Sorry for the double post:

Title – Survivor – Ash Island

Part 28 – Week 11

Author – JustSkipIt

Pairing – Here’s the story, of a girl named Willow. She was living with three computers of her own. They were bored and living all together. But they were all alone. Till this one Island when this playgirl met this mama. And she knew that it was much more than a hunch. That these girls would someday form a family. And that’s why it’s called … W/T of course.

Feedback – Oh yes.

Spoilers–None

Rating – PG

Disclaimer – I own none of these characters nor do I own Survivor. And believe it or not, I also don’t own any small islands. On the other hand, this island is fictional so let’s say I own it. I’m making no money from this fiction and intend no copyright infringement.

Day 31
The camera sweeps over the beach showing the remains of what has apparently been a vicious storm overnight. Part of the shelter appears to have blown down and the remains of the fire circle lay scattered about. We see the cooking pot laying a good ways down the beach and it is obvious that the fire is completely out.

Faith is shown emerging from what is left of the shelter. She kicks restlessly at the branches strewn at her feet and mutters what are obviously curse words.

Confessional Caption – Faith – Personal Trainer
“Last night was the worst storm since we’ve been here. It wasn’t just the girls huddled together: we all were. The shelter looks like **beep** and we have to fix it before the next challenge.” She plucks at her clothing with a finger to show her disgust. “I’ve never been so cold and wet and miserable in my life.”

Willow emerges from the shelter next stretching and looking just as miserable as Faith did. She is quickly joined by Kendra. “Fire?” the young black woman asks.

“Out and wet,” Willow says yawning.

“I’ll l-l-light it, if someone can go get some w-wood.” With the consensus that Tara is the best at starting fires, they all agree.

“I didn’t know you were up,” Willow says as she walks toward the blonde with a smile.

Robin joins the others as he also looks around the area. “I hope there’s not a challenge today,” he says as he shakes his head at the destruction.

Next we see shots of the group working to gather firewood and something to eat. True to her word, Tara is starting the fire and seems to do so quite effortlessly. Once the fire is burning well, the group all stand around warming themselves and attempting to dry their clothing slightly. They drink their water and eat bites of rice with coconut. “What if we don’t rebuild the whole shelter?” Faith suggests.

“Good idea,” Willow agrees. “There are only five of us and we can snuggle in.” We see the group working throughout the day to rebuild the shelter. After nightfall we see the girls snuggled close in the rebuilt shelter.

Confessional Caption – Robin – High School Principal
Robin is shown clearly in the night-vision camera. “Again I say, I worked my black butt off today. I better not be going home because of some girl power thing. They want me working, I want to make final four.”

Day 32
After commercial we see the same sweeping shot of the beach and shelter. This time, however, the scene is much more peaceful. Birds are singing, the sun has risen, and images of iguana and other island flora and fauna greet us.

“We’ve got mail.” Robin hands the slingshot and poem to Willow.

“You’ve done it before
Do it again.
And you may be
The one to win.”

Reward Challenge
“Welcome.” Jeff greets the Survivors as they enter and take their places on the mat. “You probably figured out that today’s challenge is again a slingshot game. He points to a structure built behind him. The bamboo structure has five columns. At the top of each column is a Tiki with a passable likeness of each participant.

“Hey look,” Kendra says, “there you are Tara.”

Faith teases the only man left in the game. “Man, Robin, the glare off that head is getting me.” They all laugh at their idols for a few minutes.

Below each idol hangs a rope with three ceramic squares tied in a line.

“You will take turns shooting out the tiles, when your idol falls you are out of the game. Last idol left wins.” Everyone cheers. “Want to know what you are playing for?”

He points to a table to the side. The table holds a catalog and a telephone. “The winner will have 15 minutes to spend $250 on clothing from Lands End. The clothing will arrive either tonight or tomorrow morning.” They all scream at the thought of wearing actual clean clothes.

We see the survivors standing in front of the structure. “We’ve drawn for shooting order,” Jeff announces.

Robin steps to the line first and immediately knocks off Kendra’s top tile. Willow shoots next and manages to miss all the tiles. Kendra takes deliberate aim and returns the favor by shattering one of Robin’s tiles. Faith steps up next. She takes aims at Robin’s tile but apparently misfires as she knocks off one of Tara’s. Tara shoots and hits Robin’s tile. “Robin with only one tile left,” Jeff recaps, “Kendra and Tara with two each and Willow and Faith have all their tiles.”

Robin takes careful aim and manages to even things up a bit as Faith’s line is quickly one tile less. Willow makes good on her next shot as she hits Robin’s final square. The girls cheer as his icon falls. “And Robin is out of the competition!”

Kendra shoots next and her shot glances off Willow’s tile but miraculously does not break it. Faith misses completely although it appears that she is aiming for Willow’s tile. On Tara’s turn, she breaks Kendra’s second tile. “Everyone has shot twice and we have Willow with all three tiles left, Kendra with one, and Faith and Tara with two each,” Jeff recaps.

With Robin out of the competition, Willow gets the next shot and breaks one of Tara’s tiles. The other girls all look shocked even after the redhead mouths a “sorry.”

Confessional Caption – Willow – Software Startup Owner
“I was aiming for Faith’s tile since she had two left but being a big spaz, I hit one of Tara’s. I felt rotten.”

Kendra shoots next and is obviously aiming for Tara’s tile but since the blonde’s row is on the end, a miss results in her scoring nothing. Faith’s true shot takes Kendra out of the game. “And Kendra is out,” Jeff calls.

“Returning the favor,” Jeff announces after Tara’s shot, “Willow loses her first tile.” Tara winks at the redhead as she hands her the slingshot. Apparently deciding to not retaliate, Willow’s shot knocks out one of Faith’s tiles leaving her only one. “Faith and Tara down to one tile each while Willow has two.”

“And Tara knocks off another of Willow’s tiles.” Apparently the blonde has decided to cut down the biggest threat rather than knocking Faith out of the competition. Willow barely glances at Faith’s remaining tiles, knocking Tara out of the game. The blonde takes a seat on the log as a look of realization crosses Willow’s face. “Willow looks like she just started doubting that move,” Jeff says.

“Let’s see if she regrets it,” Faith says as she lines up her shot and neatly hits Willow’s last tile, seeing her icon fall.

“And Faith wins reward!”

We see shots of Faith sitting at the table to look through the catalog and writing down a series of pages. Fortunately the Survivor challenge people have left a tape measure which she is using to assess her new sizes. Sitting next to her on the table is her icon. When the camera shifts to show the other four players returning to camp, we see that they have each brought their icons and are placing them around the camp.

Later that evening we see the Survivors eating their dinner of rice and fish. As they finish Kendra gets up and walks over to carve a line on a nearby tree trunk. “32 days down.”

“Between zero and seven to go,” Willow says. Everyone glances away at the statement as if afraid to wonder whether they have zero or seven days left. All five heads swivel up as they hear the sound of a small plane flying overhead.

“It’s your clothes,” Tara says grabbing Faith and shaking her lightly. The team runs down to the beach to watch as the plane circles and drops a plastic wrapped package into the shallow water. Faith doesn’t hesitate to run into the surf to retrieve it.

“Fashion show,” Robin suggests and everyone laughs.

Confessional Caption – Robin – High School Principal
“32 days on a desert island? If someone won a canvas sack and pink flip-flops we’d have a fashion show. Anything for a little entertainment. I mean how many times can you hear about how we all lost our virginity and our first cars?” He pauses and smiles. “Or maybe that’s only one story.”

“Woo hoo,” everyone calls and whistles as Faith emerges from the shelter wearing a new pair of workout shorts and a white sports bra.

“I got this one in purple too.”

“Fashion show, not fashion explanation,” Willow insists and moments later we see Faith showing off the purple sports bra also. She also parades out in another new pair of shorts, two new sleeveless T-shirts, and a sweatshirt.

“A-anything else?”

“These,” Faith retorts quickly and pulls down the final pair of shorts to show new underwear. The girls all tease about how badly they wish they had new underwear too. “That’s good,” Faith says as she pulls three two-packs of undies from the shelter and tosses them to Kendra, Tara, and Willow.

“What, no thongs?’

“Lands End doesn’t sell thongs,” Faith tells the redhead as she tosses a package to Robin.

“Thanks, Faith,” everyone exudes.

Confessional Caption – Faith – Personal Trainer
“I would certainly want new underwear. I mean I did. That’s why I bought some. And I got some for everyone partially to be nice. But also it can’t hurt. I mean they’re the jury or a big part of it and if I make it to the final two, I need the votes.” She winks at the camera. “I’m always thinking this game see.”

Day 33

“Final four gets decided today,” Kendra comments as the group eats a plantains and coconut.

“Unless they switch something up,” Willow says.

Confessional Caption – Kendra – Interpreter
“We got tree mail and it had a maze and puzzle thing on it which is fine with me. I don’t suck at puzzles and Willow is great. Our main alliance is the same: Tara, Faith, and me but we’re going to take the kid to the final four. As long as Robin doesn’t win immunity the plan is on. Of course Willow and Tara could completely screw us both but honestly, I just don’t believe Tara has it in her and Willow… That girl isn’t really thinking game thoughts right now.”

“So some kind of maze and puzzle,” Faith says as she hands around the poem.

Confessional Caption – Robin – High School Principal
“I’m thinking this is not good. Faith says she wants me in the final two but the other girls are not scrambling. Either she has them fooled or she’s playing me. I think I either win immunity tonight or I go home.”

Immunity Challenge
“Welcome, Survivors,” Jeff says as the five enter and take their places on the mat. “I’ll take the immunity necklace back, Faith.”

She hands it to him and he tells them, “The person who wins this challenge wins immunity and a guaranteed one in four chance at a million dollars.” He points behind him at a large multi-level structure. It is like a life-sized dollhouse with rooms and hallways but open on the front.

“Today’s challenge is a vertical maze,” he explains. “Each of you has been assigned a color for the challenge. In the maze are eight bags of puzzle pieces. You must navigate the maze and bring back the bags one by one. Once you have returned with all eight bags, you will build your puzzle and show me the completed picture. The first person to complete the puzzle wins immunity.”

Everyone lines up and at the starting line and Jeff shouts the traditional: “Survivors, Ready. Go!” They take off at a sprint with Robin and Kendra in the lead followed by Faith then Tara and Willow. The two fastest competitors enter the maze and begin climbing toward the third or highest level. The others break in different directions for their puzzle pieces. The action is somewhat confusing with five people running different ways through the maze but Jeff updates each time someone returns with a bag.

“Robin back with his first bag as is Faith.” Robin and Faith run back toward the maze as Willow and Kendra return with their first bags. “And finally Tara drops her bag as the others all work on getting their next.” It is apparent quickly that Robin has an advantage, particularly over Kendra and Willow who are having trouble climbing up each level due to their height. “Robin back again. And now Faith and Kendra back with their second bags.”

Willow retrieves a bag and climbs down through the maze, running into Tara on the way. Both girls briefly drop their pieces and pick up the other’s but hand them back and return with them. “Robin now back with his third bag as is Faith while Willow and Tara return with number two.” Jeff shouts to let the Survivors as well as the viewers know the status. “And now Kendra has another set of pieces.”

“Robin running on adrenaline or perhaps desperation, and he’s returning with his fourth bag. Half done.” Faith climbs carefully showing the toll the challenge is taking and Willow and Tara are also moving slowly as they jog back with their third bags. “Willow’s third bag is back followed by Tara’s.” Kendra gets her fourth bag and makes it back to her table with them but is obviously winded. “Kendra back with number four but Robin is leaving the maze with his fifth bag,” Jeff calls. “Retrieving a close bag,” Jeff shouts, “Willow making progress on Faith’s lead as she’s back with number four.”

Robin continues to show his conditioning and the advantage he has because of his height. “Robin back with his sixth bag. We’ll see if his lead will hold.” Kendra and Faith have both put down their fifth bags but Willow is struggling getting to the top of the maze. “And Tara finally returns with number four.”.

By the time Willow leaves the maze with her fifth bag, Robin has placed his seventh bag. “And Robin scanning the maze trying to spot his last bag of puzzle pieces,” Jeff shouts. “Faith back with number six but Kendra is tiring.” He has stopped even describing Tara’s exhausted progress. “Willow entering the maze again, her effort making me think she’s worried about leaving tonight.”

“And Robin running back with his final bag. He has all eight bags and is dumping the pieces on the ground.” We see Robin beginning to work on his puzzle as Faith runs back to the maze to get her last bag. “Faith working to get her final bag and Willow still running strong to get her seventh.” Willow leaves the maze with her seventh bag as Faith dumps out all her pieces. “Willow running back to the maze as Faith starts her puzzle. Robin making short work of the puzzle!” We see a grimace on Willow’s face as she tries to run faster.

“Robin’s puzzle is almost complete,” Jeff shouts, “and he’s done! Immunity tonight for Robin!” The others collapse where they are and gulp mouthfuls of air.

Confessional Caption – Willow – Software Startup Owner
“When I first saw the tree mail I was feeling pretty good. I mean a maze and a puzzle? Tailor made for Willow Rosenberg, right? But all the running and I just couldn’t reach the levels very well. I don’t think it would have mattered if Faith had gotten immunity but now Robin has it. I don’t know if I can pull a rabbit out of my hat.”

We see Willow approaching Robin as he breaks up firewood. “Good challenge today.”

“Thanks,” Robin answers, “I needed it.”

“We both did,” Willow says. Desperation is obvious in her voice as she tells him, “Faith is simply too strong at this point.”

“You’d have to get one of the others to vote against her.”

“You think I can’t?” She nods down the beach to where Tara is picking berries.

“I’ll consider it.”

Confessional Caption – Robin – High School Principal
“I’m not going to be stupid but if we can seriously get Faith out of this game, we’ve got to. But I’m not burning that bridge without Tara’s word either.” He smiles slyly. “Although something tells me Willow might be able to convince Tara.”

Faith approaches Tara where the blonde is picking berries. “Hey.”

“H-hey,” Tara answers as she continues her work.

Faith shrugs over her shoulder at Robin and Willow talking. “She’s telling him that the three of you can get rid of me.”

“I know.”.

“And?”

“I m-made an alliance our second day,” Tara says as she looks Faith in the eye. “I’m going to s-s-stick by it.” We can see that there are tears glistening in her eyes.

“Thanks,” Faith says shaking Tara’s hand. “Can I ask you something, T?” Tara nods and swallows heavily. “Is it just an island thing or do the two of you really have something?”

Tara looks at Faith, then down the beach at Willow, then back to Faith. “You know my vote.” She says the final word with emotion breaking her voice before handing the berries to Faith and running into the woods.

A while later we see Kendra, Faith, and Robin eating rice around the fire. “They’ve been gone a while,” Kendra remarks. The camera pans to show Tara and Willow emerging from the wood walking near each other but not touching.

Tribal Council
“Welcome.” Jeff greets the Survivors. Everyone takes their seats and then Jeff calls in the jury who all enter looking tan and relaxed. As the newest member of the jury, Buffy wears a mini-skirt and has her hair loose over her shoulders. Jeff starts right in on his questions. “Robin, you won immunity today. Do you think you needed it?”

“I can’t say whether I was going home tonight without it but now I don’t need to know.”

“Do you think it puts you in a position of power?” Jeff asks. “If there was a 2-2 split, you’d be the swing vote.”

“Anyone would be a swing vote in a 2-2.”

“Kendra, what are you basing your vote on tonight?”

“A promise.”

“Willow,” Jeff says, “what about you?”

“Jeff, I’m voting tonight against the most dangerous person here. Someone who has run and manipulated the game and who I believe will win unless they go home tonight.” Faith looks admiringly at the redhead’s honesty but she also looks at the others to see how they took the redhead’s speech.

“Faith, you didn’t look thrilled as Willow was answering the question.”

“Willow has her own agenda, Jeff. She’s desperate to stay here and she’ll say anything hoping that she can turn someone to her way of thinking.”

“Tara, is that true or does Willow have a point?”

“Everyone w-wants to s-stay,” Tara says quietly, chewing on her fingernail as she speaks before tucking her fingertips under her leg.

“Ok, Robin you have immunity and a guaranteed spot in the final four unless you want to give away your immunity.” Robin keeps the necklace and Jeff sends the Survivors to vote.

Robin votes first followed by Faith. “Willow,” the dark-haired girl says, “you’re a great player but I made an early alliance and I’m sticking with it.”

Confessional Caption – Faith – Personal Trainer
“Man. I’ll tell you this. If Tara votes me out, that’s it. Game over for Faith and I say ‘well done.’ Because I didn’t see it coming at all.”

Kendra and Tara vote and finally Willow. She holds up her vote for Faith: “Faith, you’re the best player here. I hope someone else sees that.”

“I’ll tally the votes,” Jeff says. He brings back the container of votes. “Once the votes have been read the decision is final.” The camera pans over the survivors. Robin looks relaxed as does Kendra. Faith and Willow are sitting on the edge of their seats and Tara is looking at her feet.

“First vote: Willow,” Jeff reads. “Second vote: Willow.” He recounts: “That’s two votes Willow.” He pulls another vote: “Third vote: Faith. That’s two votes Willow, one vote Faith.” He pulls the next vote and looks at it for a few seconds before announcing: “And the 12th person voted off Survivor – Ash Island is Willow.”

Willow reaches down to pick up her icon from the game earlier. She leans forward and kisses a crying Tara on the cheek and then walks over to Jeff. “The tribe has spoken,” he announces as he snuffs her fire and she leaves down the path. Jeff sends the Survivors back to camp with the announcement that they are the final four.

We see the recount of votes and see that the tally would have been 4-1 if it had gone that far. Tara was crying as she showed her vote and blew a kiss at the camera.

Parting Words
“I made it 33 days on an island and I don’t even camp. This was an incredible experience and I don’t think it’s over.” A smile expands across her face. “Tara, I’ll be looking forward to the premiere.”

This Sunday night on Survivor – Ash Island
“The game started with 16 castaways.” Shots of the boats racing toward the island and people hanging from the sides.

“Now it’s down to four:” Still shots of Robin, Tara, Kendra, and Faith float up and then snap into place on the screen in a square.

“Who will win?” Quick shots of the remaining survivors in various challenges.

“Find out on the Survivor two hour special this Sunday. And immediately following that, see the Survivor reunion show to discover who is the Ultimate Survivor and catch up with your favorites.”

I haven't update in quite a while.. it's not because I wasn't reading..

But I gotta say this update tokk me by surprise. I always figured Will and Tara would be the final 2, but I guess this makes more sense. Tara had to stick with her original alliance but it probably broke her heart to vote for Willow.. I hope we can see more about her inner feelings later.

Still so addicted to this fic, just as much as I am to the show ;)

AAAHHH!!! I am so excited! Two-hour special!!!! :applause :bounce :party :-D Hehe.

She leans forward and kisses a crying Tara on the cheek and then walks over to Jeff.

Aww, that was a sweet "I'm not going to see you for a few months" sort of action, as was this:
Tara was crying as she showed her vote and blew a kiss at the camera.

They are just so cute, I can't handle it!

I think it was good that you sent Willow home this time, whithout making it to the final four. It just seems more realistic that way (if realism was EVER a goal for any kitten, I'll be surprised). But it does seem more realistic.

Yay for the next update... Real time?

-Alyssa

P.S. I finally finished W/T Season 3, Y'all!!!!! Yay! Excellent! I will leave you lots of feedback over there pretty soon. I know it doesn't really matter that much anymore, but I will do it for kicks. And I am double excited 'cause now I can read Paths! Yay! :-D

:aww Poor Willow, scuttled by a challenge. She really was on a knife-edge there - in the final four I think she'd have had a chance, with all alliances being up for grabs, and against Robin I'd have given her a 50/50 chance, but from the moment he got immunity it was really all over for Willow.

I'll be really interested to see Willow and Tara (present-day) reacting to seeing the events of this episode over again. Obviously they've gone and fallen in love regardless :x but this must've been a difficult situation for them. For Tara to have to vote against Willow - not because Faith told her to, but because I think she felt it was the right thing to do to stay true to their alliance, and perhaps because she knew she couldn't save Willow regardless - a 4-1 vote couldn't have been swayed anyway. But, to me at least, it was a matter of honour as well as survival.

I'm curious about what happened on Willow and Tara's long conversation - there's lots of topics for discussion there :D Their performance in the slingshot task for one, Willow obviously not thinking before knocking Tara out of the game - I think Faith was right, Willow's head wasn't really 100% in the Survivor game, and there, while she was having a playful contest with Tara, she hadn't considered the consequences gamewise. Tara replied in kind of course. That all may have added more tension between them as they discussed the upcoming vote. But you know, I wonder if Tara perhaps just told Willow the straight truth when they talked, that she was going to vote with Faith and Kendra? At any rate, I think it's obvious from their parting moment and Willow's post-vote interview (not to mention the whole living together thing :eyebrow ) that they both knew that what they did in the game, no matter how upsetting, was just a game, and they owed it to themselves to play the game properly, not half-heartedly out of fear that the other would take it too personally.

As I said, it'll be really interesting to see them revisit these moments and discuss them, with the benefit of hindsight and perspective. And I'd be interested to see how Ariel reacts, and how they explain it to her.

Definitely a very good day for Robin - at the beginning of the episode I wouldn't have given much odds for his survival, but he's an outside chance to win now - Faith, Kendra and Tara could team up to get rid of him at the next vote, but will they? He's a wild card, and wild cards can be tempting now that there's so few hands left to play. Is there still the possibility of immunity in the final rounds? That could go one way or the other - either to Robin's benefit because of his proficiency at physical tasks (and he's no puzzle slouch), or it could sink him for exactly that reason, as his proficiency makes him a big target.

My arcane and nonsensical calculations at the moment have Faith with a slight edge, with Robin and Tara following - interestingly I don't have a scenario in which Kendra ends up on top, but perhaps it's just that underestimation that'll give her the opportunity to make a move. I do think she's at a disadvantage with the jury though - with the exception of Faith and Tara, Kendra doesn't seem to have had much of a presence with the other survivors, which could cheat her of the "She's cool" votes. Tara could get jury votes for being so helpful and likeable, Faith gets respect for sticking to her guns and being the unstoppable amazon girl... I'm not sure whether Kendra could take either of them in a jury vote, even if her apparent lay-low, strike-suddenly strategy pays off and gets her to the final two.

Loved the Brady Bunch theme :lmao

man that sucks! it just plan sucks! Faith i could see being all back stabbing, but not Tara!!!! and Robin and Kendra for making her choose, so uncool! by this stage in the game Tara should have gotten her head out of the sand and starting thinking for herself, not following through with words shared way back in the begining and most especailly when it ment loosing her biggest alley to the most dangerious player!!!! still, i really really hope Tara takes it all, cuz after this, cuz if faith get's it i don't care if she is just a character, i'll personally kick her ass! man i knew last update that willow was going but i was hoping i just read the signs wrong. i've never been so bummed for being right in my life!!!

I really liked the update. Given who the players were, it was bound to come down to a Robin vs. Willow scenario, which I thought you handled very well, combining both their strong points (physical and mental dexterty) in a task (although it seems this puzzle was easier than the rest).

After Robin won the inmunity, I had no doubt Tara was going to vote for Willow. It just seems to me that going against her word by voting for anyone she had a standing alliance with would be completely out of character.

I would've liked to see Willow stay some more time on the island, but I'm happy with the way it turned out. It seemd natural and realistic, not forced at all.

From the conversation in the restaurant on the last part, I would think Tara gets as far as the final two. The girls had a very successful alliance, but I think that from now on the tasks will play the bigger role on defining who stays and who leaves.

Allysa's post reminded me about your other stories (which I hadn't realised were yours!). I readed them a long time ago and enjoyed them very much, I'll try to leave feedback there too, you certainly deserve it.

Wonderful update!

Have to go to work now, more feedback later! Promise!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now is later and here is the promised feedback:
I'm a little sad, that I was right. Robin got immunity and Willow is voted off...
The talk in the woods will most probably have been very intense for our two favourite girls.
Well, here is a thought. Now we're in the final four and all alliances are done, right?
So, if Tara is voted off next, our girls would have some qualitytime at this juror-camp-thingy. Six day, I guess...
But that's just a thought, I want Tara to win!!!
I think Faith's question was very sweet, she may play the hart nut, but she really likes Tara and Willow (What we already know)
“What, no thongs?’
“Lands End doesn’t sell thongs,” Faith tells the redhead as she tosses a package to Robin.
So, hence the birthdaypresent, huh??
“Ok,” Tara said as she took the package of silk thongs from her lover and shoved them into her purse. “We’ll just o-open that one later I think.”
“You were the one who asked,” Faith smirked.
*rofl*
Really good one, Debra!!!
And now again a whole week without an update *sigh*
Oh wow Willow got voted off. When I was coming to that realization I was like Oh my god Willow is being voted off. I would've loved to know exactly what Willow & Tara were thinking at that time. It must have been so hard for Tara to write Willow's name down. Voting Willow out now was a great move. I can't wait to see who ends up the survivor. My money is on Faith.
As soon as Robin got all his puzzle and Willow only had six I thought, uh oh she's not getting Immunity and she's going home tonight. F/K/T was too strong and I really felt for Tara there knowing she'll have to vote Willow off.
Willow… That girl isn’t really thinking game thoughts
and
“Is it just an island thing or do the two of you really have something?”
and
[Willow] leans forward and kisses a crying Tara on the cheek
Yes we are privy to the future so we know. Even if we didn't see the real life parts, even if this wasn't the kittenboard, there is no doubt that those two have fallen in love.
Was part of their strained talk in the woods about not seeing each other for 3 months? That they'd spend some cooling-off time to see if they feel the same way? If so, then bravo for inspired and logical thoughts.
I'm sad Willow is gone of course, but F4 is very interesting, and I can't wait for the 2 hour special!
Well, I wasn't expecting that - you surprised me! I thought for sure that Willow and Tara would be in the final four together, and maybe even the final two. But it does make sense, and Tara kept her word, and I think she's the dark horse to win it all because everybody likes her and she's not as big a threat as Robin.
I am guessing that Willow and Tara in the woods were talking about not seeing each other until the premiere and not so much about the votes? I wonder - would Willow try to influence Tara's vote, really, or would she be more concerned about seeing Tara afterward? I imagine that Tara would feel pretty crappy if she broke her alliance, and might hold it against Willow later if Willow had convinced her to do so.
Do we ever get to 'see' the conversation they had? :)
I wonder what Ariel's reaction will be knowing that Tara voted off Willow. I'm sure somehow she will understand, and probably Willow will explain really well and make it all right.
Great update. I really do enjoy this fic. As sad as it is to see W/T apart, it was the right choice. You've created an honorable Tara in this fic, someone that makes those very hard decisions. You wrote the scenes so well. Not only can I visualize the scene, I can also feel the emotion of the characters. Wonderful!
I look forward to more. I'm sure that most of the readers could handle about 10 or 20 chapters after the season finale. :D
Hello, :wave
I'm not a reality TV fan, but I've been reading this story since the beginning. Sorry didn't leave feedback before.
Today, I feel the need to let you know I love your writing, and the way you describe all scenes, this story in particular because of the two timelines, and how after each update everything falls into place, at least for me.
I knew Willow was out next, still sad though. :cry I'd like to know what she and Tara talked about when they went into the woods, I'm sure they'll discuss it, and they have to explain what happened to Ariel (she's great), as Willow said during her birthday party, Ariel did the math and Ariel clearly expressed that she didn't want any of the girls to be voted off. I think next update will be very intense; I really look forward to reading it.
As of what's left on the island, I hope Robin doesn't win any immunity challenges; he's a real thread. Faith always thinking about the game, but she's concerned that Tara & Willow really have something, she cares more about them than what she shows during the show. Kendra, she's an ally but I don't think she'll make it to the final. Tara, well a woman who knows how to keep a promise and be true to her word even when her heart is hurting, what an extraordinary being. The next days won't be so happy for her on the island, but she's strong and she'll see Willow on the next tribal council, maybe there'll be a minute for them to say hi?
Well, thank you very much for sharing this wonderful story with us.
Take good care of yourself and your gorgeous son.
Love,
Clau
Ugh...how freakin' cute are those two?! I had a feeling that Willow wasn't going to make it to the final 4, and I guess my feeling was right...it's good to see that there were no hard feelings between everyone though.
Hi Debra - So my girl is out of the running but my second favourite is still in there so I'm happy. I loved that it upset Tara to vote Willow off the Island but admire that she has stuck with the alliance. I think that there was a conversation between Tara and Willow in the woods - I'd have been interested to hear it! More please.
I told my boy you said "Hi" - he grunted at me. Well, he is nearly nineteen - what more can you expect from a teenager.
Debra, I loved it. I knew Willow was going and then when I saw that immunity was based on a puzzle I got very confused as I figured, Willow can win at any puzzle game. It was great, it felt real and for Tara to stay true to that alliance will win her big points with the jury. I am still going for Kendra and Tara for F2.
Absolutely brilliant!
While I expected Willow to make the final four at least, I can see how that would be awkward. After all, if she hadn't gotten voted off now, it inevitably would have wound up a 2-2 split for voting and a total stalemate in the next part.
Good to see there aren't any hard feelings between them. Willow understands and respects Tara's honesty and loyalty, and it doesn't seem like she really expected to stick around once Robin got immunity. Tara's letting everyone know that she didn't want to vote Willow off, but she kind of had to.
Can't wait for the next bit, I'm looking seriously forward to finding out who the final two are - right now I'm suspecting T/F or T/R - and getting some more juicy after-show bits between W/T. Yay!
*stumbles onto the thread and falls in a heap on the floor*
OH! I feel like I've just been through one of the challenges! Exhausted, yet incredibly satisfied at having completed it.
Yes, I read this in one shot...from beginning to end. Whew! What a ride!
This has truly clinched it...Debra...you ARE Elvis!! (Do you walk around TX wearing a white leather jumpsuit?)
I admit it...it took me a while to get to this. Debra, I love your writing...I've devoured everything you've written. But, my true lack of affinity for the Survivor series kept me from this fic...until now. I'm not saying I've turned into a Survivor fan and will be recording weekly episodes. Hell, I don't watch anything on TV anymore. But I'm darn tootin' gonna be going through withdrawals until I find out who won. :)
As always, you've created a well written, totally engrossing tale. I felt so bad...my two best friends each called me tonight to chat and I pretty much hurried them off the phone so that I could get back to my reading. Thank goodness for happy hour! I'll get to catch up then.
So, yes...watson and Cam finally won out and I'm now completely caught up with Ash Island. I'm all addicted and stuff. So, here's to the next episode! WOOT!!
so for a change my good guess was also an accurate guess. i was sure it was going to robin with immunity and goodbye willow, until you did a bit of a mislead with the puzzle challenge, cause willow's won all of those so far, right? but puzzle component wasn't enought to save her. really, willow's only chance to make final four would've been to re-align with buffy when she had the chance, once it got down to these particular five, her fate was sealed.
i'm guessing at some point during willow and tara's talk lies the reason why willow waited to contact tara, and since that wouldn't have made the broadcast, we have to wait to see it, very much looking forward to that. suprised we didn't get willow on the early show, i'm sure she was charming, though.
robin's going to need another dose of immunity to make final three, but i don't think he's going to get it. i think when you rolled those dice at the beginning ( could be your tag line to this fic "god doesn't roll dice, but debra does" ) that your final 2 came out of f/t/k, and you built their alliance around that.i know, i know, good guess.
Firstly thanks for your comments RE Tod,Tol. I'm glad that you're enjoying it.
That was a great update. I have to say I was sort of expecting Willow to be the one who got voted off, especially when Robin won the immunity challenge.
The other revelation was, we found out why Faith bought Willow the thongs for her birthday. I guess given Willow's comment in this episode, she's got no one to blame but herself.
And the two hour special sounds interesting. I'm looking forwards to reading that.
Wow. I had a bad feeling as soon as it was a vertical puzzle challenge, knowing that Robin and Faith would have the advantage strength-wise. I'm sad to see Tara have to vote out Willow, but she would remain true to her word. It just about broke my heart when Willow kissed Tara on the cheek as she left the Tribal Council. I'm looking forward to seeing the in between bits. I wonder how Ariel is going to react to Tara voting off Willow. Hmm.... Still, great update.
Nooooooo....nooooo.....dammit!!!! I thought maybe there'd be a shot even though Robin got the immunity idol...but then when Tara was all 'must be true to my pact' it was all downhill from there. *sigh*
I'll certainly admit that I was on the edge of my seat and that there was no :dance going on as I was very nervous and then sad that my favorite got the boot. *sigh* Oh well...At least Tara is still there...those damn immunity challenges screw up EVERYTHING!!!! Are there still immunity challeges with four to go? Cause...if Robin picks up the next immunity again...there goes the final three pact...how does that work? Maybe a tie and then they do the rock thing...but the rock thing is only between the three that don't have immunity....dah...gah...shoot...I DON'T KNOW!!!! *shakes head* this is rediculous, mind you...I don't even like reality shows!!! *blinks* very well done.
Willster – First response. Good for you. Don’t worry about if you don’t get to feedback every time. That’s ok. I’m glad you’re enjoying the story.
I always figured Will and Tara would be the final 2,
Honestly, I feel like that would be a little too magic wand. You know what I mean? That they’d be the best at Survivor and fall in love and all that? Just a bit too perfect. I hope this is a little more realistic (because obviously reality is so darn important to me – snerk).
I think you are exactly right; it was very hard for Tara to vote off (basically) her girlfriend but she stayed loyal to her original alliance. We will see somewhat about what was going on with them. Thanks for your comments.
watersong84 -
I am so excited! Two-hour special!!!!
See the FAQ about the two-hour special. Yeah, Willow knew it was coming and really at that point, if she couldn’t stay in the game, Tara was all that was important to her. I completely agree with you about not putting Willow into the final four. I think that would be just too darn predictable. As you say, what realism?
Yes, Real time update next.
P.S. I finally finished W/T Season 3, Y'all!!!!! Yay! Excellent! I will leave you lots of feedback over there pretty soon. I know it doesn't really matter that much anymore, but I will do it for kicks. And I am double excited 'cause now I can read Paths! Yay!
Yay for you. I’m thrilled that you’re reading my old stuff. And especially thrilled that you’re going to read Paths next. Like I said (exhaustively now), it is my favorite of my stories and the one I consider the most well written in places. Enjoy it.
Artemis – Hey Chris. I agree. Willow had no chance without immunity in this one. Her only prayers were 1.Win immunity or 2.Have everyone else realize how dangerous Faith is.
I'll be really interested to see Willow and Tara (present-day) reacting to seeing the events of this episode over again.
As a bit of spoiler I will say that the next update starts about 1 second after the end of this episode broadcast. My point: yes, it will be covered to some extent how everyone reacts in real life to the events.
I absolutely agree that Tara voted the way she did because she believed it was right and probably a bit because it was her game to do so. Much as Faith believes she’s running the game (and everyone else seems to agree), I’m not sure that Tara has ever done anything she agrees with. I think that for Tara it happens that the game Faith is playing is compatible with hers.
There are definitely a lot of topics of conversation for W/T’s time in the woods. Unfortunately CBS has chosen to edit that entire section of “reality” out of their show so now it is lost to posterity. Darn that CBS.
Willow’s slingshot move was stupid. When you are playing a game taking turns, if you knock out #2, #3 goes next and #3 will definitely take you out. She should have knocked off one of Faith’s tiles and let Tara choose who to take out next. Then the remaining person would have taken Tara out and that person would win. But Willow didn’t reason it out well. I don’t believe however, that the events in that very light game led to any hard feelings where the IC, TC, and vote were concerned.
I agree that Robin had a very good day. I think he knew that unless he won immunity, he would be voted off no matter what Faith was telling him. And I agree with you about his danger; Faith would definitely see him as a physical threat and she really doesn’t need another physical threat in addition to Kendra. You might notice that when there is a physical challenge the players basically usually go: Robin, Kendra, Buffy, Faith and then down the line.
interestingly I don't have a scenario in which Kendra ends up on top,
Very interesting. I would say that Kendra’s best chance is that she can be seen as being like Faith but not so sneaky and evil.
Loved the Brady Bunch theme
I kind of expected Watson to comment on it since she prides herself on reading the disclaimers. Glad you noticed.
WolfNightwind – Hmm. Sorry about that. I wouldn’t necessarily consider it backstabbing though. I mean Tara’s been pretty straightforward about where her primary alliance lies. And
by this stage in the game Tara should have gotten her head out of the sand and starting thinking for herself, not following through with words shared way back in the begining and most especailly when it ment loosing her biggest alley to the most dangerious player!!!!
A very good point though in that Faith is definitely the most dangerous player at this point. Sorry to bum you. Thanks for reading and commenting.
TinyAnt – Welcome. :wave Thanks. I agree that it would have to be Robin vs. Willow which means that she needed immunity or she’s going home. The puzzle was somewhat easier because it was primarily a physical challenge.
I had no doubt Tara was going to vote for Willow. It just seems to me that going against her word by voting for anyone she had a standing alliance with would be completely out of character.
Thanks. That’s one of the things I was really committed to: that this Tara would not go back on her word no matter how strongly she felt about Willow. Thank you for your thoughts on it seeming natural.
You are right that for the final four, the tasks are virtually everything. Consider that the person who wins the final IC gets to choose their opponent in the F2. That’s pretty darn important.
Allysa's post reminded me about your other stories (which I hadn't realised were yours!). I readed them a long time ago and enjoyed them very much, I'll try to leave feedback there too, you certainly deserve it.
Thank you so much. The completed fic archive on the old board had a listing by author and links to all the completed fics for an author. I don’t know if they are updated yet because the mods are wonderful fantastic people who are very busy.
What I can think of is (approximately in the order I wrote them):
Two Days
Turned
W/T Season 3 Y’all
Paths Diverged/Divulged
School Days
Holiday Cheer
Please: The Series
Shadow and Sunlight (in Fic Challenge #1)
For Kicks (in Fic. Challenge #2)
Insanity – Hey there. Thanks. Ok, waiting for more feedback.
Irene73 – Hey there. The family is great and I’m getting to spend more time with Asher than ever before. 94 degree weather is nothing here. I think it was 99 yesterday and probably will hit 100 this week. We’re pretty used to it and 94 doesn’t even really seem noticeable (yes, 99 and 100 do).
Sorry to surprise you.
she really believed Tara would follow her lead and vote Faith out.
I don’t necessarily agree with you there. I think that Willow hoped or prayed but didn’t really believe that would happen. She was being desperate and trying to stay in the game and more importantly, stay on the Island with Tara.
We’ll see about Willow’s sadness or any other emotion in the next update. Nice prediction. Thank you. I’m glad that it’s so well received.
cperrins78 – I agree that it was hard for Tara to write down Willow’s name. But that was her game all throughout so she needed to keep. Good guesses.
Watson – Look at you all sassy eggs. Glad you liked all those touches. I agree that the direction this was going on the island was very good for the girls.
Was part of their strained talk in the woods about not seeing each other for 3 months?
See the brand spanking new FAQS. No, not that kind of spanking.
Thanks.
PS. You mentioned neither the Brady Bunch disclaimer nor the 2nd title in the update thread. I’m kind of disappointed in you. :grin
SallyMcFine – Sorry, or maybe glad to surprise you. I’m glad to keep the kittens thinking and guessing. I agree about Tara’s chances and her integrity.
I think that Willow would be interested in both the vote and seeing Tara. Good question about Ariel and that will definitely come up in the next update. Thanks.
Urn of Osiris – I’m so glad you’re enjoying it. I agree that it was the right thing for Tara to do. Cool that you can visualize the scene and the emotion behind it.
I'm sure that most of the readers could handle about 10 or 20 chapters after the season finale.
. Thank you and lol. There aren’t that many left. I’m a little sad about it but the timing is good too. Thanks.
dragonfly – Welcome! :wave I’m honored to be the recipient of your second post. And again we have an addition to the not a fan of reality TV but love this story group. I must say that I find it extremely flattering the number of kittens who have given this story a chance even though they don’t like reality TV. Thank you.
I love your writing, and the way you describe all scenes, this story in particular because of the two timelines, and how after each update everything falls into place, at least for me.
Thank you so much. If you’ve read all the fb and comments, you know that I didn’t initially plan the dual updates but I am very thankful for the inspiration. I feel that it makes this a much more full-bodied story and the response certainly supports it.
I agree that we can expect Ariel to be upset about this turn of events. To her mind’s planning it is obvious: the F3 should be Faith, Tara, and Willow. The F2: Tara & Willow. And Tara should win. But things aren’t always as simple as a child plans it.
You are right that Robin is a definite threat. And yes, you notice that Faith, while she’s trying to win, also has some humanity about her. She definitely gets the W/T thing. While she doesn’t understand the relationship between Tara & Kent, she understands that Tara seems to really care for Willow. And yes, Tara is true to her word even at the expense of possibly losing Willow.
maybe there'll be a minute for them to say hi?
Sorry to say there is never time for that on Survivor. Or if there is, CBS edits it out. You are very welcome for the story and thanks for the wishes for my family. Again, welcome.
willowtree114 – Thanks so much. I’m glad you liked it even though Willow got voted off. Everyone wants to know about the woods…
stillrunning – Yeah, I’d agree. There are no hard feelings right now based on the birthday party. They are pretty cute, I agree. Thanks.
caz – Your second fav = Tara? I can’t remember but yes, Willow is out of it although she came away with a new car & Tara so I’d say it was a good game for her. I definitely think it would upset Tara to vote off Willow and am glad that you respect her decision.
Lol about your son. If I tell Asher someone says hi he’ll probably smile and wave and say hi back. But sometimes he waits a minute or five.
DarkWiccan – Hey there. Didn’t even remember that you were reading this but always glad to see feedback from you. Lol about your reaction. Thanks.
cooper – Lol about your confusion. On Survivor they frequently do this thing where it is mostly physical and they throw a puzzle at the end. That’s kind of what this was. Good guesses/thoughts on the F2.
Naeryn – Hey there. I don’t think I’ve seen feedback from you before although I’ve seen your name on the board. :wave Sorry to disappoint about Willow not making F4. I think that if Willow had made the F4, it would have made Tara and Willow a little too much of a threat for the others so I actually think Tara is better off without her there (gamewise).
Willow definitely understands why Tara did what she did and she respects it too. Good guesses on the F2. Definitely some juicy in the next one.
Majikbutch - :wave Welcome! :flowers Your first post! I’m chuffed (see I can speak foreign languages). Yay for another reality show hater who loves this fic. Glad to see you. Thanks for reading. Thanks and sorry for the suspense (not that sorry).
GayNow
I admit it...it took me a while to get to this.
What? How appalling? You dedicated a fic challenge to my writing and hadn’t even read my latest masterpiece? (read the overarching modesty there – snerk).
I can imagine that reading it all at one go would be kind of tiring, especially with the breakneck speed of coniving/challenges to falling in love parts.
you ARE Elvis!!
I’ve wondered if I should ask a moderator to change my screen name.
(Do you walk around TX wearing a white leather jumpsuit?)
Now I know you haven’t been reading the conversation in my thread. Do you understand how hot 99degrees is? And that’s pretty much every day here. Asher and I were out this morning at 9:00 and it was about 93. I took a shower, then played with the baby, then took a shower to go to work.
Anyway, I will say that I think that at this point you are in the majority with your attitude toward Survivor but your reluctant and enthusiastic acceptance of this fic. Anyway, I’m glad that you’ve joined the happy converts.
Sorry to your friends but you had a good excuse. Thank you so much for your comments and thanks to Watson and Cam for convincing you to come over and join the rest of us.
PS. I actually pulled up Chat Saturday night but I didn’t recognize anyone in there. Can’t say I never come by though…
meretricious – Not just good but accurate too? My kind of woman. Tee hee. Honestly I didn’t expect the challenge to be a mislead but I definitely see it that way. The puzzle is kind of something to throw on the end and make the whole thing take longer. They actually did a challenge like this on the Survivor before Palau but it was more vertical than the one I “designed.” I agree that Willow’s best chance was back when she could have pulled Robin over for a B/J/R/W F4 lock in. But she hasn’t been thinking good strategy for a while.
suprised we didn't get willow on the early show, i'm sure she was charming, though.
Excellent point. We will see Willow on the early show. I’m posting the next chapters in chronological order including the early show. I think that may be inconsistent with an early update but in that case, I think the Early Show person is Willow and since she’s in the intervening update, it didn’t make sense to post them in that order. Hope that makes sense.
Good point about Robin and about the dice. Good guess! :rofl Definitely a cool fashion show.
that your final 2 came out of f/t/k, and you built their alliance around that
But let’s say that was true: 2 slayers and a witch make a pretty good alliance don’t you think?
Justin – You’re welcome. I’m way behind but still reading. Managed the time to read about 3 lines this morning (Amy is a big jerk!). Yes, I don’t think that Willow’s ouster came as a surprise to anyone.
The other revelation was, we found out why Faith bought Willow the thongs for her birthday. I guess given Willow's comment in this episode, she's got no one to blame but herself.
Finally someone noticed and commented! Thank you.
Thanks for your comments.
Willow~Rosenberg – I agree that Willow and Tara were at a severe disadvantage in this challenge. Especially compared with Robin, Faith, and Kendra? Get serious. In between bits up next. Thanks.
AnirtakE – I owe you ok? I’ll get back to your feedback.
*pouts* I DID notice the Brady Bunch theme but Chris already mentioned it so I decided not to be an echobunny . As for the update thread, I have a good excuse, when I got home I had an IM from Car that you'd updated and I could have my Ash Island fix, so I didn't go into the update thread. Yeah, yeah, excuses excuses .
Been thinking about votes at F2.
Robin - probably only has a chance against Kendra, depends on how they do at the juror questions stage, I think he has a slight edge over Kendra cos he did well on tasks and haven't antagonized anyone. Tara is too popular and Faith a genuinely strong competitor.
Kendra - similarly only has a chance against Robin, and even then Robin has a slight advantage. Is seen too much as hanging on Faith's coat-tails, her performance at the last two ICs will be key cos she definitely needs to show a personality. Against Tara or Faith I don't see a realistic chance.
Tara - should easily beat Robin or Kendra. Hasn't done as well in challenges but has been helpful and popular. Will definitely get Willow's vote though Buffy (and may be Joyce by association) may vote against her cos of jealousy over Willow's alliance. Doubt that her relationship with Willow will be a major factor with the jurors cos that didn't fully develop until later, like I said Buffy is probably the only one thinking along those lines. Against Faith, it's an even match. A strong Survivor against a popular one. In a F vs T showdown, the ultimate person who will benefit is Ariel, if Faith and Kent's relationship blossom and Faith wins, hopefully she'll share with Kent who will certainly spend it on his daughter. If Tara wins, well, Ariel will be a very lucky kid indeed. In my heart I'd like Tara to win but I think Faith's odds are shorter.
Faith - should hold off challenges from Robin and Kendra. She's played a good game, gotten into a tight alliance from day two, did well in tasks, though most people think of her as a threat, at the F2 stage, it's a different game. Against Tara, see above.
Now, I know what your reply is -- "good guess" . I'm probably way off target in my assessment anyway.
Do you understand how hot 99degrees is?
Oh, Hell Yeah! I lived in TX for 6 years....so I feel your pain. Trudging across campus in that kind of weather was never a fun thing. The year I lived in a house with no a/c (and now I have "A Horse with no Name" going through my head) was pure torture ... spent a lot of time in the library that year.
I can imagine that reading it all at one go would be kind of tiring, especially with the breakneck speed of coniving/challenges to falling in love parts.
Tiring, yes...but OH the adrenaline rush! Better than drugs (not that I would know that from first hand experience, but I kinda like the phrase). I had to play a computer game for about 45 minutes before I could get my mind to mellow out enough to go to sleep. :)
I actually pulled up Chat Saturday night but I didn’t recognize anyone in there.
Aaawwww Damn! One of the few nights I wasn't there. Piffle!
thanks to Watson and Cam for convincing you to come over and join the rest of us.
Yikes! Willow is gone.
I agree that it would have been too Disney to have Willow and Tara be the Final Two.
....but no more Willow snuggles to keep Tara warm at camp :happy
Since their will be a Sunday Finale, does that mean we're going to get the first hour of the 2-hour special on Sunday instead of Wednesday. Its only fair since we're not getting the 2-hour Finale in one post. :flirt
I love this fic.....you have a style that is so expressive, that I can almost imagine myself at the Survivor Camp.
*I said almost right?, because I enjoy taking showers!*
