Classic Willow! heehee

This rocked, Sass. And I’ll admit I teared up with the sign-carrying by Buffy and Xander. So loving and supportive. It's really amazing how you keep topping yourself. Thanks again! :)

Sass,

This is so beautiful and hilarious. :grin Thanks for the education because I did not have a clue. Forgive me?

Tara: My heart doesn't stutter.

Tara: Willow, I got so lost.
Willow: I found you. I will always find you.

Willow: Hi, um Tara. I was wondering maybe you want to go out some time for coffee? food? Kisses and gay love?

Sass - another awesome update!! LMAO on the whole "Big Gay Willow" though...too funny.

Oh Sass... this is great. The Tara worry about splitting Willow from her friends was so perfect and the Willow babble - as ever spot on.

The PFLAG stuff I loved, not to mention the already infamous "chapstick lesbian" line.

Also - I am liking the term Sassverse.

Wonderful just wonderful.

Sasette a lovely vignette! You capture season 4 W&T so well here. Or in other words, conveying the depth of their love, but at the same showing their fears/insecurities. I can so understand Willow feeling secure in her love for Tara, and being gay, but at the same time feeling like a "newbie" ("I'm gay- shouldn't I just, y'know, automatically get all the in-jokes now?", and this line sums-up Willow so well with "Or- oh... oh! They should hand out a manual! I could study!"). As well as fearing the gang is acting strange, and therefore, uncomfortable with her being gay. And then Tara's insecurities plaguing her by fearing she is the cause of a rift between Willow and the gang. Loved how Willow reassured Tara ("And I might throw in a hearty fist-shaking if 'fie' doesn't express my intense displeasure at their behavior adequately.").

And awwww for the gang marching with PFLAG, and showing their love with their signs. I just loved how the gang wanted to learn so they been going to meetings, and the "yellow crayon" part really fit so well here. Lastly the last line ("Willow looked down at her hands tucked into Tara's, then looked up at her friends, surrounded by love and support, and insanely grateful to have these people in her life.") was just beautiful, and conveys what the gang is to each other "family".

That was awesome! Awesome I say! and

*impressive

*lofty

*exalted

*striking

*grand

*moving

*majestic

--Especially the last two, as moving is not only what it was to see supportive-Xander/Buffy/Giles, but also a lame parade pun, and majestic because its a vague magic reference.

"I love my Gay Willow"--I want a bumper sticker that says that--or I should give my best friend one that says "My best friend is gay". Except we don't have cars. Hm. And I did give my friend a straight but not narrow pin last year. And Willow and Tara are incredibly cute when they're nervous, because its so oppisite--one can barely speak due to a stutter; the other can't stop talking about anything, everything, and a couple other things, too.

**WebWarlock: Heh ... but continuity can fall completely by the wayside in my work - that's the fun of the vignette series. Hey - in this particular piece of fiction, there could be no such thing as Adam *G* But thanks - I'm really glad you liked it, and you imagine it as having happened anywhere you darn well please *G*

**Puff: Why, thank you - I always love getting points for vocabulary. Heh ... really, the Scoobies marching was the part that really 'made' this vignette for me *shrug*

**Tulipp: Heh ... well, let's not discount mind numbingly bored ;) But thank you, Tulipp ... I'm really glad you enjoy them. And no worries about missing them. There's tons of fic going up all the time right now, and it's really easy to kind of lose track of a thread - but thank you for always catching up - that's damn cool *G*

**xita-fajita-pita: I totally see what you mean ... there's a big mind-shift between Buffy kinda' wiggin' in NMR and whatever the heck that ep was in season sux (I think I've blocked out most of this season successfully. Denial, thy name is Sassette). But I'd had lots of requests for them to do a pride parade from lots of different people, so I wrote it ... and I'm glad I did - it was a fun one *G*

**Miss1234Kitty: LOL ... working in the crayon-breaking Willow speech from Xander without pissing people off was something I considered a personal challenge ... glad you didn't feel the need to throw anything *G* Because, y'know, that could've been a really sweet remembrance between two old friends in just about any >other< context than the one used on the show.

**miss calendar: #26 ... why, thank you *G* Y'know, the 'Big Gay Willow' thing just makes me giggle - mostly because it's just this kind of affectionate teasing nickname that wouldn't get used by someone who was uncomfortable with Willow's new revelation, y'know? And I really liked writing them doing something gay ecause it gave me the opportunity to address the very things you've mentioned - how the gang really reacted to this, how Willow feels caught between her old life and her new and is trying to hang on to both of them, how Tara is kind of wondering if she really fits into Willow's life anywhere ... that sort of thing.

#7: Heh ... I spent awhile with an online English to Latin translator to get those silly little phrases ... I'm really glad you liked it. This was pure fluff, and meant to make people kind of laugh at themselves. Besides, I just wanted to really illustrate how ridiculous the magick addiction thing was ... because, y'know, fanfic is MUCH more addictive, and likely something Willow has been exposed to ;)

#8: This was what I like to call a 'personal challenge vignette' in that I wanted to write them 'really getting together' immediately and still have it be in character for our shy witches. Really, the idea is pretty ridiculous ... but the point of writing this was to take this idea that was incredibly outlandish given who Willow and Tara are at this point, and somehow make it >work<. I was really worried that this would be way too out there, and everyone would hate it - but I'm lucky in that most people reacted the way you did - this is now canon for them, and here I am, chortling gleefully and rubbing my hands together with a manic glint in my eye wondering what other completely bizarre things I can do ;) But thank you - as always, your comments are thoughtful, insightful, and very much appreciated.

**Scout: Heh ... thank you, Scout - and there is no shame in tearing up at a sign-carrying Xander and Buffy ;) And I keep topping myself? Is that even >possible

**StRaWbErRy: Gosh, thanks - and the best part of writing 4th season Tara is all the "ummm"s. They're fun *G* And of course I'll be writing more. I really hope to hit 100 vignettes, though I'm definitely going to get up to 50. We'll basically just be seeing how far I can get without repeating myself.

**The Rose24: Thanks *G* And of course you're forgiven - gosh knows I certainly don't get all the Big Gay In-Jokes *shrug* And you're welcome *G*

**SlayerTazz: Heh ... thank you - and everybody loves Big Gay Willow. Well, at least everyone with a modicum of taste. And, ummm ... that sounded a lot more ... uhhh ... yeah ... um, in my head, y'know? Right.

**Katharyn: Gosh, thanks - and at this point W/T are definitely at a worry kind of stage. Tara's going to be wondering exactly where/how she fits into Willow's life, and wouldn't want to be the cause of a break with Willow's friends - Willow, on the other hand, knows she wants to make room for Tara in her life, but isn't sure how. Anyway, I'm getting rambly. I better knock that off *G*

**VampNo12: Heh ... thank you. I love revisiting season 4 W/T ... they're just so incredibly sweet and fun ... I love writing that time-frame. You've really hit on all the things I really wanted to convey here ... W/T's insecurities, different but similar, and where they came from - the pleasant surprise and the love and support from the marching sign-waving scoobs ... it was just a blast to write, and I'm really glad you liked it *G*

**KyanWing: *G* Thanks! I'm really glad you're enjoying all the vignettes ... and I'm glad you learned something. Who knew the pride parade vignette was going to be so educational? *G*

**BoredNow99: Oh, you're very welcome ... and thank you for the chuckles, snorts and hearty belly laughs - that kind of thing makes writing these completely worthwhile *G*

**TX: Heh ... gosh, you're dedicated *G* Love you too, and hope you're having a good time. Don't do anything I wouldn't do ;)

**tkheaven: Thank you ... and really, Xander giving the yellow crayon speech in an appropriate context was really something I wanted to do here ... I really like that story in this framework, but gosh, I hated it on the show. Saving the world with a broken yellow crayon. Sheesh!

**TromDeGrey: LOL ... yes, please stop melting down the poor defenseless yellow crayons ... it isn't their fault that they were used for the worst world-saving speech in TV history.

**fairydust: Thank you - and yes, that's exactly it. I really see them all as a family, so I just can't write them any other way.

**Autumn: *G* Thank you, Autumn ... I love writing WillowBabble ... it's so freakishly random and yet makes perfect sense in a bizarre Willow Train-of-Thought way. *happy sigh* And yeah - Big Gay Willow is much of the loveable.

**Bookcat: Yay! Thanks for busting out the thesaurus ... those are always fun to read - of course, that may just be because I'm a big ol' dork ;) And you don't have to have a car to have a bumper sticker. Just, y'know, keep that in mind.

**Grimaldi: Heh ... thank you. And I just really like the idea of the Scoobs doing the supportive thing - because they sould. As for Anya - of >course< she's a Southpark fan. Awwww... I can't believe I missed an update to this. Sorry Sass. :( So sorry.

I just loved this, very much. I was all sad at first, but then when the gang showed up to support Willow, that really made me smile. :) That was very sweet. I loved the signs that Buffy and Xander were waving around. Especially Buffy's. Awww... so cute. :) Poor Giles though. I can just picture him cleaning his glasses every 2 minutes. Hee... :rollin

Very cool idea, Sass. You know, this actually made me think of the movie, "The Truth About Jane." Did you ever see that? It makes me think of the ending, where her mom shows up at the gay pride gathering.

Thank you for writing this and I can't wait for the next one. Whenever it may be.

Twilight
Part 27 of the Vignettes Series
by Sassette

"Honey, I'm home," Willow called, walking in the door of their home, a wide grin on her face. She loved saying that, no matter it irked Tara a little - Tara needed to be irked once in awhile, or else she'd start thinking Willow was perfect, and she couldn't have that.

"Dinner's on the table," Tara called out from the kitchen.

"Huh?" Willow wondered aloud. Dinner was never on the table - that's what made yelling 'Honey, I'm home' so funny.

"And don't you ever get tired of that joke?" Tara asked, coming into the living room, an indulgent smile on her face as she kissed her wife lightly in greeting.

"Nope - besides, it's the last time I'll get to use it," Willow said, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "So - what are we gonna' do first? A cruise? A tour? Backpack across Europe?"

"Sweetie, I don't think we need to decide that just now," Tara said, her hand finding Willow's and their fingers entwining as they had for the past thirty years. "Come on," she said, tugging on Willow's hand.

Willow sighed happily, following wherever Tara would lead, despite the fact she knew darn well the dining room table was in the other direction … but after twenty-five gloriously wonderful years of being married to Tara, she knew better than to protest. Tara probably had some kind of surprise waiting for her in the back yard, unless she missed her guess - and she rarely did, which is why she had been such a valuable commodity in the computer industry for so many years. A wistful smile crossed her face as she thought about all the things she had achieved in her chosen field - all the things she had accomplished. But the days of accomplishment were over, and now she had retirement and days full of nothing but Tara to look forward to.

"Oooh, pretty," Willow said, seeing a picnic set-up on the grass of their backyard. There were candles and wine, and two plates set out, and a basket full of food. The stars were just starting to show themselves, as the setting sun painted the sky a myriad of colors.

"I thought you'd like it," Tara said, moving to the blanket and sitting gingerly, her knees not quite as bendy as they had been in her youth. She smiled happily when Willow sat beside her, taking in the beloved features of her wife, and thinking of the changes they had seen in their life together. Willow's face held more lines, but more character - more gray hairs, yes, but there was a kind of calm and wisdom in the eyes that spoke of confidence and experience.

"It's perfect," Willow said, her grin broadening as she did a similar study of Tara's features. Her hair was still blonde - her one concession to vanity being a poorly hidden bottle of Lady Clairol in the bathroom. Willow had always figured Tara to be the kind to grow old gracefully, but she insisted that gray hairs just looked silly on a blonde, and that she'd stop dying it when all of it was one color. The lines around the eyes had developed over the years, but the eyes themselves remained unchanged, reflecting back to Willow the old, wise soul she had come to depend on.

"You sure you're ready for retirement?" Tara asked lightly, dishing up some food and handing it over. "You know you're going to last about a year before some system crashes, and you'll jump right in again muttering about the young kids not knowing what they're doing."

"Well, they don't," Willow said with a shrug, popping open the champagne bottle and filling two glasses. "Is it my fault they don't bother studying the older systems? And most companies are too cheap to upgrade something that works."

"You didn't answer my question," Tara pointed out.

"Oh, right - there was a question in there," Willow said, a small grin quirking her lips. That hadn't changed, Tara noted - that hadn't changed at all. That was the same WillowGrin she had fallen in love with. "Yes, I'm more than ready for retirement - the real question is, are you ready to have me underfoot?"

"Sweetie - I'm looking forward to it," Tara said, a half-smile curving her mouth. "I'm sure you'll drive me absolutely insane, and I'll love every single second of it."

"Even if I get it into my head to … I don't know - remodel the house? Redo the backyard? Change all the lighting in your studio?" Willow asked, her grin growing impish.

"The house and backyard are completely at the disposal of your boredom," Tara said with a little laugh. "But you leave my studio alone," she said in a mock-warning tone.

"But I can make it better!" Willow protested, her voice rich with mock indignation. "The lighting in there isn't good enough. We need to upgrade."

"The lighting has been fine for twenty years - so you just leave it alone," Tara instructed. "And most of the lighting is a skylight, sweetie … I don't think you can upgrade the sun."

"Sure we can," Willow said, waggling her eyebrows. "We'll call it 'WillowSun 2.0'."

"And exactly how would you go about upgrading the sun?" Tara asked, quirking an eyebrow at Willow.

"I'll make the hole in the roof bigger," Willow said, her eyes twinkling.

"You're a goof," Tara said, a happy laugh escaping her. She was looking forward to the coming years in ways she hadn't realized she would - she hadn't realized how much she just wanted Willow around, every hour of every day.

"But I'm your goof," Willow said, kissing Tara lightly. Their lips lingered together as the sun finished its descent over the horizon, and then they met again, and again, the food and champagne forgotten as they found within each other all the sustenance they would ever need.

Oh yeah, Tara thought idly - retirement was all of the good.

**SlayerTazz: Thank you *G* I really felt like writing something just kind of sweet and nice, and not serious or angsty at all ... and I just adore the idea of them growing older together and I realized I hadn't done a future-fic in awhile - so there you have it *G*

**tiredsoul: Yeah, they've changed outwardly ... but the love they have is eternal and unchanging, and that just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy *G* As for WillowSun 2.0 ... coming soon to a store near you. Well, okay, probably not. But that's be cool *G* And y'know, they say memory is the second thing to go ...

**mollyig: Heh ... thank you *G* And the mushy "awww" response was exactly what I was going for *G*

**LeatherQueen: Absolutely ... many MANY happy years *G* And yeah - I got a chuckle out of the idea of Tara still coloring her hair, too *G*

**wiccachica: Awww, thanks wiccachica *G* Though, I wouldn't say >perfection<. Arguably, "perfection" is a man-made and unachievable construct that is completely imaginary. Like the square root of negative one. But thank you ... I'm glad you love the characters, and I shall endeavor to use my new-found status as "reigning world champeen" only for good *G*

**Puff: Heh ... thank you *G* And I really like the idea of them growing old together, too ... makes me happy and tingly *G*

**nika: LOL - thanks, nika *G* And yeah - I just love imagining them having this long life together full of love and happy things, and the occasional trauma (because nobody gets all happy all the time, y'know), but mostly happy things.

**Tulipp: *G* Thanks ... I really wanted to establish that they don't have the sort of traditional "breadwinner/housekeeper" roles in their relationship. *shrug* I just don't really see it happening. I figure they're used to eating dinner late and taking turns doing the cooking - though Willow probably cheats and does take-out on her nights fairly often.

Sassette I have to add my awwww, just so sweet! I too got a kick out Tara coloring her hair. But really this vignette put a smile on my face, with W&T reveling in their love, as well as seeing their excitement at the prospect at getting to spend even more time together with Willow's retirement. Lastly, the line ("Their lips lingered together as the sun finished its descent over the horizon, and then they met again, the food and champagne forgotten as they found within each other all the sustenance they would ever need), was just a lovely image, and sums up so well the strength of their relationship/connection. Can't wait for the next moment!
