Marti Noxon mentions Willow/Tara in The Advocate

I have been informed that the advocate has a mention of Buffy/Willow/Tara.
Checking there web page they have an article (not on the web) in the current issue that mentiones
", Buffy dyke drama"
Anyone see this?
Okay, I read the article, and will try to put it up later.
It was an interview with Marti Noxon,
Salient points
1)Marti refused to say how the arc would end.
2)Marti had two mommies, her monther is Gay and raised with the help of her lover.
3)She aknowledges that fans of the couple are pissed but says "Willow was not meant to be a roll model" and that all the characters have there Dark Side

How great to see W/T getting more high-profile attention!

And at least judging from the synopsis, Marti's comments don't bother me one bit. I wouldn't have expected her to reveal how the story arc would turn out, and saying all the characters have their dark sides isn't really that big a revelation. Remember, Marti's the one who said last year that "fans should be concerned" about Tara being a demon.

Oh, come on, kitties! Buck up! Even if the BtVS writing staff has "Willow and Tara Forever" sceensavers spinning across their computer monitors and have every intention of getting them back together, you think they're gonna tell us??!! No way! They work hard at their craft and want their dramas to play out before us UNSPOILED. Marti wouldn't tip her hand, not yet.

Besides, she didn't say anything that scary. She simply wouldn't tell us what was gonna happen (see above) and said Willow wasn't supposed to be a role model. So? Almost every writer says that about their characters. "Role model" has negative creative connotations and expections connected to it. Marti merely means that they're not writing Willow to be some kind of representative of the gay community. She's just Willow. Buffy is no role model either. None of the show's characters are. Except for maybe Riley. Ewww. Get my point?

What Marti said means NOTHING as to whether Willow and Tara will get back together. She's being coy and rightly so.

It IS interesting that Marti has two mommies, though. Cool!

I gotta agree with Willowlicious. At first I was kind of worried, and then I realized that this is what Marti was going to say no matter what.

1) Not commenting on how it will turn out. Of *course* she's not going to! They won't comment on how any of the storylines will turn out! So she was going to say that no matter what.

2) Knowing that Marti was raised by two women is kinda neat, and actually comforts me a bit. She obviously has no problem with Willow and Tara being together.

3) Though Marti says Willow is not meant to be a role model, that honestly doesn't really mean anything. Willow is obviously going through bad motions this season, and that statement simply reflects it. Though I have to say that I *do* think Willow is a role model, whether they want her to be or not.

Buffy producer knows dyke drama

Buffy the Vampire Slayer co-executive producer Marti Noxon wouldn't tell The Buzz much about the eventual outcome of the problems between spell-casting lesbian lovers Willow and Tara (played by Alyson Hannigan and Amber Benson), except that "Willow's use of magic is going to cause problems between them." Noxon did, however, provide us with some fascinating insights aobut her own experience with lesbian couples.

"My mom is gay," Noxon revealed. "When I was 13 or 14 years old, she fell in love with a woman and has been with her ever since. So I have a mom and a mom."

Which means Noxon knows what she's talking about in defending the fact that Willow, one of network TV's few gay characters, may be straying from the side of righteousness this season. "We never really meant for Willow to be a gay icon," says Noxon. "Every character on Buffy is going to struggle with their dark side; that's the nature of our show."

For the show's fans who feel betrayed by Willow and Tara's love troubles, Noxon says, "There were people who were unhappy that [Willow] was gay, and there are people who are unhappy that she and Tara are having problems, that they're not the poster couple for gay relationships. But to my mind, that's not a fair representation of gay people either."

Like others have said, this doesn't make me feel bad at all, Marti (like all the writers) will not give out the ending of any storylines and she won't say anything that will ease our angst either, that's what they want, maximum angst...evil people, all of them

I for one was very unhappy with the break, but one that same note, I think I'd be more worried if they never wrote good stories for willow and tara, but I must say now I'm liking the story line (even if it is hard to watch sometimes)I just keep thinking "they will get back together"!!

Much as I hate what's going on with W/T right now, I'm glad that the show doesn't treat them as the lesbian poster couple. That's what makes the show so great, that it treats Willow and Tara like they're just normal humans who happen to be gay. Like everyone else, they have (as Glory said) quirks, foibles, passions...and they also do really, really stupid things.

That's really cool about Marti's mom. I'd never heard that before.

Well I mean I don't know if they didn't want to spoil and call it a break up but for Marti to say that it was going to cause problems, doesn't sound horribly irreparable. I don't know, she clearly didn't want to spoil and I think it's cool now we know that there are people in the background who have some knowledge of what it is like. I actually never figured marti to be a big w/t shipper but I am now wondering if she is bringing some of her own experience and input in the tara, dawn thing. Like she wants to make sure people get that gay folks can be parents.

By the way the little article has the musical picture in it.

No, it's the one where their heads are together, from the Magic Box. You know, when they're talking about going to get some...um...books...heh heh.

That's a great point about the Tara/Dawn relationship. Makes you wonder if things Tara says ring true for Marti. I know it shouldn't matter that much that she has some experience with gay couples, but you know, somehow, it does.

I really don't like the sound of this article, nor do I like the pain in the pit of my stomach that I got after I read it.

Ok if they do keep them apart, what I'm most worried about is that Tara will no longer be on the show. I can take it if they are split up, but only if Tara gets to stay a Scoobie.

Well honestly, I don't think it was all bad. Marti's hardly likely to give away huge plotlines in a tiny interview now is she? Plus, the whole point of the interview was the emphasis on her life, not Willow and Tara's. I'm not worried. And I shall continue saying that for a long long time.
