i've got my wmp on shuffle mode right now, so it's cycling through the couple thousand songs i've got on my computer.

curently playing:
"how deep is your love" - the bee gees

and the last six songs included:

"guinevere" - lucy kaplansky
"the moneymaker" - rilo kiley
"at last" - etta james
"gravel" - ani difranco
"up to the mountain (MLK song)" - patty griffin
"rootless tree" - damien rice

up next appears to be:
"midnight train to georgia" - gladys knight and the pips.

i think i'm going to make a playlist consisting of the following:

the nields
tori amos
tegan and sara
brandi carlile
kathleen edwards
melissa ferrick
mirah

i'm in a chick mood. heh.
"Threads that are golden don't break easily." - Tori Amos, "Horses"

Seems I haven't posted here in ages, so I guess it's time for an updated list. Still listening to Feist's Reminder cd (so happy many more people are hearing her music lately) and Tegan and Sara's The Con. Also been playing a lot of Arcade Fire this week after seeing them on Austin City Linits and being reminded of how wonderful they are, especially live. Here's the newest music I've liked, arranged for your convenience with the quieter things up top and a couple of louder, faster choices at the end.

Basia Bulat, Oh My Darling (Hardwood/Rough Trade), http://www.basiabulat.com
Serena Ryder, Told You in a Whispered Song ep (Atlantic), http://www.serenaryder.com
Kate Nash, Made of Bricks(Fiction) , http://www.katenash.co.uk
Missy Higgins, On a Clear Night(Reprise), http://www.missyhiggins.com
Eisley,Combinations(Reprise), http://www.eisley.com
Stars, In Our Bedroom After the War(Arts & Crafts), http://www.arts-crafts.ca/stars
Spiral Beach, Ball (Sparks), http://www.spiralbeach.com
Grace Potter and The Nocturnals, This Is Somewhere (Hollywood), http://www.gracepotter.com
Plastiscines, LP1 (Caroline), http://www.plastiscines-music.com
Die Mannequin, Slaughter Daughter (How To Kill), http://www.diemannequin.blogspot.com

I'm ashamed to admit I don't recognize a single name on your list, but I did see Feist on Saturday Night Live tonight.

That's ok, I probably haven't heard of half of the artists mentioned here. One of the things I like most about this thread is the amazing diversity in the lists. Mind you I also like it when someone like Feist finally breaks out to a wide audience.

Amen.

I don't recall if it was in this particular thread, but it was definately from the Kittenboard that I found a singer called Leona Naess. I would never, never in a million years have stumbled across her otherwise, and she's got a song called "Northern Star" which is now almost always in my after-midnight playlist.

Not so much a playlist but a humble request for song recs . . . I'm cutting a friend's wedding video, and I'm kinda lost on songs at the moment. They're big country fans, and I'm not too familiar with the genre, but anything you guys can recommend to jog my editing juices would be very helpful. Doesn't necessarily have to be country music, just something that would fit with a lovey dovey sappy hopelessly romantic wedding video. Thanks!
