Things I've Achieved So Far This Week
1. After a month of (im)patiently waiting, I've finally managed to agree on a price with the seller for a car I've had my eye on.
2. Paid holding deposit to aforementioned seller so he won't flog the car off to someone else before I get there (as I'm in Canberra and the car's in Brisbane).
3. Harrassed aforementioned seller for three days straight in order to get him to fax me a copy of the roadworthy/safety certificate for the vehicle in question.
4. Booked airfare to Brisbane for Saturday morning.
5. Made contact with an old mate who now lives in Brisbane, who has kindly offered to pick me up at the airport and drive me to the seller's house.
6. Arranged for a REVS check to make sure the vehicle has no finance owing on it.
7. Arranged for my comprehensive insurance and road service to cover the new vehicle as of Saturday.
8. Planned out route for driving home from Brisbane, and booked accommodation at Port Macquarie for Saturday night.
9. Booked a vehicle inspection for next week in order to change the rego on my new car over from QLD to ACT.
10. Waited until I'd done all of the above before telling my parents (aka The Biggest Worriers In The World) about it. Once they calmed down and realised the world won't end just cause I'm driving 1200km, they offered to take me to the airport on Saturday and feed my cats while I'm gone.
11. Went to the bank and arranged a cheque for the purchase price of the vehicle (less the holding deposit).
12. Printed out flight itinerary, accommodation booking confirmation, and detailed driving directions.
Now all that's left to do is pack a bag, fly to Brissie tomorrow morning, finalise the purchase and drive home. Simple, really.
