• Ch. 3: Mocha-y Goodness
Robyn slowly opened her eyes and looked to her alarm clock. The red-lit letters told her she had an hour before she was to meet up with Tara for coffee at eight. She rolled her self up out of bed, and hit the floor. Hard. ‘Damn! Why do I keep forgetting that my bed is higher then my waist. Owie! Where is my stepladder?’ She sat up and saw that it was only two inches from where she had put her foot. ‘God, I am dumb!’ She shrugged and get ready for the day, and reached the Espresso Pump with out further damage to her body or pride, and then walked into the wall of the coffee shop.
“Robyn!” Tara yelled as she ran over to the now dizzy girl. “Are you okay?”
“Only if you define okay by having a headache and being really dizzy, then yeah,” she answered as she checked her head for bumps.
“Come on and sit down.” She led Robyn to the table, which held her Mocha and her purse. “Any better?”
“Um, yeah. It’s just another Robyn klutzy moment, patient pending.”
“Ooookay. Well, would you like me to get you something?”
“Venti Mocha with extra chocolate syrup and whipped cream.”
“That’s what me and Willow get!”
“Kick-ass!” With that Tara went and got Robyn some mocha-y goodness.
        “Here ya go.”
“Thanks,” she took a sip, “Hmmm…Chocolate.”
“No problem. So as the dizzy spell ended?”
“Yup, but dang, I am just a total spazz this morning. First I fell out of my bed, and then the wall thingy, God I’ve only been up for an hour!”
“You poor thing. Well, at least you weren’t drunk.” Tara shrugged with a half smile.
“True. But it’s things like that, that keep me from getting totally smashed! I would probably walk off a cliff!”
        “Naah, just into several walls…”
“Ow, that hurt, right here,” she pointed to her heart.
“So moving on, how bad was Jason Friday night?”
“Baa-add,” Robyn replied between giggles. “He just kept going on about how he loved my body…which is sad cause he’s never seen it! I mean his face in my chest was the furthest he’s gone. Not that that was bad, just not quite how imagined it.”
        “Wow,” Tara giggled, “I’m sorry.”
“Thanks, but then he started singing about them-”
“A odd little ditty sung to the tune of Jingle Bells?” Robyn nodded.
“Jiggle Boobs.” They both said together and started laughing, loud.
“And then, the buzz wore off and he was all icky and he begged me to lay down with him. I did, and then he suddenly got serious, and he began telling me what he loved about me and then he said “I love y-” and passed out!”
“Oh my god! Was he gunna say ‘I love you’?”
“I think but I don’t know. He asked me what he had said to me the next day and I told him everything, except that last thing,” she looked down at her drink.
“Why? I thought you wanted to know if he loved you, and wanted to hear him say it,” she raised her eyebrow in a questioning gesture.
“I did. I mean I do,” she looked her in the eye.
“Then why didn’t you say anything?”
“Well, I just wanted him to mean it. Not just say it or deny it to cover for his drunken exclamation. I mean it’s not exactly that romantic! I our first kiss was, so shouldn’t our first declaration of love be the same way? Besides, it not like he finished the sentence, I mean he could have something else.”
        “What could he have said?”
“Yolks, Yodeling, Ukulele, Uranium.” She buried her head in her hands.
“Why would he have said any of those things?”
“Well, they seemed logical Saturday morning!”
“Robyn…” replied Tara in a motherly tone. Robyn looked back up.
“Well, it did. And it’s not as clear to see what he feels, like you guys!”
“Us? Like me and Willow?” Tara was taken back.
“Yeah, it is obvious to any one with eyes that you two are completely in love. The way you guys look at each other, like no one else exists, the way you are with one another, and you guys are so cute. But with Jason I just don’t know!” she sighed, “I think I love him, but I just can’t figure him out. Hell, I can even figure out if I love him! I never could figure anyone out. I’m emotionally retarded, when it comes to my own relationships. I can help others, be the word of reason, but I can help myself? No!” she ran her hand through her hair and let it fall back down.
Tara just sat there for a few minutes digesting everything her friend had just said. Robyn was sitting there quiet staring at her drink.
“You are blind,” Tara said, breaking the silence.
        “What?” Asked Robyn softly.
“You. Blind. You said any one with eyes can see what Willow and I have, which was sweet by the way, but they can see it with you guys too. I think you don’t see it because you only see the way he looks at you. You don’t see how he sees the rest of us. I have, and he only sees you. The only other time I’ve seen any one look at any one like that is when Willow looks at me.”
        “Oh.” Robyn replied.
“And as for whether or not you love him, you just need to take a step back and think about how he makes you feel, and how you feel when you’re with him.”
“I dunno. It’s just I,” she paused, “I just, oh hell. I can’t tell if what I feel is normal or just a fluke or what. I mean, how does Willow make you feel?”
“Why do you want to know?”
“I guess, like an example, just something to compare my feelings with? I know everyone is different, but if it’s even remotely like that then… Not that it is, I am, but I have been trying to sort all of this out for quite some time, and to know would be fabulous!”
“Well, I guess it’s best to start from the beginning. When we first saw each other, ours eyes met, and I felt this connection to her right away, and through out the whole meeting we kept catching each other’s glances. Then after hanging out a few times, I started to think about her all of the time, she was in my dreams too. When I see her my heart starts to race and the only time I ever could calm back down was when we touched. But that led to another kind of excitement. But it just seems that I can’t spend enough time together-” Tara was then cut of by Robyn
“And when your in their arms, you feel all warm and safe, like the matter what happens, as long as your in those arms, nothing will ever be painful or hard, or at least any bad things seem easier to handle. You get lost in those green eyes and never wanna leave. You play what they say to you over and over again in your head just to hear their voice. The thought of them as brings a smile to your face….” Robyn paused, and then her eyes bulged out of her head as the realization of her heart’s desire hit her like a soccer ball to the face. “I LOVE HIM!!!!!” she yelled. Everyone one around them stopped talking and turned to face the source of the outburst. “Don’t mind me, I’m special,” Robyn explained. Everyone returned to their previous activities.
“Like the little yellow school bus.”
“Yup. I gotta go. Bye.” Robyn got up and hugged Tara. “Thank you.”
“Anytime.” With that Robyn ran out of the café. Tara sighed, “Aw, that’s so sweet… What are you doing back here?” she looked up to see a breathless Robyn sitting back down.
“I just remember that it’s only nine o’clock and Jason won’t be awake for another four hours,” she lightly chucked.
        “He sleeps in till one?”
        “On a good day yeah.”
“And here I thought Willow was a late riser at eleven.”
“Nope, she’s got nothing on Jason’s sleeping habits. Trust me. But I have a question for you.”
        “What?”
“How did you become so wise in the ways of figuring out the ways of love?”
“Sweetie, I’m lesbian that fell in love with my friend who was straight when we first met, and she just came out of a bad breakup. Believe me, it took a lot of sleepless nights to figure out what I wanted, and then if she wanted.”
“Well, as a benefactor of your struggle, I have to say that I’m glad that you’ve been in my position before. I just wish you had had the cool friend to help like I did.”
“Thanks. But I just happy I was able to help with some of your angst, I hate to see people confused and/or upset.”
“I’m happy about that… HEY! You haven’t told me about Willow’s behavior on Friday night.”
“I told you she sang Jiggle Boobs.”
“Yeah, but that’s not everything! So you have to tell. I did!”
“Alright. Well, getting her home was a royal pain. She couldn’t stand up straight-”
“I thought you were happy about her non-straightness?” Robyn giggled. Tara gave her a stern look, and then giggled.
“Yes, well, any waaay. We finally got home, and all could talk about was my ‘assets’. Hell, we didn’t even make it up the stairs without her being all gropey, Not that I’m complaining. Cause, I’m not. But I was worried about me taking advantage of her.”
“You taking advantage?! But she was with the gropey!” she paused, “OH! I get it.” Tara quirked an eyebrow.
        “And just how is that?”
“Jason, and with the comments, and his apparently wandering hands, and let’s just say, I was almost glad he went to sleep.”
        “Almost?”
“Ummm…” Robyn’s face blushed to a whole new shade of red. “I umm, yeeaaahh, umm, so b-back to your story.”
“But, she just kinda hit the bed and passed out. But the next morning, man, she had a terrible hangover. My poor baby.”
        “But she’s feeling better?”
“Yeah, but I think she’s learned her lesson.”
“No kidding, Jason was totaled the next morning, but amazingly he was awake before me!”
“No way, I thought you said he was a late riser?”

“He is, but when I woke up, I caught me watching me sleep.”
“And you couldn’t figure out if he was in love with you?” Tara looked at Robyn incredulously. Robyn just smacked her forehead.
“Wow, you’re right, I am stupid.”
“I didn’t say stupid, I said blind, but stupid does cover a lot of it.”
“Fun-ny! You kno-” Robyn’s cell phone rang. “okay, I’ll just answer my phone and then come back with a comeback. Hee hee come back comeback,” she answered her phone. “Hello? Who’s this?”
        “Hey, it’s Jason.”
“Hi sweetie, what are you doing up?” Tara mouthed ‘Jason?’, Robyn nodded.
“Nice to talk to you too. But seriously, I need to talk to you. Where are you?”
“I’m at the Espresso Pump with Tara, remember?”
“Oh yeah, then never mind. I’ll just catch you later. Bye.”
“Bye.” He hung up. “Well, that was odd.”
        “Why?”
“He said he needed to talk to me, but then when I reminded him I was here, he changed his mind,” she shrugged.
        “That is strange.”
“You know what’s really strange? The fact that I ran into you two here,” piped in Willow as she walked up next to Tara and gave her a sweet kiss on the lips. Robyn giggled.
        “Awwww, that’s sooo sweeeeet.”
“Hey! No mocking of the love!” replied Willow.
“Hey, I’m serious! See what I meant with the obvious cuteness there Tara?”
“Hmm sure, whatever,” a slightly dazed Tara answered. Robyn giggled harder.
        “I think you broke her.”
“I did not. I would never break her, well, not in public anyway.”
“I didn’t need to hear that. So, umm yeah.”
“Willow, sweetie, not that I mind, but what are you doing here?”
“Is it a crime to stop and get Mocha-y Goodness before I go to the library to study, at the very same place you told me you would be at this exact time? Pfft!” she waved her hand in dismissal.
“Yup, which means you will be punished.” Tara replied huskily.
“Again, with the I don’t wanna know,” Robyn proclaimed.
“What, the lesbian sex talk freaking you out?” asked Tara jokingly.
“No, it’s not that, it’s just that when it comes to family and friends, I would much rather be informed by blurry watercolors, not digital photos. Believe me, baaad experiences.”
        “Bad? How bad?” asked Tara.
“Let’s just say that hearing about how far my little brother and his ex-girlfriend got, from her herself, is not the best way to start a new year.” she shuttered. “Eww. Okay, I need to repress.”
“I second that ew,” said Willow.
“I third it,” chimed in Tara. “So, Willow, since you’re already here, care to join us?”
        “Yes, please do,” insisted Robyn.
“Okie-Dokie. So, what were you ladies discussing before I got here?”
“Nothing,” both Robyn and Tara answered together faying innocence.
“Then why do I get the feeling that that nothing is spelled s-o-m-e-t-h-i-n-g?”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” replied Tara. At this time Robyn started humming ‘jingle bells’ and Tara joined in.
“Whaaaaaa….” Willow eyes bulged out of her head as she started to blush. “I really sang that didn’t I?”
“Yes, yes you did,” answered Tara.
“So, did you and Jason make it up all bye yourselves?” inquired Robyn.
“Umm, yeah,” she blushed even harder. “Speaking of Jason, isn’t that him running this way right now?” she pointed past Robyn shoulders.
“What? Here?” Robyn turned to see Jason running down the street as fast as his legs could carry him, and into the coffee shop. He jumped a railing and jogged up to their table.
“Hell,” he gulped in some much needed oxygen as he hunched over, “-o!”
“Umm, Hi?” greeted Robyn. “What are you doing here?”
“I had to,” he took a few heavy breathes, “tell you that,” he took a deep breath, as he straightened up and look her right in the eye, “I love you.” Her eyes got big. Willow put her arm around Tara, as the couple watched the blossoming love before them. He continued, “Everything about you, your eyes, your smile, the way you talk, and yes especially about something you love, like soccer, the way you walk, the way you play soccer, it’s breath-taking, your wit, the way you laugh at something truly funny, and the laugh for my lame jokes, and especially your heart. I love all of you, the beautiful one with a ‘y‘,” she smiled as she chuckled at his nickname for her, as he waited her response.
Her smile grew as she placed her right hand on his check, light tracing his lips with the pad of her thumb, and then gently placed a sweet kiss on his lips. Their lips met sweetly in a kiss that expressed more then words ever could. To an outsider the kissed may have only lasted a few seconds, but to the lovers, it was a blissful eternity. Robyn then pulled back, only to briefly kiss him again, and then fully pulled back. “I love you, Jason. So much.”
A smile engulfed his face, and he stepped back jumped up into the air, “WOO WHOO!”
“Definitely Woo and Whoo,” Robyn sighed as Jason wrapped his arm around her.
“Now that’s sooo cute!” whispered Tara as she turned to Willow.
“They remind me of a younger us, only a straight version of us.”
“I was worthy of a leaping Woo whoo?” asked Tara.
“Every time, baby, every time.” Willow answered as she took Tara’s lips in a loving kiss.
