hey guys, i dunno if this was already posted somewhere else on this board but here's some news for you if you planned on going just to see Amber:

Amber's rep phoned us today and let us know she will be filming a movie and has to reschedule her appearance at METRO. She is now coming to METRO Santa Barbara on Saturday, January 25th. All tickets will be honored for the January 25th date. The November 16th 5pm event is unchanged, with Emma Caulfield, Juliet Landau and Elizabeth Anne Allen all appearing.

Hadn't Amber mentioned at Sidewalk that she was pretty much expecting to be doing a film in mid or late October? I think at the time she said it wasn't quite "150% sure", although she was pretty sure...and that she was going to be playing a gay character? For some reason that's ringing a bell with me. Anyone who went to Sidewalk remember this? Doesn't necessarily mean it's the same film, but the timing would still be about right if it were.

Can I just offer the suggestion that the thread title be changed to Rescheduled or something like that just so it gets pointed out to people who may not have seen the latest update. Just trying to be helpful

And yay for Amber, can't think of a better excuse for having to delay a signing either. Now just gotta find out what the film is. And can I say its good to see that the first thing she does is reschedule the signing, again she shows a tonne of class.

Note: at sidewalk when amber spoke of doing a film in October that was a gay themed thing - I believe it was another indie type film and involved a midwestern? male coming to LA and learning to deal with his sexuality. So she may or may not be playing a lesbian character in this film.



I was under the impression she was also being approached for another film? but not sure about that rumor



guess we won't know what this movie is until she does a con or signing and kittens get the scoop

I believe that the other movie was one that would possibly be shot in Alabama if she was in it at all. That was just the impression that I went away with - I base that solely on the fact that if the "gay" themed one is in LA it is unlikely to be the same one.



Also my impression, and it is just an impression, was that (the AL possibility) was likely to be in 2003? Perhaps someone who actually talked to her could sort my impressions out from the "facts."

OK, here's my take on the movie(s) Amber has lined up. I might be wrong (aah, Radiohead), but based on what Amber said at the Q&A and to me, she's got two things in the works.



First up the "gay-themed movie," which I believe she said would be shooting in November as long as things worked out.



Second is the project she's working on with producer Teri Owens. Both said they believed this would be filmed early next year, January-ish, and possibly in or around Birmingham.



Of course, I'm sure things have shuffled since then, but that's what was said at Sidewalk.

There is a Terry Owens on IMDB who has been a transportation coordinator on a number of movies/tv project but no Teri Owens producer. I understand the state film director was at sidewalk and did speak of a major studio film to be shot in AL - is that the one your thinking of?

I'd rather not publicly discuss my opinions about the lack of info about Owens, but the info I have is from the horse's mouth. However, I doubt Amber's project with her will be a big studio affair. Feel free to e-mail or IM me if you must know, though.



Yes, Brian Kurlander, head of the Alabama Film Office, was at Sidewalk. The film he spoke of was Tim Burton's new project, "Big Fish." It will be shooting at Huntigdon College in Montgomery. The book it based on was apparently set in Auburn, but according to Kurlander, Burton said Auburn's architecture was too colonial and not gothic "enough." The film stars Ewan McGregor. There is no relation to Amber as far as I know.



Besides, Kurlander couldn't care less about small projects in the state. Many of the filmmakers at Sidewalk expressed this sentiment to me, and based on my conversations with Kurlander at Sidewalk and at the Capri Theatre last month, Burton is like his savior or something.

The guy want's to attract the big movies. I think that's the only (read: easiest) way he can prove to his bosses that the film office is making a difference for the Alabama film industry.

Hello Kitties,

I was planning to be in LA on business next week, so I bought a ticket to see Amber. Now my meeting has been rescheduled and I can't make it to the signing. Since this would have been my first signing and I'm not sure about the rules at Metro, I was wondering if I could pass my ticket onto another kitten. I'm in the first 100 people and I'd be happy to have someone make use of the ticket. Vicarious Amber is better than no Amber at all...
