I finally had time to watch the second DVD they sent, much better quality, and the movie seems to improve each viewing as well, hee. I am still noticing things I missed the first time around.

Hmmm... I ordered my copy quite a while ago, it seemed to me... so I checked my credit card statements, and discovered that the Paypal sum had been deposited back onto my balance in August. Did this happen to anyone else? 'Cause I'm just wondering if this means I should go order another one... or not. I mean, I'm not quite sure why they gave me my money back in the first place (unless my order was confused with someone else's).:hmm

I ordered my copy from Forbidden Planet mainly to avoid using PayPal so I'm eagerly waiting it's arrival. I sooooo can't wait! I'm sure to love it judging by the excellent reviews it has garnered.

i ordered my DVD from forbidden planet quite a while ago and finally got around to emailing them today to inquire where it was.

Anyway, I just received an e mail back saying that due to extremely high demand it had sold out but they have new stockk arriving next week.

So while this kitten is anxiously waiting for her DVD...this is great news for Amber and her movie huh? Yay for the selling out...:clap even though I want my copy now...:happycry

Hearing the words 'high demand' when people speak about Amber's work is always a pleasure. Chance is hilarious, quirky and whole lot of fun to watch. It's one of the few films I can watch repeatedly all the way through without having the urge to hit the fast forward button. Although.. the rewind does get a bit of a workout, heh. I love this movie! Anyhoo.. I was watching it the other night when a very brief shot of a painting caught my eye that I somehow managed to miss before and I just wanted to say once again.. WOW!

Not exactly sure what the not-using-PayPal comments were about, but note that PayPal (at least within USA) no longer requires you to set up an account to pay a PayPal merchant. You can now checkout quickly just using your credit card. (PayPal only starting doing this a few weeks ago)

This is just great.

Just found the link to forbiddenplanet and ordered the movie immediately cos my parents didn't allow the other paying methods. But they're okay with that. A big woo hoo on this great site.

I'm gonna rant!

Postby Diebrock » Thu Mar 25, 2004 5:53 pm

What! you're gonna say, how can she rant in a thread dedicated to Chance?

Well, I was surfing ebay the last few weeks and a search under "Amber Benson" (mmm under Amber...:drool OK I'm back) brought up Chance DVDs. So out of curiosity I decided to keep my eye on them to see how they ended. Two auctions with only the DVD closed at 88 and 92 Euros respectively. The DVD with poster and photo is still going but is already up at 111 Euros (plus 6,70 Euros shipping!). That are ca. 141 USD!

I payed about 54 Euros (68 USD) for DVD, poster and photo AND shipping from the US to Germany.

I just really have the urge to tell those bidders that not only would they support Amber, but they would get it a lot cheaper (not to mention with a nifty autographed photo/poster) if they bought it directly from Benson Entertainment. And since Paypal Germany now allows you to stock your account by using normal bank transfers (you don't have to have a credit card, anymore), they would be able to pay practically the same way they use for their ebay purchases and everything else (bank transfer).

It says a lot about Amber and her fantastic movie, if people are willing to pay 111 Euros for it. :applause Don´t they know that they can order it online? :eyebrow

I paid 25 euro plus shipping on ebay just to get the Stuff magazine.

Rumour has it that one ebay user sends PMs to the bidders, letting them know that they can buy Chance directly from Benson Entertainment for $51 including US shipping and handling or for $55 for international S&H...

I was wondering how many copies of "Chance" were sold so far. The last info we have is from October (1600). Does anybody know?

Erm, I don't know if anyone would be able to help me or not, but does anyone know why I got my DVD in December, but the picture still hasn't turned up??? It was obviously meant to come with it, as my friend brought it for me as a Hannukah(I can't spell 2day) present from Benson Entertainment (the DVD turned up way earlier than December though), but the pic hasn't turned up yet!!!! I want my Amber signed pic good-ness!

Thankyou

Rachel

Edited to say: On a happier note, I love love love this movie, its great!!! I've watched it like a million times and I still think its as good as it was the first time! Go Amber!!! I've also made all my family and friends watch it, and its led to some interesting discussions. Yay! I wanted to go to her Euopean Tour and tell her how amazing it is, but unfortunately, my gf was going back to Sweden the only day that I previously could have made it, and so I didn't get to go! So if anyone happens to meet her some time soon, just remember to tell her how amazing we all think it (and she) is, please!!!!!!!

This doesn't really help, but it might make you feel a little better. I recieved the picture first, the DVD 3 weeks later, and finally the poster a week and a half after that.

They ship them all seperately, so if your mail system is anything like Canada Post :gnome you really never know when you are going to get stuff shipped in the mail.

I know I didn't say anything that you already knew, but I thought maybe knowing someone else went through the torture of "when will it get here" might make it a little better. ;)

You could always e-mail Benson Entertainment to see if they have shipped the picture yet. They are very good about answering their e-mails. ;)

Chance Review at DVDTimes

Postby WebWarlock » Mon May 10, 2004 7:29 pm

Chance has been reviewed at DVD Times.

www.dvdtimes.co.uk/conten...ntid=11377 or

buffy.nu/article.php3?id_article=4530

Go there to read the full review. But this stood out.

Quote:

Despite never achieving the recognition or stardom of her fellow cast members, Amber Benson was an important part of Buffy the Vampire Slayer for the two and a half years during which her character, Tara, was featured. In fact, when she left the show, so did 15% of its audience. While most of the former Buffy stars have remained in strictly mainstream roles, Benson has done the opposite and chosen to plunge into the world of independent filmmaking. Her debut feature, Chance, described as a "screwball romantic comedy", was shot for less than $150,000 during weekends and in between the filming of Seasons 5 and 6 of Buffy, but has so far failed to attract the attention of a distributor. Does this mean that the film is in fact not good enough to get a release? Read on and find out.

Do read on and send them an email thanking them for the honest and fair review.

Go to DVDTimes website if for no other reason to see the great hi res pics.

I finally received my copy a few days ago much to my relief as I thought it was never going to get here!

Anyway, I watched it and thoroughly enjoyed it. I've just read the DVDtimes review posted up above and for the most part I think it's a pretty honest, accurate review of the film and concurs with many of my own views on seeing the film.

I've yet to sit down with my friends and watch it but I'm really interested to see how they react to it as none of them like Buffy in the slightest. Has anyone sat down with non-Buffy fans and watched it? I honestly am not sure whether they're going to like it or not simply because such a huge part of my enjoyment was Amber.

Highly reccommended though, while not perfect, it is a cute, lovable film that I'm sure to enjoy watching over and over quite a few times.
