I´d rather be bored than working, but that is just me. I prefer getting paid for doing absolutely nothing. I do not suffer from work ethics fortunately. :p
And Guppy, please leave some for me, all this not working is making me thirsty.

Holley,

I like summer vacation!!

I NEED the downtime to recharge for the academic year (Sept to June). I wouldn't mind taking summer classes... as a student, not the instructor... but I need the slower pace of no classes to prep, present or papers to grade!!

I just wish that this summer could have been more of a recharge than a set of deadlines & obligations.

And now less than three weeks until "pre-school year" meetings start...

Can someone come & rescue me??

(and I am seriously thinking of leaving teaching & getting into computer support & repair work.... less stress, but I would truly miss "my" students)

I would LOVE to be independently wealthy and stay home and do nothing all day - or rather, to do whatever I wanted. Boredom? Not a problem. There's yard work, political volunteering, TV and the internet, BOOKS, travel, letter-writing to friends, shopping...

...maybe I should get back into the Powerball ticket buying hobby.

i'm with you sally. i don't understand these people who are like "oh, if i won the lottery i'd still keep my job, i need to keep busy." screw that. i would absolutely not be bored. i'd travel, lounge about, do things on my own schedule. how is that boring?? oh, i so need to marry a wealthy woman so i can retire soon.

Hah! Hah! I remembered that I saw this thread, and I finally remembered it on Thursday.

Again. I am so cool.

And sleep deprived.

And so very procrastinating.

Oh yeah. Thursday.

Awwwww... cmon guys. It's a cute little thread. I just stumbled on it, all weak and fluttery, a page or two back on the board. Big eyes, fluffy fur... surely it deserves a better fate.

C'mon then... clap if you believe. Or better yet, feel the Thursday spirit and post.

OK... it's Thursday and there's lots going on.

It would seem that I lost my job today. I have two others, so I'm not really worried. The small college that I work for decided to kill the marching band program, so they have no further need for a band director. They are paying me through the end of the month, so no worries there.

The part that I find the hardest to acknowledge is that this decision makes me really happy. I'm done fighting with the students who want to do everything half-assed, and fighting with the administrators who wonder why I can't just make the students do the right thing. I just want to lock them all in a room together, sit back, crack open a beer and watch them beat the hell out of each other.

Does this make me a bad person? I hope not.

So here's to weird Thursdays!

Yay thursday, and that means tomorrow is Friday. I worked but had meetings all day, I must admit a certain amount of relief at not having to deal with kids today.

I am anxious and apprehensive, I move this weekend and I don't want to lol, but I do want to, but I don't lol A new place to live is stressful! It's just as nerve wracking as the few times we've moved the board.

Still, still, Thursday!

It's getting a little colder here. We'll be in the single digits for highs over the weekend. Chicago is in the Superbowl, and while I really don't care, I'm going to a Superbowl party anyway. My boss always has one, and she's great, so, I go.

Chicago is going to be scary insane this weekend.

Long live the Thursday thread!

This thread is fun. I love the randomness.

It is soooo not Thursday anymore, but I shall post here anyway. (We don't really need an "It's just Friday, MKF!" thread.)

It's cold! For the Southerner, lows in the 20s qualifies. We are not completely unfamiliar with single-digit cold, and it does occasionally get below zero even here, but I think we would lose our minds if we had a lot of arctic weather. Let's not even mention the S word, because saying it causes mass panic as the entire population invades grocery stores for bread and milk and batteries. I always laughed at that until we got a foot of the stuff one year, the whole city shut down for days, and I was left with, like, two packs of ramen and one slice of cheese. Since then, I join the mass panic when it occurs.

Super Bowl... :sleep

I have been growing fresh catnip for my kitties for months now and do you know, they turn their noses up to it? If it comes out of a plastic bowl from the petstore, they will kill me to get to it. If it comes out of some dirt in a pot in the window, they act like I'm stupid to think they might be interested. What's up with that?

A few random links:

I hope everyone's doing well and having a good day/night. Take care of yourselves, Kittens. :heart

Bears lost, oh well.

It's negative 7 out! I know that's nothing for some of our hardier international citizens, but damn, that's cold for me. Sheesh. I'm going to have to work out some serious layers if I want to go out without freezing tomorrow.

So hey moderators: do you all look at stats of kittenboard use? ok, that sounded like a question with motive, but it really isnt. I'm just curious.

I used to a lot, now I'll look to check bandwidth and stuff. There's all kinds of interesting stuff in there. When we had loads of traffic we didn't have sophisticated stats, now this server gives me lots of data. Like in January we had 10577 unique visitors for a total of 47834 visits, and 2488616 hits. I do know that the google bot is responsible for some of that hee.

Can't quite put my finger on it, but I'm remarkably intrigued by this thread.

I had quite a good Thursday, and it looks to only get better. We had horrible weather lately, but today was 60 degrees & blue sky. Things more or less fell into place at work, no big emergencies. Going to a party tonight with a bunch of my Japanese co-workers at the best (only) Japanese restaurant in town. I haven't had decent sushi since I was in Japan last November.

Yup, this is a good Thursday. And as good as it is ... tomorrow is FRIDAY!!

Postby Boschi » Thu Mar 01, 2007 10:18 am

So yesterday I spent outside starting to put together this 20 x 50 greenhouse structure thing, (are you all sick of hearing about this yet?) and am taking a minute to pat myself on the head for getting a pretty incredible amount of it done. Still lots to do, but most of the main rafters are up.

And, with the exception of having my dear mother hold one side of some supports as I raised them, I did it all by my lonesome. Once mom left I actually figured out a way to do the support raising on my own, using some concrete blocks as bracing. Turns out my mother is about as useful as three concrete blocks. :) Which, in this case, was very.

So yay me. The weather during the day was awesome - blue skies, minimal wind and moderate temps. Then, last night, we got hit with monster thunderstorms and flash flooding. Currently, it is snowing and blowing outside. So while I'd like to be outside working more, I am instead grudgingly doing paperworky stuff. Sigh. At least I'm not in the Iowa blizzards.

So happy Thursday all. :dance

So today is the first Thursday in March. Oh, March 1st. Anyway, I'm looking foward to today to be over 'cause I'm off tomorrow and that's not so great either...have to clean the house. I have family visiting next weekend and my house looks like a tornado blew through it.
But other than that, I'm happy, I'm in love (11years strong) and I like my life. So messy house be damned... I'm going for ice cream.

You should be grateful your house only LOOKS like a tornado blew through ... we're under tornado watches here until late tonight.

Ah, but it's Thursday! And my favourite thread is once again bounced to the forefront.

Had a rough week at work, but things are calming down today. That's always nice on a Thursday, you know? I like just being able to slide through Friday without any drama, and a good Thursday can set that up.

I also paid off the balance on my credit card for the first time in almost a year. Woo woo!! My wife & I were going to go out and celebrate tonight, but with the weather so bad it's a good night to stay home and batten down the hatches. Probably just as well - it IS kind of stupid to celebrate paying off your card by going out and immediately running up a big bill on it for dinner.

gorn - yeah, I kinda laughed when I read your plan to go out for a big dinner to celebrate credit card payoff. Forgive me, no disrespect intended, just gave me a chuckle.

And hey, an evening in could have vastly more potential than an evening out anyway. Nail down the shutters and have a private tornado party.
