Alyson on TV

Anything about Willow & Tara, Alyson Hannigan and Amber Benson.

Re: Southern Belles

Postby Taz » Sat Jun 29, 2002 1:56 am

My moms family is from Arkansas and my Dads side is from Mississippi I haven't been down there in like 20 years but two minutes into a conversation I sound like a big ole backwoods hick. The southern accent, you can run but you can't hide.

I refuse to believe that this is all. ~~Xiren Everything

You mean there are more Kittens in Atlanta????

I've been living here for about 9 months, moved from Birmingham,Al. I know dreadpirateemily lives here too, but I haven't met her yet. Just saw her in the Atlanta Pride parade, cause she posted where she was riding in the parade.

Cool!!!

nothin'

Postby maudmac » Mon Jul 22, 2002 11:07 pm

Okay, this really doesn't have anything to do with anything, but I just have to say that I know lots of people born and raised in the South who don't have Southern accents, myself included. It's funny to get the "You're not from around here, are you?" in my hometown.

I know what you mean about accents, or lack thereof, maudmac. When someone says to me "You're not from around here, are you?" I respond "I was born in Richmond Virginia, moved to Milwaukee Wisconsin, then lived most of my life in New Orleans. However, my parents were from Illinois and Iowa." Then I usually get that blank stare and something like,"I knew you sounded like you were from New Orleans." ????? Then they clam up.

Whatever. That was even before I moved to Birmingham or Atlanta.

I don't think I have an accent.

Janice

PS It's really, really hard for me to give one syllable answers, as some folks here may have observed.:)

DaffyQDuck, Aly's part maybe equals fifteen minutes total. I think. Maybe not even that. I haven't seen the movie in a long while. She's one of the friends of the girl that the main character wants to date or something like that. This movie is actually pretty funny, but you have to have that sort of sick, morbid sense of humor since the plot is 2 guys trying to find a suicidal guy for their roommate so that when he kills himself, they can receive straight A's for the semester.

For Canadians, Alysons Pickett Fences episode is on tonight.

Postby Incarnadine » Sun Jul 28, 2002 1:00 pm

Was just on but repeats again at 7pm PST on the Mystery Channel (channel 99 for us West Coasters). She only appears in the 2nd half of the show but as always she puts in a great performance in a small part.

Thanks, Incarnadine. Managed to catch the show. Though a small part, Alyson's peformance did stand out. The scene she stole was when her character sat in the witness box in court, crying and describing how someone had raped her. No one can cry like Aly.

Please be advised that the Starz cable network will be showing American Pie 2 on Saturday, August 10 at 8:00 PM EST.

I'm sure I don't have to remind everyone here that Aly is the only reason to see this flick, and that the Band Camp sequences make the whole thing worthwhile:D .

Teen Choice Awards

Postby AutumnT » Mon Aug 05, 2002 6:46 pm

There were some pictures of this event that went out with Aly today. The reason she was there was she was picking up an award for "Best sidekick". Sarah got two awards as well. Look for them when the show airs Monday, Aug. 19 at 8 p.m. on FOX.

American Pie on Channel 4 in the UKI

Postby Mandal the Vandal » Mon Aug 19, 2002 4:41 am

For all UK Kittens who like me do not have satelite TV. American pie featuring the the Lovely Aly is on Channel 4 this coming Saturday(24th August) as part of their Teen flicks season (ironically before Angel and following on from Cruel intentions with SMG last week.)

The time I have is 9.00pm but can not confirm this.

Enjoy - though I have not actually ever seen the film so have no idea if any good or how much Aly is in it - no doubt some Kitten out there can supply more info. on the film.

For those of you not watching the Bronco game a reminder that Aly is going to be on the Teen Choice awards on FOX tonight. I'm much too old to watch those things but I suspect some of you here can still handle it. ;)

I wonder if it makes me more of a lesbian or less of one that when confronted with the choice of watching either:

1. the lovely & sexy AH and

2. a bunch of grunting sweating men overdosing on their own testosterone

it's not even a contest, a no-brainer, a world class "duh!" of a choice?

Broncos baby, always and forever.

Don't get me wrong, I love Willow and AH, but I don't wear special outfits just to watch them when they're on TV.

LOL. And here's to special outfits. Plus, let's not forget that the Broncos were actually mentioned on Buffy once in The Initiative.

Still, those of us watching football are depending on the rest of you to tell us about Aly's acceptance speech. :)

Oh yes...The one and only reason I refrain from dumping on Riley...."How about them Broncos!" With that line, he was almost tolerable.

Sadly, I'm too "age challenged" to be watching the teen choice awards myself. Sorry Aly, but I'm going to be looking for Autumn on top...er, in the upper levels of Mile High at Invesco tonight on MNF. Was that the west side of the stadium you said, Autumn? And oh happy day, I'll be able to pull my old Shannon Sharpe jersey out of the closet once again!

GO BRONCOS! And thanks for everything TD...*sniff*

Well I only saw the first hour of the show, so I don't know if Aly was shown on TV after she won for AP2, when she came out to present, they said she won for best sidekick, but we didn't see her win that award :mad I have to say I was disappointed, not with Aly but with the morons they put with her.

First she came out with not one, not two, but three NSYNC guys :stop as if one wasn't enough, they did this stupid bit with one of them with a metal detector looking for some watch, and Aly said a few things but she was too far away from the mic to understand what she was saying, then because she was up for the award, the guys sent her to her seat, when she walked off she was sooo cute, she had this big goofy smile on :love then when they announced that AP2 won, she came back onstage with some of the other people from AP2 and she didn’t say anything because Shannon Elizabeth did all the talking and since they didn’t let any of the winners for very long, that was that, but we did see Aly tongue :p

Aly was too cute for words, as always ;)

I too thought the NSYNC guy's were total morons! I know Aly had no control over that but God! it was aweful to put her with them. I loved the part where she got all excited when she walked toward the stairs that had fans waiting with high five hand's extended. She was too cute! :)

Oh, they were NSYNC morons. I knew they were morons but didn't catch who they were. Well, it was disappointing because I wanted to hear her speech. We heard more from her reciting the rules outside the theater than on stage. She was cute tho! At least SMG got to give a speech when they showed only 1 of her 2 wins & Tobey McGuire won 3 & gave 1 speech.

Re: Teen Choice

Postby Cipher » Tue Aug 20, 2002 6:27 pm

They didn't seem to show anyone receiving more than one individual award, and I think when they mentioned the "also won for..." they didn't show that at all. So they didn't show Aly getting Choice Sidekick or SMG for Buffy (I forget the exact category) and just mentioned those awards when they went up for something else. They seemed to lean more towards showing the movie awards rather than TV awards and showing the more general categories and not showing more specialized categories.

Aly leaned into the microphone for her most important line, but then she (naturally) turned to look at the person she was talking to and the microphone missed the second half of the line (you can hear it if you listen closely). That's what happens when you put four people in front of a podium with a single microphone and then try to act out a skit. Still, their presentation was smoother (or at least more natural) than some of the other presenters who had typical sucky award-show banter.

The best moment of course, was when Aly was "banished" to the audience before they announced the winner and she broke out in that goofy grin to greet fans as she returned to her seat. I had to mention it in the crack-ups thread (with a recreation for those who missed it, though the pictures linked above are probably more clear than my description).
