Right or Left handed?

A string of lefty Kittens sprang up one night in the Random Facts thread ... I'm curious to see just how many of us there are out there.

EDIT (1/24/08) - It would appear there are not really as many of us as I thought.

EDIT (2/2/08) - Good Lord! We're getting out-voted more and more! Surely there are more Lefties on the Board than this!

Natural ambidexterity is exceedingly rare - most folks who are ambidexterous started out with a dominant hand (usually the left) but later learned to use both. I'm looking for real Lefties, folks who were born and live left-handed in a right-handed world.

I hear different figures, usually between 5%-10%, for rates of left-handedness in the general public, but I was curious to see if that held true here on the Kittenboard. I had a feeling there might've been a few more of us Lefties, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Add me to the "hey, where's the ambi love?" list. I don't meet your definition of left-handed, but I also don't meet the definition of ambidextrous. I am just floating around, lost and alone. It's sad.

I was born left-handed, but I broke my left arm when I was 5 and some of the adaptations I had to make then have stuck with me. There are some things I just cannot do with my right hand, but others I cannot do with my left.

That's kind of my point on ambidexterity - you were born left-handed but for one reason or another (in your case, an injury) had to adapt. There's a lot of things I can't do left-handed anymore, too. I play guitar right-handed. I golf right-handed. But for the majority of things, particularly detailed things, I am much more comfortable with my left.

Perhaps the subject of this poll was misleading - I was trying to discover if there were a higher percentage of Lefty Kittens than in the populace at large.

I said right-handed but I am ambidexterous after an act of stupidity at the age of 13 that wound up with my right arm in a cast for 6 weeks and a parent who insisted that I learn to write with my left hand.
