what may in fact be dumbass questions from me, but i want to know, and thusly, i must ask anyway.

Quote:
Paul then brought down his season four dvds from England(which are illegal to see on oil rigs)

i have nooooo idea what this means? am i very stupid? can someone explain?

and 2: we know it was shot on digital video, do we know more specifically what she shot it on? i'm all interested.....

peace out.

"The last thing she spoke about in regards to the show was that Joss had asked her to appear in the final eps. He wanted her to do the body on the floor thing, “you know the whole Joyce thing lying there eyes open” (her words). Amber told him no. That she wouldn’t do it, that these women meant to much to too many & to do that would just be cruel & she couldn’t do that

Reading this makes be sure that if they did ask Amber to come back to Buffy to do something to torture Willow and the fans she would tell them to shove it. Go Amber!

theatremouse: the oil rig thing is a joke that refers to the copyright warnings that appear at the start of our DVDs (I think US people get the FBI warning right?) that say it is for private viewing and cannot be shown in public places such as oil rigs, etc etc.

Willow: "Will that involve
getting up?"

Tara: "Eventually"

Willow: "Then I'm coming
out firmly against it"

The cell phone and DV specs

Postby bowieinberlin » Wed Sep 25, 2002 3:50 pm

I'm so glad everyone enjoyed how I arranged my cell phone and smokes just so, and that Holley's jalapenos complemented them so well.

As for specifics on what Amber used to shoot the film, I need to go back and check our tape, but I'm pretty sure she said they used a Canon XL DV. They edited using Final Cut Pro, and utilized an external sound facility. I think. Like I said, I need to go back and check the tapes. Amber said making a deal with SAG was what bumped up the costs, but that she only wanted to use professional actors.

Expect a link tonight or tomorrow to another interview with Amber.

The oil rigs comment came directly from the copyright information at the beginning of the DVD's. Apparently you can't watch them on oil rigs, schools, etc. I can't remember many more.

I hope to have the rest of my pics up by the time I go to bed tonight. I just have to see which from the Q&A I can salvage....grrr...damn camera.

oooooooh lovely. thank you so much. yay! now i understand the joke. (dude and you know it took me until now you actually really read that and think correctly of an oil rig? anyone else ever read something and think of something entirely different and realize it later?)

Small post

Postby Jimmi Magnus » Wed Sep 25, 2002 5:50 pm

What can one say about this weekend that haven't allready been said?

The Kitten's are great people....in case anyone wondered. Thanks to you guys for making my trip worth the while!

And in case nobody mentioned this: Chance is a good movie, and that girl who plays the lead role of Chance (one Amber Benson) is really nice too, and she looks like someone who can act as well.

Besides from not being able to go shopping in the area around The Redmont, everything was good. I even got a small Amber Benson original, wich I will be framing tomorrow.

On a sad note, however, I do get why she has a bodyguard with her at all times.

Oh, and we must not ever forget the most memorable quote of the weekend, from the mouth of one anonymous kitten:

"I feel as if a kitten sat on my face all night"

I guess this girl was happy ;)

*blush* It's okay...I admit I said it. lol...I was still half drunk and didn't realize what I was saying when I said it. *blush* I can only wish I had gotten that lucky the night before...;)

And why does Amber have a bodyguard with her at all times? Or did you already tell me?

As for the pictures...well there are 2 ways to see the crap I came home with. You can go to the index of my homepage...much easier than posting individual links...or go to my briefcase at yahoo. At least at Yahoo you can get thumbnails...cause I admit...the file names don't make much sense. Anyway...here are those links.

Ambers Bodyguard

Postby Jimmi Magnus » Wed Sep 25, 2002 6:30 pm

Amber apparently had some people chase her car in Toronto (as far as I heard). And I guess it's a combination of that, and just the need to feel secure at all times. Just to have someone who will be able to step in and make sure that she can sit in a corner by herself for a few minutes, without anyone bothering her.

It actually does bother me that she needs a bodyguard, because one of the greatest things about Amber is that she's allways willing to meet her fans, chat with them, sign stuff and the likes. and if she has to start insulating her from her fans in some way...well it would just suck rear big time.

Edited because I suck at spelling.

Yes Amber is so giving to the fans, it would suck if she ever had to protect herself so much that she would make herself unaccessible to fans. So it's so important to give her space.

Great pics katydid!

My pics from sidewalk

Postby reyjawk » Wed Sep 25, 2002 8:16 pm

Here is a link to my yahoo briefcase. Just click on the sidewalk folder and this will drill down to my pictures that I have uploaded. I plan to put more up there later this week. I eventually hope to have a web page up but I keep running into ridiculous problems.

My favorite pictures of Amber are: Amber and Fish, Amber Wave. I also really liked the Amberbamans and the theater pictures. That theater was too cool. I could of spent all day exploring it.

Bodyguard

Postby strongwoman66 » Wed Sep 25, 2002 9:49 pm

Thank you guys for pics! It's so wonderful to see people enjoy the time with Amber. It's understandable that Amber wants a bodyguard. I think she just wants some space or maybe the festival staffs asked her to do that. I've a cousin who's a singer. She gets a bodyguard all day. But she still takes a lot of time to see her fans. She once told me it's just the order from her agent.

Cheers,

I just wanted to add my thanks to the kittens that got to see Amber and Chance. The more I read about her the higher my regard for her gets. Ms Benson seems to be an outstanding person. Thanks again for the reports on the movie and the food! You all were so lucky. I can't believe Amber was so close to me (Florida is not that far away from Alabama) and I couldn't go!! But I'm not bitter. Thanks again!

B'ham through cowtown glasses

Postby Populnaeus » Wed Sep 25, 2002 10:10 pm

Hello all,

First, I apologize about the not posting of the food reports last night. There was an incident at Wally world, and I had to be brought home and tucked in. Really. Sorry.

I got sent home today on an evacuation notice from my Health Dept job, so no work tomorrow either. If yall thought it was raining in B'ham, you should turn on the weather channel and look at MS.

If anybody hears from Anne-Marie and Rachel please let me know. I left them in Biloxi with strict instructions not to go to New Orleans if the Hurricane came this way. I'm very protective of my kitten friends and want to make sure everybody makes it home.

Here's my version of events: (no pics yet, the good photo place is closed on account of Hattiesburg about to float away)

Friday: Went to Jxn first, poptarts, and crangrape for brekkies. Rooted for food at my mom's on the way out of town, stole the last poptarts, and snuck out. The drive was easier than I thought, until actually in B'ham. Let's see, there were nanners in the car...oh, had a Subway sammich for lunch, and bought Nilla wafers and Skittles and juice. Cause when you need energy,Skittles and TMBGiants will get you there :) . Got to B'ham (in the rain, hmm, would you say there was a rain theme this weekend?) and WTF is up with all the one way streets?! Keep in mind I have to stick my arm out the window and be all 'getto-signal Laney' every time I make a turn. I was so happy to find the Redmont, I had this fear of driving around forever on these one way streets.

Got up to the room and met Anne-Marie and Rachel, after being stuck on the elevator. I mean, you just couldn't be stuck in an elevator with nicer people, but hey, it's still being stuck on an elevator. I was the one who finally opened the box and yelled for the Redmont staff to get us out. The best line? "Which elevator are ya'll in? We're in the one that isn't moving. (Pause) Because it's STUCK!" You couldn't ask for nicer roomates. I mean, hey, British Kittens, how cool is that? They let me chill for a bit and then we went to eat dinner at... yes, the famous Chez Lou Lou. Keep in mind that I am totally amazed by the fact of hills, actual mountain type structures and curves. The whole cab ride I was all " Wow, ya'll, this is neat, we ain't got no hill and such in Miss." and other goober expressions. The driver finally found CLL and oh, yeah there was a Starbucks. I was impressed even further, living in a 0 Starbucks town. We ate outside on a wobbly table. (It was wobbly because it was over a sewer grate. The whole meal I was all a wiggins about something coming out of that grate. Too many horror movies as a kid? Nah!) I had a yummy tossed green salad with a strange but oddly pleasing vinagrette. And this was a real salad with all different kinds of leaves in it, not that crap brown at the edges icky salad. Then there was a wheat penne pasta with basil and pesto. Rachel had all these dift kinds of bread with different spreads. They were good too. To drink? What are yall implying? I was the picture of sober responsibility. I was like, the nun of alcohol (well, Friday anyway ;) . Just water. I had never heard of the other stuff on the list and I was so excited from the fact of actually being there and the severe amount of Skittles, that there was no need for extra sugar. We got back to the room where Anne-Marie and Rachel helped me sneak in my sleeping bag and we made a little nest for me to sleep. I kept waking up during the night thinking that it must be raining really hard.........

Saturday: I jump out of my nest (a first)and am raring to go eat breakfast or walk around. I'm out the door and off to the lobby. Hmm. Wow, it must really be raining I says to myself as I push the down button 1,000 times. Ok, remember in 'the Shining' with the elevators? Replace blood with water. It was raining. In the elevator. So, I took the stairs. Cause it's not supposed to rain in elevators. That just can't be good. Did anybody else start to feel like you were in some monster's intestine after running up and down those staris a couple of times? (oh wait, that was later, there may have been alcohol involved.)We ended up eating at the Lyrics place across from the Alabama. Hmm. I had an egg sammich and hash browns,Rachel had something with bacon. The Brit Kits were amused by the hash browns and the application of katsup to them. We had to take pics in the faux 50's atmosphere.

More later, as I am very pooped. I'm loving all the stories everybody is posting.

Hey! Just got a call from Anne-Marie and Rachel, they are back in B'ham and trying to decide about going to Memphis. I'm so glad they are not in New Orleans! I'll be a crazy posting fool tomorrow because of no work. (Unless of course we lose our power, then it would be kind of pointless. And sad.) Laney

Amber is indeed very hot in glasses. ;) In that particular picture she is looking at my copy of the latest W/T comic. She hadn't even seen one yet and was pouting that she didn't have any copies. But then she laughed because she "knows what's in it" so she figured she could be patient.

She's adorable. Have I mentioned that?

Re: Still haven't seen.....

Postby Hemiola » Thu Sep 26, 2002 8:02 am

All right, been through this whoooooole thread, and I still haven't seen:

1. A description/plot summary of the film--this is important given that the chances for actual distribution/release of the flick remain "iffy". I understand that there are supposedly some "copyright" concerns about this (although I really don't see why--I could summarize/describe the action of "Casablanca" without giving away the ending). And please don't give us this "girl-looking-for-love" summary: that could be the plot of about oh, I dunno, about 5,000 different flicks!

2. A transcription of the post-viewing Q&A. Didn't someone record this?
