Spike - 584

Tara - 582

Willow - 201

I know it's hard to keep up for so long, but this is just not acceptable... gotta show people the Kittens' power again.

Have you noticed the character descriptions have changed a little; for instance -

"Tara's a bit dead after seeing red."

:rolleyes

I just read the descriptions under the characters for the first time........does anyone else think that the person who made this poll is a spike fan? Cuz he has a very favorable description. I'm glad to see Willow is catching up and that Tara is still holding off spike.

I am guessing the person doesn't speak English as a first language, all of the descriptions seem a tad awkward.

You'd think one of the more savvy members in here would have come up with a program that would automatically vote every 2 minutes. I know it can be done because a friend of mine enjoyed making similar programs in the past. You can bet it happens quite a bit.

Welcome to the funvote banned club! Thought I was the only one. Didn't use a program but i still racked up about 200 votes one rainy day. Guess they probably thought that was odd.

Wow, we sure made quite the effort today, Willow and Tara are more than 1000 votes ahead. They're pretty much neck-in-neck, though Tara's ahead by 4 votes at the moment.

Well, umm...not that I KNOW anything about this. ;) But the site is protected, that is to say there is enough security to the site to not allow a bot...umm I mean a program to vote automaticly. :)

But again, I know NOTHING about anyone even trying to do so. ;)

I did try.

The CGI is a bit confusing and there are various other safegards in place.

Can't exist in a frame, the vote page must the one loaded...

I am still thinking about it.....

Re: RE:vote for the girls

It's really not that hard. Each ``vote'' has a specific URL. So, just ``get'' that URL, and then make sure to send the referral next of the main vote page. Do that once every two minutes. All they check is the referral.

If you don't buy it, telnet to the server (port 80, of course), and try it out. Then write a Perl script. It works, but it's not what I ended up doing.

If you have a unix-based system, you can use ``screen'' with a text-based browser (such as ``w3m'' or ``lynx''). In your screen session you can pipe the output of a command-line while loop to the browser. It works just as well, and I ended up doing this so I could see the page after to make sure the vote went through at any given time by just re-attaching to the screen session. That's how I knew when it started giving me access denieds. This also has the advantage of only taking about 30 seconds to set up.

But, they monitor, and they will ban you if you let it run overnight.

Shit, thanks LE.

I gave up on Unix/Linux years ago, but all my pages used to carry a "Lynx compatible" button on them. I guess I have forgot some skills.

But really. If I have to cheat is it the same? Granted I would love to see W/T 1,000s of points ahead of everyone, when I see them only a hundred or so I know it is because every Kitty here did that.

Right, that's why I didn't post anything to the group until it was brought up. I agree it's cooler to see the girls win from the sheer dedication of the W/T fans. I just did it basically for the hell of it. Helping Tara out was more of a fortunate side-effect.

Oh, and this was done last vote, before the reset, so the current results have none of this nonsense contributing to the totals.
