In Defence Of Willow! (no Spoilers)

Yes, you read it! I stand by my girl, recent foolishness aside.
I argue this point, and will do so in the next few posts. My premise here issimple. Willow is faced with the tempations of her power, and she is using it freely, and hastily. But not for Evil..
I want to discuss what I beleave to be her thoughts on Magic/vs how it appears in the Whedonverse, and compare her actions to other Scooby misteps..

So,you really start this thread, like you've said in another
( Well,add me to the defence line,sir! )

Oh,..Willow,she's not evil at all. She's just doing her best, the best she could think of.Willow likes to know the fact that she's good at doing things.Good at the magics. She hold on to it so much cos, right now,it's one thing she's knowing so well and at her best.

I can see myself do all the things like she did.I mean if you are so believe in something, even if it's all goes wrong, you will still want to believe in it more and more.
like Willow used her magics to fixed bad circumstances." It's only thing that'll do " she must have thought this.

Beside, those magics are base on good intentions. So,no she's not so bad at all.

Nobody starts out evil. Becoming evil is a process, you know when you've arrived when you start doing things that you know are evil because you like doing them.

Willow isn't evil but she has the potential to go that way (as do we all). The power, the lack of responsibility, these can lead to ruin, even in the well meaning Willow. I hope she realises the dangers before it is too late. I'm trusting that the sweet, honest, generous, loving Willow that we all know and love will win out.

Via infernae, ipse sanctus designo, benevolus aedifico, et propositum bonum vium saxo.
(The road to hell is planned by the self-righteous, built by the well meaning and paved with good intentions.)

I absolutely do not believe Willow is evil or will be turning evil either.

If any of us had her power I bet we would be hard pressed not to use it in our daily lives!

The only price Samantha (Bewitched) ever paid was having an annoying husband yelling at her for using her witchy powers at all!!

What about her Mother? She was a pest!

And you know that statement could apply equally to Endora or Sheila...

Nobody is evil and nobody is good per se.
What everyone has tho, is the potential for both of the above.
And Willow is no exception.
She is capable of great love and goodness and that will always be balanced out with the potential for doing wrong, intentionally or not. She's one of the most human characters in Buffy that way and that's why I love her.
I'm all angry with her at the moment for hurting Tara but at the end of the day she is human and will make stupid mistakes as we all do. Goddess knows most of us have been really nasty to our beloveds at some point in weaker moments.

So hold off on the nasties about Red, she'll be back, quirky and adorable as ever.

Hmmmm.....if Willow goes down "The Dark Path", will that mean we get to see her in leather, ala VampWillow?

If so, it may not be such a bad thing

Ok, seriously, call me an immoral young woman, but I think that the vast majority of things Willow has done with her magic have been for the good. She's got the power, and she hasn't used it to take over the world (yet..*gulp*) so I think all those Willow-haters need to chill a little. And maybe it's a good thing for Tara that she has been forced to take off those rose-tinted glasses that she used to see Willow through. If you want a strong relationshi, you have to put it to the test sometimes...and I see a lot of testing times ahead for W/T

Yes, but how many people do you care for?

The one thing to remember is that we both have good and bad in us. We saw what wimp Kirk became when his bad side was separated from him. So don't worry. I for one, have an immense reservoir of forgiveness for Willow. She deserves no less. After the bad shows, the good will come back. And so on, and so on...

I don't think willow is evil now, but I think because of her frivolous use of magic and thinking she could handle it might lead her to the dark side. but since she has the scoobies and ESPECIALLY tara, she'll always be pulled back to the good side.

Ok....Willow's not evil!?!?

But she is toying with the natural order of things and beginning to use her magic for her own gratification. She is using magic instead of facing the 'reality' (if there is such a thing in the Buffyverse!) of the situation; ie. she is using magic as a shortcut to an end. And that - I think - is the definition of an addiction.

Even though the 'ends' that Willow seeks may be 'noble', her overuse of magic to achieve those ends (ie. altering the natural order) is what will create problems for her. The consequences will be interesting to see (leather, black eyes, etc), and whatever Joss has planned for Willow, I believe it may be the defining moments of season 6!? Well, OK, yes it is still Buffy the Vampire Slayer.......

Seeing as this thread was started to defend Willow I shall try. Uhm, I cannot defend what she did to Tara, but nothing she has done so far makes her evil in my eyes. She is making some serious mistakes now, maybe more so than some of the other scoobies have in the past *cough*Xander*cough* *cough*cough*Anya*cough*cough*, though Willow's actions have not gotten any innocent Sunnydalers killed. She is still Willow. This is hurting herself as well. She has a good heart, I shall never doubt that.

Things will probably get worse in the months to come, but I believe that Willow will make amends, and I hope Tara will play a part in finding her this time. Certain things are foreshadowed in the scripts. I mean last year for example, Tara was the one who was freaked by the fact that Glory was a brainsucker, and she became her victim. In the Gift Willow says she will always find Tara and in the Bargaining Tara says she and Willow always know how to find each other. Well, I believe that will happen again. This is my logic and I am sticking to it.

Willow is not evil she is just misguided - lost - babbling along on the path of life forgetting to take a breath to think about what she is doing.
Would you desert a child who was going through this or a friend or a lover not if you really loved them, and I believe Tara really loves Willow - she needs to pull back right now so that when Wills presses the self destruct button (and believe me this is gonna happen)she is not caught in the blast - but she will be there to pick up the pieces as will all the Scoobies -coz they love Willow.
It is allways painful to watch someone you love go down this path but there are not many of us who would turn our backs.

Personally I have bucketfulls of love for Willow - unconditionally
