Thanks for the link. I've been waiting for this site to be completed for a long time.

There's and interesting article here called 'Teen Witches, Wiccans, and Wanna-Blessed-Bes: Pop-Culture Magic in Buffy the Vampire Slayer' by J. Lawton Winslade that has a nice section that explores the way the witch community on the show can be seen as a metaphor for the gay community. He writes: "...in the program, lesbian could be seen as the shadowy, unspoken other of witch. Both words are charged with cultural expectations and fears, just as the two groups are often associated with each other in areas of feminist spirituality. Indeed, much of the politics surrounding Wicca seem to parallel the gay and lesbian movement, even down to Wiccans borrowing a few terms, including the performative act of coming out of the broom closet.

There's some other very interesting gay/witch interpretation in this article, but it's hidden about half way through. Take a look at it here.

wow, this is a great article! i have a friend who's a professor of tv studies at brown and currently writing about buffy and the supernatural as a metaphor for adolescence. (i totally misspelled that, didn't i?) i'll have to let her know about this site!

there's also a good paragraph there that addresses the topic o' the day (wednesday). i think i'll go post it.
