amber sounds like she'd be a blast to interview. now i just need to come up with some excuse for why on earth i would ever need to interview her...

"really! i work for a magazine! what magazine? well that's not important, is it? let me talk to amber!"

sigh. so it looks like amber is playing tara as a lesbian, even if no one's ever said explicitly that she is...cool! much better than ellen degeneres as a nun.

YEs, I loved that. NO hesitation. Tara is def. a lesbian. And then her next statement is truly insane. Willow is just more out about it. HA HA, who would have thought? eh?

The second quick thing I noticed, before I go back and re-read is that as I knew she would, Amber has gottent the whole subtext thing down. She called it subtext in the Dallas interview. Here she starts to say subtext then quickly insists that it's not that any more. Love her!

Anyway, more thoughts on this interview. I love the way Amber just seems very entrenched in the Buffydom.
Ruth I love that line, two people who are kind and respectful toward each other. This is totally w/t for me. This line too: Were putting out there the idea that you can have a really wonderful, adult, mature, meaningful relationship with someone of the same sex.

That's what the relationship has been. Adult and mature.

Also, I guess it means that the folding of the arms must be Amber's idea.

If you read the interview on www.fabulamagazine.com you'll see a pic of her I haven't seen before.

I'm so happy with what she's said I'll only barely mention my befuddlement with all these actresses who claim they're not feminists while acting like they are - maybe I'll get a supply of dictionaries to hand out: "feminist: a supporter of women's claims to be given rights, opportunities, and treatment equal to those of men". Ya *don't* agree with that, girl?

Not that I want to see a stream of arguments on the f word on this board, like another one devolved into.

So, to re-state: she is *so* of the good.

Blacklab, thanks for the link to Fabula Magazine! The rest of the article makes interesting reading, with Jen Loy's take on Amber Benson's role in BtVS and Buffy fandom. Amber is way cool.

so what did we decide our magazine was called last night? TSM - The Stalking Magazine? or was it TMS - The Monthly Stalker? or something entirely different?

what sort of questions shall we ask her? i'm actually serious about this - if we could interview amber, or tell an interviewer what questions to ask, what would we want amber to talk about?

Yes that is a very common answer by young women today. I am a humanist. It's sad that the word conjures images of god knows what (bra burning, lesbianism, Gloria Steinem) I don't know. I wish young women would do something with it and own it. It's not a dirty word. Those are old piccies of a younger Amber. Cute! Thanks for the url blacklab.

Amber is so cool!!! And triple bonus points for use of the word "alas." I really like that she's so literate; it's too often frowned upon these days to be a totally out intellectual.

Amber's heart is in the right place, too. I love the part about her and Aly's attitude toward their characters. She must be so totally cool to hang with.

I finally was able to get to both pages of this thread, and therefore the interview. Oh, Amber Benson is definitely cool! She definitely has a head on her shoulders and seems to be a very nice person. I've yet to see a glimmer of arrogance. You know, a lot of stars trash the role-model idea, and Amber seems to consider it an honor and opportunity. Yes, I do love her so!

Btw, Xita, when I was 17 and later, I absolutely loved Gloria Steinem! She was one of the first people I'd ever heard say such radical things like women should get paid the same as men for doing the same job. You know, all that stuff women take for granted nowadays. I also remember she was about 35 then and it helped me not fear that I'd be worthless when I reached 30.

Teresa, I was into Gloria at one point as well.

Tim, I am not saying that people shouldn't move on and do new things. I mean Humanist is a great thing to be, but why not be a feminist as well? I think it's fear of the word.

Oh,and yeah feminism may be a tad scary,true.I don't think Amber or most others would disagree with it,though,(I don't need to say that,I'm sure ) which is why "Ya don't agree with that,girl?" got on my wick.

okay, yeah, i think that "Wiccan Monthly" sort of has too many menstrual connotations to actually want to claim i work for such a publication. (you know, "blah blah gaia, blah blah moon...") and TMS is just one letter away from PMS...so i think we've gotta go with TSM - The Stalking Magazine. what all discerning stalkers read these days.
