who stole the ketchup?

Postby MissKittys Ball O Yarn » Mon Aug 09, 2004 8:17 pm

Ohhh Jeanne that was wonderful. I love the pointed way Tara answered Xander's question about whether or not she has a girlfriend, I think she got her point across in letting Willow know she's definitely available. Also, I absolutely love the dialog between Julia and Lydia; It's so realistic. It really touches on the close relationship between the twins. Also its interesting how the girls have opposite reactions to Tara's presence...It seems to me that Tara is going to have her work cut out for her, in regards to winning Julia's affection.

Oh and PS... *Pointing to myself* I inspired a whole scene?? :blush No way! getouta here! :stop ...well...okay...don't stop...in fact..please continue! :p cause I totally love this story! :luv

Oh...and....also...

:fit2 <---------- Of course he'd be my soul-mate...I mean..come on...look at him for Godsake he's got arms!! :lol Thats just *Laughing* The funniest darn thing I've ever seen! *laughing* He's got...*Laughing* Arms! *slapping thigh in humorous fashion* and did you see the way his mouth jibber jabbers?? :laugh who wouldn't love that??

I can't wait for the next part of your fic! Cause it's :cool

Im gonna agree with raven on the kids.

Julia's alot like Oz and Lydia's alot more like Willow. Its cute.

Once again, I love this story.

Redheads are the cutest things alive, Anya's child loves bunnies, and Tara's still single (of course. How could she replace Willow? Well, not that she couldnt because Im sure there would be lesbians lined up around the block for Tara, but more like she wouldnt...and Im writing all this in little () thingies...)

Ok, just read the first few parts of this fic and I'm afraid I might be addicted! I've read lot of completed fics, but I rarely follow ones in progress, but yours seems way too good to wait for it to be finished. Now that I'm into it all I can do is hope you UPDATE SOON!

Hello dear kittens, :wave

Wow! So much feedback again. Thank you so much to everyone, your words mean so much to me. :flower

RaVeN: A-ha, someone figured it out. Julia is indeed more like Oz, where Lydia is, obviously, a mini-Willow. I'm glad I managed to convey that difference without having to make it glaringly obvious.

Thanks for the feedback.

Irishgrl3: More coming soon, glad you're still enjoying it.

I'm glad you liked the Julia/Lydia interaction.

Xander's great isn't he? I love that his character has no problem asking those personal questions that everyone wanted to know the answer to. I think that was the answer everyone was hoping for too. :D

LizPuRR: Thanks for the feedback.

Willow/Tara action will happen eventually, but, I'm afraid you'll have to wait a little while longer, okay?

Sam: Thanks for the feedback, I'm glad you thought the last 2 updates were great.

Shuyaku: Yep, Lydia is very perceptive. I kind of needed her to be perceptive, & smart too (like her mommy).

More very soon.

Emms: I love reading your feedback, it's always so enthusiastic & sweet. :)

Tara certainly did get her point across didn't she? Kinda makes you want to go 'Yay! :bounce They're both single!'

I'm glad you found the twins dialogue realistic. I wanted to show that, while the twins are rather different, they're still very close & they do have some similarities.

Having Julia not warm instantly to Tara seemed like such an interesting idea. In most fics, all children adore Tara right from the word go, & Tara's great with kids, so I agree that kids are gonna adore her. But I was thinking and I thought 'Well, what if one of them doesn't like her straight away?' So I decided to have a little play around with that idea.

Yes, your feedback did inspire a whole scene. It's all written & in place, but we're not gonna get to it for a while. I'll let you know when we get to it.

You know, I considered what you said about this guy ===> :fit2 , and I watched him have a little rant for a few minutes, & I have to say, I completely understand why he'd be your soul-mate. He's great isn't he?

alysagoddess85: I'm glad you liked the twins interaction & the whole 'analysing the situation' thing.

I just had to have Ryan love bunnies, I mean, what little boy doesn't love bunnies? Plus, I had a mental image of how Anya would react to that fact & it amused me.

Phew, so glad you thought the Willow/Xander stuff was believable. I did have fun writing their little banter. The questions were necessary, & who better than Xander to ask?

BH: Beautiful update? :blush Thanks.

I'm glad Xander's channeling of Anya made you laugh.

Thanks for the feedback, more coming soon.

Sharleen: I love the kids too. In fact, I have yet to find anyone who doesn't love those kids.

More Willow & Tara coming up very soon.

SoL: Thanks for your kind feedback.

Willow wasn't exactly smart when she chose Oz, but hopefully in future updates I can explain her decision.

You're right, our girls will have lots of fun in the next few updates. ;) How did you guess?

Ryan's lovely isn't he? So much like his dad, & I'm pretty sure he's always gonna be a little kid at heart.

Arwen: TOO cute? Not too cute that you stop reading I hope. :pray

You're right, to err is human (& I'll explain Willow's decision in future updates); to forgive, divine (& Tara certainly is divine) :)

BWR: Yay! Someone else got the whole Julia - Oz, Lydia - Willow thing.

Cute redheads; the humour of Anya's child liking rabbits; & Tara's single... What more could you want from a fic?

& I agree with your little ()-y babble. While I'm sure there were many, many lesbians lined up for Tara, none of them could take Willow's place.

Sapphic: Oops, sorry to get you addicted. I promise to provide many lovely updates for you to feed your addiction. Okay? :)

It means so much to me that you think my fic is too good to wait to read.

Okay all you lovely kittens, another update coming up later on today. Stay tuned

Hugs

Jeanne

Okay, so who wants a bit of Willow & Tara sweetness?

Everyone? Hmm, okay, lets see what I can do for you....

_______________________________________________________________________________

After packing away their picnic and buying the children ice-pops, Xander, Willow and Tara decided that it was time to head home. Walking along, each child seemed to allocate themselves an adult to walk with. Ryan clung tightly to his father’s hand; Julia claimed her mommy’s hand and Lydia had shyly asked if Tara would hold her hand, smiling brilliantly as Tara gently slipped her hand into the little girls own.

“Daddy, can I have a bunny?” Ryan asked for the eighth time since leaving the playground.

“Your mom doesn’t like them Ry.”

“But, they’re cute and their noses do this.” The little boy scrunched up his nose in his best impression of a rabbit.

“Yeah, and they give good hugs, and eat lettuce and other yucky green stuff.” Julia jumped in, trying to aid Ryan’s case.

“Good points, all, and if it was up to me you could have a pet rabbit. But Ryan, your mom really doesn’t like them.”

“Oh. Can I have a frog?” The little boy compromised.

“Eeewww, frogs are horrible. They’re all slimy and they hop about all over with their big bulgy eyes. And, and they make those big mean croaky noises, and their tongues just whip out really fast and really long. Then there’s the way that they can’t decide where to live, I mean, you’re not safe anywhere. They’ll get you if you’re in the water and they’ll get you if you’re on the ground.” Lydia, who shared her mother’s fear of frogs, shuddered as she babbled on about all of the things that she hated about the small amphibians.

“You are so much like your mommy.” Tara voiced her thoughts to the little girl affectionately. “Absolutely adorable.” She finished the thought, looking straight at Willow as she did so.

Willow simply blushed.

“Well, this is our stop.” Xander pointed out as they neared his front garden. “I’ll see you at Buffy’s tomorrow Will?”

“Yup, five ‘o’ clock sharp. Don’t be late Xand; you know how much Dawn’s been stressing about this thing.”

“No worries Will, I won’t let the Dawnster down.” Turning to Tara, Xander once again engulfed the blonde in a friendly hug. “Tara, it’s been great catching up, don’t be a stranger okay?”

“I, I’ll try not to be.” Tara smiled gratefully.

“I’ll see you tomorrow Ry. Don’t pester your mom about a rabbit too much okay?” Willow winked conspiratorially at her nephew.

“Okay. Bye auntie Will. Bye Lee-lee, bye Jool-ya, bye Tara.” The little boy called out as he ran down the garden path to the front door.

After walking in a slightly nervous silence for a few minutes, Tara decided to initiate some kind of conversation with Willow.

“So uhm, w-what’s tomorrow?”

“Oh, Dawn’s big day. She’s bringing her girlfriend, oh no, sorry, her fiancée, home to meet us all. Buffy’s already met her and seems to like her.”

“L-little Dawnie has a fiancée?” Tara exclaimed in disbelief.

“Yeah, she’s not so little any more. She’s just graduated from UCLA, that’s where she met Kate, a fellow law student.”

“Dawn’s a lawyer?”

“Not just yet, no. But, she’s well on her way.”

“Wow, s-so much has changed. You have kids; Xander and Anya a-are married with a second child on the way; Dawn’s gay, and engaged, and almost a lawyer. What else is d-different?”

“Uhm, actually I think that’s everything. Buffy’s still Buffy, she teaches gym at the new high school. Oh, and Giles moved back to England. There was some kind of a coo at the watcher’s council and he ended up taking over as the big boss. He came over for Dawn’s graduation, but he only stayed a few days. He said he’d come back for longer when Anya has the baby.”

Several gentle drops of rain began to fall, interrupting the two wiccans’ conversation.

“Mommy it’s raining!” The twins called out, running down the street towards their house.

Before Willow and Tara had the sense to move the heaven’s opened and the gentle rain drops became a heavy downpour. Before she realised what she was doing, Tara reached out to grab Willow’s hand and the two women ran to Willow’s house.

“Get the key mommy, quickly, open the door.”

Once on the relatively dry front porch Willow set down the picnic basket and fumbled around in her pockets for the door key. Finally locating her keys she opened the door and everyone quickly stumbled into the house just as a loud clap of thunder roared through the darkened sky.

After ensuring that Lydia and Julia were both nice and dry, Willow turned her attention to an extremely wet and shivering Tara.

“Well, it looks like you’re stuck here for a while. That’s not a problem is it? I mean, I can call you a taxi if there’s somewhere you need to be?”

“N-no, I was just gonna go home and w-watch some TV.” Tara assured Willow that she was happy to spend more time with her and the girls.

“Okay, good. Oh, look at you, you’re all wet and cold; you need to get dried up. Erm, the bathroom is just upstairs, the, the first door on your left, there should be plenty of towels in there. You can borrow some of my clothes if you want, while we dry yours off.”

“Uhm, Will. Y-you’re kinda soaked too. Aren’t you gonna d-dry off?”

Finally taking in her own appearance, Willow realised that she was in fact, soaked to the skin.

“Oh, I am a bit wet aren’t I? Okay, so we both need to get dried up. Uhm, Julia can you turn the heating on please baby? Then, why don’t you two put on a DVD or something while Tara and I go get changed.”

“Okay mommy.” The twins answered in unison.

Tara followed Willow up the stairs, noting the pictures of Lydia and Julia which ran along the wall.

“Cute pictures.” The blonde commented.

“Well, I’m a little biased, but, yeah they are.” Willow smiled a smile full of maternal pride. “Every year Buffy and Dawn club together and pay for them to go to a professional shoot for their birthday. The twins love it; they get to play dress up and pretend to be models for an afternoon.”

“Sounds like fun.”

“Yep, lots of fun.”

Entering the bathroom Willow located a number of towels, and then left Tara to get dried while she went to look for some dry clothes.

A few minutes later Willow was dry and changed, she knocked softly on the bathroom door.

“Tara, I, I have some dry clothes for you. Shall I uhm… I’ll just, leave them outside the door and…” Before she could finish her sentence Tara, dressed just in Willow’s fluffy yellow bath rode, opened the bathroom door and reached for the clothes.

“Thanks Willow, I, I r-really appreciate this.”

“Oh it’s uhm, just some, some err, sweat pants and a, a sweater. It’s no biggie.” The redhead was slightly dumbfounded by the sight of Tara in the rather short robe, her smooth, creamy legs on show. “You, uhm, you can bring your clothes down and I’ll put them in the drier, wet towels go in the hamper.” Willow quickly retreated down the stairs in order to stop herself from staring at (and drooling over) Tara’s legs.

Oh yes, there was definite sweetness.

The frog fear babble had me :lmao . I guess it's hereditary.

Oh my, when they went upstairs to dry off, I had this vision of mutual drying of each other, but that's just how my mind works.

Still, the nice visions came back at the thought of Tara in the short robe. I'd probably have done some hasty retreating too if I were Willow, if my legs would've worked. :eyebrow

Simply brilliant! :pride What better way to get them together than a rain storm. I couldn't have done it better myself. Now they're all wet...and of course they have to dry off, All that's missing is a few candles and some soft music, but i'm sure you'll take care of all that. :D

Hello dear, sweet kittens, :wave

Oh my goodness, there's so much praise in this thread. All your wonderful, encouraging words mean so very much to me. Thank you all so much :flower

Arwen: I'm glad to hear you're still enjoying it. More coming very soon.

LizzPuRR: Thanks for the feedback. Smoochies will be happening soon & I'll make sure they're worth the wait ;)

Wimpy: Sweetness is great isn't it? More sweetness on the way.

Glad you liked the frog babble. It was rather weird to write that, 'cos, I quite like frogs. So, I'm relieved that you feel I pulled it off.

Mutual drying of one another? With the twins just downstairs? That would have been rather risky don't you think?

Ah, the 'Tara in a short robe' image is rather nice isn't it?

Sapphic: You know, I'm glad you thought the frog babble was Willow. It means that I'm writing Lydia to be a perfect mini-Willow.

I hope the update is soon enough for you to not be suffering withdrawals.

Sam: Thanks for saying that the last update was beautiful. :blush

Yep, Dawn's getting married. Yipes - that means I have to write a wedding doesn't it? Oh, that's gonna be so much fun :D

WickedReds: I'm glad you love Ry, he's very lovable isn't he? & can you really blame Willow for staring at Tara's legs?

Smoochies will be happening in a few updates.

RaVeN: Yes, you were right, :clap & feel free to bask in that knowledge for as long as you like. :)

Aww, you're so sweet, saying you'll wait for snuggles & kisses 'cos the fic's so cute. Thank you for your kind words.

JustSkipIt: Oh my, I was so excited to receive feedback from you. I consider you to be one of my favorite authors & your praise means so much to me. I hope you continue to enjoy my fic.

The kids are great aren't they?

Emms: :no Naughty kitten, sneaking out of bed just to read my update. It still would have been there when you felt better (which I hope you are now). But seriously though, it means a LOT to me that you love my fic THAT much. :D

Don't you just love rain storms? Their so convenient, & do you know? I think that storms gonna last quite a while.

Soft music & candles? Sounds perfect, but, not with Julia & Lydia there (they're adorable, but I think they'd spoil the romance a bit). Maybe later on... ;)

Smiley face porn? :hmm That's either a stroke of genius, or complete insanity. I hear there's a fine line between the two, so, maybe it's both.

So, that's one vote for Ryan to get a bunny. I'll see what I can do.

Watersong: Oh yeah, Willow is so right to stare at Tara's legs... :drool

We will learn what Tara's been doing for the past 8 years, but, can you wait a little while longer?

SoL: Yeah, Lydia fell in love with Tara, & really, can you blame her?

Yep, Dawn with a girlfriend & almost a lawyer. It just seemed so, right for Dawn, don't know why. :confused

Irishgrl3: Ah, cute little Ryan wants a bunny. Do you think Anya would let him have one? :hmm

Glad you like Dawn's little back-story.

& yep, Tara's stuck at Willow's. Thank god for rain. :D

alysagoddess85: Rain is great isn't it?

Everyone seems to like that Ryan wants a bunny.

& I'm glad you think Dawn being a lawyer seems right. I don't know why, but I've always thought that Dawn would become a lawyer.

Okay you lovely, sweet kittens. I'll post an update very, very soon for you.

Hugs

Jeanne

____________________________________________________________________________________

An hour and a half later the storm showed no signs of easing off.

Tara and Willow sat at either end of the couch with Lydia and Julia sat between them, a large blanket wrapped around them all. They happily watched Beauty & The Beast, the twins occasionally quoting lines along with the characters and singing along to all the songs.

A brief glance at the clock confirmed what Willow’s stomach was trying to tell her; it was time to get something to eat.

“Dinner-time girls, what do you want?”

“Pizza!” Lydie and Jules called out enthusiastically.

“Okay. You feel like take-out Tara?”

“Oh, yeah sure, thanks.”

“No problem, you wanna share a veggie with me? I can never eat a whole one to myself.”

“That sounds good.”

“Great. Kids, what topping do you want?”

“Pepperoni, with fries too please.” Julia answered for the both of them.

Willow moved to the phone and ordered the pizzas, which were delivered by a drenched and rather disgruntled delivery guy 25 minutes later. Willow gingerly apologised to the young man and gave him a very generous tip.

Once the pizzas and fries had been shared out and drinks had been made everyone squashed around the small coffee table and happily dug in to their meal.

Whilst they ate Willow marvelled at how effortlessly and perfectly Tara seemed to fit into her little family. And for the first time in eight years, Tara felt as if she was exactly where she was meant to be. Being with Willow and the twins just felt so… right.

After pizza, ice-cream and another movie it was Julia and Lydia’s bed-times.

Once they were washed and in their PJs, they were sent downstairs to tell Tara goodnight. Julia simply gave Tara a quick hug and a muttered ‘Goodnight’. Lydia however jumped onto Tara’s lap and wrapped herself around the blonde’s torso.

“Will you take me to bed please Tara?” The little girl requested softly

“Of course honey.” Tara agreed, touched by Lydia’s actions and words. Making sure she had a tight grip on the youngster, Tara stood and carried Lydie up the stairs.

“Right, which room is yours?”

“It has a purple door with mine and Julia’s names painted on it in gold and silver letters.”

----------------------------------

Behind said door Willow was tucking Julia into bed.

“Mommy, do you love me and Lydie?”

“Of course I do my little princess. With all of my heart.”

“Will you always love us?”

“Every day for the rest of forever.”

Sensing her daughter’s need for reassurance, Willow cocooned the little girl in a warm hug. After a few moments of silence Julia spoke in a quite, uncertain voice.

“Lydia said that you love Tara.”

“Oh? I do? I mean, she did?” Willow was taken aback by her youngest daughter’s assumption. “And how would Lydia know that?”

“She said she could just tell.” Jules shrugged, thinking that the simple statement adequately explained her sister’s reasoning. “Lydie likes Tara.”

“Do you like Tara?”

“I don’t know. She’s kind and nice and she has a pretty smile…”

“But?”

“I think I need to get to know her better.”

“That sounds like a good idea. Jules, you know that nothing and nobody is more important to me than you and Lydie, don’t you?”

“I know.”

“Good. Now, time for sleep princess Julia. Where is that sister of yours?”

----------------------------------

As Tara had approached the lovingly decorated, lilac door she had overheard some of Julia and Willow’s conversation.

Sensing that mother and daughter needed some quality time Tara lowered her small companion to the floor and held a finger to her lips in a shushing gesture.

“I think mommy and Julia need to talk for a little while.” The blonde whispered to Lydia, who nodded in understanding.

Sitting down on the thick, pale blue landing carpet, Tara leaned back against the wall opposite Lydia and Julia’s room. Curling up on Tara’s lap and resting her head against the woman’s chest, Lydia was soon fast asleep.

This is exactly how Willow found her youngest daughter almost ten minutes later when she stepped out into the hallway. Tara’s arms were wrapped protectively around the peacefully sleeping girl, her fingers gently stroking through loose red curls. She was humming an unnecessary soft, low lullaby; her eyes closed savouring the overwhelming feeling of peace that can only come from cradling a sleeping child.

Taking in the sight before her, Willow’s breath caught in her throat.

It was at that moment that Willow Rosenberg knew, without a whisper of a doubt, that she was, and always had been; completely, truly, helplessly and eternally; head over heels in love with Tara Maclay.

Willow: It's horrible! That's me as a vampire? I'm so evil and... skanky. And I think I'm kinda gay.

Buffy: Willow, just remember, a vampire's personality has nothing to do with the person it was

Sure it doesn't

That was absolutely beautiful and very touching.

And yes, the mutual drying can wait (at least until now when the girls are asleep :wink ).

Great job!
