cheers to lucy! oh farmer bosch, i'm so happy for you!

and btw gorn, we would sponsor the softball team that we play on - a big ol' dyke league, not little league :wink

for all of my exciting news today, i find myself getting cranky because i'd much rather be in DC than atlanta. oh i am a petty, petty kitten.

Hey, guess what day it is today, MKF?

Anyone out there having a good Thursday? I'm busy as hell, but I expect things to start shaping up around 5pm.

hey gorn! happy thursday! mine is busy and stressful, but pretty good otherwise. i'm driving up to portland, oregon tomorrow (a 1,025 mile trip - ick) for a week to see my brother and cute baby niece, so today is my last day at work until the 9th. woohoo! definitely something to be stoked about.

hope everyone else is having a rockin' thursday!

Howdy, ktv! A late June road trip up the West Coast? Good God, I'm envious!! I made that same trip some years back, and I remember I wanted to quit everything and just settle down in northern CA right on the Oregon border. Enjoy the trip!

My other memory of that trip, oddly enough, is Mt. Dew & Funyuns. Lots and lots of Mt. Dew & Funyuns.

eeew i detest funyuns (though i heart some mt. dew). but the drive is nice... we won't be going along the coast, but once you get past redding, ca on I-5 it's all tree covered and gorgeous.

it occured to me recently that in the month of june i will have been to the four corners (or thereabouts) of the united states. the beginning of june found me in key west, florida. then i was in boston, massachusetts. i've been back in southern california for a couple of weeks and will be in oregon tomorrow. pretty trippy. next month will probably find me driving cross country, though due to a problem with housing i will probably just go back to new england until i can find a place to land in d.c. (if you know anyone with crash space in dc for a couple of weeks, let me know!). who knew i was such a continental jet-setter?

i'm really just very tired. it'll be nice to stay put again.

Hey! It's Thursday!

My fourth was a combination of really nice and stressful. It was fun, but I'm a little glad it's over. Money issues in relationships are just such boogers. :happy Stressy McStress.

However, the sun is bright today, I'm reasonably well rested, and I think I have a ripe Cherokee Purple in the field (tomato variety). Now, if only my to-do list wasn't so long and scary....

Hey gorn - any decision on your Boschi-bucks redemption? I've decided they can roll over to the following week if you like. I'm not sure I'll be able to get back online today, but I'll check this thread if I can.

In the meantime I'll spend part of my day contemplating further boschi buck offers.

Happy Thursday, Kittens.

Happy Thursday, MKF!!

This is kind of a weird Thursday, though, isn't it? Crawling back into the office after time off - whether it's one day or two weeks - somehow never seems to get any easier. It IS Thursday, though, MKF, so all is not quite as bad as it may have seemed at 7am this morning. I guess what I really need is a dancing pink elephant to make everything seem alright.

:pinky

Ah, much better!

Boschi,
I can roll-over my Boschi Bucks? Well, I think I may do that, see what other fabulous prizes are available! If you find yourself anywhere near 12th Street & Vine, though, I'll go ahead and give up ten right now.

Woo hoo!!

Ah, Boschi-bucks.

They're currency of course, issued by the bank of Boschi and redeemable for a variety of prizes offered by Boschi Inc.

Prizes vary, but I'll be sure to keep you updated of future Boschi-buck offers.

Boschi, I'd like to redeem my 10 Boschi Bucks today on this Happy Birthday to Me 3-Day Weekend Thursday, MKF!

I understand there was a little pre-Thursday party last night; I hope the day is living up to all your expectations! I've got 16 tons of work on my desk to take care of before I can take the day off tomorrow, but - much like Lucy - I'm busily plowing through it. Mrs. Gorn is taking me out to dinner tonight, and has hinted there may be other birthday-goodness involved.
:pray

I can't tell you how happy I am to be celebrating my birthday in the "It's Just Thursday, MKF!" thread! It'll be 2012 before I can do this again. I wish it could be everyone's birthday today ... but I'll settle for it just being mine.
;-)

Happy Thursday, everyone!

happy birthday gorn!!! :balloons i hope you have a fantabulous thursbirthday!

my thursday is okay. things are a little busy at work. i'm feeling a little less heartbroken. and i set an end date to be back east and available for new jobs (july 30). so things are moving along.

unfortunately, unlike most fridays, i have to work tomorrow so my thursday is not quite the great weekend start-off that it usually is. but i'll live. and see harry potter after work tomorrow! :)

Woohoo! gorn birthday! Now what exactly are you redeeming the Boschi bucks for?

:smash Here Here!!

In consideration of your birthday, I've been authorized to present you with 5 additional Boschi bucks.

I'm sorry I logged on so late in the day, but I will keep my eyes open for a while longer. If I don't hear something before I go to bed I shall stagger outside with the Jameson and lift a glass to you. But never fear, a toast at your requested location is still a possibility. Just not tonight - I had a long day.

I spent the day trying to put together the box for my walk in cooler. In theory this is simple, but in practice it involved heavy panels falling on me. Multiple times.

However I think I'm going to market this weekend! I don't have quite enough stuff to make a respectable showing, but I have too much to let it go to waste. And since the deer have eaten so much that I'm not too sure of future harvests, this may be my only chance. Carpe squashem!

At anyrate, happy Thursday to all Kittens.

Eeek! I forgot woahnellie! Congrats on the raise. :peace

I've techinically still got 15 minutes left of Thursday; just wanted to thank those wishing me a happy birthursday! It was a good one. Can't wait now for the next one in 2012!!

I'm not really THAT old, but here at the close of the day I find myself feeling a little ... I don't know, retrospective. Thinking back on some of the days that got me here, you know? Funny thing is, I can't remember ever having done this before on my birthday. It's not a bad thing (I've had a pretty good life, well worth looking back on drink-in-hand), but it strikes me as a decidely un-youthful thing to do.

Quite a nice surprise to find myself with some Boschi Bucks still left in my pocket! I was afraid I'd blown them all in one place! With the minutes ticking away, I think I'll wait till next Thursday to redeem them.

Dianneswillowtree posted so many dancing pink elephants for me that I really don't need anymore ... but I can't help myself.
:pinky

I need to get some sleep now - Mrs. Gorn & I are having a Buffy marathon tomorrow night, and I want to be well-rested. We're on the last few episodes of Season 3, probably get into Season 4 by the time we fall asleep. I was kinda hoping to hurry things along until "Hush," but to be perfectly honest, I'm rather enjoying the show as it is. It's going to be great finally getting to the Willow & Tara scenes (so many of which I missed), but I'm pleased to discover this was a REALLY good show already before the Willow & Tara goodness started.

"Dopplegangland" was really, really good. Wouldn't mind a few more episodes like that.

If you're in a time zone that's still got some Thursday left, MKF, enjoy!

Guess what day it is today, MKF?
:pinky

I almost triple-posted, but there's no call for that - even on a Thursday.

Mrs. Gorn got her first tattoo earlier this week. Not Thursday, but I thought I'd talk about it today. It was a pink butterfly on the small of her back. Still hurts her. Having never scarred my own beautiful skin, I thought I'd see if any Thursday Kittens out there were tattoo'ed -- how long does the pain last? Was that a particularly painful location? She'd like to get another one, but she's not sure she wants to go through it again.

happy thursday, gorn and everyone else.

i have one tattoo (which really surprises people because i'm so not the "tattoo type", if there were one) on my back, over my left shoulder blade. it hurt like a mo'fo, but i fully admit that i am quite the big baby. i won't say that i cried per se, but i definitely had tears coming out of my eyes involuntarily. it hurt for a few days, but i made sure to lotion it up constantly like i was instructed to and it healed up nicely with no infections or continuing pain. i've heard that the lower back is one of the more painful areas to get a tattoo, so props to mrs. gorn for withstanding that!

my thursday is moving along swimmingly. i don't work tomorrow so i have all of the constructive friday giddiness, my boss decided to play golf today and never came in, i took a long lunch with my co-worker and i am bursting with anticipation at the new harry potter coming out tomorrow night. so not a bad thursday at all.

Heeeeey yooooooou guuuuuuys!

(Was that 3-2-1 Contact???? - Remember that show?)

Happy Thursday all. I am relishing my last few minutes of sitting before I dash off to my newish job.

Typically, as soon as I started this job I received phone calls from, literally, all the other places I applied. Hey - my ego is now a healthy little puppy. :dance

I'm getting one of those nudges from way back in the fuzzy part of my brain, telling me that was Rita Moreno in The Electric Company. Just a hunch, though.

I think I'm going to be gleefully bad this Thursday, MKF! The boss is away on business, so I'm going to sneak away an hour or so early!!
:pinky

I know it's 2 weeks early, but I'm quite excited about Boschi's upcoming Birthursday! I've had a lot of great Thursday's since this thread enlightened me, but my Birthursday 2 weeks ago was pretty special.

happy thursday, peeps!

i thought the long drawn out "hey you guys" was sloth from the goonies? while i watched 3-2-1 contact (loved me some "bloodhound gang"), the electric company was a little before my time.

my thursday is rocking. i'm off tomorrow AND i have a phone interview with an attorney in connecticut who is looking to bring someone on for at least 20-30 hours per week doing employment discrimination (which i have 1.5 years experience in and want to do por vida) and police misconduct. i'm soooo hoping to get this. i'd be able to take on my own cases in massachusetts or get into another contract arrangement with someone. i'd have to take the connecticut bar in february, but since i can transfer over my MBE score, i'd only have to take the essay portion. totally doable. so keep your fingers crossed for me, kittens!

okay, back to pretending to work. i'm sooo excited about boschi's birthursday coming up.

Guess what day it is today, MKF?

I was out sick yesterday, but somehow found the strength to come in today. Thursday is like that. Take my aspirin, grab some coffee, grit my teeth - before you know it, it's Friday. Irregardless of the work that's piled up on my desk, I knew I'd somehow find the time to come and post on my most favouritest of threads!

I can't remember which thread it was in, but writerfreak was talking about proposing at a concert in front of 20,000 people. Not only do I think she should do it, but I think she should then write a Willow & Tara fic all about it.

By chance, would this concert happen to fall on a Thursday? That would be pretty nice.

Is it just me and my suppressed fever, or is it hot has HELL out there today, MKF? This is the hottest Thursday I can remember in a while ...

OMG, The Electric Company! Y'all are makin' me feel OLD! (Yeah, the "Heeeeeey you guuuuuuuys!" thing was definitely from The Electric Company.) Easy Reader! :heart You know what else I loved? I loved that counting thing - the 12345...678910...11! 12! thing with the pinball machine? Remember that? I wonder if that's on YouTube... It was groovy.

Check it out, I found it - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KDm0PqjAF78

It is even groovier than I remembered! There's actually a whole bunch of Electric Co. stuff on YouTube.

gorn, I cannot speak for Kentucky weather, but I can tell you it is hot as fuck here in Alabama. Heat index is 100. Not terribly humid, though, so it's not killing people. Sorry to hear you've been under the weather. Hope you get to feeling better soon!

My Thursdays remain unspecial these days, but the semester is drawing to a close very soon, so that is pretty special and I am happy about it. I'll be happy to have a couple weeks off before Fall semester starts, but I will be bored to death. Perhaps it's time to fix the author index posts in the completed fics archives.... I wonder if I'll be bored enough for that to start looking good.

Happy Thursday, PlanetKitten!

it's seriously a melting-thursday this week. i left the building for lunch today and thought i'd scorched my lungs on the first intake of air. and it was only 93.

i looove that pinball counting thing!! i remember it from sesame street. i've been known to burst into it (doo do dooo doooo's at the end and all) when i'm counting aloud and nobody's ever familiar with it. i've got to say it was a lot trippier watching it today... who knew sesame street was so funky?

i'm off tomorrow, so that's glorious. i might hang out with my best friend and her kiddies in their awesome pool and try to get rid of the crabbiness i've had all week (though i certainly bring none of into the hallowed hall o'thursday).

sorry to hear you're sickly gorn. thursday will make it all better, i'm sure.

Yes indeed, meltingly hot. So humid here I kept wanting to grab the air and wring it out.

As for the Electric Company (thanks for the correction!). Yes! Thank you for that YouTube link. I was bopping a long in my chair. So very familiar. I'm unreasonable fond of the rhino's horn becoming his tail. Kinda oddly gender bendy to me. I'm not quite sure how that works in my head.

On other fronts, I have a confession. I was a dummy - today is not my birthday, it was yesterday. Apparently I am calendar challenged.

I have, however, paid the price for trying to falsely claim a Thursday birthday. Let me give a run down of my (wednesday) birthday morning:

12:01 a.m. - Awake with insomnia, as if gf. We are crabby about this, not so much with eachother, but vaguely at eachother.

3:30 a.m. - decide to get up and get dressed, as sleep is not happening.

4:30 a.m. - doze off on couch, fully dressed

5:45 a.m. - woken up by gf so we can both start work early

6:30 a.m. - arrive at my farm to find that the temp. in the cooler is 110 degrees. Vegetables harvested monday are cooked.

7:15 a.m. - begin harvesting in field. Lean down a little too close to the electric fence. Experience a sensation kinda like being hit over the head with a 2x4, only with a teeth-ringing jaw snap in there too. Stagger backwards, clutching the top of my head, trying to figure out what heavy object fell on me. Figure out (once my eyes focus) that I hit the fence with the top of my head. Nothing like electroshock therapy on a bright birthday morning.

9:00 a.m. - While harvesting tomatoes, I find one that is wedged tightly between branches of the tomato plant. I try to saw through the stem of the fruit with my knife, and instead saw into my finger.

9:01 a.m. - fall backwards, clutching bleeding finger, and sit squarely on a particularly prickly thistle plant.

9:02 a.m. - weigh the merits of cussing loudly versus a brief, pitiful weep.

9:04 a.m. - mutter darkly, clutch my bum with my good hand, and stagger upright, giving the fence a wide berth.

10:30 a.m. - load harvested vegetables into car and drive them to gf's house, where they fill every inch of refridgerator.

11:00 a.m. - drive to job and spend the day outside, weeding in 96 degree weather.

So woo hoo, what a birthday. :happy

Sigh.

On a positive note, the gf is baking her famous blueberry pie for me Sunday, and we're going out to a nice dinner Saturday. I can deal with that.

Happy thursday kittens.
Don't confuse me with your reasonableness.
