—2.10, What's My Line? - Part Two
Just found out you're the Slayer, and feeling a bit overwhelmed? Never fear, it's all right here in Technicolor goodness: the dos, the don'ts, the whys, the wherefores, even a few what's whats. There's also some notes from the Slayers' diaries, just in case you don't hail from Sunnydale.
Study up—it's your neck on the line (literally)!
The Slayer's Handbook is the first major supplement for the critically acclaimed Buffy the Vampire Slayer roleplaying game. Written by BtVS RPG scribe and game guru CJ Carella, this is another gorgeously designed hardcover rulebook with more goodies than you can shake a stake at. Within its 160 full-color pages of glossy goodness you will find:
* Background on being a Slayer, tales of the Slayers and advice for Directors on using Slayers in their games. Not only does this include information on just what it’s like to be a Slayer, but it also details other Slayers such as “The First Slayer” and everyone’s favorite rogue—Faith.
* New character creation ideas, qualities and drawbacks, and a bevy of additional character archetypes, including the Former Runaway Slayer and the Victorian Watcher (see sample pics at
www.btvsrpg.com/6002.htm). * An extended arsenal of weapons and techniques for taking down the Big Bads—when “No Weapon Forged” will do . . . including equipment from different eras: pulp 20s-30s, Wild West, cyberpunk and more.
* Guidelines for alternative settings in a Slayer-oriented game, including different places, times and histories.
* Three ready-to-play mini-settings for Slayers of all shapes and sizes, complete with Supporting Cast, Big Bads and episode ideas.
* A complete Episode continuing the Djinn plotline begun in the BTVS corebook.
The Slayer’s Handbook for the official Buffy the Vampire Slayer RPG is out now, available from your local game or bookstore, or direct from Eden Studios.

Well, I was a co-author, so that is something.
And this was one of the first books that included play-testers recruited from the Kitten Board (something NO other Buffy-based board can claim).
Kirk and I ran the very first SIT through her paces when these pages were still just paragraphs. The first SIT ever used? Sennen from the Willow & Tara based fic “Coming Up Roses”. Sadly Sen is not in the book, but she did help me when I was writing up Kendra’s SIT stats.
Plus it has some great Faith stuff in it, so that can’t be all bad!
So if you are enjoying the game, this is a great addition. I used it for my alternate-Season 6 in which Buffy never came back and they had to get Faith out of the slammer to clean up the mess. Much more satisfying end than that other season 6 had.
