I'm pretty goddamn busy today, MKF! But I didn't want to let this Thursday get too far ahead of me. Mrs. Gorn has today & tomorrow off (making a 5-day Labor Day holiday), while Yours Truly is slaving away at the office. I'm going home for lunch, though. A little nookie may or may not be involved, but I will DEFINATELY be taking a 20~30min. nap regardless. I'm very glad today is Thursday because I'm running out of steam this week.

I know, I know, this isn't the "What are you eating, etc. " thread, but I feel the need to proclaim that I just had the following for dinner:

cherry limeade
malt vinegar potatoe chips
fig flavored goat milk ice cream

Oddly, I feel great. Thursday must be watching out for me.

Poor Thursday thread, left to languish at the bottom of the page all day, forgotten and abandoned.
To boost it's morale I have composed the following poetic discription of my Thursday thus far...

All day my plans have been switchin'
I though my first client was ditchin'
But she'd gone into labor
I guess we can't blame her
So instead I am cleaning my kitchen

I challenge the next poster to some iambic pentameter.
Happy Thursday all :)

My Thursday is done,
Now it's time for some fun.
My feet hurt and I cry a tear,
Maybe I'll sit down and have a beer!
Wait I can't, I say
My dog gets his haircut today!

Lol! Happy Freaking Thursday everyone. Just hope everyone's Thursday wasn't as tiresome as mine. My feet hurt so bad! Ok off to dinner, and to drop my Bubba Dog off!

I hate to be the one to break a nice trend - particularly on a Thursday! - but I'm still busting ass in the office and just don't have the time to write anything so fanciful. If I'm lucky ... I might get out of here by 7pm.

Guess what day it is today, MKF!

I'm usually surprised at how quickly Thursdays come around, but this week is just the opposite. I feel like there must've been an extra day or two added this week, that the normal span between Thursdays is somehow longer this time. Anyone else feeling that? I haven't necessarily had a bad week, just a long hard one - Thursday could not have come soon enough!

We've had a special team from Japan in the plant all week, and it's been my job to take them around, translate for them, make sure they get all the information they need and that everything goes smooth ... IN ADDITION to the sixteen tons of work that usually develops on my desk whenever I step away from it. Hasn't been all bad, though - the Japanese like to go out drinking every night after work, and it's been my "responsibility" to go with them. They're all leaving today, though, so I might actually get home at a normal hour and have dinner with Mrs. Gorn.

Tonight's menu - RIBS!! I love Japanese food - don't get me wrong - but after a week of sushi I'm REALLY looking forward to them ribs! Look at me, already drooling. How embarassing.

If just being Thursday isn't enough, the weather had turned absolutely beautiful. Cool, clear skies, the hint of Fall ... I LOVE this time of the year! I'd be quite happy if Summer never came back again.

Wow, this is the longest time I've had all week to sit and write something up while at work! I better go post over in the "It's Football Season, MKF!" thread while this break lasts!

my thursday has been fairly unremarkable. one of my housemates stayed home from work today because of rosh hashanah (not that she goes to services or anything) so i hung out with her and her brother and sister-in-law until her wife got home and now i've been helping them with some home improvement projects. the handier of the two is teaching me how to use power tools. i'm a very bad dyke in that respect.

not much else going on to speak of though this thursday. hope you all are having a good one.

Aaand I arrive, just under the wire.

Thursdays have gotten even better for me lately - I don't work Fridays and since my field has rolled over on it's back, stuck it's legs up in the air and died a dignified (if slightly premature) death, I don't have to spend tomorrow frantically harvesting and prepping vegetables.

Wow. I can get up late tomorrow, fiddle around the house, and do all those pesky paperwork things I have (yet again) allowed to accumulate.

Teehee.

Admitedly, I should begin the lovely task of hauling many truckloads of manure, but I think that can wait one day. Right? Right?

Also, the gf is away at a conference currently, so I've had the place to myself for a day or two. Wow again.... I have time and space.

I'll be glad to have her back, but for now this is kinda nice.

Regards and salutations to all the Kittens,

Boschi

Truckloads of manure? Yes, I vote for putting that off!

My Thursday's been good. We are getting nice steady rain thanks to Humberto. Sorry to all the people who got flooded.

AND, I saw Angela Davis tonight, speaking about Leadership and Democracy...and a bunch of other stuff. It was great to get to see her. I'd met her before, but never heard her speak. It was awesome.

I have a whopping ton of shit to do this weekend, but I think I'm pretty happy today. That's really all I can ask for.

Well, I'm hoping the stink of procrastinated shit has worn off maudmac.

I'm still knee deep, but what else is new.

It is Thursday and I am using my scheduled free 15 minutes this morning to write this. As far as I can tell, I am booked until about 9:45 this evening after this. :happy

It's so sad; I dropped my truck off at the shop so they could fix a flat tire for me this morning and as usual Mark, one of the owners, sort of looks at my grubby little truck, shakes his head, and starts muttering about how all the tires look low. I'm fairly sure he's convinced I regularly beat my truck with a crowbar, just to be mean.

On a positive note, this means he always "pampers" my truck a little to try to make up for my abuse.

Allrighty - I'm off to check my email and start my hell day. Hope everybody's Thursday is mellower than mine.

Whoa, Boschi, reading your post made me soooo tired! OMG, how do you DO all that?!? I am serious. What drives you? When you feel overwhelmed, what makes you buckle down and keep going at it?

My procrastinated shit got done. *checks calendar Yep, I got more procrastinated shit to do now. C'est la vie, n'est-ce pas?

I am really dreading the next couple months. Beyond the demands of normal life, I have huge, huge things to do before December (GRE, grad school apps, finish some outstanding research work I've been putting off), and my personal life is a bit wonky and stressy right now. Each and every one of those things is an "I don't need this shit right now!" kind of thing. I am consoled by the fact that it will all be over by the end of the year. And so far, I've been able to find things to be happy about. There's always something, I think, if you just look.

I hope the Kittens of the world are having good weeks and super-good Thursdays! :x

This has been a long week and very stressful. I have found out alot about myself and others. what I learned is that as long as you have friends you will never be alone or unloved that is so special. This is a wonderful Thursday.

I haven't posted for days & days, MKF! Good thing it's Thursday!

Last couple of weeks at work have really been a challenge. I can't complain, though, because I'm getting a lot done and things are going extremely well for us. I used to do a lot of my Kittenboard-browsing at work during breaks, though, and that has become damn near impossible if I want to leave in time to be home before dinner (and I do, call me old-fashioned). And sometimes I've gone back into the office after dinner (I don't live so far away). I can relate to Boschi's post above, though perhaps the manure I shovel is of a slightly different nature.

If it was only work, I think things would be OK. It's the allegies that really seem to suck my will to live these days. Goddamned horrible allergies. I'm terrified of doctors, so when folks say it will all pass in a few more weeks, I cling to that hope desperately.

You know what works best? Nyquil. A tall shot just before bed seems to at least knock me out until morning. Don't ask me why, but Dayquil doesn't seem to do jack for me. Nothing does during the day.

Well, enough of my bitching. It's Thursday, MKF, and I finally felt like doing something besides sleeping after dinner. If it wasn't already Thursday, that alone would be cause enough to celebrate!

Sounds like a lot of other Kittens out there are having a rough week, too. What is it, El Nino? Sun spots? We gotta bust out of this funk, folks! Whatever it is, there's some bad mojo going around. Even OJ is in trouble again!

I've gotta go post in a few other threads I've neglected, as well as catch up on a few pm's. See you next Thursday, MKF!

p.s. for maudmac last week -
A rule I've lived with for a long time now is that I never consider it to be the next day until I wake up the following morning (or afternoon, as the case may be). So while your post might technically be in violation, it was still arguably a Thursday from a certain point of view. I honestly believe in my heart that the Gods of Thursday are a forgiving bunch.

Ah, a quiet Thursday! The first 14 days of this week have been so busy, it's nice to have things calm down a bit. Maybe it's the rain, maybe it's because my boss is out today, I don't know, but there's a very laid-back atmosphere in the office today. That's a good thing because I've still got tons of stuff to get through, and I haven't been able to so far with everyone running around (myself, in particular).

It actually hasn't been a very good week at all, but since it's now Thursday, I find myself characteristically optimistic.

I am sooooo sleepy today, MKF! I've fallen into the bad habit this week of taking a nap after I get home (I've been getting home pretty late every day), and it's been some of the deepest, most restful sleep I've had in ages. I'm talking wake-up-in-the-same-position, drool on your pillow deep sleep. Mrs. Gorn says I look so peaceful, she just lets me sleep, sometimes for up to two hours.

Now, as nice as that might sound, I end up waking around 8 or 9pm feeling like a million bucks. Again, as nice as that might sound ... I'm usually still feeling the same way around 2 or 3am. And I've got to wake up and go to work same time as always. Needless to say, there's been an awful lot of ass-dragging this week on my part.

I may or may not do the exact same thing again tonight - I'm very good at acknowledging my problems, but I suck at actually doing something about it. They say "Knowing is half the battle," and half the battle is usually good enough for me.

Not that any of this really matters - it's Thursday!! Tomorrow is Friday and I can stay up as late as want! There may even be a little J.T.S. Brown involved, who knows?

Ah, how I love Thursdays!

Postby kisstheviolets » Thu Oct 04, 2007 8:04 pm

yay thursday!

i had a roller coast ride of a thursday.

i'd been planning to go down to virginia this weekend but this morning i found out the ride i was catching back up to CT fell through. so i had a way down, but no way back up. very tragic. i was upset, the girl was upset (this is the cousin of one of my housemates who i met at said housemate's wedding in key west), the whole thing sucked.

but by the afternoon i discovered i had way more frequent flyer miles than i thought, the redemption amounts were more than i had to go to portland (to visit my family which arguably should be my first priority to visit) so with that option neatly eliminated, i decided to use said miles to visit the aforementioned girl. so i'm going in two weeks.

now she's happy, i'm happy, there will be "happys" all around when i see her (which is a very, very good thing). it's good. for now anyway. i still don't know what the fuck i'm doing.

things also got started with my new contract gig today, so that's exciting. if this goes well i may have enough work between my various projects to move out of my friends place in CT and get the hell back to northampton (which is only 45 minutes away but feels like 45,000). i applied for an awesome, awesome job in dc but i'm not holding my breath to get an interview.

so that's my thursday. ooh plus chocolate cake.

not a bad day at all.

happy thursday peeps!

Ahhh, Thursday again, MKF.

I for one have had myself a pretty swell day. Finished up my last day at the old bad job with minimal carnage. New good job starts on Monday. It is raining buckets now, which I kinda like. So I'm home now with some tea and some rainy day tunes feeling feeling relieved and smug to be out of the old place and moving on to something so very much better. Smug is a really enjoyable feeling, isn't it?

Happy Thursday all!
