I posted this in the daily thread, but I just saw both Aly and Alexis on "American Idol" tonight. They were in the audience sort of moving to the music. Thought I'd let you know.

No kidding Autumn. That was a very bad, bad thing. So have we proven that as much as we love Aly, her general taste in parts leaves something for wanting?

On the movie itself I couldn't help but laugh every time half the people even opened their mouths. Now call me nitpicky... But glordy where did they get their accent coach? That guy (or gal) desperately needs to at least visit Oklahoma before getting all the actors to sound stupid. As a proud Southerner Redneck who once lived in OK, and self-proclaimed accent whore, those accents sucked. Very much. They sounded like they got lost on their way home to TN or even south AR. Okay, I feel a little better now. :)

I certainly concede the expertise to a genuine "okie", but I just melt into a little puddle of goo hearing AH do a Southern accent (don't get me started again on how I'd like to see a GWTW re-make with AH as Scarlett and AB as Melanie;) ).

I just watched an interview with Aly on the red carpet of American Idol. She didn't say much, only that she's a huge fan of the show and expected Kelly to win. She said she's very happy about starting Buffy's 7th season and that AP3's script is wonderful, she's very excited about it. They interviewed Alexis too and he said this is going to be one of the best seasons of Angel, especially for his character.

Aly was soooo cute (any news here???). Funny how, at one point, the reporter interrupted the interview to tell her how beautiful her eyes were... ;) She was wearing the same skirt from the Teen Choice Awards and a cute tanktop with huge letters/drawings that spelled "love". And her hair, wow! It's absolutely gorgeous. :drool

Sheila,

Where did you see that interview? I don't remember catching that last night. She's just too cute. And that Alexis is so completely adorable too.

Did you see her clapping to the motown medley? Aww, you can just tell she's rythmically challenged--both she and Alexis. She had this huge ol' smile on her face the whole time.

I work at a TV station and one of our reporters was at the red carpet and did the interview, so I got the raw footage tape.

This is from TVG.com for this Sat nite/Sun am at midnight. I find this plot description quite odd.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Doppelgangland

60 min.

After Anya (Emma Caufield) frees the vampire Willow from the alternate Sunnydale, the gang races to save Oz from his ghoulfriend's grip.

It's strange that this epi is on too, they've been in early season 5.

Alyson on American Idol Red Carpet

Postby sheila wt » Fri Sep 06, 2002 10:48 pm

Unfortunately, Alexis is much more talkative than Aly. I’ve noticed from several interviews that she’s not really much into going on and on about topics. She’s pretty much direct to the point and don’t necessarily elaborates much. I for one wouldn’t mind an attack of Willowbabble once in a while… ;)

I don’t watch Angel, but maybe there’s a tiny spoiler in Alexis interview, so be aware. I’m not sure if it can be even considered a spoiler, but better safe than sorry… the piece is on the second half of the interview.

American Idol Red Carpet

Aly and Alexis are smiling and hugging for the photographs. Alexis kisses her on the cheek and walks to the other side. The photographers ask for more pictures with Aly.

Aly goes to the fans and starts signing autographs, while Alexis gets closer to the reporters.

Alexis interview

Reporter (Katie): Hi there!

Alexis: Hi, how are you?

R: I’m fine, thank you. Are you an American Idol fan?

A: Definitely. Actually, I was late. I got into it about half way into the competition, but I’ve been hooked ever since.

R: In any words, describe what hooked you.

A: I don’t know… it just… it has a little bit of everything.

(Aly comes from the other side of the red carpet, all bouncy and cute, and starts to talk to another reporter right beside Alexis)

Alexis: You, like, feel for the contestants so much, but then, you know… it has great music and the audience is going insane. It’s just… it’s pure entertainment. I can’t exactly put my finger on it.

R: Who’s your favorite tonight?

A: I’m kind of a Kelly fan. I liked her right away, so I’ve been rooting for her ever since.

R: They’re the hottest stars on the carpet, really hard to grab a hold of them.

A: Oh my God, they’re just huge! I hope they’re having fun. I hope it’s not all hard work.

R: So, what’s going on with you?

A: We’re into a fantastic season of Angel. We’re in episode 3 of season 4. It’s just… it’s breaking out this year. They came up with fantastic stories and we’re just having a ball. It’s really, really exciting.

R: Anything you can tell me though? Or, not really?

A: Lots of hot sex for my character. That’s always nice, right? (laughs) I just get a little red when I go home… (points to Aly) but… no, no, it’s all safe.

R: It’s not weird with all the actors in another stage and all?

A: A little bit, yeah. You know, you just have to flip that switch, that’s part of the job. You know what, the scenes are kinda… like…

R: Flunky?

A: They’re like choreography anyway. They’re so technical, you wouldn’t believe it, but they’re really technical, so…

R: Most of the time.

A: Most of the time, yeah. Definitely.

R: Thank you. Thanks a lot.

Aly’s interview

R: So, you’re an American Idol fan?

Aly: I’m a huge American idol fan. Huge!

R: Who do you want to win?

A: Kelly.

R: Why? You have beautiful eyes, btw.

A: She’s just great! Thank you, thank you. She’s just fabulous. She can do no wrong in my book. I would listen to her voice everyday.

R: What’s going on with Buffy and the video game and all the stuff?

A: Oh, we’re doing all the Buffy… now back to our 7th season. And I guess there’s a video game either coming out or already out, I’m not sure. I just sorta wait till someone shows it to me, the sign. I’m like “Wow, more merchandise! Great!” (laughs)

R: And you’re going to be in American Pie 3, right?

A:Yes. We start that in January.

R: Is that exciting?

A: It is. It’s a great script. I’m really excited about it. So… yay! (absolute Willow moment here)

R: Thanks a lot. Have fun!

A: Thank you.

That's the weekend syndication which actually has two concurrent sequences (maybe more, but I'm getting two). One just showed Doppelgangland and the other recently started season 5 (I guess they are about 2 and a half seasons apart). For example on Saturdays they show episodes from one sequence (late season 3, I think) and on Sundays they show episodes from another point (early season 5, I guess). Of course the actual times they are shown (including Sat vs. Sun) depends on the local station carrying them. The important thing to note is that the episode on Sunday is not the episode that follows the one on Saturday, and vice-versa; but generally Saturday follows the previous Saturday, and Sunday follows the previous Sunday. Then of course there's the weekday syndication on FX which rips through seasons more quickly and has no connection with the weekend runs.

I don't generally watch the syndication (I have them all on tape, so there's usually no point), but I watched Doppelgangland because it's one of my favorites. I was disappointed that they cut Xander's line, "Can you believe the Watcher's Council let this guy go?" and probably cut others that I didn't notice.

Cipher--I saw The Real Me recently on the midnight show & am still kicking myself for missing Buffy vs Dracula the week before (I miss that epi a lot for some reason). So the midnight showing of Doppelgangland surprised me (in a good way 'cause it's my favorite...I have it on tape too). I don't think the 5 pm show was on Sat & maybe that's why they did Doppel.. at 12. I see that this Sat at 5 Enemies is on & there is no show at 12. The next Sat. is Choices at 5 (skipping Earshot) & none at 12. They used to be regular in showing different seasons at different times & not mixing em. I wonder if S5 is gone now. Anyhoo, after Willow says "and I think I'm kinda gay," they cut Buffy & Angel's replies. Have you noticed they cut Willow's lines 3 times in The Gift? :( Arrggh. Ooh, & in The Zeppo they cut her "Sometimes I'm callous & strange" after the marshmallow line. I can't wait to get the rest of the DVDs so I can give up the sliced syndication versions. Rant over.

Re: Buffy weekend syndication

Postby Cipher » Wed Sep 11, 2002 6:57 pm

Oh that's right, I noticed the "vampire personality" bit was cut, too, but I'd forgotten. I haven't seen most of the cut-down ones because I have my own copies and don't usually watch the syndication runs.

They might be pausing the season 5 run to get things in sync for when season 6 is added (to be three seasons apart, or rather half of 122 episodes apart, perhaps) or your local station might just be pre-empting it for sports, etc. Local sports contracts play havoc with weekend syndication schedules, and I guess football is just starting up as a likely culprit. They could also just be reshuffling their schedule for the new season of first-run syndication shows and maybe moved the season 5 run to another time (perhaps pre-empted by football at that new time) or are dropping it and carrying only one run of weekend Buffy from now on.

Is there a Buffy syndication thread this should be on instead?

American Pie (yup, the very first one with the flute quote) will air saturday sept 20th - 21.00 pm on Yorin (pronounced 'you're in', not 'urine', brilliant name isn't it?. :eyebrow

I haven't seen it yet, but I will now and tape it as well, Alyson will be worth it.

Re: Buffy weekend syndication

Postby Gatito Grande » Wed Sep 18, 2002 12:23 pm

At first I thought it was just furkin' FX that made these abominable cuts, but then saw that they were in the weekend syndication showings too. And it does seem like Willow's lines get disproportionately cut (though I always really miffed about the removal of Buffy's "William Burroughs" reference in NMR as well).

I was freaked a year ago when one of my local stations began showing BTVS beginning w/ "Anne." Then another one started w/ "Welcome to the Hellmouth" and I noticed that there were two different sequences going.

This may have been addressed on another thread, but does anyone know if any of the BTVS cast was at Sarah and Freddie's wedding---and are there any pictures of 'em if so? (The Romantic in me really wants to believe that Aly, Nick and Tony, anyway, would have been there---but then, what's that got to do w/ Show Biz?)

GG Aly, as interviewed by Gatito: "BTW, you've got really beautiful eyes . . . and smile. The way your lip curves up like that? Can I kis- . . . Hey! What? Who the hell are you? Oh, her 'boyfriend,' yeah, right! So, you're an actor, Big Whoop De Doo! I'm a member of the Fourth Estate, and this was a private interview we were . . . waitaminute, who are you guys? Oh, I get it, you're the 'muscle' here: 'American Idol's Salute to Steroids!' Get your hands off me, ya big . . . I'm calling the ACLU!" :evil Out
