Thanks so much. I think the next may raise a few questions as well. It's a great update and raises many questions. Can't wait to read the next instalment.
An excellent question there. I think it will be mostly answered down the road.I wonder how Ethan got Tara to marry himself and abandon Willow...
Hmmm. That seems like a reasonable assumption.I guess Willow was pretty devastated about that...
It was a bit buried but I’m glad you found it and loved it now.Somehow I missed LLCTL in the first place. It's also wonderful. Insecure virgin western girl Willow meets the urban lesbian not really a myth Tara Maclay with the twisted humor. Great.
That’s a good way of thinking of it.And if they come together it might seem like the circle closes. It all started with Willow and Tara. Actually they are the foundresses of two clans. Rose and Maclay are the last heiresses of both.
Cool. That was a surprise but a good one. I really wondered how WT would fit into this family tree.
Yes. They met in 1871 when Willow was either 18 or 19. I’m playing a little fast and loose with ages later on in this story and going to let the reader assume that there are probably some questions regarding exact dates and such.If I remember correctly Willow was 19 when they met. So it had to be 1871.
Correct.Tara's first son was born in 1882. Makes it nearly 10 years inbetween.
No, she did not marry. As far as his father and her motivation… it will be forthcoming but the baby’s father will not be a force in his life.Willow's sun Daniel didn't seem to have a father. At least W wasn't married.
Correct. They both died at a young age in the same year 1887.
More details in the next update.I do wonder what this is supposed to mean. Maybe they died together.
I’d say you’ve just hit on part of the mystery here. Some of this will be explained and some you’ll have to speculate on.Did they split after 10 years? I do not believe they did. Something else must have made Tara to marry Ethan and have three children with him. Ethan of all men?
Spoiler – Xander is not Daniel’s father.Who might Daniel's father be? Xander perhaps?
I’m going to go ahead and call that the understatement of the month.Seems like he betrayed Willow's father with the heritage.
Probably one of the central questions of this story. I’ll tease this. You’ll find out part of the answer to that question in the next update. How did Willow and Tara die?
Excellent question. Rose knows more than anyone alive in the world knows. She knows all the cookie-cutter pieces and knows basically the whys/wheres/when/whos. She has a few remaining questions and of course wants her evidence. How much does Rose know?

Hmmm. I’m not answering that completely but I think you see some evidence so far.So the bastard Ethan killed them both...
Yes and double Yes.Ethan's role is very suspicious - and Riley is a twit.
Thank you so much. You have, as usual, done a great job of setting the scene and creating 3 dimensional characters to draw us into a story. I'm looking forward to more of your magic.
Good that Tip doesn't seem bitchy about her doubts, if you want to call them that.
Anyways, I really love the update. I was practically bouncing in my seat, and I nearly hit my computer when I read about stupid Rayne. So I'm guessing he's responsible for both of their deaths. Poor Tara, to have to be with Rayne and then watch him shoot Willow right in front of her. I suppose I could see Tara killing herself after Willow died, if Rayne isn't directly responsible for her death. But still, I really dislike him. And it doesn't help any that he didn't get what was coming for him but instead got all rich and left a huge legacy behind...at least Mac is showing an interest in the whole thing. That made me happy. I'm starting to see subtle changes in her (or at least I'm seeing a different side of her) and I like it. I am still incredibly curious as to how much Willow knows, and what her intentions are with the knowledge she's obtained...I can't wait for more!!Excellent questions. Well, about 140 years passed…WHAA?!?! What happened to all that is fluffy and rainbows in the world?
Faith generally had a point in her speech but I’m not sure that those who should have made good did. Acutally, I can tell you that they didn’t make good which is what leads to this entire story. Tee hee. No. Willow’s son is not an immaculate conception. There’s not a good explanation for his existance but there is an explanation. It’s quite a few updates away, unfortunately.Faith's speech *was* confusing, and Willow's son? Immaculate conception?
All the credit goes to Chris. I don’t have any idea how to do it and I’m not calling upon him in this chapter mostly because I don’t want to bug him. Those newspaper clippings were really cool looking. They look real. I could never makes something cool like that
Yeah, I’d say that part would really, really suck. Especially given that she lived another 3 weeks.Poor Tara, to have to be with Rayne and then watch him shoot Willow right in front of her.
Sometimes it goes like that. And it doesn't help any that he didn't get what was coming for him but instead got all rich and left a huge legacy behind..
I’m assuming you really mean Rose here and she knows quite a bit which will be revealed as the story goes along. And you’ll also learn what she wants from the Willinghams.I am still incredibly curious as to how much Willow knows, and what her intentions are with the knowledge she's obtained.

– Generally called ‘dibs’.Wow I kind of feel honored commenting first. =]
I’m fascinated at how many people are speculating things like this. I can promise that there’s no direct threat involved. And I can also say that Ethan is very much behind it all. This whole Rayne/Maclay thing is killing me! I guess I can see a plot unfolding where Ethan is threatening Willow and Tara being the passionate person she is marries Ethan.
Thanks. It was fun to write something that I tried to do in Tara’s voice rather than Willow’s. There will be more from each of them, particularly in the next few years of story (their story) so hopefully their voices are distinct. The letter added just the right touch. 1/3 heartfelt, 1/3 authenticity, 1/3 confusion. I am right with Mac, WTF happened.
Again, welcome. My de-lurking could be a sign of the apocalypse.
Yeah. I kind of thought of your assortment of Willow’s this morning when I was thinking about Mac. She’s incorrigible. Agreed about the dog. I actually thought a little of Paris Hilton when writing her but in a less stupid way.I must say that I do have the hots for womanising, bad-arse Mac..
Hmmm. Interesting assessment. I guess I think that right now she’s simply very focused on her goal. She doesn’t really look very far past getting what she deserves. But, yeah she should get a bit of a life.Rose is really quite sad. While I admire her dedication to her research, sitting around with your nana, playing Jeopardy isn’t exactly how I’d want to spend my days.
It’s a really fun device for sure. The hardest thing is to figure out how to include multiple clips into the narrative. Like, does Mac say, “well there’s this…” and “and then there’s this…”I love the use of a journal, you know how much I like diary entries and what-not. They always give you such an expanded scope for story-telling.
Yes, and a woman in an obvoiously more male-dominated field as well.Plus Willow’s vernacular is really cute and the fact that she is a telegraph operator is just perfect. At the forefront of cutting edge of technology in the Old West.
Well put. She’s very much softening but its’ taking a completely unjaded narrative to get her to do so. The irony is that she’s reading an unjaded narrative from someone who was ultimately murdered at 34 years of age and died poor and alone. Geez. Now I bummed myself out.As Mac is uncovering the mystery, and the lives of Willow and Tara, she’s softening and struggling to understand that such a love could exist.
On the other hand, it’s not like they could be alive today no matter what happened…Tara falls down the stairs and Willow gets shot three times by Tara’s husband…honestly Deb, and I thought I was hard on our girls!
Good guess.Mac really looks like she’s going to win her wager with tip. I can’t quite see how Rose is going to resist her charms, and by the end of the latest chapter, she hasn’t done much resisting at all!

Mac smiled. “Plus she does have that fresh, virginal vibe going for her.”
When she didn’t Mac leaned in to kiss her, the thought crossing her mind that she couldn’t have predicted the softness of those lips.
Yes. It should make you nervous for sure. That trip will be ... let's say important. The trip with Ethan has me worried and concerned as I'm sure its supposed to.
If I said ... "you just wait" would that be cruel? It also makes me sad that they were separated.
Before it's too late... We're actually nearing the end quite quickly. But the bandwagon appreciates you.Woohoo, a chapter in which I can jump on the bandwagon straight away!
She was quite the investor all over. I'm having a little trouble with the exact acreage. I want them to have a sizeable amount but not the Hunt Ranch or something. So it turns out that Willow was quite the property investor.
Both plus the old issue of Ethan not liking Ira or thinking he was good enough for Alice and wanting the post office at the store. Ethan's got a list of grievances on which to build his alleged plot.I think it seems that most quarrels happen over land or women…and is this case you’ve got both.
Oh come on. I want to hear the guess. So I can hazard a guess at what causes their later misfortune.
Yes. It's a good sign. Rose is much more... grounded than I think Mac could know. She's also got her own motives so we'll see where it all goes. And we don’t know how Rose feels about that kiss…she didn’t react in horror…so that has to be a good sign right?
Thanks so much. I had a very fun time writing it and could imagine Cordelia seeing Wilkins as the most eligible man in town.I find it so funny that you mentioned it because I JUST finished the first yesterday morning and absolutely LOVED it. The characters you pulled in to the story were "used" wonderfully. Pairing Cordelia and Wilkins as the leadership of the town was such an interesting twist.
Nice pickup on the contrast there. That sort of contrast will sort of come up again in a coming chapter. I also think that she's basically been brought up "right" to be a lady or lady-like but also realized and came to terms with her personal preference at an early age. Her comment is meant 1/2 just to amuse herself and 1/2 to feel out Willow a bit. Sort of like those "I'm a friend of Bill's..." leadins.Tara was perfect as the not-quite-naive school marm. The time you spent developing her was evident. Here's this dynamic woman that won't dare stay in a saloon but makes a naughty reference to 'Long Lick' all on the same day. Fantastic.
I can hardly wait.Seriously. Loved it. Easily one of the best I've read in a long time. Now I'm not very far along in the Revisit, so I will gush about that in a few days.
I've been enjoying this story from the beginning - sorry for neglecting to submit feedback.
