Hey all,
So, it turns out that there's a bill before the Tennessee legislature to ban teachers from talking about homosexuality. SB 49, the "don't say gay" bill is, well, really dumb.
Actor and activist George Takei (famous from his role as Mr. Sulu in the original Star Trek) has taken a stand against this law, and is lending his name to the cause, suggesting that people use "Takei" in place of "gay" as needed. Today, his PSA came out on YouTube, as well as a line of t-shirts, mousepads, and other gear emblazoned with the slogan "It's okay to be Takei." All proceeds from this gear goes to charity.
You can see the PSA here and the website is here.
