New Story Idea, help please! Catholicism info requested!

Okay, I'm attempting to write a story about a homophobic Christian woman who is married and has a son, but falls in love with a woman. My general ideas for the story are well formed, but I'm having some trouble getting started with the writing of it, because i know very little of Catholic practices, so if any wonderfully helpfull kittens have insite into this religion, i would appreciate any help offered.
