Very well, ktv! I accept your challenge!

Behold, my TROLL HAMMER!!

I stagger back in awe. My delectable little worms feel woefully inadequate.

I offer the following in tribute to the one and only corn, errr... gorn (nut):

*Sigh* So this Thursday finds me in the doctor's office . . . turns out I have some sort of virus. On the upside, I've got the rest of the week off, doctor's orders, and my wifey waiting on me hand on foot, so I can't complain too much.

I am not worthy to behold the troll hammer! :bow :bow

This Thursday is a fun and relaxing one hereabouts. Though for some reason I'm craving soda. Like, a lot, like I want one of those ginormous 44 ounce drinks from 7-11.

Enjoying my day... listening to a lot of 10,000 maniacs music, thinking of doing some writing, maybe watching a Bollywood movie that nimloth recommended.

Nice to have a relaxing day. Thank the gods for Thursday!

Dibs!

Can you have "dibs" on a weekly thread? Hmmmm....

So I had a lovely day yesterday, with a morning of play and an afternoon of productive field work. The weather was about as good as it gets.

I also saw my first live, wild bobcat on Tuesday, which pleased me. I took a walk and noticed him (her?) lying by the creek, glaring casually at me. Luckily the dog was bouncing around a good distance away and there was no attempt to chase the bobcat.

The weather is nice at least this morning, so I am off to the field again. If you are so inclined, cross your fingers for me - I put out hundreds of lettuce transplants yesterday and fear the deer may have had a lovely buffet over night.

Happy Thursday all.

Thursday dibs, MKF? Can she DO that ... ?

We've got some really nice weather here, too, so I'm gonna look the other way on this whole dibs thing. Beautiful, beautiful day.

And, of course, I'm spending almost all of it in the office. As nice as it is, though, I think I'll be finding ways to get myself outside as much as possible. Maybe take calls on my cell phone out by the koi pond. We've also got a nice gazebo for the smokers - I don't smoke cigarettes myself, but this might be the perfect day to get out there and mingle with the folks a bit, be friendly.

Mrs. Gorn bought fresh shrimp the other day. She's never bought fresh shrimp before, so I'm kind of excited. She said she's going to make a creamy-tomato shrimp something or other. I've got my fingers crossed that it might be tonight, but we've been SO sleepy this week it might be Friday or Saturday before it happens (she doesn't play World of Warcraft, so I can't imagine why she's as sleepy as I am).

I look to be surprisingly not so busy today, so with a little luck I might be able to come back here later and swing my Troll Hammer around a bit. I really, really, really love this title, MKF.

Ok, I can't decide whether I am more jealous of Boschi's bobcat or gorn's Troll Hammer...

It is beautiful here today too, MKF! What a fascinating triad of pleasant weather; New York, Kentucky, and ye olde Middle o' the Middle. Go figure.

I had good day yesterday as well. Weather was beautiful, I got to work from home, had a charming dinner with a friend at the neighborhood greasy spoon. And then I got to watch Mrs. Leaf attempt to eat a nutmeg thinking it was chocolate. Good times.

I have a friend coming into town this weekend and am looking forward to getting to be touristy in my own city. I always love that.

Have a good day everybodies!

Oh such a beautiful Thursday, but can we please somehow get rid of all the pollen. My allergies are killing me so I took the day off. I could have gone in but really I didn't feel like it. I've had a crappy week and I just needed a day away. And Thursday is a good day to do it. Now I'm going to pop benadryl like its my job and probably sleep quite a bit. Everbody have a great and pollen free Thursday. Peace out kittens.

happy thursday, party people!

i was running late to work this morning and caught a train with my most favorite MAX driver of all time. as we cross the steel bridge over the willamette heading into downtown this guy comes on the loudspeaker and in a very pilot-like voice tells us we're crossing into the downtown of the beautiful rose city, updates us on the current temperature and gives the forecast for the rest of the day and then proceeds to give an encouraging but awkwardly worded little wish for the loveliness of our day (my favorite... "i hope it goes well for you out there today"). it's totally random and cheesy, but i absolutely love it when i'm late and end up on this guy's train. totally gives me the warm fuzzies for some reason and whenever anyone groans or rolls their eyes i want to break their nose with the handle of my umbrella.

the ogre is out of the office for a bit this morning so that is also contributing to the awesomeness of my thursday. plus there's some actual blue sky showing up in this land o' constant grey. yay! maybe i'll see if that beast a* wants to have lunch outside today. we're doing quite well with our "just buddies" thing right now... it helps that i am juggling a small handful of other broads. sigh.

KTV, that guy sounds AWESOME! I wish our train drivers did that. I have no one to make me less grumpy in the morning damnit.

Anyway.. *hugs Thursday* You're so close to Friday, oh how I love you. The last stop on the road to weekend drinkage!

Now the question is.. To go out tonight.. Or not.

well, if dibs are now acceptable in this thread, i'm calling it... DIBS!

i have had the worst week, MKF. the worst. 90% of it has been work-related misery (big project, looming deadline, uncooperative clients, and ogre boss being more dickheady than usual) but things are settled and swell again this fine thursday morning.

in fact, i changed my myspace status this morning to: "[ktv] is worshiping at the altar of thursday and praying for a turnaround today." and lo and behold, things are better!

so now i'm just taking a few minutes to catch up on email, read the news and the board and chill after getting the package off to the courier. note to self: do not read the news when aiming for a good mood. teenage girl in japan killed herself by mixing detergent and household cleaners and poisoned 90 of her neighbors in the process. and apparently nalgene bottles can give you cancers. great. and the world is rioting over food prices and shortages. oh, and did you know that there may be no polar bears in alaska by 2050? jesus.

yeah, have a great thursday everyone! :wink

ETA: i left my wallet at home today. and i was so excited about fleeing the building to have a good lunch finally. grr.

Bad, bad Thursday. :( Everyone asking if I'm okay and me telling them I'm fine.

BUT! There will be drinkage tonight after I finish a bit of studying. That'll make everything better. Or maybe worse. We'll see.

Hey Kittens, isn't today just fabulous, if you ignore gas poisioning and polar bear extinction, that is ;-)

You know, that mixing of bleach and ammonia is not of the good, it creates chlorine gas and can also create another explosive gas whose name escapes me. Who said chemistry was useless!!

I've had a fantastic day. It's my birthday and it's payday, and a few drinks have been had. Got money instead of pressies, so now all I have to decide is whether to buy a blue-ray dvd player or a nintendo wii.

Happy Thursday MKF :kitty

Yet another busy Thursday, MKF! The Board of Directors is having their big quarterly meeting at our plant tomorrow, so this whole week has pretty much been putting the house in order for like the mother of all mother-in-laws. They're flying in from Japan tonight and I have been drafted into drinking with them again (yes, as our plant's only japanese-speaking American, am I the Designated Drinker). Should be a short night, though, as they'll all be jet-lagged. Friday night's drinking should take much longer.

I don't have much time because my house is still not in order, but I'm glad to hear everyone's having such a great Thursday! Except for the Japanese chemistry students and the polar bears. The polar bears will probably be OK, though.

It's kind of embarassing to think that, even had I wanted to, I would not have had the technical know-how to kill myself with homemade chlorine gas. The Japanese educational system is so far ahead of us in so many ways ... Kudos to Paint the Sky, though! If I'm going to go to that much trouble to off myself, I'm calling Paint the Sky first!

p.s. Might I recommend the Nintendo Wii?

Oh hip hip hooray for Thursday goodness. All in all it has been a pretty fast week but a mighty stressful one also. It's like summertime here in good ol KY, it reached 80 today. Now it looks like thunderstorms might be on the horizon. My repaired Xbox 360 was shipped today so hopefully I'll be seeing it soon. I've missed killing zombies and being an assassin. Yes the things you can be with a video game console. And gorn, I would never ever regret being the designated drinker! That's the best DD there is. I wish my job would assign me as the designated driver but then again I would probably open my mouth up too much and be fired the next day. Well Kittens, enjoy the rest of your Thursday goodness b/c it only comes once a week! CHEERS! :dance

Lollygagger? Who da hell you callin' a looooollygagger?

:cool

I am here. And I have found a morel. Am I not cool?

Just one, unfortunately, but I'm betting there will be more in the near future. My mouth is watering just thinking about morels sauteed in butter.

And! I'm headed to sell at market for the first time Saturday. Woot.

I've been on a run of finding stray dogs lately. What is the issue with putting tags on dogs? Hmm? Is it that hard? And with keeping them either with you, in the house, or in a fenced yard? Or at least not wandering down the middle of the road.

Sigh... so that is my bitchy rant for Thursday. But really, really it has been a good day.

The dogs have been returned, my transplants are looking spiffy and flowering right on time, and, did I mention, I found a morel!

Allrighty. Again I say Woot!

Happy Thursday, all.

This Thursday, I'm settling down on my comfy couch with some french-bread pizza, a coke, and a full season of Degrassi: the next generation.

Mmm... yummy food and drink, and the crazy, life-lesson-learning antics of Canadian teenagers. Truly, Thursday is good to me.

Sorry to be slacking on my Thursday duties, MKF. I was, you know, working. One of these days I'll get my priorities straight, hmmm? :p

I had myself a good (albeit looooooong) day today. The weather was just freaking beautiful and I even got to go out in it for an hour during the afternoon. My schedule was full and my clients (for the most part) were quite nice. And I found a parking spot in less than 5 minutes when I had to move the car tonight for street cleaning. Good stuff all around.

Hiya Thursday folks - today, today my name shall be Pinky.

Yesterday I sunburned to a lovely rose. For the remainder of today I will be out in the sun once again, trying to till and prep beds before the rain hits this afternoon. Wheeeeeeee.

My truck was towed away this morning for a serious day at the spa... needs to be rekeyed, get a new tire and generally be pampered.
I'm not really looking forward to the bill, but it will be good to have little Nikita back in working order.

And that is pretty much my Thursday plan.

gorn, my volumney friend, your state is merely a result of the plethora, plentitude, and abundancy of wit you contain.

ktv, the shady lady, I commend your recent sexual prowess.

Leaf, I am still obsessed with this waffle business. I'm contemplating pricing out a mobile truck and the equipment necessary to serve organic waffles and toppings at market. In the meantime, I pout in your general direction.

Pts, woahnellie, and all other Thursday-keteers that I have most inconsiderately failed to mention, best wishes to you all and to all a good Thursday.
Don't confuse me with your reasonableness.

Heh. I love Thursdays, but I'm totally not feeling it this week. Woke up up grumpy, which is the only way to be at 5:30 AM, and I still have the lingering irritation from a conversation I had last night. Gorged myself on a fast food breakfast, which is a major no-no for me, but you can't beat the dollor burrito from Mickey D's. In addition to being tired and lethargic, i've got a nagging cough that won't leave me alone.

But, on the upside, the sun's out, I've got an easy workload, and an extension on a project that was due today. Happy Thursday everyone!

Morning all!

I spent the morning at the mechanic myself today (didn't have to be towed there though - so, having some gratitude about that). I believe I may have actually found a mechanic who I like, so I'm pleased about the situation overall. He was kind, patient, in possession of actual listening skills, non-alarmist, not even remotely patronizing, and came with a lot of good recommendations. How 'bout that?

I had the day off yesterday and it was so very nice. A little bit cool and very sunny. Oooh - and I had a facial. This amuses me no end, because I am truly not a facial having kind of girl. But one of the estheticians at work wanted to do a trade, so I thought what the heck. So I got all scrubbed and exfoliated and moisturized and I'm not sure what all else because I think I fell asleep a bit. But I have to say, afterwards I looked quite pretty - all glowing and such. He he he.

I'm off for work in a moment or two, looking at a rather daunting day. But it is Thursday and so I shall not despair. My enormous cat Wesley just climbed up on my lap, I presume to be included in the festivities. He hopes tuna will be involved. Let him down gently, folks.

Take care everybody!

-Leaf

p.s. hey Bosch - if you are serious about investigating the waffle vending business, the guy who runs the waffle truck here is really nice, and would probably be happy to chat with you about it... http://www.wafelsanddinges.com/

hello my fellow lovers o'thursday!

i'm late to this whole waffle obsession thing, but having viewed the menu, i might also suffer from waffle envy. damn! i really want one with nutella for some reason. how about a kitten field trip to nyc?? leafy, you can put us all up, right?

so, i've whittled my harem down to two women and have still been running on fumes for the past week. i might start hallucinating soon from the sleep deprivation. i'm old! in the interest of full disclosure (and to invite kicks to my teeth) i should note that a* is one of the remaining ladies. things kind of picked up with her, in a physical way, in the past week and i am a-okay with it. i don't want to cuddle or have babies with her, just want to get sweaty in her firm's nap room on my lunch hour. that's reasonable right? the other girl is the 23-year-old politico and it is hot hot hot (but not in a buster poindexter kind of way). both of them know about each other and could care less as long as they can have me. i've never been so sought after! this is going to go to my head. it may be too late, actually.

i was about an hour late to work this morning (too much fun last night) and am now ducking my boss and trying to get caught up on some stuff before he starts asking for it. i've got to head out to get fingerprinted for the bar exam in a bit (seriously, the most invasive application i've ever heard of). i wonder how easily that ink comes off or if i'll be walking around at lunch looking like some kind of perp. could do wonders for my street cred.

happy may day people!

What's wrong with Buster Poindexter, MKF? I love that image of him getting out of the limo with the martini in his hand. If I ever won the lottery, I'd have that exact same look on my face every day (night).

The convenience of the waffle truck sounds rather nice, but I live in the South and there's a Waffle House on every street corner. My little town has no Starbucks ... but has two Waffle Houses. Gotta love it.

Seriously, I live in a town with no Starbucks. Such places do exist, and after reading this --> http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid= ... l76o.cQsKE <-- that doesn't look to be changing anytime soon.

Anyway, I've got another busy Thursday, MKF. I'm STILL trying to catch up from taking that disasterous Monday off. Gotta mow the lawn when I get home, too, but that's not so bad. Kinda looking forward to that.

Re: It's just Thursday, MKF! 1/29/04

Hey all you lovely Thursday people.

I'm completley knackered, started work at 8am this morning and didn't get home until 10pm this evening. It was a killer day, way, way too long.

The first Thursday of every month our 'Friends' group have their meeting and tonight was my turn, and to say I dislike it is a big understatement. If I didn't get paid overtime for it I'd tell them to stick it.

Tonight they decided to have a bit of a social thing before the meeting, so that meant the frigging meeting didn't start until 8.50pm.

But the worst thing, they had decided that a game of bowls would be jolly good fun. Now this kind of bowling is not the fun kind with the pins, noise, beer and pizza.

Oh, no, it was lawn bowls - the sport of grumpy old people.

If lawn bowls means nothing to you, and be grateful it deoesn't, here's a link for you http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lawn_bowling

We played pairs, and me and another woman were playing against the chairman, beating him and his partner 7 shots to 4, and he insisted in playing two more ends until he decided that the game should end in an honourable draw.

The only up side was that one of the ladies baked cakes and scones for the traditional cuppa. I wonder if she can make waffles ;-)

Heaven know's what they have planned for the next meeting!!

I hope your Thursday is/has been better than mine :smash

TGIT, THANK GOD IT'S THURSDAY, MKF!!!!!! It's been an excellent week, and being Thursday makes it a hell of a lot better. Things have been going much better for me this week. I got my xbox 360 back, and my refurbed TV, and got an estimate for my car wreck. I also sold my old laptop, so I'm coming in with some good money. Maybe I can save up for a special trip ;-) . I just wish my grandma would be ok. She is back in the hospital with another blood clot, and I hope it passes. Say a little prayer for her. Tomorrow I will go to a fun party :pinky oh yeah. Happy Thursday my peeps!!
