W/T Around the World

Postby BBOvenGuy » Thu Mar 28, 2002 5:39 am

Hi, bonjour, buenos dias, etc...

We got a new idea for the Kitten Board Book this morning - we want to do a section entitled "Willow And Tara Around The World," in which we would have Kitten Board members from outside the US post their comments.

So...

Please use this thread to say a few words about Willow, Tara, Aly, Amber, Joss, etc. and how you feel about them. Use your native language - we'd love to get a mixture here to show just how worldwide interest in W/T is. If your native language isn't something resembling American, though, please put a translation or summary at the bottom of your post. You know, so we'll know you're not really propositioning Amber or something... :p Have fun!

¡¡Quiero a Will y a Tara!! Verlas juntas siempre me hace sonreir... (Menos cuando se pelean, entonces lloro mucho )

---------------
¡¡I love W/T!! In english, spanish o whatever...! They are the sweetest relationship at Buffy and I'd hate see that their love dosen't work. Joss is great, and ALy and Amber are the best actresses.
When I see them together I always smile... (except when they quarrel, then I want to cry)

Well, that is. I love this idea!!

OK...I'm in Australia. I've Always lived here.... but my background is very multicultural...I wont go into it..... plus I hate all those cocky Aussie lines....considering I'd never eat shrimp from the barbie (I'm vegetarian).... and I barely ever hear G'day being used.

Anyways..... I love the W/T relationship ....always have.... always will.

One more bump, just to see if we can get a few more people to post stuff. Now that we know how much Amber loves the Kitties, let's send her as many greetings as we can!

In Manchester, where we don't have our own language (heh heh) I guess that Willow and Tara would just be 'top'! Hee!

I know I've posted here b4, but I just wanted to clue all you non-Aussies up on what goes down w/me in my state (New South Wales - NSW)
I'm 18, so I'm in my final yr of High School (yrs 6-12). In this year, we do the Higher School Certificate (HSC) which is really a two-yr gig, where we are stressed as hell trying to hand in massively difficult assessments, do major works (which get handed in at the beginning of August!!) and many, many exams. There's a block called the Trials, which are really hard at my school (cos it's selective - a smartie skool...) and then a bigger block in november which is the actual HSC. So I'm workin (not so) hard and doing 4 major works - Art, Drama, Drama (group) and Society & Culture. Very interesting.
Upon completing this HSC, we get a certificate (no...!) and a rank/index out of 100. Certain ranks are necessary to get into certain courses at University e.g. Medecine is, like, 99.7 or something STUPID like that.
Everyone at my skool is aiming for 97-100 but I'm not going straight to Uni, I'm going to a private academy so I don't need any rank at all... so I don't mind what I get.
If this was interesting at all to anyone, let me know I have plenty more to say about NSW education system and good-old-Pen

Lotsa Love,

Bonjour!

Okay, well, I'm from Canada, and am anglophone, so I'm afraid I can't offer you any more french, but I can throw in the obligatory 'eh's. heheheh

I'd just like to say that I adore and worship Willow and Tara, Aly and Amber, Joss, and everyone else that make BTVS such an awesome show. What would we do without them, eh? We folks in the Great White North actually get to see the show, that is those of us with satelite dishes affixed to our igloo's, and many many people are envious of the sun and sand and the wonderful ocean there in Sunnydale, California. Let me tell you one thing though, Spike so has a tan compared to everyone up here. Joss should hire Canadians as the vampire cast, because no tanning is no problem up here. How could we with our 99% body coverage of snowsuits 12 months a year, eh? And emergency potty issues, well...I won't go there.

All kidding aside, and not very funny kidding at that, I know many people here who love and worship the show as much as I do, and who really get something out of it in return. BTVS isn't just a silly show with a silly name. It's an amazing show, with very adult humour, quirks, kinks, and asides that make it such a facination to watch.

So from all of us eskimo's, er, I mean Canadian's up here, go Willow, and Tara, and the rest of the cast and crew that make up Buffy the Vampire Slayer!

ok..*pant*..ok..i did it! it's the fifth or sixth draft, at this point i don't know anymore..and i must confess..i cheated! i had to write it in english, directly. you can't imagine how hard it is to translate something backwards...
and i still feel sorry about its lenght. but to my defense, i think it only says half of what i wanted to express. maybe less.

*bad english version*

dear Joss,
i think you should consider an Italian TV exec as the new big bad ass of the next season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. more specifically, any exec from the channel that airs BtVS over here. because i tell you, they have all the qualities you’re looking for in a great villain: completely lacking humanity, with a subtle love for psychological torture... but not too bright after all. in my head i figure them as Glory meets D’Hoffryn. D’Hoffryn in a Versace suit, there.

being a fan of BtVS and being Italian is something very close to being a masochist. because when you agree to be daily tortured by demons such as the above, there’s no other explaination, you must be one who loves that kind of stuff.
let’s face the facts: we never get to hear the actors’ actual voices because each episode is dubbed into Italian. actually that’s ok, i love the guys who do that, fantastic actors themselves, not just someone who reads lines from a sheet of paper in a dull voice. they’re doing a hell of a job. it’s difficult to translate most of those deliriously good lines you write. but they try, and 95% of the times they just kick ass. plus, it’s sort of endearing to hear Tara talk with a Roman accent. ha.
some episodes get censored. a couple of them never made it to being aired, while others were seriously cut here and there. ouch! that hurt! but i (we - i’m not the only masochist in Italy...) kept watching the show.
and did you hear about the the “soap opera model”? it rules here. in the head of the exec demons it means “let’s air one episode per day of whatever we have!”. so of course they ran out of dubbed episodes, and when they did, season 5 was halfway through. double ouch (with cream on top, thankyou)! i still kept watching the show. but the re-runs were not enough for me...

you know, it’s like being food-deprived. or sleep-deprived. or anything-deprived, for that matter.
but if it doesn’t kill you, it makes you stronger.
and that’s what it did to me. to us Italian nutters who love Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
there’s such a strong passionate love for your creature in this country. you should come and see for yourself. Buffhooligans i call them. they fight for it, they discuss and they quarrel and they just... love what you do. it all comes down to this, in the end. you guys should be proud. there’s such a giant amount of love and passion, and genuine fun outporing from this show. it rubs off on the viewers, it floods out from the TV screen and it infects us all.

when you have a passion for US TV shows *and* live in this remote province of the American empire there’s no way things can go smooth for you. there’s always some exec demon that will show up from dark alleys, gnawing and threatening. but the Buffhooligans are keeping them at bay! not defeating them, but holding on. ‘cause you see, unfortunately we’re masochist, not Slayers.

dear Alyson,
i came to Buffy the Vampire Slayer because of David Boreanaz (eh well...).
but i stuck to BtVS because of Willow Rosenberg.
i could state the very obvious and say i recognize myself in her, but it’s not as simple. there is an overall feeling of kinship i have for Willow that goes beyond the things we could or couldn’t have in common - because really, there’s just one or two of them. it’s more like, i see Willow on screen and see the myself i used to be when in high-school and later on, in university. i have been drawn to Willow because she reminds me of who i was back then, and who i was back then is the foundations to who i am now... and it’s a very sweet kind of feeling. much like seeing the pictures of yourself as a little kid. anyway. kudos to you for having beautifully portrayed, along the course of five seasons, the incredible evolution of this awesome character, from an insecure shy teenager to a brilliant young woman (but still a little insecure. which doesn’t matter... it only makes her lovelier).

dear Amber,
there is something unutterably beautiful in the way you play Tara. there’s a radiance, a glow, i don’t know, something like a switch going suddenly on in dark room. but no, it can’t have anything in common with artificial light because there’s nothing artificial about it. it’s so natural, your way of acting, one would think you did this job since the day you were born.
grace is a word that comes pretty close to define it, but there’s more... and that “more” is exactly the part i can’t get to grab, neither with my own language nor with yours. but it got to me. in spite of a different language, a different lifestyle, a far away country... it got to me. and i want to thank you for it. to watch you perform is a show in itself.

*IT version*

caro Joss,

cara Alyson,

yeah, it's pretty bad to not be allowed to see your fav tv show as everyone else on the planet does (still, i think it would be even worse if i was living in China). but you see, after all i have found this place, so now i'm majorly spoiled and..it's not so bad..it's not so bad (thanks Dido!) ;-)

Will e Tara é o casal mais fofo da TV!! Eu amo elas demais.

Traduzindo...Translating...
Will and Tara are the cuttest couple on TV!! I love them so much! I think Joss is very intelligent by the way he writes their relationship.
According to a recent poll here in Brazil, Buffy is the show with the best ratings in the country. (Number one man!!!!) and I guess I still haven't found someone who stopped watching because of them. I think people are even more intrested in the show now...
Anyway...just stopped to say that

Go Joss!!!

Incredibly strange to write something here in my own language for a change... In flemish, that is, a language almost equal to dutch, only spoken with a different accent... You could compare it to the difference between English and American...
Now, why do I love Willow and Tara so much?

Willow, for one, I always loved. From the very first eppy of Buffy I ever saw. Her way of speaking, her personality, her sense of humor... The way she tends to babble now and then is just so endearing!

Because I'm such a spoiler slut, I knew that Tara was gonna become Willow's new girlfriend long before 'Hush' ever aired here in Belgium. I knew Amber from 'King of the Hill', and since i she was fantastic in that movie, I started to do some research on the net... I'm a great admirer of Amber, and even though I've never actually met her (come to Belgium, dammnit! ), I suspect her to be incredibly nice (and that's probably an understatement) in real life. Besides her incredible talents ('Chance', anyone?), she's also incredibly sweet to her fans (*looks at her autographed 'Chance' picture and WannaBlessedBe comic*), and last, but not least, she has an awesome taste in music...

Tara's special to me because she's so honest (except for the time she hid the fact that she thought she was a demon from everyone, but hey, we all understood why, right?), so sweet, so shy, and because she loves Willow so much... She's one of those kinds of people who I'd wanna reassure constantly, and tell them that's there's no reason at all to have no or little self esteem.

I also think it's great that a lesbian couple is presented so realistic in an American show, without promotion-stunts or anything... Where I live TV networks never really make an issue out of those so-called 'unconventional' relationships, but I've learned they -sadly- often do in the US... That's why I think it's awesome that Joss treats them like a normal couple, a couple that has something so beautiful (true love), so beautiful it often makes me jealous watching em together... (*g*, it really does... makes me all achy for a boyfriend -or girlfriend, you never know... )

Great idea =)
I'm from Argentina, so my language is spanish, but we call it castellano. Countries from all latin america use words like "tu" for "you" but we use "vos" We're like, "americans", and the other countries "british", we really change the language, if you know what i mean.

AMOOOOOO A WILLOW Y TARA!
Posta

Because Monday night is special - It' BUFFY night!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Or more specifically Willow and Tara fix night. Oh the joy on all the kiddies faces as they eager lap up their dinner and brush their teeth. Hopeing to keep the good graces of the parental models wielding the dreaded pointed finger. Praying that the darn clock would just tick over a little fast tonight.

It was a mere chance that I saw "Hush" on a computer at the dorms where I live, and after that Amber Benson became my new "Hollywood-heroine"! And of course the relationship between Will & Tara... - I want one just like that!

The stupid thing is that Norwegian television has stopped sending Buffy, but luckily there are ways... so this Easter I devoted episodes 605-617. Tara just keep getting more and more beautiful, and I can hardly wait for the continuation *s*

Hi:

I am also from Taiwan.

There are many fans in Taiwan who just looooove Willow and Tara.

We have websites and groups that collect information and discuss about them.

Hej Keylin.

Hey Keylin.

You could registre, we need some Scandinavians on the board. :D

But it'snice to be able to write in mother-language some times...and it's even cooler when someone understands you!! And you are right..Amber just gets prettier and prettier ;)

Hei igjen Sarah!

Keylin

Hello again Sarah!

Hm... I am registered so it was probably just a small slip from my side that made me come up as unregistered user... i think.

We have to enlist more Scandinavian as Willow and Tara fans. To bad it seems that no one in Norway knows about Tara. Sad for them, don't u think?

Anyway, from this moment I'm going to get more active on this board, so we at least have two active Scandinavians here! ;)

Hey Keylin

-Sarah

Could you please post a translation to what you are saying? The occasional sentence is fine, but I really like to know what you are saying.

Spiller du høyt oppe i divisjonene?

---------------------

Ok, translating... well the first part it's about our different nationalteam in womens handball, and which of them is going to win the European championship... There is kind of a war between my and Sarah's country...

And the rest....

They started sending promos for season 4, but for some reason they never sent it. So only season one through 3 have been aired. Lame if u ask me! Where I live I can't get any Danish television stations. At moms we get it, but I'm only there at Christmas and in the summer, but it was a good suggestion! I have seen as far as they've gotten in the states, but I want Buffy on my TV!

God, my English suck...

Hvor er sitatet ditt fra, Sarah?

Hej Keylin!

-Sarah

Hi Keylin.

No no no...you are sooo wrong! We got the best players! Tonje Kærgård...do I have to say more?? Else Marte Sørli aren't as good as her!! Camilla Andersen, is in a league of her own...! We'll win the next time...your players are old...! :grin Our new team is far better than yours!! :) Hehehe

And yes, I do play Handball. I've played since I was 3...I'm 17 now! We play in the next best league on our year! But we aren't doing good this season...sucks! What league do you play in...and where do you play on the field??

I know how you feel, I'm downloading from the net to watch Buffy too! But try asking your mother if see can see Danish TV2, it's worth the try...!

And my quote?? It's from the movie: Blinkende lygter. Have you seen it??

Hola!

Saludos a Todos!!

Hi! I'm from Mexico and the thing that i have to say about BtVS is that i started to watch it all from the sudden and i realized that Alyson Hannigan played a part there, and i've always liked her movies . The best thing was when i realized that she had a relationship with Tara , I Loved it!! , I've always loved their Story and how they (Joss and Company) have managed that gay/lesbian relationships subject, i mean, everything has been taken so Natural and i like that they put much emphasis in Love, and they don't make any difference just because it's a Lesbian couple. Within the months and days i've turned myself into a really BtVS fan 'coz besides it has my favorite Tv Couple ;) It's an Excellent TvSeries!! The only thing i regret is that i didn't start to watch it since the beginning, but it doesn't matter, coz in spite of i've only watched less of the half of the eppies, It really worth it!!

Greetings for Everyone!
