Re: last night's episode (10/23)

So, at last we know who "basement guy" is. Sad really. Yet I personally find it hard to believe that a woman of intelligence and means would think that this was the only possible solution for dealing with a mentally disabled child, even a violent one. :happy

Poor Bree--no one seems to believe that she didn't poison her husband! I think that the truth will come out eventually though....

And the lawyer manipulated Carlos brilliantly!

Finally, it's always great to see Wallace Shawn again even if, for an old Trekkie like me, he will always be The Nagus. :lol

I really enjoyed this episode, I could even stand the Bree being suspected of murder storyline this week. Her hissy fit at the cemetery was great. I am both sorry and glad for her that she got her rude awakening and stopped sanctifying her cheating shit of a husband. He treated her like crap for years. A lot of funny moments this week which counterbalances the rather disturbing story of that woman shutting up her son in the basement. At least she did something decent by telling the police they got an innocent man. On the other hand we really don´t know what happened, for all we know the police did get the right man and her son was set up and she wrongly believes he killed that woman.

Desperate Housewives 206

Postby BFR from Paris » Tue Nov 08, 2005 2:58 am

Well, what did I say about Susan sending Zach away... It did blow up in her face... Poor Susan, the ending was really sad :aww

Bree sleeping with George... ewwwwwwwwwww!! btw did I understand correctly? Is (or now, was) George a 40 year-old virgin? (like the movie, which has just come out in France, there are posters all over the city and I'm so not going to see it! lol)

Not a great episode all in all, kinda like the previous one, I'm looking forward to finding out more about those new neighbors!!!!! Next week, please!!

Totally, it blew up in Susan's face. Sooooo sad. I liked the juxtaposition of the humor and the tragedy - her running outside and down Wisteria Lane (with all her neighbors looking over to see what was happening) in her wedding dress was funny and farcical, but her crying and begging Mike to give her another chance was heartrending.

Nothing about the Applewhites in this episode? Jeez.

Also, EWWWWWW about Bree sleeping with George. Looks like from her 3am sitting in the chair that she was definitely having second thoughts, and even realizing that he played her. Did anyone else think they left it purposefully ambiguous what whether or not George date-raped her? I was thinking he didn't when they cut back to her waking up, but then again there's not really evidence either way right now.

Well, my goodness, that was quite an episode last night!

First and foremost, George is eeeeeeviiiiilllllll! :yikes

Fortunately, there was lots of cute and funny stuff--Gabrielle insisting on trying to fit into that dress, as well as the antics of Larry Miller and Meagan Fay :lol

Still a very sad situation with the boy in the basement (FOOTNOTE: I read that the original actor who played him was fired; he should be easy to replace since we really haven't had a very good look at him)

Looking forward to next week :-D

Well I am not surprised that Norman Bates killed the psychologist. I really hope they are not going to drag on his relationship with Bree for too long. It feels like she is being defiled everytime he even looks at her and I don´t even want to think about what he did to her in the previous episode.

I am finding Mike to be very unlikable, I was rather bothered last week that Susan would chase him down the street like that. No man is worth that, especially not one so holier than thou. I find his new found fatherly feelings a poor excuse to forget his supposed love for Susan and all the fucked up psychotic things Zach has done. He is letting a murderer and a potential murderer go free so he can play daddy. Well Zach is too far gone to be brought back to the light side of the force by him alone, he needs some serious professional help, some real help, not that kind of shit he had to endure last year thanks to his other wonderful father.

I would like to see Lynette interact more with her friends, though I enjoyed the stuff with the play dates and the other twin´s parents. Bree´s scenes with Gabrielle were sweet and funny, all that trouble to get into that dress and in half a second those models squealed she was pregnant. She had better be ok.

I think I have a problem with second seasons... lol
First The L Word, then The 4400, now Lost and Desperate Housewives...
Why is it that TV shows with an amazing first season seem to lose in quality during their second year? Or is it just me? Am I blasée? Too demanding? lol

I mean, I found this episode very predictable, I don't like the Bree/creepy guy storyline, Gabrielle falling down the stairs when she's 3-month pregnant, Susan sleeping with her ex... all seen before a million times!
Lynette did make me laugh, she's such a hoot! But I'd guessed about the video, also a recurring theme in TV shows lol maybe my problem is that I've seen too many :p

Re the most recent epi (11/20):

1. Too bad about Gaby losing the baby--but what will happen now that George has escaped? :yikes

2. Poor Susan! It just never seems to stop for her. Great that they got the wonderful Paul Dooley to play her "real" father--some interesting things should develop here.

3. Thank goodness Bree finally got rid of the evil pharmacist! :bounce

4. I have to say that I think even less of Alfre Woodard's character--if the boy understands a signal to keep silent, then he is sentient and needs treatment, not being locked up in a basement. :happy

An Excellent episode last night (11/27), with some startling developments:

1. First, to paraphrase a famous song lyric, "Ding Dong the Wicked George is dead!" :applause One hopes that the consequences for Bree will not be too hard to deal with.

2. So now we have a "Wicked Nun" :lol . Of course, all of her motivations could be interpreted in a positive light, but it will be fun to see her go head-to-head with Gaby for the "soul" of Gaby's husband.

3. Too bad about Joely Fisher getting fired--I, for one, will miss her :happy Still, that was an excellent speech she gave to Felicity Huffman, who will now have to deal with a bigger baby than any of her kids! :yikes

4. I can't say I'm surprised about the reaction of Susan's father. After all, she just popped up out of nowhere. At least Susan did the noble thing and didn't break the news to his wife when she had the chance. And I loved the lie about "horse feed" :lol

5. Unfortunately, still no word about Alfre Woodard's boy. I will be curious to see what happens with him.

Oh no, don´t be sorry. Once the episode airs talking about it is not a spoiler. I read at my own risk and I wanted to be spoiled or I would not have read your posts. I really do look forward to finding out how that creep meets his end. I agree with you about the actor who plays Susan´s father. I have seen him in so many shows and movies that I have lost count, yet I did not know his name till now. I especially like him when he play grumpy guys, he does it so well. I wonder what Susan will have in common with dear old dad.

1. Zach is back, but Andrew (Bree's son) is eeeeevilllll! :devil

2. Just goes to show that even a nun can't win against a determined Gaby :lol

3. Nice how Lynette finally managed to get her daycare :lol

4. So Alfre Woodard's boy is smuggled out, but what exactly did Michael Ironside want to do to him?? and Why???

5. Looks like Susan will get to have a relationship with her father anyway :-D

AAARRRGGGGGHHH!!!! I got called away to the phone right after Michael Ironside (forgot the name of his character--he's the guy who's trying to abduct Caleb) gets killed on the stairs.

Can someone please give me a plot summary of what happens after this point?

Much appreciation for your help! :-D

Yeah, basically they put him in the trunk of his car but Mom locked the keys in the trunk, and later on Susan hit his car with her SUV and they all saw a dead body and the cops come, but the cops don't suspect the Applewhites, but Edie does.

And Mike and Susan and Julie take Zach bowling which is fun but then Paul finds the bowling stub in Zach's trash can and gets all stern and says he can't go bowling anymore.

Later on Julie kisses Zach on the cheek.

Here's the text from that part of the recaplet on televisionwithoutpity:

Meanwhile, PI Ironside breaks into the Applewrongs' house and tries to extract Caleb, but instead falls through one of the rotting stairs in the basement and dies. As Matthew and Betty debate what to do with the body, dead PI Ironside's cell phone rings, and caller ID reveals the call to be from "Foster." (As in Melanie Foster? Caleb's alleged victim?) Matthew and Betty decide to move dead PI Ironside into the trunk of dead PI Ironside's car but -- whoops! -- lock the keys inside with him. Zana apologizes to Julie and Susan for his past stalking/kidnapping ways, and they immediately forgive him. Suddenly Zana-sympathetic Julie and Susan hare-brain up a scheme to get Zana and Mike a-bonding by inviting them both to go bowling. And it totally works! Except that CreePaul is not amused, and he marches right over and sucker-punches Mike, who's innocently raking leaves out on his front lawn. Fisticuffs ensue, and Susan (who's driving by at that exact moment) gets so distracted by the man-battle that she runs her car into the back of dead PI Ironside's car. The trunk, of course, pops open, and the whole neighborhood gathers 'round to ogle the dead PI Ironside. The Ladies immediately all look at CreePaul, who shrugs, like "not it!" Later, Edie speculates that maybe the oh-so-suspicious Applewrong family is to blame for the body, and Betty and Matthew observe the gossiping with mounting worry. Also, Alberta kisses Mr. Whiskers, Bree kisses a photo of dead Rex, and Julie (uh oh) kisses Zana (but only on the cheek! as if that matters!).

Mini rant: I despise Mike, above Paul even, Bree´s homophobia bothers the hell out of me, but I despise Andrew as well, he was a sociopath before mommy treated him ill. Her actions still don´t excuse his though. I wish he would not have to be the evil gay guy, it seems vaguely familiar somehow.
Back to more positive sentiments. I just love Edie to bits, as well as Lynette. Susan´s ex was sexeh, getting all manly and noble like that. Despite the way he acted last year, I did kind of like him the whole time.

An interesting episode last night, but let's face it, it was worth watching just for the nun/Gaby fight in the church! :lol :lol

On other fronts, I would say that Bree's daughter seems to be just as eeeeviiiill as her son.

Tom working at Lynette's firm doesn't bode well, especially since Tom's immaturity level seems to match that of the CEO. :eyebrow

Mrs. Applewhite is starting to get creepier and scarier.....:yikes

Rumor: Take it with large amounts of salt.

'Desperate Housewives' Plans Lesbian Storyline
Bree Van De Kamp on Desperate HousewivesDesperate Housewives is set to shock fans with a lesbian storyline. Marcia Cross' character Bree Van De Kamp is to fall for another woman, and rumors are rife Kim Cattrall is being lined
up to play the redhead's gay lover. Kim Delaney is also being considered by bosses.
However, the controversial plot could prove to be difficult for Cross to film as she has been plagued by rumors about her own sexuality over the last year.
A source said: "Bree will embark on a big romance that will really turn heads. In an ironic twist to the false rumours that plagued Marcia in real life, straight laced Bree is set to take on a secret gay lover."
But the sexy interlude will be short-lived. Bree's son Andrew - who had a gay rendezvous of his own - discovers her secret and outs his mother. The storyline is an attempt by producers to increase viewing figures for the show, and it is believed creator Marc Cherry will direct the episodes.

Well, I thought we got an interesting and amusing episode last night (4/16):

1. So, it looks like Bree's parents aren't as tolerant as they think when it comes to dealing with evil Andrew's sexual orientation.:lol

2. I'm sure it will be surprising when Mr. Solis finds out that baby Lily's first words are in Chinese! :lol

3. It certainly took long enough for Susan to realize that Karl is a scumbag. I wonder if she'll get involved with Kyle McLachlan's character? (BTW, nice to see him back on series TV :-) )

4. I'm sure that Lynette's boy will eventually find a girl willing to accept one of his bribes. :lol :lol

While I thought it was sort of cliche'd, that Bree "defeated" her father/evil-stepmother's plan, by playing to their homophobia . . . at the same time, it looked like she, herself, was becoming more accepting (inc. of Andrew's bf Justin: I think Justin is too good for Evil Andrew, but whatever!)

GG I have to say: I'm still always sort of amazed when I hear the "V Word" in primetime (outside of documentaries, that is)! :lol Out

Really, really tired of the Susan/Karl subplot... :happy

I thought the same thing! And I died laughing at the prospect. This has only been the second time I've watched this series and I keep wondering what I've been missing.

Ahh but he's a hot, horny scumbag...and therein lies her problem. Her daughter had me cracking up time and time again.
4. I'm sure that Lynette's boy will eventually find a girl willing to accept one of his bribes.

Are you kidding?! Now that he has a freaking puppy, she'd better watch him...she might be raising a young Mengele for all of his curiousity.

Uff da: a lot happened in this finale!

I thought it was a nice framing technique, to have Mary Alice recall each DH's first day, moving into the neighborhood.

Matthew as psycho-killer, who gets offed at the end: didn't see that coming (though I always had my doubts as to whether Caleb was really a killer)

Bree is out of the funny farm (though since she snuck out, will anyone come after her?), and seemingly reunited w/ Danielle . . . but now she has {ominous chords} Kyle MacLachlan interested in her? (KM having just run over Mike . . . who will survive, I predict? Or not?)

Oooh, Tom's pre-marital fling/mother-of-child chick is SCARY! It's not going to be fun to have her in the neighborhood... (especially for Lynette).

Gabby "saw it coming" . . . but it doesn't make it any easier. Are she and Carlos really over? I know she's gonna want a co-parent when the baby comes---can she keep Xio-Mei in that capacity, or will she relent and let Carlos back in? (Though a biological mom has more legal rights than a surrogate, if Carlos wanted to raise the baby with XM, things could get ugly...)

GG And poor Susan is Mike-less yet again... Out

Is Alfre Woodard coming back next year, or not? I wouldn't blame her if she didn't---her character really wasn't very well served (the fact that she stayed an "outsider" the whole year, makes an obvious, and distinctly uncool parallel :paranoid)

Agreed about the execellence of last night's episode.

I was especially pleased at the performance of Dixie Carter, who is still looking great at her age.

Now, I wonder what could have happened between Orson and his mother to create such a toxic relationship?
