Now that's funny. And actually... it umm... sparks some yummy images in my mind... hee hee... I think I'd watch it too... hey! they could be the new hosts for trading spaces!! (paige has got to go... how sad is that?? i know HER NAME!!! ack!) :D

Ummm... but Garner... I WOULD want to see a few smootchies, too... call me CRAZY... (hee hee)

kc070697, don't feel bad for knowing Paige's name, I know all the designers on that show AND the types of designs that each one usually does! Of course, now everyone will tease me for that, but hey, they tease me anyway, so who cares. Frank does some great work when he manages to get away from the southwestern chicken motif. I like Vern's stuff too, very edgy and modern. He needs to decorate my bedroom for me.

oh crap, this is totally off-topic, isn't it ....... er .... umm ..... yes, Willow and Tara steal the show. mmm hmm. absolutely. :grin

Oh most definitely. I think with the fan base Willow and Tara have at the moment, they wouldn't have much of a problem keeping a show. I think taking Dawn along with them might be a good idea and then introduce some original characters. But I would tend to go with the idea of using the show to explore Tara's background a bit more. There is so much to learn about her still and so much Willow and Tara could experience together. The Pens proves that.

Though, if that were to happen, the producers would have to hire some of the kittens as writers. ;) I mean, who would be better to write them? Certainly not the writers BtVS have at the moment.

Well considering that Willow was really the only one of the Scoobies that I actually liked (I have a problem with both Buffy and Xander) in Seasons 1-3, and Tara became my other favourite character in S4 I say a resounding yes!

But even on a less personal level, had they created a spin-off the potential for storylines would have been limitless and, more to the point, it would have entertained.

Well, I suppose that the only thing I can think of to soothe our pain is that with TV, as with writing, imagination is everything. Just look at how DC Comics killed of their ENTIRE UNIVERSE of characters and then brought them back as different people!! Anything is possible, i think... if the writers are willing to try. Tara and Willow could host their own show without even breaking a sweat.

*grin*

But a sweat WOULD be kinda nice to watch... hee hee...

Ummm... I know... it's awful. My wife can't stop watching it... it's an addiction... I like Laurie's stuff for the most part... and Vern's. But who's Frank kidding? He's flaming... and all he does is talk about his "wife"... *GASP* puh-leeze....

Oh, yeah... and I'm with you, ummm... we're not OT... right? WILLOW AND TARA ROCK! OK... see? All better... *grin*

I think they could certainly carry their own show....but I would like to add Faith as a permanent cast member too. Better yet....can we just add Faith to every show on TV??? I would never sleep again. Even better can we just have an entire network devoted to W/T and Faith. That would be the most wonderful thing I've ever seen.

A Willow & Tara spin-off would be the best show on T.V. anywhere. The title of the series could be "Wicca" and the first episode could feature Willow being initiated as a wiccan by Tara. I think that it should also include Dawn, but not anyone else from the Scoobies, and should be set somewhere other than Sunnydale or L.A.

Oh my, did someone mention a cooking show?

That just tickles my funny bone! :) "Cooking with Willow and Tara".

Oh and now I've got this image in my head of the two of them up to their elbows in mud re-doing someone's backyard.

NOT ONLY STEAL IT... THEY ARE THE BEST OF THE SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A W/T show would be not only good, great or wonderful... that would be a BLESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've ever told that the concept of the magic couple is so marvelous that they (W/T) should have their own show: Magic, rituals, dimensions, powerful warlocks and spell casters... a dream made real... but, the first of all, the eternal and true love of willow and Tara flooding the screen once a week.

OMG, I can almost visualize it... :D :drool :bounce

Now would it be better in sitcom format or drama? :hmm

Well either would have me glued to the TV screen (wait, I'm already glued to the TV screen... damn! :laugh )

Seriously, with a good ensemble of characters and good storylines (so no :joss ), it could definitively be a hit!

It reminds me of an episode of Angel where Cordelia is in an AU and has her own sitcom, "Cordy" :rollin

make mine a hell yeah on the rocks with a side of a tasteful dance of the portrayal of such a great idea

i was always a willow fan and watched buffy , but when Tara came along something just changed , and let me just say i was overjoyed. they have brought so much , and some of the best interpretations of a relationship that had depth.

IMO it would have to be a drama , but with edges of subtle humour.

and , Faith would be gooooooooooood. i'm sure she would bring many new 'aspects' to the production.

I hate to sound like a trendy Anne Rice wannabe, but I think the show would have to take place in New Orleans- not only is it romantic, it's scenic, and packed with atmosphere.

It is also the one true epicenter in this country for every cast of magic and spiritual belief imaginable.

And talk about a melting pot of cultures!

You could also do little send-ups of everything from the Goth scene, the romance novel industry, to the music industry. Personalities like Anne Rice, Poppy Z. Brite, and Trent Reznor could be savagely parodied.

And if all of that is'nt enough to convence you, think of this; it gets humid in New Oleans. Real humid.

Which would make the types of dresses Will and Tar usualy wear.. clingy..

Heh.

N'Awlins would be great. However, I would also put a vote in for Faith's (as well as Eliza's!) home of Boston. It's so close to Salem . . .

Until S3 I realy liked this vampire-slaying-thing (and also Buffy + Angel) but since S4 Buffy (herself) became sorta boring. I didn't like Riley, never liked Xander and Anya and, well, Oz was just someone sorta cute but not essencial on the show.

Meanwhile, Willow was becoming more and more important on the show and, after Hush, Willow and Tara became so important that they were the only reason I watched BTVS. I almost never recorded (is this right?)BTVS until S4 but now I have seasons 5 and 6 on video, why? Just because of W/T.

I don't care if Buffy is with Riley, Spike or some other guy or if Xander will still be with Anya. The only thing I consider important on the show is Willow and Tara. For me they're the heart of this show.

Hmmmmm... may I suggest going cable?

Re: WT on their own

Postby Verdant » Tue Sep 10, 2002 10:02 am

I think one of the biggest mistakes Whedon made was closing the possiblity of spinning of Willow and Tara. At the beginning of Season 5 I told all my friends that the smartest move ME could make would be to to sping off WT after the main show died. They could approach Showtime and be part of the "gay scheduling block." Cable + WT = guaranteed sucess.

New Orleans as the city for the show sounds great.

I'VE WRITTEN SOME IDEAS FOR THIS DREAMED NEW SHOW (it'd begin in England and the first 4 episodes into a "rolli'n coaster Willow's quest" to bring Tara to live again inside a epic-gothic-apocalyptic-fantastic ultimate dimension.

I have some characters created like "ELDARTH", the "RUNE MASTER", and wonderful places like the "CATHEDRAL OF DEMONS' BONES". If you, all the Kittens W/T fans, want to read some of this project, please tell me (AND, IF YOU CAN, TELL ME WHERE CAN I WRITE IT DOWN FOR ALL OF YOU) I beg an apologize for my writing (English is not my mother language and I have not much time to practice it) but I'm glad to make and effort for the characters I love and a so amazing community like us.

how about 'The Lesbian Witch Show?' :)

Postby Mrs Vertigo » Tue Sep 10, 2002 1:12 pm

Who else could shoulder an entire show from the whole BtVS cast? With all do respect, Xander and Anya might do for an all-American show about… marriage. Yeah, I know they didn’t in cannon, but that’s their focus and that’ll be the show they could handle. Though I wouldn’t give it more than a season to wear itself out.*coughEVERYBODY-HATES-RAYMONDcough*

Nah, Willow and Tara can have a whole show ‘cause they have more than one focus. Besides the obvious attraction of a show about magic or a lesbian couple they could also go into more difficult terrain like addiction (Willow’s magic trips) and child abuse (Tara’s past? They never lifted that vale onscreen). Also, at the start of season 6 they looked for all the world like they were developing into full fledged evil fighters in their own right and not just as Buffy’s sidekicks. And just look at Bargaining I and II; I’m pretty sure Giles wasn’t the dominant character there…

And yay to keeping Faith on board! She’s a complicated character and would make a great sidekick for a W/T show. Not in the sense of actually being a sidekick… humm… not the Faith thing at all… but if Willow with the main character the power struggles would be fascinating. Spike’s a well-meaning boy but without Buffy to obsess about his character can pretty much just go back to being the big bad (that he’s sooo good at being).

Urn,

We've talked about this a lot and are in complete agreement. W/T could defnitely carry a show on their own.

The first ep I ever saw was "Hush". I was pulled in by how clever it was. I had no idea where things were heading with the two of them, and as I found out what happened, I was a little tenetive. But, VERY shortly I found that i was watching just for the W/T interraction because they are so cute.

I agree that the show would require a decent ensemble that revolves around the two characters. No show is easily carried by 2 characters alone.

I like the idea of the family unit of Dawn, Willow, and Tara. And have thought on several occasions that things would have been better for everyone if Buffy hadn't been resurrected.

Obviously there would be a need for male characters as well. Xander could be worth keeping around if he can stop his pathetic crap and be a man. No angst intended there. It's just the yellow crayon things seriously got on my nerves.

I think really the ideal situation when SMG leaves would be to bring Tara back, make Dawn a young slayer, and have the existing Scoobs look after her and train her.

W/T would be the emotional support at home that she would need (the parental figures that she should have had anyway).

The show could continue quite nicely with that scenario and the fact that Willow would have "controlled" powers, while Tara could use all of her power when they were in a jam.

Great ideas. We should do it together!

Postby chilled monkey » Tue Sep 10, 2002 3:28 pm

I like what I'm reading. I like it a lot!

If anyone is doing a Willow/Tara "virtual spin-off series", then please put it up on Pens.

It would be great to see Willow bring Tara back, having learned how to use magic responsibly.

I also have a suggestion for a possible Big Bad; how about St. Vigeous, the vampire patron saint mentioned in the episode "School Hard".

Well I only know of any actual spinoffs, but there are quite a few reconstructions of the show where W/T are at the centre of things, and I won't mention names to avoid turning this into an advert. :)

Postby EffieBlue » Thu Sep 12, 2002 3:06 am

They could easily have their own show.

I wouldn't see them based in one place. Maybe the first feature length ep would be in New Orleans. Like the comic, W/T and D go for a holiday, the usual happens, mystery, vampires, and all things bad.

Then I would have them take off, travel, leave Buffy to babysit the sunnydale hellmouth and W/T & D become a travelling "hellmouth hit squad" checking out prophesies etc. They would have a big R.V. and along the way they would "collect" a few like minded people. Occasionaly dropping in on Sunnydale and L.A. when extra back up was needed. Sort of taking up where Dean Koontzs' "One Door Away From Heaven" ends

I have no idea what I would call the show, but I'm sure that the pens writers could easily come up with a title and scripts, no problem.
