Amber "Gryphon"

Postby Dana5140 » Tue Sep 27, 2005 5:02 am

In the new Buffy magazine, which has a lead story on Amber with wonderful new photos by Danielle (as well as some stills from LLL), there is one bit of information that came as a surprise. Amber says she has a role in a film in development for the Science Fiction Channel, called Gryphon, which sounds like a sword and sorcery film set in outer space. I think she said that she is playing a princess warrior. Someone else pointed out to me that the description of the film says that the story involves a princess fighting a fight involving this magical gryphon, so it sounds like it could be a lead role. I sure hope that's correct!

Amber on the Sci-Fi Channel? Woo-Hoo.
I can see Amber as a kick-ass sword/sorcery heroine. Some kind of Amazon warrior/high priestess sort of part.
She gets to wear Xena's leather outfit and there needs to be a shot somewhere where the camera slowly moves lovingly up her person as she dresses for battle.
I can deny chicks in chainmail nothing.

Well, I am looking forward to this movie as I love fantasy but I do worry that it will be cheesy. I don't mind if the movie is low budget (it is a tv movie after all with limited resources) but I do hope that they do not try to compensate for that with cheesy dialogue or turn the film into a farce. After Lord of the Rings, the public doesn't expect cheesy. We want epic, or at least a serious tone.

On saying that, the idea of watching Amber kick some major butt is something I am excited about (not just for the image). As Tara, I know several people who called her "wet" and I think she needs a role like this to show she can play tough.

So I will watch it when it makes it's way over to the UK (which I hope will be not too long after the US broadcast) but I still have reservations as to the tone of the piece. But either way, I think Amber will be good in it.
