June 4: Edward Furlong et al. face EL INTERMEDIO



The Asylum has announced that it has wrapped its latest horror production, the supernatural thriller EL INTERMEDIO. The film features an all-genre-star cast, including Edward (TERMINATOR 2) Furlong, Steve (ED GEIN) Railsback, Amber Benson (BUFFY’s Tara) and Cerina (CABIN FEVER) Vincent, in a story the Asylum site describes thusly: “On the Mexican border, there is a tunnel, haunted by a deadly presence. When a group of friends are trapped in the caverns, they become prey for the tortured ghosts.” Andrew Lauer, an actor whose credits include a featured role opposite Peter Weller in SCREAMERS, makes his directorial debut, from a script by Kraig X. (CAROLINE IN THE CITY) Wenman. The cinematographer is Neil (BLAIR WITCH PROJECT) Fredericks, and the special makeup FX are by Richard Miranda, whose credits include ARMY OF DARKNESS and Asylum’s previous production DEATH VALLEY (see previous item here).

It was mentioned in the Amber/Aly tidbit thread, but any movie with Amber or Aly can get it´s own thread as well. I like horror movies. I hope this one won´t be as bad as Taboo. That was still worth it though, for Amber´s sake. I watched Children of the Corn as well because of Linda Hamilton. Sometimes I don´t really care too much is a movie sucks ass if I like an actor well enough. It can also be fun if it is really really bad. Ahem, anyway, that said, I prefer the combination good movie, great actress over sucky movie, great actress.

The best part, for me? Is that she is a young, gorgeous, blond woman who is romantically related to anyone else (though in this case she's even got the male lead if I remember correctly)...

Well, besides Amber, this is Steve Railsback, who starred in one of my all-time favorites, The Stuntman, a film I highly recommend to just about anybody.



Already in post, huh? Nice to know she's getting plenty of work. And maybe I can con Mrs. CaptMurdock into getting this DVD...she's a sucker for horror flicks.

Can´t wait to see this movie. It should be really interesting watching Amber running with crutches. I hope she´s not dying in this movie. She died a lot lately.

Okay this sounds very good. A new Amber movie, with a lead role, and as a bonus, Cerina Vincent (she's no Amber, but I quite like her.) Plus, I like horror movies.



I agree that Amber really needs to make it through this one alive!

Oh my. I guess she really does die. That's rather gruesome, too, isn't it? The innards there and all. Incongruous and somewhat surreal to see her laughing with her guts soaking into the dusty dirt like that.



Poor characters, always dying. But yay for Amber working, and yay for them accommodating her with her injury.



Now, is this going straight-to-video or will it be in theaters? Anyone have any idea? It has a sort of straight-to-video-like quality to it, doesn't it?

Well you never know. It might be like "Event Horizon", where Miller has visions of his crew dying, but he manages to save them.
