Wahey! Excellent news. Is it just me, or has 'Buffy' been more recognised in terms of award nominations/mentions in 'Best Of..' lists this year? It's always been a critical favourite, but this year there really seems to have been a breakthrough.

I think the move to UPN, ugly as it was, got a lot of people's attention. They started looking at [i:e0d7a1bf42]Buffy[/i:e0d7a1bf42] seriously because so much money was being thrown around over it. Plus UPN has made a really big promotional effort this year, especially with the musical.

TV guide also picked Buffy as one of the best things on tv this year, it wasn't a top 10 list but I'll type up the small blurb tonight. I am glad the times recognizes BtVS.

I agree that BTVS is getting a little more recognition in the press because of all the money UPN spent to advertise the move. WB didn't seem to do much in the way of advertising, so maybe there's a better shot at an Emmy nomination as well next time around. UPN must be moistening their panties with all the mainstream-press attention for Buffy in these year end lists. I doubt they've ever tasted the sweetness of that before.

The audiences love Buffy.

UPN loves Buffy.

The magazines and pundits love Buffy.

So why the freakin' hell do the Emmy's not listen? Who runs the show?

You know Tommo, i've been asking myself that question a lot lately and i think it all boils down to envy. Joss and co. have created this intelligent show that tackles everything from the mundane to the fantastic. And on top of it all they get to beat up monsters every week. I'm sure it ticks alot of folks off that stories this good, that resonate with the audience, is found on a "fantasy" show.

I for one hope they get over their stereotypes and give Joss and co. the respect and awards we all know they deserve.

Same reason it took twenty years or so for Spielberg to win an Oscar for Best Director. Hell, all George Lucas got was a "Lifetime Achievement" Oscar -- read: Consolation Prize.

I do not really care if Buffy wins an Emmy anymore. What does that award mean if they judge a show by the amount of press it gets? It is not as if they did not know it exists. They nominated Hush, it did not win, ok mistakes happen, but there was *no* excuse for not nominating the Body and shoving every Emmy they have into Joss' hands, while begging for forgiveness for not doing it sooner.
If Buffy wins one now, it will be too little too late. *grumble*
Still I want to see nominations, if only so we can get to watch our lovely cast attending the ceremony.

You better believe UPN will be selling the hell out of Buffy come Emmy nomination time. There's a lot of campaigning that goes on and a series nomination would be a huge deal to the UPN. I'm betting they'll spend a pretty penny in promotion.

This is such great news. I love that Buffy's getting more recognition. I'm also getting to the point where I don't even care if Buffy gets an Emmy or not. I'd love to see that, don't get me wrong...but if Buffy continues to be the show that's too hip for the Emmy room, so be it.

Hmmmmm apparently Buffy gets due recognition from media without an emmy, so what... big deal it dosent say the EMMY award winning show BTvS?

Whats an EMMY anayways, if theyre not letting joss have one, for breaking the freaking boundaries of network television to
make a good show I say thats theyre problem.

It would be nice to see buffy win an emmy, but it dosent really matter. All an emmy is, is an award, and since they havent given one to buffy they must not pay attention to excellence. Sorry If i've gone off topic, but you kitties should know me by now....

Buffy has always deserved an Emmy, but hey, if the cast even gets nominated, I'll actually watch the Emmys to see their outfits.

what stands out to me in this article is that for most of the series listed, they give credit to the entire series, not just one episode, as if to say "you should watch this episode of Buffy, but not the others".

I mean, come on... the Bernie Mac Show? Undeclared? I'd rather floss with barbed wire than watch those shows again. Junkyard Wars is really cool, though.
