debra, i remember you commenting earlier on that this fic doesn't get as much response as most of your fics usually do, i think it's holding it's own now though, isn't it?
really liked tara's elementary explanation of survivor, totally reminded me of george carlin's football vs.baseball routine (paraphrasing-in football the object is to win a war on a gridiron, in baseball the object is to go home and be safe). seems like this way instead of million dollars, survivors could just be happy with an "i'm a good camper" sticker.
yay for proactive relocating willow. seemed inevitable, of course, but still nice to see. although i did notice chapter was called "interview", i guess that applies to both sections of chapter, willow's officially on a trial run here isn't she? somehow i don't think she'll have any trouble acing this one~mary

Heya Debra - Nice update! Tara using a blowtorch - that is a very good thing to imagine :-D . And I think that Willow definately has the right idea, moving some of her stuff so she can be closer to Tara (and Tara's blowtorch :applause). I'm really excited to finally see them watch an episode together. Hilarity is bound to ensue.

Just wanted to say I still REALLY REALLY love this story!

Yeay for Willow staying for a while at the house with the girls! Ariel really likes her.. and of course Tara does :-P

I really don't have a guess for the final four... I always tried to guess in the real show and I always got it wrong hahaha. But I definately love the show, and I do think your story has the real thing beat ;)

Can't wait to read more!! :D

*sigh!*

Now I have to wait untill the next update to read this. I've been reading this instead of doing my hmwk for school. Really shouldnt but...did. Love the relationship between Ariel and Tara. Any story with Tara as a mother makes me all 'awwwwh' like. Well, keep up the great work and hopefully will be back soon!

I'm such a bum. I've been reading along the whole time, but haven't taken a few minutes to leave feedback. I apologize for my appalling laziness. I have to admit, I've never seen an episode of Survivor or any reality show for that matter. I don't even have a TV at the moment. :geek I'm really enjoying this even though I had to look up some of the Survivor terminology. ("What's a buff? Ooooooh...") What I like best is the mix of the show and the chapters about their lives post-show. If it was just one show episode after another, I might find it hard to follow and of course, we wouldn't get that inside look at W/T goodness. I was heartily glad to see the merge happen.:lol I had a list with everyone on each team and was crossing them off as they were eliminated! It's just a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to your next update!

Note – Sorry it took me a while to reply. I love the feedback and very much appreciate it. We went out of town for 5 days to complete insanity and I’ve had about 2 minutes to look at the board and no time to write while we were gone. Sorry for the delay.

FAQ’S Ok. I probably should have posted this long before this. But I guess better late than never.

Challenges (Reward and Immunity) will continue as usual until the 13th person is voted off (5th Jury member). At that point we have that final four. That show is broadcast on Thursday night. The following Sunday night the “finale” is broadcast. During the first two hours there are two Immunity Challenges (but no reward challenges). The remaining four vote off juror #6. Then the final three compete for Immunity. The person who wins immunity votes off juror #7 (thus picking their final two competitor). The final 2 spend one more night and day at the camp. Then they come back to the tribal council.

At that tribal council, the final 2 make some speeches. Each juror can either berate them or ask a question. Then the jurors vote. That part is all taped from before they left the island and it ends the 2 hours.

Then we see the jury and the final 2 sitting on a stage in a fake tribal council setup. The broadcast is now live and they have all just watched the first two televised hours. Jeff reads the votes and announces the winner. Sometimes they ask who voted for who and sometimes he doesn’t.

After all the hoopla and celebration is over, he calls the other Survivors (who didn’t even make the jury) onto the stage and they all sit around and kibitz for an hour live.

FAQ: Is Willow driving her new car to meet Tara?

My guess is that they can’t actually get the truck until that episode has aired. Otherwise, their friends and family would know that they won the truck and thus would know that they made it at least that far in the game. Plus which, don’t you figure that CBS and Chevy would like to do a little publicity over the trucks? So no, she drove from Atlanta to Columbus in her Honda. Her plan is to take one vehicle back to Georgia, that way if she’s going to have two home bases she can have two vehicles also for a while.

FAQ: When will the next update be posted? Do you always post on Wednesdays? What time?

I have definitely been posting on Wednesdays so far. I can’t promise that that will remain consistent from here out. My new work/child care schedule has be far more busy than I was in the past. That said, I have written the next 4-5 updates (rough draft) so I just need to have the time to edit and finalize them to get them posted. I will continue to try for Wednesday updates throughout.

Is Tara going to win? Are Tara and Kendra the final two? Who is the next off? Etc. and the like.

As metricious points out, my answer is “good guesses.”

Will the “two-hour special” be one big, huge, giant update?
Alas no. The updates will still cover basically an hour of show time. So the two-hour special will be drawn out over a few weeks of posting time.

What happened in the woods? What did they say?
Darn that CBS. They edited the entire thing out didn’t they? Geez. What can you expect from a network like CBS.

So are you using the random number generator for every single vote-off? I remember reading in your early intro to the story that you were going to use the random number generator except for plot-crucial people. Wondering if getting Tara to the final two was plot-crucial or if it has been in the hands of the Goddess all along.
Ok, now I’ll explain the random number generator.

I set a few rules in stone to start with:
1. Willow and Tara are on different teams.
2. Both will at least make the jury.
3. At some point they will have a switch and be on the same team.
4. They will NOT be in the F2.

After that, I rolled first to see which team won RC & IC each week. Then rolled to see which IC losing team member was voted off. Then did the same after merge character by character #. Then I wrote the plot around the results.

Comments I owed from Update 23:
Bozwell – Yay back. Glad you liked it. Yeah, Willow and Kent and also the explanation for Kent and Faith. Lol about working pompous blowhard into conversation. Seriously, if Giles was your stepfather, wouldn’t you think that of him?

Yeah. Can’t you just imagine Dawn seeing that as her chance for revenge? Feeding your older sister worms and bugs? Awesome huh! Joyce leaving not a big surprise.

my only gut feeling is really tara and faith now at this point.
I think you are in agreement with most folks on that. Sorry to hear about your watching the Palau season finale. Not a stellar season at all. Still, I take it as a compliment.

ringwaldoeuvre – Hey back. Really? Three updates? I didn’t think it had been that long and honestly just figured you were busy (believe me, I know that feeling).
In keeping with the realization that you are Elvis, perhaps I can offer a peanut-butter-and-banana sandwich emoticon?
I love PBJ but PBB less so. But didn’t The King also eat PB and Baloney? Very yuck. Anyway, the emoticon idea sounds great. Lol.

Yeah the fact that Tara and Kent would win giving Kent more time on the island wasn’t a big surprise at that point. I think that most of the mystery here is built by the posting style: the parallel posts rather than being purely my intent. That said, it is fun to know a lot that the readers don’t know.

I love the nouns for names thing (Asher’s middle name isGriffin after all). We really considered naming a girl Faith (we didn’t find out in advance) but figured we would get all manner of shit from everyone for it. Anyway, I agree about the contrast in tension and I think it will only get more pronounced. Thanks.

Update 24
Willow~Rosenberg – Lol about Martha Stewart. Yes, Willow definitely wants to spend more time. Wouldn’t you???

Well we are talking about first graders so they were fascinated by the idea of eating lunch every day at McDonalds. They would certainly be fascinated by blowtorches and islands. Thanks for your comments.

blue eyed girl – Yeah more time is a good. And she has certainly changed. Wouldn’t you be disbelieving if someone told you they could make fire by rubbing two sticks together? My nephew just finished Kindergarten and he always thinks people are lying. He doesn’t even see a distinction between teasing and lying. Everything is “you’re lying.”

Glad you liked and thanks for the comments.

cooper - Yep, moving right along. I agree that the update would be kind of cool but way too long and would kind of mess up the current rhythm. I think the way I was imagining it, the school has a sort of rotating thing where each week a few parents come to speak to the class.
part of the much advertised trailer.
Yes to that.

Thanks for your comments.

pipsberg – Thank you so much. I am trying to keep the momentum going nicely and really spotlight it. I want to think that they are moving along in their relationship even as the game is going on in “non-real” time. Yeah, they love Ariel.

Insanity – Hey there. Thanks so much. Yeah a bit short but sweet. I think Willow is so high-tech girl she probably hasn’t had a land-line phone for years. She takes her cell everywhere (except the island of course so it’s not a big thing at all for her to be in OH).

I like them goofing around about the show.
I think that is one way for them to deal with the contrast between the two timelines and two realities. They kind of have to do it as a coping mechanism. Makes sense?

I have one question to "Survivor" in general, I only want to see if I understood it right.

The last two competitors go to she studio and there the seven people who are voted of last (F9-F3) vote who wins. And the show is at the end of the series. Is it a live show? Do the F2 go home without a winner vvoted? Or is the show and the voting already done, only they don't know who wins?
See the FAQ above. That should answer that question.

You’re welcome about TAKR. It’s great.

How's Asher and Rachel? Everyone healthy and happy?
Thanks for asking. Everyone is great. We’re at the inlaws right now and then going to Dallas for a wedding of a friend of Rachel’s. Rachel is doing a very beautiful reading for the ceremony so very excited. She just go a job in the mornings so I’m going to shift my work hours later and get to spend every day with Asher until 10:00. This week I’ve been going in at noon so I can watch him and it’s been a blast. I’m totally excited about it!

robotguru – Yes, sweet. I agree. I guess moving in. Just not officially and 100%. Good thoughts on the game.
the final two spend one more day together, then there is a tribal council. The jurors each ask two questions directed to both Survivors (i think, someone feel free to correct me on that) and the vote is made there, but no one is told the result. Then at the live show, the votes are shown like all the other tribal councils, except, the votes are shown oner at a time (constant recap on scores) and everyone speaks to the camera when they make their vote.
That’s all true with the exception of the talking to camera part. Thanks for the answer.

Thank you.

truck_driving_magic_mama – Glad you liked both the conversation and the class part. Sorry if the danger of Willow’s stuff is a red herring. Seriously, nothing bad to happen to her while on her drive. In this case, just indicative of what she would take with her to “move in” (sort of) with Tara. Thanks.

Watson – I don’t even think that having Ariel take Tara’s name was a real consideration for them. I mean Kent was going to be her father and an active part of her life so of course she has his name. Yeah, very kid-friendly. Not, “16 fame-hungry unemployed actor/waiters screw over and lie to each other for 39 days until they decide which of them is less deserving of winning a ton of money.”

Willow’s definitely ready to move on to the next phase of her relationship. I mean she’s been around and done everything she wants with everyone she wanted. Ready to get serious. 500 miles isn’t so bad and she’ll be fine. They have similar signs here to tell you to keep awake.

Good guesses on Robin and Willow. Thanks.

Urn of Osiris – Thanks. Yes, I needed a child-safe explanation. I would like to show the watching together part but it kind of violates the pattern of update and story structure. So you can imagine it. Thanks.

littlecrazy80 – Thanks. Yes, they are definitely ready to “move in” (sort of). She’s pretty good with kids as you can see by her interactions with Ariel so she’s a natural for it.

willlovestara – Thanks. Lol about asking Ariel’s last name. Honestly, I just picked it out of the air. No deep meaning or anything. Good guess on Robin’s departure.

stillrunning – Yeah. She certainly has and to tell the truth, at just age 22, I’m pretty impressed. I certainly hadn’t calmed down very well at 22. She’s definitely got a good idea with the time splitting.

Cindipitude – Hi. Thanks so much. It’s cool to think of how different this story would have been if I hadn’t decided to include the in between parts. Now I kind of think of that as the real story and the other as the filler. But then I go the other way too. Glad that it works so well. Robin and Buffy good thoughts too. I agree that Faith has pissed people off but sometimes everyone really respects the work someone puts into treachery. Mmm… You’re right about the Tara and Willow Jury time. Would definitely be very nice. Lol about no clue. Thanks for guessing though. Very good logic and thinking through.

AnirtakEnigma – Hey again. Don’t’ worry about the not responding. We all get super busy. Myself included. Glad you’re caught up.
it IS a game and what if one of them sees something that they didn't know was going on and then there's the whole "Wait, you actually DID that while we were on the island together???"
I think you’re absolutely right about that. There are certainly things that the camera will show that each of them didn’t know was going on. Quite complicated for their game and their relationship. They’ll have to handle it with maturity. Thanks a lot.

Tonto :wave I’m not sure I’ve seen your name before. Wait a minute. Now I read your post and see this is your first post so a huge Welcome! :bounce So glad to see you here. And another of the Survivor fans to add to the list. Cool. Glad you like both scenes.
Rob & Amber's experience. Will there be wedding bells in their future?
Did you watch Rob & Amber get married? OMG! It was the most beautiful wedding I’ve ever seen. Whatever you think about the two of them, CBS can really put on a wedding. Thanks.

Artemis – Hey Chris! I heard you put up a challenge fic and I definitely want to get over there and read it. Some time soon… I’m not sure that family members come anywhere to get their loved ones. I would assume that CBS just puts them all on a plane back to their homes and says to shut up for the next 5 months. Ok, they say it with legal papers and stuff like that.
But 'misdirection' sounds better than 'I'm clueless', so let's go with that
:rofl

I agree that having someone at your house like you’re living together is quite different from “can I get you a coffee?” The three of them need to start to be a family and get to know each other in that way. I think the change is the important thing rather than any chance of disaster.
I'm wondering... something about the way Willow suggested watching Survivor together 'while they still could' made me wonder if perhaps she's not just talking about the end of the series in a few weeks' time.
Absolutely! At this point there are only 2 weeks left: This Thursday, next Thursday, and the 3 hour season Finale on Sunday. That’s it to the entire series so it’s a limited time. Good thinking on Robin & Buffy’s chances. Thanks.

Irene73 – Hey there. Thanks for asking about the family. See above for general answer. You’re right about the important things in life. You’re right that Asher is growing so fast it’s amazing. I can’t believe he’s 16 months old already! Amazing.

Yeah, it’s be a hard thing to explain Survivor to kids. I mean the whole, “is lying wrong?” and “is cheating wrong?” Exactly! We know Tara wont’ get tired of Willow but Willow has to ask. Lol about Ariel’s name. Good guesses on next off.

You’re always welcome. Thanks for you comments.

irishgrl3 – Thanks for noting the reality TV observation. That’s exactly what I’m finding out myself.

I’m sure I’ll be at a few career days. Probably computer programming will sound totally boring to kids. On the other hand, they’re all into computers so maybe they’ll think I program their X-box games or something. (I really program auditing programs).
until I brought out all of my camera eqt. and just let the kids play, then I too was the cool one.
That’s great. There’s a great Sports Night episode where the guy goes to career day and bores the kids until he starts doing the play-by-play and highlights on recess.

Yeah, Willow’s on the way. Thanks a lot.

SallyMcFine – Thanks a lot and welcome! :wave Like you, I’ve missed a few years of Survivor but pretty much watch them all now. Loved Stephenie too. I agree about the cookies. Thanks so much for your comments. I’m glad you’re loving it.

tarawhipped – Hey.
but I hope you actually write out the scene of Willow and Tara watching the show together,
Hmm. I’ll spoil this and say it’s not going to happen. It just wouldn’t fit with the back and forth nature of the updates. One on the island, maybe a morning-after show, and then a real life. There wouldn’t be a way to do the show and real life simultaneously and have it flow at all. Also, it would probably be pretty redundant. Hope that makes sense.
I wonder if the timing was just right for Willow to make the suggestion, or if there's something about this next particular episode that made her want to be there.
Good question. You have to remember that she asked a few weeks ago (real life time) but is there anything special about this episode???

You’re right that Willow is very much a big kid. Thanks so much.

meretricious
i remember you commenting earlier on that this fic doesn't get as much response as most of your fics usually do, i think it's holding it's own now though, isn't it?
Boy are you right! The feedback is fantastic and so appreciated! Definitely holding it’s own (and maybe someone else’s too). Hey everyone. If you’re reading another fic and you haven’t commented lately or ever, please go do that. Cool.

I love George Carlin. My favorite of his bits is about taking your stuff (vacation, etc.). Thanks for everything.

watersong84 – Thanks. Yeah, I like the idea of her working with a blowtorch too. I had a girlfriend who was a welder once but she was working as a legal secretary when I knew her. She put on her gear once though: mmm… Thanks for your thoughts.

VixenyTarasHot – Thank you so much. Yeah, moving closer to your lover is always a good! Lol about getting the real guesses wrong. We’re pretty close now so you could probably guess and have a good likelihood of being right or close. Thanks.

Always410 – No. Do your homework. Luckily for you I’m only updating about once a week so you have plenty of time to do it from now on. Glad you’re hooked though. I agree about the Tara mom stories. I love them too. Thanks.

Trom DeGrey – Hey! FB from Trom. Don’t worry about being a bum. On the other hand, I’m thrilled to see your comments. Like I’ve said before Survivor is a really interesting thing because of the complexity of the interactions. Like you we watch very little TV (and don’t read newspapers at all) but we do watch Survivor and love it. Lol about the Buff. Maybe I should put a list of links? :rofl I agree about the contrast of the type of update. I’m glad you think it works well. Quote]I was heartily glad to see the merge happen. I had a list with everyone on each team and was crossing them off as they were eliminated! [/quote]Believe me that I have a similar thing only it maps out who is who, what alliances, and when they are voted off (and who votes what way). Hmmm… maybe I could auction it on E-bay? Just kidding. Thanks for your comments.

I've been gone way, way, way too long. *hangs head in shame* I'm sorry! Really I am! But part of me was hoping that this fic would be done when I got back... and of course it isn't... so I'm still craving more... and I really need to lay off the ellipses.

Survivor - Ash Island

Postby JustSkipIt » Wed Jun 01, 2005 6:57 pm

Tempest Duer – Sorry to disappoint. I’d say it will be done in about 2 months. Wow, sounds like a long time doesn’t it? Does 6-8 updates sound quicker? Thanks for reading.

Title – Survivor – Ash Island

Part 25 – Week 10

Author – JustSkipIt

Pairing – Who do you think? (W/T of course)

Feedback – Oh yes.

Spoilers–None

Rating – PG-13

Disclaimer – I own none of these characters nor do I own Survivor. And believe it or not, I also don’t own any small islands. On the other hand, this island is fictional so let’s say I own it. I’m making no money from this fiction and intend no copyright infringement.

Disclaimer – No. I don’t work for Chevy and honestly, I drive a Toyota which follows 2 Nissans and a Mazda. But they always give away Chevys so that’s what I used.

Camp – Day 28
Again we see shots of the volcano--dormant once again--trees, waves, iguana, more trees… Typical morning shots of the camp. A few players emerge from the hut while others are having a harder time getting moving.

Confessional Caption – Kendra – Interpreter
Kendra sits in ankle-deep water, her arms wrapped around her knees. “This is the day, Mon. The day when no one can get going. Everyone thinks to that to get this far, you have to be really strong. Well you have to be really strong to get this far, but it really weakens you. I would love a good night’s sleep and a good meal.”

Buffy and Faith are breaking up firewood somewhat lackadaisically. Robin and Willow fish much the same way.

Confessional Caption – Willow – Software Startup Owner
Willow holds up three small fish for the camera. “Everyone is exhausted. It’s like we’ve all silently agreed to leave each other alone for the day. Of course on this island, alone time may not be good. While one person is taking alone time, the others may be planning your exit.” She takes a deep breath and leans over putting her hands on her knees. “Today I just can’t care about it.”

Tara walks along picking berries but moves slowly. She returns to the camp with her container half-full and sets them by the fire before joining Faith, Kendra, and Buffy who are sunbathing. Robin comes up and sees the four girls lying on the beach and apparently decides to join them. In the next shot we see that Willow is also taking a do-nothing day as she lies by the others. Various shots throughout the day show a very tired and hungry team. We see them doing the bare minimum to keep the camp running before having their dinner: fish and rice and plantains.

The next of shots show the group sitting around the fire as dusk and then darkness fall. It is apparent that the lethargy that has plagued the group continues. Finally we see them rising one by one to enter the hut and sleep while daylight is just leaving the sky.

Confessional Caption – Robin – High-School Principal
Robin sits against a tree away from the hut. “This was a throwaway day. I’m sure that everyone will be more upbeat and energetic tomorrow. Especially if we have a challenge.” He stands up, brushes off his hands, and walks toward the shelter.

Day 29
“We’ve got mail,” Kendra and Faith announce. They show everyone the tree mail which is written on a small slide puzzle.

“Everything you’ve done
And everything you know
Will serve you well
If you have places to go.”

“Still not great poetry.” Tara shakes her head.

“I’m thinking Ted Kooser isn’t worried about his position,” Willow agrees.

“Who?” Buffy asks.

“H-he’s a poet,” Tara offers helpfully.

Faith holds up the small puzzle. “Unless he’s competing in this challenge, I don’t care if he’s the inventor of rice and plantains.”

Reward Challenge
The six remaining Survivors all file in, walking past a sliver SUV that is parked to the side of the mat. Jeff has a big grin on his face. “Welcome.”

Everyone greets him with loud hellos and cheers as they have obviously figured out that this is the car challenge.

“Well,” Jeff says, “you might have noticed the Chevy Equinox parked there.”

Everyone cheers and answers loudly that they’ve certainly noticed it.

“Today’s challenge is the car challenge.” Jeff waits a few beats. “The winner of today’s challenge will get these.” He holds up a set of keys. “That person will get in the car and drive down that path. The GPS in the truck will direct you to a cabin where you will spend the night. The cabin has dinner and breakfast for you as well as a shower.” Everyone cheers and looks suitably overwhelmed at the thought.

Next Jeff explains the game: “Today’s challenge is a combination of some of the challenges you have already completed.” He points to the water. “In the water are six identical navigation courses. Each survivor will start on his or her raft. Tethered to the bottom of the ocean is a beam. You must swim down and release three catches which hold your beam in place: one carabineer clip, one lock, and one knot. Once you have released your beam you will push or pull it to the beginning of your course.” The competitors are all shading their eyes as they look at the sun glinting brightly on the waves and the zigzag pattern of four beams already in place for each of them. “You will fit the beam into the starting position in your course,” he continues. “Then you can lift yourself up and run across the beams. If you fall off, you have to return to the beginning.”

The Survivors all give a gasp at the prospect of falling off and having to return to the beginning. “Once you reach the end of your balance beams, you will jump off and race to the beach.” On the beach the competitors can see six pedestals set up with a flag attached to each. “The pedestal contains a puzzle. You will have to solve the puzzle. When you are done, use the machete to cut the rope and raise your flag.” All the other competitors glance at Willow as he explains that the final step in the challenge is the puzzle.

Next we see the six Survivors each standing on his or her raft standing in position ready for the shout. Jeff yells, “Survivors, ready, Go!” and they all dive in. As the distance to the first dive is not far, all the competitors reach their dive location at similar times and dive under. An underwater camera shows quick cuts of Robin untying a knot, Faith unhooking her carabineer clip, Buffy working the lock, and all the competitors resurfacing to catch their breath. As this task continues, we see that all the Survivors are becoming tired and disoriented from their repeated dives. Jeff yells, “Robin dives again and his beam is the first to float. Kendra’s beam is up after Robin’s and the two leaders begin pushing their beams toward their courses.” An underwater camera shows Buffy still struggling with the lock and key although it is apparent that she has already released the other two clips. Tara unclips the carabineer clip and her log floats to the surface just as Faith begins pushing hers toward the course. Willow unlocks the lock and sees her beam float to the surface. By the time Willow is locking her beam into place, Faith is struggling fitting hers into the slot and Robin and Kendra are pulling themselves onto their beams. Tara locks hers into place just as Buffy’s wood finally floats to the surface.

Robin and Kendra start along their beams, both moving quickly as Willow and Tara struggle to pull themselves onto their structures. Faith finally locks hers into place and easily gets to her feet. Buffy struggles to lock her beam into place. “Robin and Kendra in the lead, racing along their second beams,” Jeff shouts, “while Willow appears to take a more cautious approach.” We can see that Robin and Kendra are moving quickly while Willow walks steadily and carefully. “Tara following Willow’s lead, slower but steady,” Jeff yells. “Faith and Buffy also taking the fast track,” he comments, “as both faster girls pass Tara.” As if to prove Willow and Tara’s point about going too fast, we see a blur and then hear Jeff yelling: “And Buffy is in the water!” “Kendra nearing the end of her fourth beam alongside Robin;Tara and Willow on their second beams; and Faith passing them and nearing the leaders. OH! Kendra takes a fall! Now Robin is well in the lead!” We see Kendra swimming back to the beginning of her course just behind Buffy who is pulling herself back onto the wood. “Robin slips but saves himself!” Apparently taking their cues from the others, both Robin and Faith slow to walking pace. “And Robin has reached the water first followed by Faith,” Jeff shouts, “Willow nears the end of the course and Tara a beam behind her!” “Kendra and Buffy making steady progress and no one is out of it.”

Robin and Faith swim tiredly toward shore, standing to run as soon as they can do so. By the time they are running, Willow is in the water swimming after them and Tara is a few strokes behind. Robin reaches his pedestal first and looks at the puzzle as he leans on the structure to catch his breath. Faith reaches hers next and likewise stands attempting to get her breath. Having passed Willow in the water, Tara reaches hers puzzle next. “Robin, Faith, and Tara working their puzzles as Willow reaches hers and Buffy and Kendra on the beams!”

Robin, Faith, and Tara move their puzzle pieces around quickly. Robin and Faith are shaking their heads while Tara bites her lip as she works. The puzzle has 15 multi-colored squares in a 16-square space so they have to move a piece to the blank spot to move the pieces around. Willow continues staring at her pieces. “Robin, Faith, and Tara continuing to attempt to solve the puzzle. Willow planning her moves and Kendra is into the water with Buffy right behind her!” Jeff shouts.

Jeff now walks behind the competitors commenting on their progress. “Tara’s puzzle moving toward something as is Faith’s! Willow starting to move her pieces. Buffy and Kendra swim toward shore! And it’s going to come down to who can complete his or her puzzle first!” Shots cut between the competitors showing their progress. Tara has completed her top row as has Faith. Robin struggles to put pieces in place as does Kendra. Willow moves her pieces very quickly, sliding the pieces on the top row into place and then the second.

“Willow in the lead with more than two rows in place! Tara and Faith close behind but struggling with their last few pieces.” Looking at their puzzles in frustration, Kendra and Robin both appear to give up and take their hands from their puzzles all together. “And Willow slides her last piece into place! She grabs the machete off her pedestal and cuts her rope. Willow’s flag is up and she’s won the challenge!”

Realizing that she has won, Willow uncharacteristically screams and thrusts her fists in the air, pumping them in excitement as the camera shows the completed Survivor logo puzzle. The other competitors stand looking at the puzzles or resting their hands on their hips.

Jeff walks over to Willow and shakes her hand. He appears shocked as she is too excited to stop at a handshake and wraps him in a hug, getting his trademark safari shirt wet. He is laughing when she lets go. “I think these are yours,” he tells her extending the keys which she takes with a huge smile on her face. “And since you’ve seen this show before, you probably know you can pick someone to go with you on your reward.”

We see shots of the other competitors’s faces as they all look at Tara. “Tara,” Willow says with no hesitation at all. When the blonde steps forward smiling, Willow walks over to open the passenger door of the truck and let her in.

“The rest of you can head back to camp,” Jeff announces as the truck drives away.

Confessional Caption – Faith – Personal Trainer
“Ok, no one’s surprised that Willow is the best at puzzles. Really all we could hope for was that one of us would be far enough ahead of her to not give her the chance. That didn’t happen and she wins a freaking truck!” She winks. “I’m pretty sure she and Tara will enjoy their reward tonight.”

Willow and Tara drive down the road looking very happy. Willow is driving fast and veering around yelling “Yippee” and “Whoa!” as if testing the truck’s handling. Tara laughs along with her and begins yelling too.

“I won a truck and we’re getting food and we get a shower,” Willow sings in an incredibly off-key voice. Tara picks it up and sings along with her.

Confessional Caption – Tara – Medical Receptionist
“Well Willow won the truck and the overnight reward and she picked me. I’m not sure it was her smartest move, game-wise but it definitely impressed me. I mean what a date. First date or was that the fish dinner? Maybe second date? Quite a d-date.”

We see the truck skid to a stop outside a bamboo structure with billowing sheer curtains hanging down on all sides. Parked to the side of the house is another truck. “Oh God!” Tara screams as she realizes that she has also won a truck.

Continuation of above Confessional
“Then we pulled up and not only is there this beautiful cabin and a table set with silverware and mounds of food,” Tara says with tears gleaming in her eyes, “but there is another truck parked there.”

We see the two girls climb down from the truck and run over to the identical one parked by the structure. Both are screaming and Tara grabs Willow and hugs and then kisses her. We cut to commercial.

When we return from commercial the two girls are blushing furiously as they make their way over to the table. It is piled high with fruits, cheese, crackers, drinks, wine, and many other snacks. They sit and begin eating with gusto. “Do you think we have hot water?” Willow asks as she brushes her hand along Tara’s arm.

“You should g-g-go find out. I’ll go s-s-second.”

White Hat Camp
The four remaining team members eat rice, fish, and plantains quietly. “I wonder what they’re eating,” Buffy muses.

“Don’t we all,” Faith mumbles into her bowl. Kendra laughs but doesn’t expand on the dark-haired girl’s comment.

Confessional Caption – Buffy – College Student
“I’m definitely not stupid but I’ll tell you what. If a player who you had an alliance with picks someone else to go on an overnight reward, you might want to take notice. It didn’t even seem like Willow thought about it. Just, ‘Tara’s going.’”

“What’s wrong, B?” Faith says as the four remaining players finish their meal and hand the plates to Robin who carries them to the pot .

“Nothing,” Buffy pouts.

“Thought Red was going to take you?”

“Whatever,” Buffy huffs and walks away from the fire.

Reward Cabin
We see Willow and Tara sitting at the dining table eating. Both are wearing identical plush white robes. They appear to be eating a variety of fish and pasta and vegetables. Both are drinking glasses of red wine also.

Confessional Caption – Willow – Software Startup Owner
“Without a doubt,” Willow is saying with a huge smile on her face, “the best best best day ever. I mean I won a truck. Tara won a truck—which I gave her! And we got this awesome reward. Probably the best date of all time.” She puts her hands up likes she’s dancing and sings, “Go me. Go me. Go me.”

“Hey,” Tara calls from the cabin, “there’s music.” She presses a series of buttons and music comes wafting out to where the redhead is sitting on the porch drinking her wine. She slowly comes out and watches the girl for a few seconds before Willow turns around.

“What?” Willow asks.

“Dance with me,” Tara whispers holding out her hand.

Day 30
Next we see a shot of the sun rising over the cabin. Tara’s arms are wrapped around Willow as if they have been that way all night long. Both women start to stir. “I smell coffee,” Willow murmurs. The two girls eat their breakfast on the porch, stealing shy glances at each other.

Confessional Caption – Tara – Medical Receptionist
“Oh God. That was so a-amazing. I mean we both got to take showers last night and this morning. With soap! And shampoo! And I shaved. I feel almost human again. I swear I could do another nine days of this.”

White Hat Camp – Day 30
Robin, Faith, Kendra, and Buffy are eating plantains and coconuts as Tara and Willow walk up the path. Everyone shouts and they begin hugging the two girls as if they haven’t seen them in months. “Look at you!” Faith screams, “you’re clean. Oh God. Tell me you didn’t shave.”

“Ok,” Willow agrees, “we didn’t shave.”

“You really didn’t shave?”

“Hell yeah we shaved,” the redhead gloats. Then she and Tara look around and reach into their pockets and the stomachs of their clothing to pull out the bagels, fruit, and cheese that they managed to swipe that morning after breakfast. All four remaining members dig in with gusto as Tara tells them that she won a truck as well.

Tara is humming to herself and picking berries as Kendra approaches. “Did you have a good night?”

“Wonderful. Glorious. Lovely.”

Kendra narrows her eyebrows slightly. She seems to be about to say something but instead starts gathering berries.

Immunity Challenge
Jeff welcomes the six remaining survivors back to challenge beach and says that Willow and Tara are looking quite refreshed. Then he asks Buffy for the immunity necklace back and comments that she must be quite used to it after two straight wins. “But once again, the necklace and immunity is up for grabs and the person who wins immunity is guaranteed a one in five chance of winning a million dollars.”

“Today’s challenge is very simple,” Jeff explains. He points to six water towers behind them. Each one has a chain hanging down from it. “You will each stand under the barrel of water with your wrist fastened to the chain. If you move it will pull the barrel and you will get wet. If your barrel dumps on you, you are out. The last person not soaked is the winner.”

Next we see all six competitors standing under their barrels with their arms in the air. Jeff shouts, “Survivors Ready! Go!” and nothing happens. They all continue standing under the barrels of water.

It is difficult to tell how long the Survivors have been standing there when Willow sneezes. The movement is enough to pull the water down on top of her. Before she can get detached and move to the side, Robin appears to move very barely and he is soaked. Next to go is Tara who gets her third shower in less than 24 hours.

“Ten minutes have gone by,” Jeff announces, “and Faith, Kendra, and Buffy are all still standing strong. For immunity!” Moments later Kendra drops her arm: “Kendra is out! Will it be Buffy for the third straight time or Faith winning her first immunity?”

Caption – 20 minutes elapsed
“You could let go you know,” Faith tells Buffy.

“Right,” the blonde says through clenched teeth, “and become the fourth member of the jury?”

“You could join your mother,” Faith says with a sneer. She apparently hopes to shock Buffy into moving and is in luck.

“What?” Buffy asks with a start and feels the cold water pouring down on her head.

“And Buffy is out!” Jeff shouts, “Giving Faith immunity for tonight’s tribal council.” Faith screams a war-cry and pulls the water down over her head intentionally.

Confessional Caption – Faith – Personal Trainer
Faith is rinsing in the ocean as she talks, the immunity necklace around her neck. “Well I wanted this one or at least I didn’t want little Miss College to get it.”

Willow is fishing when Buffy approaches her. “Hey Willster. How are things with you and Tara?”

“Fine,” Willow says cooly.

“You two seem really close.”

“Uh huh,” Willow says as she hooks a fish and pulls it from the water, putting it in the mesh bag on her hip.

“Are we still tight?”

“Are you serious?” Willow says as she casts another line, “you’d sell me in a second to stay in this game or to align with Joyce.”

“Look, I’ve never lied to you. I’ve never betrayed you. I made promises to you and I’ve kept every one.”

Willow finally turns and faces the blonde. “You’ve been lying to me all along. Why would I believe you now?” She quickly pulls the line from the water and stomps off.

Faith, Kendra, and Tara are breaking up firewood together. “It’s taken three challenges but we finally have our chance tonight,” Kendra says.

“Can you tell Red who to vote for?” Faith asks.

“And R-robin?”

“I’ll handle it,” Faith agrees.

Confessional Caption – Faith – Personal Trainer
“I love my girls. Both of them are going to take me to the million dollars. But they’re too trusting. You have to cut off attacks before they can happen and Buffy is really smart at this. I’m here to play a game.”

Faith and Robin approach Buffy as the blonde attempts to catch fish. “Yo, B.”

“Coming to give me a message for my mother?”

“Not quite,” Faith answers. “You want to go home tonight?”

“Of course not,” Buffy again retorts.

“Look,” Robin says, “none of us can come close to the kid when it comes to the puzzles and there are always more and more puzzles near the end.”

“Tara won’t vote against Willow,” Buffy says.

“But Kendra will,” Faith smiles, “and that’s another reason we need to take care of it. We don’t want another Rob and Amber around here.” The three shake hands to seal the bargain.

Tribal Council
The six Survivors file in and take their seats. Jeff smiles at them and calls in the jury members: Mac, Xander, and Joyce. “Let’s talk about this week,” he says. “Willow, how was it winning a reward?”

“Jeff,” Willow smiles broadly, “the truck is fantastic and the reward was great.”

“When you won the reward, you picked Tara. Buffy, that seemed to really upset you?”

Buffy breathes out a long breath before telling the host. “I probably shouldn’t have been that surprised that Will picked Tara. The thing is that everyone out here is playing a game. I guess I just didn’t expect a game to include an overnight payment.” Willow turns and looks angrily at her former tribe member.

Even Jeff looks shocked by Buffy’s harsh words. “Tara,” he says, “you look pretty upset about what Buffy just said.”

“I d-d-didn’t d-d-do anything… on the r-reward challenge that I’m ashamed of,” she says as her cheeks quickly turn dark red.

“Willow. Are you starting to worry that your skill at puzzles makes you a target?”

“At this point, there are six people left playing for a million dollars. Sure I’m heck on puzzles but Kendra, Faith, and Robin can kick my butt running any physical challenge. Everyone is a target.”

“Is that true, Tara? Is everyone a target?”

“I th-think that everyone is in danger but if you have strong alliances and t-t-trust people, you don’t have to b-b-be one,” she answers.

“Buffy,” Jeff says, “you’ve won the first two individual immunity challenges and now you lost one. Are you the obvious target?”

“Sure. I’ve been a real Slayer of the challenges. Now I’m in danger. But I’m not ready to give up on this game yet.”

“Robin. You’re the only man left. Does that put you in danger?”

“These women are strong,” Robin says, “every one of them. There’s no reason for me to be more of a threat than them.”

Jeff nods. “Let’s go vote.”

Tara votes first followed by Willow and Kendra. Buffy votes holding up a ballot with Willow’s name. “Sorry, Willow. I wanted to go to the end with you but it just isn’t going to happen.”

Robin votes and then Faith. Faith holds up her vote with Buffy’s name. “Hey B,” she says, “when you get back to the resort, why don’t you look up naïve in the dictionary.” She pauses for a second. “Seriously, I just couldn’t have you coming around me from the side.”

“I’ll tally the votes,” Jeff announces before retrieving the votes. “First vote: Buffy. Second vote: Willow.” Tara, Willow, and Kendra all look shocked at the vote. “Third vote: Buffy,” he says. “That’s two votes Buffy, one vote Willow.” He pulls another vote: “Fourth vote: Buffy.” Buffy has a look on her face like she’s trying to do the math while Faith has a smug smile on hers. “And the eleventh person voted off Survivor – Ash Island and fourth jury member is Buffy.”

“Nicely done,” Buffy says to Faith as she gets up and takes her torch to Jeff.

Parting Words
“I got taken right at the end but I wouldn’t change a damn thing about this game. This was the best four weeks of my life!”

Next Week on Survivor Ash Island
”A storm wreaks havoc on the camp.” Shots of the shelter in shambles and belongings strewn along the beach.

“Alliances may be threatened in a reward challenge.” Willow shoots a slingshot while Tara looks at her in disbelief.

“And by the time the episode is over, the final four are decided.” Tara crying. “I can’t believe I have to do this.”

Survivor - Ash Island

Postby JustSkipIt » Wed Jun 01, 2005 6:59 pm

Title – Survivor – Ash Island

Part 26 – The Early Show

Author – JustSkipIt

Pairing – Who do you think? (W/T of course)

Feedback – Oh yes.

Spoilers–None

Rating – PG

Disclaimer – I own none of these characters nor do I own Survivor. And believe it or not, I also don’t own any small islands. On the other hand, this island is fictional so let’s say I own it. I’m making no money from this fiction and intend no copyright infringement.

We see the Early Show Survivor set with Harry standing by Buffy. Buffy wears a pair of black jeans, tight white summer sweater, and stylish yet affordable boots.

“I’m here with Buffy Summers,” Harry says, “the latest person voted off Survivor – Ash Island. Welcome, Buffy.”

Show Clip – Buffy building the ladder and climbing to the platform to raise her flag and win the first individual immunity challenge.

“Buffy, you lasted longer than any other member of Akathla but last night it all seemed to catch up to you.”

“Actually, Willow outlasted me and she was an original member of Akathla.”

“Well, right,” Harry smiles, “but Willow moved to MFashnek and joined that team and its alliances.”

Show Clip – Willow gathering berries and firewood at the MFashnek camp.

“Do you feel that Willow double-crossed you? She was aligned with you but she voted against you last night.”

Show Clips – The conversation between Willow and Buffy about Willow’s intentions for her vote. A shot of Buffy’s shocked face when Willow picked Tara to share her reward.

“I thought Will and I were solid out there,” Buffy admits with a shrug, “but she’s playing her own game. She found a way into a very strong alliance and she’s riding that.”

“Are you saying that she’s faking her relationship with Tara for the game?” Harry asks with disbelief.

“No,” Buffy quickly explains, “that’s not what I’m saying. I’m saying that being attracted to someone and not wanting to win a million dollars would be very different things. I don’t doubt that the two women like each other but they are both playing a game.”

“So everyone has a game to play?” Harry asks.

“Yes,” Buffy agrees.

“Now, Buffy, your mother Joyce was on the show and in fact is on the jury.”

Show Clip – Joyce and Buffy standing on the deck of the yacht catching up and assessing each other

“How did you decide to apply for the show?”

Buffy smiles. “You know we each applied separately. Only once we had both independently made it a few rounds did we find out about the other.”

“Then what?”

“Then the producer suggested that we go on the island but not let on that we knew each other. Being on Survivor was simply a great experience for me and doing it with my mom was priceless. Neither of us won but no one can ever take this adventure away from either of us.”

Shot Clips – Buffy competing in various challenges.

“What’s next for you?” Harry asks.

“I’m back at my senior year at Northwestern playing soccer for the university.”

“Well, good luck,” Harry says, “and thanks for coming in today.”

He turns to the camera. “That’s Buffy Summers. The fourth jury member on Survivor – Ash Island.”

I was so excited I had to read the update before I went to sleep. I almost thought Willow was going to get voted out. You had me on the edge of my seat. I love that feeling!!! The reward challenge was great. Willow & Tara got to spend some quality time together without the other members around.

The previews for the next episode have me on the edge of my seat as well.. I wonder what Tara is so torn about. I can't wait!!!!

Oh my! What a reward! What a date! Gotta love the editors:
Kendra:I would love a good night’s sleep and a good meal.

and lo and behold, that was the RC. A very sweet date indeed, now Tara's earlier comments about "second or third date" makes perfect sense. I guess if neither girls win the $1million, at least they have the trucks. Did Willow take delivery yet? Is that the truck she is driving from Atlanta to Columbus in?

The little signs that even on the island, they've gone beyond "comfort" and "alliance".
Willow asks as she brushes her hand along Tara’s arm.

and
“Dance with me,”

So sweet, so telling. I actually prefer the PG-13 version of their night, I think it's prettty clear that it didn't proceed beyond snuggles or perhaps some heavy duty making out under the cover of the darkness (cos cameras lurking and all).

I like the little exchange when they returned, about shaving. I guess for the women it'll be a big deal. I mean if I were on a deserted island I should be worried about being clean, but for some reason, growing body hair bugs me too.

And the tension, tension at the end, about who'd be out next. I was almost certain it'll be Willow, if Buffy managed to persuade the others about W's danger to the group. It makes sense (of course, after the event) that Buffy is voted out. She's never been a member of the MFashnek alliance, and her tendency to win ICs is even more threatening to the others. Plus Joyce's certain vote plays a part too. Her "overnight payment" remark is borderline out of order, IMHO.

Shout-out time!
I’ve been a real Slayer of the challenges.

:lmao

Lastly, I understand your reasons for not writing the watching the show together segment, but perhaps there will be conversations with Ariel about her Mommy playing house with Willow on the island (in the way children understand lol) and now Willow is coming to visit for a few weeks. I'd love to know Ariel's reaction to watching the episode with the new family.

I tell ya, next Wednesday can't come quickly enough :) .

Oooo yeay! Sneaky you.. all with the thinking Willow was gonna be voted out...

I love your challenges dude.. I can totally see em being played out in my head.. always a good thing!

I loved the whole "date" with the girls.. very cute.. damn PG-13 rating.. pssh, what is thaaaaaaaat? But I am a lil bit worried about the scenes from next episode... Tara maybe having to vote off Willow? I guess it would be too good to be true if they were the final two... I think Tara wins, and she shares the money with Willow which is always just as good ;)

More soon pleeeeeeease?!

Man oh man... that was great, just great :bounce . The only thing I regret is that since this is a tv show that is *not* on late at night, we didn't get to see much of the date at the cabin. I am so excited for Tara though, she really deserves that car!

And to do with the early show episode...
stylish yet affordable boots
Yes, this phrase might be used a lot, but that's because it is so damn funny. I love it. I actually am just reading up on W/T Season 3 Y'all, and you used it in there also to describe Faith's shoe as it collided with Willow's head. Anyway, it's all great stuff. That is one Buffy cliche that is entirely deserved.

Great update! :applause

Whoa! Scary.......I thought Willow was going to get voted off! That Faith.....sneaky sneaky. You gotta love her. I wonder what's going to happen. I'm really excited. I can't wait for the next update. I wonder who the Final Four will be? Willow/Tara/Faith/Kendra perhaps? So, I guess we know what car Willow is driving to get to Tara.....or do they not get the cars until after the winner is chosen? Probably not because then everyone would know that they won the car reward before that episode airs, right? Enough of that! :-D Great update.........I can't wait for the next one!

Again Debra, pure greatness. I am curious if Tara and Willow talked at all about the Buffy/Joyce info and Tara not telling her. I am sure they did just from where Willow was at the end of the last ep, but I wondered if it would be in there.

I think Willow is the next to go. I am still holding to the Juror #5 comment from the early update. I am guessing maybe Robin wins immunity and Tara/Faith/Kendra alliance is rock solid. Maybe Tara gives her a heads up. But with Robin having immunity, even if Tara and Willow vote together then Faith and Kendra are together to so Robin is a swing vote regardless. If that is the scenerio then I could see him voting with W/T as Faith lied to him in this update and Faith could get voted away, but I don't see it happening. I am picking Final 2 to be Kendra and Tara and seeing Kendra as the winner.

So am I right???

Hey, great update, and you really did have me going with the Faith thing :p but it was obvious that three votes were going the other way, so it wouldn't have mnade sense for her to do that and risk going herself. The challengies were cool, kinda makes me miss the UK version.

A fair bit of foreshadowing on the teaser, so if i'm right and that means that Willow is going, either Robin gets immunity or he, Faith and Kendra have agreed to oust Willow, Tara won't turn on Faith or Kendra i don't think so that is the way i see it going, if Tara knows that Willow is gone, she might tell her, it's happened in the past.

The challenge teaser would have me worried if we weren't getting the real life bits as well :p Speaking of, we get that to look forward to, yay.

Another wonderful update Debra!

Thanks for the FAQ, it made everything more clear.

The update was great. It's pretty obvious that Faith is willing to do everything what it takes to win the game. She would sell everyone!!!

Now Buffy's out. The next immunity-challenge will be crucial. If Robin wins the challenge Willow will be the next to be voted off.
If Willow wins (again), Robin's out.
But what if Tara, Faith or Kendra win? I think neither Faith nor Kendra would want a strong two-people-alliance (out of love) in the final four!

I'm pretty sure that Willow is the next to be voted off, if she cannot manage to win immunity! W/T are a too strong threat for everybody else in the F4!

Nice date, will we learn what happened in the hut at night in your next update??? Maybe Tara and Willow, after seeing the series remember that night together??

That was a great update. Things certainly seem to be tensing up, with lot's of cross and double cross and perhaps even a smidgeon of triple cross.

I'm not sure why Buffy was so upset about Willow choosing Tara. The fact they had an alliance (which was obviously deteriorating) for the main contest doesn't imply any sort of alliance when it comes to rewards. Besides it isn't the first time Willow and Tara have singled out the other for sharing rewards, so I'd say that Willow choosing Tara that time was something of a no brainer.

Maybe Buffy just really wanted that truck.

Regarding the vote, at first I was convinced that Buffy would be voted off but then when Faith was negotiating with Buffy and Robin I did start to wonder if Willow was going to be voted off. I guess that was the point, so well done :bow

The previews for the next episode are intriguing. Why is Tara watching Willow with disbelief? I guess she's upset about having to vote Willow off the island.

A superb update! I always find myself wanting more of the present-day Willow and Tara since there is the most amount of cuteness and smoochies together, but I do love the flashbacks as well. I guess the next update will be present-day, yes? Do you do one update per week, always on Wednesdays?

I really want to find out why W+T agreed not to talk for 3 months after the show was over. It reminds me of the book Curious Wine - Lane and Diana agreed not to talk or see each other for a month after their big affair in the ski lodge. Have you read that book, or is this just a coincidence?

Great stuff, as always. Faith is so sly.

I'm guessing that the final two are Willow and Tara, just FYI.

Bad Buffy! No casting aspersions on the Lovebirds! :punish That was a harsh comment. But she did seem to take her departure from the island in her stride, so maybe once she and Willow got together for that talk, things were sorted out between them, and hopefully she'll see she's got an apology to make to Tara, and do so. I'll say this for Buffy, as much as she takes things too seriously sometimes, she's got a big heart. No surprise that she was the one to go this episode.

Yay the Lovebirds (tm Watson) for winning their very own 4WDs! :party And their very own luxury Night of Passion too! Strategically, perhaps not the best choice - both being absent for the evening may have made them an obvious target for the luxury-deprived others to lay some plans against. But they were well-known as a couple already (except by Buffy - I get the impression that the other former MFashneks, with more exposure to W/T, have more belief that they're not just doing it for personal gain on the show), and they did bring back as much as they could swipe for their fellow survivors - I don't think their position is much worse. And let's be honest, even if it was a potentially-fatal move, I don't think either of them could have resisted the lure of luxury and each other's company.

Now, as for next week, Robin is the obvious target - as if he needed more proof that Faith's got the game in hand, he just saw her do a prime number on Buffy. But I wonder... is she too confident? She's been the de facto leader of the Faithful for practically the entire show, she may be feeling a little too safe in her position, now that it's essentially every hottie for herself (and Robin too). If I were Kendra, this would be when I'd think about following Brutus' example, while Julius Faith is taking it easy, certain in the knowledge that Robin will be the one to go. That's not taking immunity into account, of course.

As for what that means for the end game... well, I don't see Robin making it - he's too much the outsider, even when all alliances are out the window. Kendra, out of Faith's shadow, would be seen as a big threat. Willow's brain fu scares the hell out of everyone. Tara may make it into the final two, just by virtue of not being an immediate challenge threat to the others (though she's no slouch), and if that happens, my money's on her to win - in a jury vote, Tara's biggest strength, that people like her, comes into play.

cperrins78 – Sorry about the late update. I know I usually update in the morning (my time) but my life has become quite a bit more hectic. I’m just glad that I could get it up at all. (sound like a dirty joke doesn’t it?). Yeah it looked back for Willow there and I wasn’t trying to deliberately mislead but that’s the way the game goes. Glad you enjoyed it.

Yes, Willow and Tara definitely enjoyed their evening. I’d say that’s a pretty good date. Patience is a virtue… Thanks.

Watson – Hey there. You were online last night (my time). I usually think you’re online in the morning but you’ve got me all confused. Anyway, I read your comment right away and am glad I didn’t respond immediately since you then edited a bunch more in. Cool. Wow, that’s some amazingly bad English (mine, not yours).

Yeah, a great reward for sure. I always love the overnight type rewards and can’t believe that they didn’t have one in Palau. I mean it’s a great reward and everyone loves it and it gives a great chance for your competitors to plan to vote you off (look what happened to Gregg?). But they are always so posh and I love the idea of them cleaning up. (Ok, a big part of that is that I’m a well-known clean freak but still…).

I figure at this point in the game the editors would have lots of clips like this to choose from. I mean who wouldn’t want a good rest and shower and meal after 28 days of this? Yes, if neither wins the million, the trucks are very nice.

Did Willow take delivery yet? Is that the truck she is driving from Atlanta to Columbus in?
See the FAQs.

Willow asks as she brushes her hand along Tara’s arm.
You can give some credit to Patches. She’s kind of beta/writing workshopping with me and really helping me I think. Anyway, as I was editing that post I was thinking about what she said about showing rather than telling. I had it written something like, “Do you think there’s hot water?” she asked flirtatiously. But then I wanted to show that it was flirtatious and a little tender rather than telling it. (Thank you Patches) and that was how I changed it. I’m trilled that it was touching.

“Dance with me,”
To me there is little more sexy and sensual than a beautiful woman swaying softly to the music and holding out her hand for you to join her. That’s what I wanted to convey.

I’m glad you like the PG-13 version.

I guess for the women
Hmmm… That makes it sound like you’re not a woman. But you are right? Or I’m somewhat confused. Anyway, I’d be concerned about the cleanliness (or lack thereof) and the body hair because as I said: clean-freak. I also think that it’s important for other reasons like psychological strength. Did you ever see the Hustler? Paul Newman is playing Jackie Gleason (as Minnesota Fats). Newman is kicking Gleason’s butt and then Gleason goes to the bathroom. He washes his hands, his face, etc. and when he comes out he takes the Hustler for everything. I figure it’s got to be a little like that on the island.

I think the competitors really have a dangerous situation on their hands. They didn’t want Buffy in it because she’s very strong and very determined but they shouldn’t want Willow there either. But finally the alliances (and Faith’s planning) win out.

Her "overnight payment" remark is borderline out of order, IMHO.
It’s definitely way out of order but that doesn’t mean she wouldn’t make it. Keep in mind that she is there to try to save her butt but also to cast doubt on Tara and Willow both in the others’ minds.

Believe that the next update will feature lots of “Ariel-time.” I think everyone will be pretty pleased with it.

I tell ya, next Wednesday can't come quickly enough .
:rofl I’ll do my best to get the update up for you. How about a KAR update???

VixenyTarasHot – Thanks. It wasn’t so much trying to be sneaky as trying to show the way the game is played. I think that everyone there (with the exception of maybe Kendra) has to be sneaky to sustain their place. Keep in mind that third place pays NOTHING! So there’s definitely motivation to place in the top 2.

I’m so thrilled that you like the challenges. They are quite hard to write and make exciting so it really means something that I’m succeeding at it. Yes, the date was quite cute but of course CBS would make it PG-13 no matter what. Honestly, I gave it the -13 because of Faith’s comment. Otherwise, I’d have given it PG or G even. Yes, the next episode is quite scary in reading the next week isn’t it. Buwwwaaahhhhaaaahhh! Or something like.

Thanks for your comments.

watersong84 – Thanks. Yeah the date at the cabin would have been something don’t you think? Tee hee. Perhaps we’ll find out something about it in the future? Geez, I’m just evil aren’t I?

Glad you like the stylish yet affordable boots comment. You’re reading W/T S3 Y’all? For the first time or rereading? I’m thrilled to hear that. That scene in W/T S3 is probably my favorite in the entire story. Honestly it was the first scene to be born in my head and then I wrote the story around it. I always wanted that conflict between Angel/Willow/Faith when they didn’t know about each other. If you’re reading Y’all, then definitely read Paths next. It is my favorite of my stories. Let me know what you think when you are done. Thanks.

Tonto – Glad to have built the suspense. Faith is definitiely playing the game with a plan. She’s really working it and this time Buffy is her victim. Glad she’s coming off as lovable though, not evil. W/T/F/K is a very good guess.

See the FAQs about the car.

Thanks so much.

cooper – Thanks so much. I would say that they talked about it and it’s a non-issue at this point (the B/J secret). Keep in mind that it wasn’t really Tara’s secret: it was Buffy’s as far as betrayal goes.

Good guesses on the order of things and juror #5. Good guesses on the whole thing.

robotguru – Faith is nothing if not smart. She knows what she’s doing and she’s got a very good plan for the outcome. Sorry to worry you, wait a minute. No, I’m not. Thanks about the challenges. Again I say good guesses on what’s coming next.

The challenge teaser would have me worried if we weren't getting the real life bits as well
I totally agree with you about that. It makes it easier to write the island however I want given that we know W/T are together and in love in the parallel story. Thanks

Insanity – Thanks so much. I’m adding another FAQ on the car/truck thing. I probably should have started a FAQ bit long long ago but it didn’t occur to me. Maybe from now on, I’ll include a FAQ as the first post in a story thread so I can keep editing it. Hmmm…..Of course if I had done it on this one it wouldn’t work because the first post would be read-only on the new board so I guess it works out.

Yes, Faith is definitely playing the game. I would say that she and Buffy are playing the hardest but now that Buffy is out Faith is playing the hardest. I would also say that I believe there is a lot of suspicion among everyone left of whether the W/T relationship is all a game for both of them. Your guesses about the IC are very well founded. Unless a schism appears in the F/T/K alliance we can assume Robin or Willow will be leaving the island next. And of course as you point out, which is more dangerous: the W/T alliance (if one exists) or Robin’s physical prowess at challenges? They may have to decide.

Nice date, will we learn what happened in the hut at night in your next update???
Not the next update…

Thanks.

Justin – Well, it always gets that way down to the end. I mean there are now 5 people vying for a million dollars. I would imagine this is the time when you start thinking, “I could really win this thing!”

I agree about the reward challenge and Buffy’s reaction to it. I don’t even think that it was so much that she was mad about not being taken on the challenge; I’d say she was more mad at realizing that she had no hope for an alliance at this point. I think she was still hoping that Willow’s true alliance was to her and that she had a prayer. When Willow picked Tara, Buffy knew that she was done for unless she kept winning immunity or really pulled a rabbit from her hat.

Thanks.

SallyMcFine – Thanks so much for your loving the update. I agree that the present day W/T is far more fun and less angsty but I think they are a good compliment. See the FAQs about posting schedule.

I really want to find out why W+T agreed not to talk for 3 months after the show was over. It reminds me of the book Curious Wine - Lane and Diana agreed not to talk or see each other for a month after their big affair in the ski lodge. Have you read that book, or is this just a coincidence?
Yes! I definitely had that book in mind throughout thinking about this story. Anyway, I wasn’t trying to steal from that author but I definitely thought of that book. And yes there is a reason why they didn’t see each other until the premiere.

Thanks. Good guesses.

Artemis – Lol. Well, Buffy never really did get it about W/T did she? Buffy certainly did take her departure in stride. I think that she was really clear that her time was limited by the time the merge happened and certainly when Joyce was voted off. I mean it’s never a good sign if you look over at the jury and your last 3 remaining tribe mates are sitting there.

The car challenge is definitely the one to win. You get the car and usually a night at the movies or overnighter so Willow did well here. You’re right about the strategy being hard when you do it though as everyone else has the time to sit around and plot against you using their sour grapes.

I get the impression that the other former MFashneks, with more exposure to W/T, have more belief that they're not just doing it for personal gain on the show),
I’m not sure that is a good assumption. I think that the remaining people know that the girls aren’t completely uninterested in each other but they are also very very aware of the game. And they know that W/T are playing the game too. The swiping food is longstanding Survivor tradition. Anyone failing to do so would be completely ostracized I think.

I believe you are right about Robin being an obvious target next week. He’s very strong and knows that Faith is in it to win it. I also agree that if Kendra is thinking plotting she will try to get W/T to turn on Faith while W is still around. Otherwise it’s down to F4 and she’s in a battle. She and Robin would both theoretically be better off in a F4 with W/T than F/either.

now that it's essentially every hottie for herself (and Robin too).
Are you insane? Blind? Are you implying that Robin isn’t a hottie?

Good thoughts on the way the entire thing plays out.

littlecrazy80 – Thanks. Yeah, I was kind of tired of Buffy too.

Wow...talk about a tough crowd on that island. Yay for Willow AND Tara winning a truck though! And getting to spend a lovely night in the cabin. And getting to shave(you made them out to be WAY too excited about that...but then again I guess when you haven't shaved in FOREVER you'll come to enjoy it). I'm actually glad to see Buffy gone...she was almost TOO loyal for the show. Very naive of her thats for sure. Can't wait for more!! Your previews for next weeks 'show' looked quite intriguing.

debra, this was prob. my favorite island update yet, now that all the most obvious casualties have already happened it's even more interesting to watch these stronger players maneuver.
""Don't we all" faith mumbles into her bowl" :rofl you made me expand my emoticon usage with that line, seems a little pg-13 for cbs.
enjoyed willow's celebrating her challenge victory and hugging jeff, seemed like a very price is right moment (complete with a new car, even). and the image of w/t cruising in the truck, exhausted but slap-happy with adrenaline singing made up victory song~all of that just very lovely. then getting fed and clean and slow dancing in bath robes-what more could anyone want?
and yeah buffy sounded a little harsh, but i think it's more out of sensing her impending doom than anything else. i do think tara may have wasted an opportunity when kendra approached her by simply saying she had a glorious time and not trying to find out if anything happened in her absence.
"Jeff shouts, "Survivors Ready! Go!" and nothing happens", too too funny.
and i love that no matter what anyone guesses about the outcome, you're all "good guess". here's my guess for next island update, robin will have immunity and tara's facing having to vote against willow out of her loyalty to the original alliance. and no matter how wrong that may be you still say "good guess" won't you?
and finally, very cool about all the morning quality time you're getting to have with your son, sounds wonderful~mary

Another fantastic update. I never know what you've got planned for the immunity challenge outcome. I was so glad to see Buffy go. I love when they get blindsided like that. It leaves a real sting. I can't wait for th enext bit. Keep up the great writing. As always the scenes were smooth and your details gave a great perspective.

Thnaks for the update.

You know, Debra, you're playing this out SO like the show, and it's both impressive and maddenning. Buffy was such an obvious choice to be voted off that of course I overthought it. And your "alliances may be changed" is exactly the kind of thing the show does to keep people guessing. I know all this, and yet I STILL fall for it! Kudos to Elvis! Now, of course, I'm positive Willow's next, which means she probably isn't. *sigh*

The "date" was lovely...and I'm hoping it energizes Tara to go all the way (still assuming Willow's days are numbered). I'm curious about Kendra's reaction to Tara's admitting it was "wonderful, glorious, lovely." Not that her concern for Tara's loyalty isn't to be expected, but if she uses it to try and oust Tara too soon, it could bite her in the ass. Love to see Faith's gleeful admission of how she's playing people, and it really makes me look forward to seeing how this all ends up. Excellent!

Hey!

Loved this update! The cottage night prize was cute. And yay! Tara and Ariel now have a new truck! I'm debating about who should win. I do think that either Willow or Tara will be voted off soon. Not sure who though. And...I think the top three should probably be Willow, Tara and Faith. Guess we'll see. Robin should be voted off next and then Kendra. But...meh.

Hope to see an update soon!

stillrunning - :rofl Tough crowd! Certainly yay for the W/T truck and night in the cabin.
And getting to shave(you made them out to be WAY too excited about that...but then again I guess when you haven't shaved in FOREVER you'll come to enjoy it).
I’ll say again, I’m a clean and hygiene freak and that the lack of bathing (for myself and others) would rank near the top of the reasons I would never be able to go on a show like this. So yes, I was excited for the shaving. I think Buffy had to get gone or she’d be too much of a wildcard. Had to had to had to. Too dangerous to everyone because she was a loose cannon. Thanks for reading and commenting.

meretricious – Cool on the favorite. It ranks up there for me because of the complexity of the interpersonal relationships between everyone. And you are right about the stronger players. The first few off just have no darn chance and they are outmanned but at this point, any one could win it with the right move. Faith’s a riot huh?

Lol price is right. No one ever gets all excited and hugs Jeff and I don’t know why. I’m glad you liked the clean and the slow dancing in robes. Very nice huh? I agree that Buffy is so harsh because she knows she’s in danger and she doesn’t want to leave. You’re right about Tara’s missed opportunity although it’s entirely possible that she sat down to seriously plot with F/K but CBS didn’t show it to us.

and i love that no matter what anyone guesses about the outcome, you're all "good guess".
I added to the FAQ’s in honor of your observation. Take a look. :grin
Thanks.

Urn of Osiris – Thanks. I’m glad you’re liking the ICs and their outcomes. They are pivotal: that’s for sure. I agree about seeing a strong player eliminated like that. What I don’t like is when the reason that she seems blindsided is because of the CBS heavy-handed editing. It’s like when a mystery writer doesn’t give the reader all the clues that she has. But in this case, Buffy really was blindsided. Thanks so much for your comments about the writing. I really appreciate it. Thank you.

Irene73 – Hey there. Everyone is well. We’d be better if the neighborhood pool would open since it was 92 out today. The pool has cracks though so it’s a few months late. Asher got over that dog water thing after a few days of driving me crazy. Oh, Ash is the same way with the dogs and he really wants to catch cats when we go visit. Not really something cats like.

Ha ha about Buffy. Don’t you know that the Stones said you can’t always get what you want? Hey, I’ll defend Willow myself. She moved up and out from Akathla and she’s more interested in #1 Tara and #2 playing the game in stronger alliance. Again I’m glad that someone likes the brush along the arm. Makes me feel good.

Hmmm… Buffy and ranting and raving. Don’t you know it’s all about her? Seriously, I love BtVS and love Buffy but she was always so incredibly self-involved. So you didn’t like Faith’s smugness huh? Interesting. Good guesses on the who next.

Thanks.

Cam – Like the show? I’ll take that as a compliment. It does drag doesn’t it? Glad you liked the mild misdirect on Buffy although I still contend it was Faith, not me doing the misdirection.

Hmmm… wanting Tara to go all the way. Haven’t you read the RL updates? Lol. Glad you like the Faith parts. Thanks.

Always410 – Hey back. Glad to see comments from you. Yes, the night at the cottage is quite important. Good guesses. Thanks.

Hey Debra! :)

That update was absolutely great. I think it really showed how things are getting quite dirty out there, especially with Faith running the show. I never really thought Buffy'd take it.. sorry Buffster!

Faith on the other hand, is a different story. I mean, on one hand, she has a strong alliance with the girls, and she's sticking to it - but on the other, she's really strong, in everything really - and that's why the people around her might consider her too much of a threat and betray her, shoot her down. I do think though that she has a lot of power over the players, and that's something definately not to be taken lightly. Either way, my bet is either Faith or Willow. Faith, because well, if they don't get her soon enough, she's gonna eat alive everyone there. lol. Will's mainly because, well, 1) I want her to! lol, I really want her to, and 2) She fucking deserves it! that's what I think. I mean, yes, the Buffy deal was kind of backstabbing I guess, but I really didn't see it that way. I mean, I think in a way, Buffy should've known she wasn't strong with Willow after everything that has happend - and to prove why I think Willow doesn't play dirty is that as opposed to, oh say, Faith, she never made Buffy believe she's on her side when she was eventually asked. So basically, I think Will should take it. hehe.

wow, that was long! oh and that also just made me wonder about that thing with faith calling and Ariel wanting her to come to Will's bday party, and Will not so sure she'd want that.. I mean, she just seemed kinda reluctant, and I'm thinking it's more from Faith's side than Willow's side, why she doesn't want to. I mean, I think Will somehow made Faith really pissed off near the end. Hmm. I bet that day with the W/T mess, they made some kind of super alliance and when push comes to shove, they'll just just turn against everyone and try voting them off. Me, specualting? No way. :lol

Okay, wow, I somehow managed to get it longer. lol. Anyway, lovely update. woohoo! I can't wait to see what happens next.

Wow that chapter was super action packed! Go Willow with her puzzle solving skills. Loved the cabin part and the matching trucks, of course Willow is going to pick Tara. Best friend or love of your life? (Soon to be that is :-D) Come on Buffy that should've been a no-brainer. Hee-hee. Next vote-off is a tough call, the preview you gave us kind makes me think Tara has the deciding vote and does have to choose her alliances or Willow. Tara came to the island to play to win just like every one else, and although money isn't everything she ought to stick to her game plan. Although if it goes down that way I wouldn't want to be in her shoes, or sandals or whatever one wears on an island. Hee-hee. :-D
