwise I never know whose car I might end up in.”

“Well, then I guess I’d better hang on to you. I can’t have you ending up in the back seat with someone else, now can I?”

“Oh really? And you were planning on getting me into the backseat now were you?” The blonde teased back, turning and pulling Willow’s lips to hers. “That mustache really needs to go.” Tara said flatly.

“Um Hmm, as soon as I get you into the backseat.” Willow grinned and wiggled her eyebrows.

The girls huddled close waiting for their limo, barely able to keep their hands off each other. As soon as the car arrived and the driver opened the door, they practically dove head first into the vehicle. They fell into a heap on the seat, arms and legs entwined as Tara ripped off Willow’s mustache.

“Oww, holy crap that stung!” Willow exclaimed, bringing her hand up to her mouth, “Ugh!”

“Oh shit! Honey are you ok?” Tara asked, as she snorted with laughter, reaching out to pull Willow’s hand down. “Let me see. Awww, poor baby, let me kiss it and make it all better.” The blonde said with her best pouty face, as she pulled Willow into a steamy kiss.

As the car drove away, they continued their heated make out session. Their kisses were deep and passionate; tongues dueled and hands began to wander. In the heat of the moment, attempting to pull Willow closer, Tara ran her left hand up Willow’s neck. She’d forgotten all about the wig and hat that the redhead wore as part of her costume. This simple move resulted in the hat falling forward onto her face and the wig sliding down Willow’s forehead. The end result was a broken kiss and a lot of giggling.

“Oh my God Will! You look ridiculous! Here, let me get those bushy eye brows off you.” Tara reached up and tried to gently pull them off, but ended up yanking them instead.

“Again with the owie! If I didn’t know better, I’d say you’re out to get me tonight! Is this payback for the ‘Midler Incident’?” Willow asked, mockingly.

“Yep and I require much in the way of smooches to make up for such rank humiliation.” The blonde joked, ducking her head and giving Willow her best seductive glance.

“Hmmm, that sounds like a horrible punishment. I just don’t know if I can comply.” Willow stated, sitting up and defensibly crossing her arms across her chest.

“Well, now that you’ve been sentenced, you must begin serving your punishment immediately.” Tara breathed, pulling Willow’s arms apart and capturing her lips again.

This time Tara had pulled off Willow’s jacket, untucked her shirt and had managed to work her hands underneath, never once breaking the kiss. As soon as she came in contact with the soft skin on Willow’s lower back, the redhead let out a deep moan. Tara took this as a good sign and continued her gentle ministrations. Unfortunately, the drive from the hotel back to Tara’s house was a short one, only about 15 minutes. Both girls were shocked when they felt the car stop and the driver gently tap on the glass partition and clear his throat. Tara let her window down and entered the security code, allowing the driver to proceed through the black iron gates.

They began to untangle themselves and gather Willow’s miscellaneous costume pieces that were strewn about the back of the limo, while the driver opened the door for them. Willow had put her jacket back on and stuffed everything in her pockets, doing her best to look half way presentable. They somehow managed to exit the car without incident, after their clumsy ride back to Tara’s house. They stopped at the front door while Tara fumbled through her purse for the keys. This simple task was made all the more difficult by the roaming hands of a precocious redhead. As Tara continued her search, Willow pressed her body tight up against Tara’s back, as her hands ran up and down Tara’s sides, down her thighs and up again across Tara’s stomach. Willow nudged Tara’s hair to the side and began to kiss and nip at the nape of her neck, eliciting a deep groan as they stumbled through the front door.

A very hyper Ralphie, jumping and bouncing on his hind legs, met them on the other side. They briefly acknowledged the dog, but quickly returned to the business at hand, causing a clearly dejected Ralphie to sulk off and lay down in his kennel.

Tara kicked off her shoes, and then tossed her purse and keys uncaringly on to the table in the foyer. Willow quickly followed by removing the cumbersome jacket, letting it fall to the floor as she kicked off her shoes as well. Willow then wrapped her now empty arms around Tara’s neck, pulling her forward. Tara captured Willow’s lips in a deep and libidinous kiss, as she pressed the redhead’s back up against the front door, deftly allowing her thigh to land between Willow’s legs. Willow spread her legs slightly to allow Tara more access, which the blonde quickly took advantage of by pressing her thigh upwards into the already soaking wet redhead, causing her to arch forward in acceptance and drawing out a delicious groan in the process. Spurred on by Willow’s reaction, Tara continued her rhythmic motion into Willow’s most sensitive spot.

Tara’s hands were firmly wrapped around the redhead and tightly gripping her ass. As Willow’s hands now started to wander up between their bodies to Tara’s ample cleavage, which had been pouring out of the top of her dress, effectively teasing the redhead unmercifully all evening. As Willow began to deftly kneed the luscious breasts, Tara began kissing down her neck until she ran into the collar of Willow’s dress shirt, causing her to whimper in protest.

Up until this point, not a single word had been spoken between the two women since exiting the limo. They both realized internally that, this time, they were at the point of no return. Yet, Tara wanted to make sure and pulled back slightly to seek confirmation. What she saw in Willow’s eyes was not only the confirmation she was looking for, but also pure wanton desire. The redhead simply nodded her head, unable, at that moment, to put words into coherent sentences.

“You’re sure?” The blonde panted.

Willow nodded again, gathering her thoughts and whispering huskily, “I want you Tara, more than I’ve ever wanted anyone or anything in my entire life. I’m done planning and thinking. Baby, you’re so beautiful and I…I want to make love to you all night.”

“I think that can be arranged,” Tara peered at Willow through half lidded eyes, as she took her hand and led her towards the bedroom.

Dibs!

I loved the costumes; very nice choice. And yes, very convenient in eschewing the fact that Willow's a girl. (Tee hee, eschew.) The bathroom issue was never addressed, but hopefully Willow will remember in the future that men's rooms do come equipped with stalls. Not that she's likely to be dressed appropriately in the future.

I liked Tara casually talking about knowing famous people, it's fairly realistic from what I know. I know I've personally seen nerd celebrities, at least, casually talking about playing Halo or D&D with other extremely famous nerdy people, making me terribly jealous.

Ah, the money issue. Not exactly a comfortable one. Hopefully Willow will be able to get used to the idea of splitting things unequally based on difference in income.

And very nummy cliffhanger. If only all cliffhangers went like that!

When you said cliffhanger, I thought it would be something bad. But it was a lot of fun to read, and the next update will be highly anticipated.

Hey there!

I love the first two paragraphs. I know they were really just filler but I liked seeing into Willow's mind and how they enjoyed just being with each other in the first few sentances.

Willow as Charlie Chaplin? Priceless! I cannot get that image from my head! Too funny hehe. And I'm with her on the Bette Midler love. That woman is amazing. Also, Hocus Pocus, screw Halloween, it's one of my all-time favourites!

Eek, I see the money issue cogs starting to turn in Willow's brain. I know it's one of those major issues in relationships, but this is one of those situations where she's just gonna have to accept that Tara has money. It's not something that's gonna change. As long as Tara doesn't think that's why Willow is with her, which I really don't think she does, then I hope it's something they have a conversation about and it's dealt with. I wouldn't like to see it spiralling :(

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie dressed as the beloved Disney characters.

:rofl :lmao

Aww, sweet dancing and mingling :) Very cute!

“That mustache really needs to go.”

Now, I've never kissed a boy, so I have no actual experience to go from here, but to quote/slightly paraphrase Portia De Rossi, “I don't know how those straight ladies do it.” I mean, beard burn, seriously.

Woo and hoo for limo make out session! Hot, hot and more hot!

And very sweet at the end, I loved what Willow said.

Wonderful chaper! Kitten kudos!!

That was a great chapter. I smiled the whole way through it. I can see why it was such fun to write.

I was a bit apprehensive about the whole industry party thing, but of course, it’s Tara’s world and she knows how to handle it. The Charlie Chaplin costume was a master stroke. A chance for Willow to experience full-on celebrity glitz without finding the paparazzi camped on her doorstep next morning. And I really loved the Angelina/Brad scene.

Tara being upfront about the money issue makes sense. It’s part of who she is and it would be ridiculous to pretend otherwise.

Similarly, I love the way Willow is so unself-consciously star-struck. Neither of them are pretending to be something they’re not, for fear of the other’s reaction.

A great story.

An update yay! Just what I need today because this Monday is kicking my butt. And such a nice update too. They are so adorable together. And I'm totally able to picture Tara as this huge celebrity. I didn't know how you were going to pull that off but you have done a great job. Can't wait for more.

Hi Shel,

Sweet, funny chapter of Will going into Tara’s world. Fun to see Tara so poised and comfortable and their costumes – mahvelous dahling! :pride :pinky :pinky :pinky :pride

I mean…it’s Bette Midler.”

How can anyone not like the Divine Miss M? I like Willow even more and that’s hardly possible! Her enthusiasm is so genuine and wonderful! :blush

“Oh, sorry. Yep, great, finey mc- I’m fine,” knowing that sentence could launch her into a marathon babble, she decided it was better to censor herself for a change.

Shameless self-promotion – loved it! Wow, Willow has grown up if she can successfully battle and best the babble! <=Try saying THAT three times fast! :party

I know for a fact because Angie and I were working on this project together when…”

Here’s a tribute to your great writing and our love for Tara. How do I know that Brad and Angelina are on the up-and-up? Because Tara (and Shel) told me so!!! Seriously, I believe you!

Love this story, a totally fresh take yet so truly themselves.

Thanks!

I just noticed something.

I want to make love to you all night.
(emphasis mine)

Interesting word choice, as I'm prone to use the more generic "sex" or (or "fuck") when talking to someone to whom I have not declared my love. (Okay, technically, I personally never use the phrase "make love" when I am the subject of the verb, but you get my drift.)

I've spent way to much time thinking about this, I know. I'm outlining chapters between Who Are You and New Moon Rising, and the language for Tara and for Willow are rather different, since Willow can't be in an "I obviously know what to do" space by NMR . . . and now I'm rambling.

Anyway, I'm curious if that's what Willow meant to say, and if Tara will pick up on it later, or if it'll be blurred out by a night full of sex with Willow.

What an absolutely adorable chapter. The costumes were perfect. Tara came up with such a clever disguise for her date, and I like how they were able to talk about how they were okay with it being that way for now. I also loved how Tara introduced her as Will to some, and "my girlfriend, Willow" to the people she knew she could obviously trust (AKA Brad and Angie -- too funny). I totally can see her being all star struck. She has now had her first foray into Tara's glamorous life, and they both handled it so nicely. It really was such a fun read.

And now we see the money thing a bit, and I really hope they can not let this be a huge issue. As long as they trust each other, it's just common sense. Tara has oodles of money and she knows in her heart that Willow isn't with her because of that. Willow will be the one who might feel awkward but I hope they find a way to work through this delicate subject.

But oh, what a lovely cliffhanger. Willow is a whole lot more romantic than most people. It makes me realize that my normal phrase of "Ya wanna make out?" isn't quite up to par. LOL No wonder my gf always laughs when I ask her that.

Anyway, wonderful update. Now I can't wait to see what happens next -- will they, won't they, will they get interrupted??? More soon please!

Hey there,
Sorry it took a snow day to get me feedbacking this update. Actually for me it's a work-from-home even though it's a snow day day because my work doesn't believe in giving us time off if they can possibly help it. Anyway, it's been a busy week so I'm happy to manage this note. Of course I guess the upside is that I don't have to wait much longer for the next update.

The party is fun. I love that Willow asked about the ticket and Tara told her that she would need a check for $25,000. I mean, really that's the only way to handle such a huge discrepancy. If it was like $150 you could have Willow trying to figure out how to manage it but $25,000 is like forever of income for a college athlete since they can't work and earn money. Charlie Chaplin huh? Puts Willow in drag which totally make me think that when the press clues in they'll put a Willow's a boy/girl spin on Tara coming out. Still, it sounds like a very fun outfit. I love that Willow is so starstruck.

Re: Brad & Angelina. I was at the movies with my sister one day and we saw a ad for an Angelina movie and my sister was like, "I would never see that because she's a terrible, person. Just terrible. Homewrecker. Horrible." And I was sort of 1. How can you be so appalled at something that sort of has nothing to do with you and 2. How do you know the details of their relationship? I mean... whatever, you know. I like them because 1. they're hot and 2. they support gay rights and 3 they support gay marriage rights and 4. they're very outspoken attachment parents. So yay for Brangelina.

Anyway, the after they left was wonderful and and sexy and lusty. I'm awaiting the next part...

Love this story. Wondering why I haven't read it until now. After that last update I had to leave feedback. Now I am patiently waiting for more.
