Hi All,



I thought I'd update you on what is happening.



I am pushing the deadline to donate out to January 24, 2004 because of Amber's schedule.



The upside is that gives you all some financial recovery time after Christmas. Hopefully, that will allow more people who wish to donate the extra time they need



Another note: we will begin working on the new t-shirt design within a few weeks. Due to time constraints (i.e. my graphic designer and myself making a big move, and the holidays) we won't be able to start the design process for a few weeks. But, with the extended deadline to donate, that shouldn't be a problem.



As it stands right now, the t-shirts will be an add on just like last year. I had hopes of working out a deal where they were a free gift with donation, but time got away from me. Hopefully next year that will be a viable option.



That's about it.



Let's show Amber how much she's appreciated and thanks for your support!

Mwah, I've stood in line for hours for an autograph, when I am of course way too cool to do things like that, gave her cheap Dutch candy and a home made original Garfield drawing of a dalmatian puppy. If she hasn't thrown it away and if I ever cut off my ear it should become worth enough to make ten sequels to Chance. I even let my picture be taken with her, and I'd rather get a root canal than have my picture taken, I don't know what else a boy can do to show his appreciation. She should have a clue by now.

I thought I'd take a moment to chime in on behalf of Julie (LostSoul). She's been really busy with starting a new job and has been having trouble with her computer. So, I ask that everyone be patient with her. I will be checking this thread out on a daily basis to help field any questions that you might have.

Okay, start an interesting discussion topic for 2004. We as fans talk about the celebrity as a role model, saying that they have influenced our lives and made them better. In many cases we only know the public face of these celebrities and not the person inside. For example, many call Tom Cruise a role model but what de we know about him that makes him a role model, or are we merely basing our beliefs on what public face we've seen and taking a leap of faith with the rest?



So the question before the group is: What is it about Amber that makes her such a role model? How much of our love for her is based on what we know about her and how much is based on faith and educated guesses about how she might feel about certain issues?



For myself, she comes across as a warm, caring, generous person who, more importantly, has stated in interviews that she understands that she is seen as a role model and does her best to set a good example. Certain choices she has made career-wise have shown her to be a person of principles and high morals.



As for the rest, my beliefs are based on faith, nothing more. We really don't know her feelings and thoughts on what's going on in the world, what she would like to see done differently or what she herself would do differently given the opportunity.



In this world we are constantly bombarded with phony celebs who's only claim to fame is to have been such and such's ex or have taken part in one of the many reality tv shows that have sprung up over recent years. We have so few people in the public eye who can actually be called a positive influence on the world due to their being part of the world. I believe that Amber is such an influence, and she has more power through her influence to change things for the better than many a politician.



She has that power, whether wanted or not. Question is, what will she do with it?
